Title: Roll to Tech - Turn 6: The Little Soldier That Could
Post by: Elephant Parade on June 20, 2023, 06:56:58 pm
Roll to Tech
with apologies to SaGa and You Can't Defeat the Infinite Wall of Slime

You stand on a small island in a vast ocean. In front of you is a colossal tower; a plaque over the door reads 100-FLOOR BATTLE CHALLENGE. Facing the tower is a surprisingly modern building that a neon sign advertises as a SHOP.

The goal of the game is to reach the 101st floor of the tower. Who are you, and what do you do?

Turn 1: Into the Tower

Name: Techie Chan
Class: Tech Developer
HP: 4
TP: 7

Techie Chan, Tech Developer
HP: 4/4 | TP: 7/7
Tech Tonic: [Consumable] Restore 10 TP.

[1 TP] T-Charge: Next turn, you spark (develop a new tech) on a 5-6.
[1 TP] Pummel: [Unarmed] Overwhelm an enemy's guard with a flurry of punches. Hits even on a 2.

(You didn't include an action. If you want, you can enter the Tower retroactively.)

Name:  Iden Vankåbthusest
Class:  Dwarven Mechanic
HP: 4
TP: 7

Enter the tower!
Name: Obscurus
Class: Blood Mage
HP: 8
TP: 3

Enter the tower!

Iden Vankåbthusest, Dwarven Mechanic
HP: 4/4 | TP: 7/7
Wrench: [Blunt] +1 to repair-type skills.

[2 TP] Stonefall Trap: [Trap] Build a Stonefall Trap at your feet! Enemies who attack you in melee or otherwise pass in front of you will trigger a counter (+1 damage). Jams on a 1-3.
[2 TP] Clonk: [Blunt, Repair] Hit an enemy over the head with your wrench, dealing damage and stunning on a 6. Heals machines.

Obscurus, Blood Mage
HP: 8/8 | TP: 3/3
Sacrificial Knife: [Dagger] -2 damage, hits even on a 2. If it lands a killing blow...

[3 TP] Drain: [Magic][Dark] Leech 1D6 HP from an enemy.
[0 TP] Conversion: Take 1D6 damage, then regain half as much TP (rounded up).

Iden and Obscurus push aside the great red doors and enter the Tower. The ground floor is a surprisingly modern waiting room with a staircase up, an elevator, an unattended counter, and even a couch and chairs. The furniture has been thrown into disarray by a pair of old-fashioned (https://i.imgur.com/NU8yKL9.png), man-sized Toy Soldiers. They raise their rifles!

Toy Soldier A: 4/4 HP, 3/3 TP
Toy Soldier B: 4/4 HP, 3/3 TP

Name: Samuel MacArthur
Class: Safety Inspector
HP: 7
TP: 4

Begin my inspection of the outside of the tower and markdown any safety violations in my notebook.

Name: Samuel MacArthur, Safety Inspector
HP: 7/7 | TP: 4/4
Pencil: [Dagger] Ironically, it's made of lead. Hits even on a 2. Inflicts Poison on a 6.
Clipboard: [Shield] -1 damage taken while equipped. Breaks when hit with a natural 6.

[1 TP] Declaration: Declare a tech unsafe, prohibiting its use for 1D6 turns. Prohibited techs suffer a -1 penalty to the roll.
[3 TP] Enforcement: Each combatant suffers 1D6*X damage where X is the number of prohibited techs they've used this battle.

Oh, this thing is mega illegal. It's gotta be at least a kilometre high, but there are no safety lights anywhere. It's surprising there isn't an aircraft sticking out of the side already! God only knows what horrors await in a land untouched by the light of OSHA.

Examine the rear of the tower for secret entrances.

Jean-Jean Kick, Martial Arts Critic
HP: 6/6 | TP: 5/5
Hand Wraps: [Accessory] If you missed last turn, your [Unarmed] attacks hit on a 2.

[2 TP] Firm Hand: [Unarmed] 1D6+2 damage. Next turn, target's action receives a +1 bonus.
[3 TP] Quick Pointer: [Unarmed] Next turn, target's Unarmed attacks inflict double damage. (Can't self-target.)

(4) JJ brushes away some foliage to reveal a smaller blue door. Unfortunately, it appears to be locked.

(Signups are still open and will remain so indefinitely.)

You can perform non-tech attacks in combat. By default, a normal attack does D6+0 damage, possibly modified by your weapon (if any).

Turn 2

Outside the Tower

Keep looking around the outside of the tower to see if there are any other infractions to be found
(5) Why, only the worst infraction of all: this thing doesn't have any supports! If someone so much as said "earthquake", the whole thing would come crashing down! For God's sake, this tower is a lethal risk to the inhabitants and anyone else living in a one-kilometer radius (which, luckily enough, appears to be no one).

Jean-Jean Kick glares at the blue door and contemplates trying to bash it down, but magnanimously decides to leave it alone whilst less-obstructed entryways are available. For now.

Enter the tower in style by somersaulting through the front door.
Name: Joan
Class: Artist
HP: 5/5
TP: 6/6

Enter the tower.
Joan, Artist
HP: 5/5 | TP: 6/6
Big Brush: 1D6-2 damage. If Dipped, deals 1D6+0 damage and inflicts Blind on a 6. Dip effects last for an extra attack.
Element Palette: Dip a weapon in magic paint, applying an additional element to it. Wears off after 2 attacks; can be used on others' weapons. [USES: Fire: 2; Ice: 2; Volt: 2; Earth: 2; Holy: 1; Dark: 1]

[3 TP] Paint Splash: [Dipped Weapon] Attack X enemies, where X is the number of dipped attacks remaining on the weapon. Misses on a 3.
[2 TP] Ward Coat: [Palette] Consume an Element Palette use to give a target a protective coat, granting them resistance to that element for 1D6 turns.

Team JJJ joins Iden and Obscurus in the Tower. (Joan holds the door open so Jean-Jean can somersault through it.)

Tower 1F

Rush at the right-hand Toy Soldier and attack it with my Wrench.
Wait for the dwarf to whackus a toy soldier, and then finish the same one off with a dagger stab.
(Iden: 1) The Toy Soldier grasps the secret of Iden's attack! The Toy Soldier easily ducks under Iden's amateurish swing and comes away with some tricks for not getting smashed in the future. Toy Soldier A learned D-Blunt: Avoid Blunt attacks on a 3.

(Obscurus: 4) No whackus appears to be forthcoming, so Obscurus just stabs the guy on the right. They hack off a chunk of plaster for 2 damage, leaving the Toy Soldier teetering. Damn this crappy knife!

Enemy Phase:
(Toy Soldier A: 3) Toy Soldier A opens fire on Obscurus! The rifle might be a toy, but its rounds evidently aren't: the bullet rips through Obscurus's thigh for 3 damage!
(Toy Soldier B: 3) Toy Soldier B does the same thing to Iden, right down to the placement of the shot and the amount of damage inflicted. Twinsies!

Toy Soldier A: 2/4 HP, 3/3 TP | D-Blunt
Toy Soldier B: 4/4 HP, 3/3 TP

Jean-Jean looks around the room in disapproval, then plops down in one of the chairs, legs crossed, and starts ranting at the Toy Soldiers. "What kind of stance is that, legs locked together? Are you to try to kill someone, or are you waiting in line at a chestnut stand? And the way you hold your rifles - so stiff, so wooden! And no, being made out of wood is not an excuse! I've seen toys made out of lead more nimble than you two! And what's with shooting people in the thigh, huh? If it was just one of you, I'd assume it was a mistake, but both of you shot there like you were intentionally aiming for that! Do you think people's hearts are located in their thighs, huh? Is that the kind of nonsense they teach in toy soldier academy these days?"

Samuel ignores the eldritch abomination trying to kill him and enters the Tower. There's nothing in the book about animated toys, an omission the next revision will surely correct, but those rifles they're brandishing are certainly unsafe!

While outside the tower, T-Charge(Sorry if I failed to submit an action.)
(Techie: 2) Techie strikes his best anime pose and powers up. He gains one turn of T-Charged.

(Obscuro: 4) Obscuro finishes off Toy Soldier A with a Sacrifical Knife to the neck. It crumples to the ground and deanimates. A red rune appears on the base of the blade! (Drop: 6!) Toy Soldier A drops its Plaster Rifle.
- Plaster Rifle: D+0 damage. Ranged. Misfires on a 2 (self-damage). Must be reloaded after use.
Wow, this thing sucks!

(Joan: 6!) Joan grasps a new technique! The bristles of her brush strip the paint—and life!—from Toy Soldier B (4 damage), leaving the latter at 0 HP and the former with a fresh coat of Pierce Paint. (Drop: 6!) Oh boy, just what everyone wanted: another Plaster Rifle.
[1 TP] Soak Up: [Undipped Brush] If this kills an enemy, your Brush gains one coat of paint.

(Iden: -) Iden smashes the fallen Toy Soldier to pieces for good measure.

(Jean-Jean: -) Faced with JJ's sick burns, the Toy Soldiers would be rolling in their graves, had they any.

The battle is won! Obscuro feels a little wiser (+1 TP). Iden feels a little tougher (+1 HP). Joan feels a little tougher (+1 HP). The stairway to 2F beckons...

Tip: You can move up or down any number of floors in one turn so long as nothing gets in your way. You can perform actions, including techs, at any point of your move prior to entering combat. (Example: If there's a monster on 3F, you can drink a potion and then move to 3F, but you can't move to 3F and then attack it in the same turn.)

Informal poll: should action order be randomized? Right now I'm just going in post order, but as you can see above, that isn't always fair to people who post later.

((Slight preference for action order to be randomized for the purposes of MORE CHAOS.))

Hmm, there now appeared to be two ways forwards; the stairs or the elevator. If the latter was trustworthy and operable, it could be a useful way to leapfrog the trifling combats of the lower floors and get straight to more worthy opponents; but that was a big 'if'.

Turning to Samuel MacArthur, Jean-Jean says, "Hello there! You're some sort of official tower-inspector, yes? I have no doubt that you'd need but scratch the surface of that elevator over yonder to find a veritable bouquet of violations festering underneath."

[6 TP] Summon Manes: [Summon] Summon a Manes, a lesser demon that fights with its claws, for D6 turns. Obedient on a 3+.
[6 TP] Banish: Attempt to send a demon back to Hell. Success threshold depends on target.

Gabbie, Tagger
HP: 4/4 | TP: 7/7
Spraycan: Holds spraypaint. Consumed to power [Spray] skills. [100/100 Paint]

[5 TP] Heart Tag: [Spray: 25, Tag] Tags the current room with a big red heart. All allies in the room will regenerate 1 HP per turn. Lasts D6+1 turns.
[1 TP] Blind Spray: [Spray: 5] Spray paint in an enemy's eyes, dealing D6+0 damage and blinding them on a 6.

John Doe, Ghost Knight
HP: 6/6 | TP: 5/5
Phantomkiller: [Sword] +0 damage. Inflicts double damage on spirits and incorporeal enemies.

[3 TP] Ethereal Form: Become incorporeal for D6-1 turns. While incorporeal, physical attacks (both yours and your opponents') miss on a 3-4.
[3 TP] Chill: [Magic, Ice] Burden the air with a bone-chilling cold, inflicting 1 damage on D6 targets.

(Samuel: 6) With a Herculean effort, Samuel forces the doors apart. He's really not that strong, so they must not have been built to code. And look at this: there's nothing to prevent him from falling into the open elevator shaft and going splat on the bottom God-knows-how-many levels down! Well, it might be possible to grab onto the cord and arrest his fall anyway, but that's action hero shit; the violation stands. The elevator car isn't anywhere in sight, either.

(Techie: 2) Techie T-Charges himself, the only valid target for T-Charge. He is once again T-Charged! He then travels up with the group.

(Iden: 3, Joan: 2, Obscurus: 1) Iden and Joan scoop up the guns, leaving Obscurus tragically rifleless. He trudges up the stairs sulkily.

One short ascent later, Norumas, Gabbie, John Doe, Techie, Iden, Joan, Obscurus, and Jean-Jean emerge into a giant's playroom. Colossal blocks are scattered across the room—which is rather a lot larger than the lobby, by the way. The floor appears to be roughly divided into two Lincoln Log "camps". Both camps are littered with smashed soldiers and huge marbles, but in the opposing camp, one squad still stands! Two soldiers take up position behind a pair of glassy cannons; the rest raise their rifles!

Toy Soldier A: 4/4 HP, 3/3 TP | D-Blunt
Toy Soldier B: 4/4 HP, 3/3 TP | D-Blunt
Toy Soldier C: 4/4 HP, 3/3 TP | D-Blunt
Toy Soldier D: 4/4 HP, 3/3 TP | D-Blunt
Toy Soldier E: 4/4 HP, 3/3 TP | D-Blunt
Toy Soldier F: 4/4 HP, 3/3 TP | D-Blunt
Toy Soldier G: 4/4 HP, 3/3 TP | D-Blunt
Toy Soldier H: 4/4 HP, 3/3 TP | D-Blunt
Toy Cannon A: 12/12 HP, 0/0 TP
Toy Cannon B: 12/12 HP, 0/0 TP

Spoiler: Character Sheets (click to show/hide)

Tip: If all else fails, you can always attack with your fists! Unarmed attacks deal D6+0 damage, which isn't half bad!

"Hello, yes I'm here to inspect to tower, not sure how it got built and existed this long without an inspector finding it, and I doubt I brought enough paper to wright everything down on, probably gonna end up using two or three pages on the elevator if it's like the rest of the place."

"If I find any paper, I'll be sure to let you know." It would be nice having an ally who could warn about the tower's dangers before experiencing them first-hand.

***

Seeing the number of rifles arrayed against him, Jean-Jean decides to let the other adventurers thin the crowd a bit before charging in. Taking cover behind one of the giant blocks, he yells out a quick tip to Techie Chan. "Aim for the wheels! Those cannons are useless if they can't aim them! Not that they'll be very useful anyways, considering those louts' aim!"

Use Quick Pointer on Techie Chan.

Turn 5: The First Casualty

Tower 1F

ATTACK THAT Samuel MacArthur.
(ERROR: 6!) ERROR grasps a new technique! With a single swing of his               , ERROR cleaves Samuel's clipboard—and several of his bones—in two! (4 damage)
[3 TP] Sunder: [Slashing] Bypass your enemy's guard with overwhelming force. Deals D+1 damage; destroys weak shields on a 4+, normal shields on a 5+, and strong shields on a 6+.

Follow the group upstairs.
Samuel limps away. He probably can't blame the homicidal maniac on the design of the Tower, but he'll be damned if he doesn't try.

Tower 2F

Drain the cannon on the right.
Pummel the Toy Cannon on the left
Joan uses Paint Splash on Toy Soldier C and D.
Use Quick Pointer on Techie Chan.
[Spray Blind] whichever Toy Cannon Obscuro isn't hitting.
Get behind some cover and fire my Plastic Rifle at one of the Toy Soldiers.
With a ghostly moan John takes on an [Ethereal Form].

Player Phase

(Obscuro: 1!) Toy Cannon B grasps the secret of Obscuro's attack! The cannon appears to be inanimate, i.e. bereft of life, i.e. absent of anything that Drain could drain. (B-Dark: -1 damage from Dark attacks.)

(Jean-Jean: 3) Jean-Jean hasn't seen Techie in action, so his advice consists of a series of half-assed generalities. Still, it's good enough for Quick Pointer to take effect!

(Techie: 5!) Techie Chan grasps a new technique! He unleashes a flurry of punches on the hapless cannon! (...6) His punches break off six huge chunks of plaster, but the cannon still stands!
[5 TP] Knuckle Blitz: [Unarmed] Beat down an enemy with woodpecker-like blows. Uses the higher of two rolls.

(Joan: 5, 4) Joan swipes her brush, sending a wave of paint toward two hapless toy soldiers! (5 damage, 4 damage) The coat perforates both of them with countless holes, bringing them down for good! One drops a Life Liquer, the other nil.
- Life Liquer: [Consumable] Restore 10 HP.

(Gabbie: 2) Gabbie isn't quite sure how to blind something without eyes, or a face, or sensory organs of any sort. She tries spraying the muzzle, but it doesn't seem to do anything.

(Iden: 1!) Toy Soldier A grasps the secret of Iden's attack! The Toy Soldier laughs! (Well, it clacks; that's the only sound it can make. But it's a mocking clack.) It's been practicing with this model since its fabrication; it's not going to be hit by some upstart who only picked one up last turn! (D-Pierce: Dodge Pierce attacks on a 3.)

(John: 2) John concentrates all his ghostly energy and pushes it inward, turning himself intangible for... one turn. Wow. He's going to get so much shit for this at the next Phantom Joust.

Enemy Phase

(Toy Soldier A: 2) Toy Soldier A fires Toy Cannon A at Techie, who's still standing in front of it. He misses. Don't ask how.

(Toy Soldier B: 5) Out of either rage for the killer of his comrades or a desire not to repeat Toy Soldier A's mistake, Toy Soldier B aims further afield, at Joan. A huge marble emerges from the barrel, strikes Joan in the chest, and pierces straight through her torso (6 damage). Joan has died! Her Big Brush, Element Palette, and Plaster Rifle fall to the floor. She may respawn at the base of the Tower or create a new character.

(Toy Soldier E: 1!) Jean-Jean grasps the secret of Toy Soldier E's attack! He stylishly catches the bullet between two fingers. Hey, that might work on other weapons too! (D-Pierce: Dodge Pierce attacks on a 3.)

(Toy Soldier F: 1!) Iden grasps the secret of Toy Soldier F's attack! Using his knowledge of machines, he predicts the exact moment Toy Soldier F's rifle will fire and takes cover shortly before it. (D-Gun: Dodge Gun attacks on a 3-4.)

(Toy Soldier G: 2) Toy Soldier G brooks no interference with his precious cannons! He fires on Gabbie, but she ducks under the cannon at the last moment.

(Toy Soldier H: 6!) Toy Soldier H grasps a new technique! He braces his rifle against his shoulder and shoots Norumas in the head for 7 damage! Norumas has died! His Mistletoe falls to the floor. He may respawn at the base of the Tower or create a new character.
[3 TP] Steady Shot: [Gun] Brace your gun before firing. Deals D+1 damage and never misfires.

John Doe fades back into the physical realm. Techie Chan loses his T-Charge. Techie Chan's fists glow with critical power! Toy Soldiers E and F are rolling a fresh pair of marbles toward the cannons!

Toy Soldier A: 4/4 HP, 3/3 TP | D-Blunt, D-Pierce
Toy Soldier B: 4/4 HP, 3/3 TP | D-Blunt
Toy Soldier C: 0/4 HP, 3/3 TP | D-Blunt
Toy Soldier D: 0/4 HP, 3/3 TP | D-Blunt
Toy Soldier E: 4/4 HP, 3/3 TP | D-Blunt
Toy Soldier F: 4/4 HP, 3/3 TP | D-Blunt
Toy Soldier G: 4/4 HP, 3/3 TP | D-Blunt
Toy Soldier H: 4/4 HP, 3/3 TP | Steady Shot | D-Blunt
Toy Cannon A: 6/12 HP, 0/0 TP
Toy Cannon B: 12/12 HP, 0/0 TP | B-Dark

Unclaimed Items: Life Liquer, Big Brush, Element Palette, Plaster Rifle, Mistletoe

Spoiler: Character Sheets (click to show/hide)
(35) Nothing happens.

Tip: Techs that roll multiple dice, like Paint Splash and Knuckle Blitz, can only spark new techs on the first.

Player Phase

(ERROR: -) ERROR crashes the party!

(Obscurus: -) Obscurus scoops up the Life Liquer, Mistletoe, Big Brush, Element Palette, and Plaster Rifle and flees the battlefield.

(Techie Chan: 3, 5) [Knuckle Blitz -> Toy Cannon B] Techie unleashes another Knuckle Blitz on the helpless cannon! Armed with new knowledge, he pummels its weak points, breaking it apart with his bare hands (10 damage)! 4 GP is left among the rubble.

(Gabbie: 1!) [Spray Blind -> Toy Soldier H] Toy Soldier H grasps the secret of Gabbie's attack! Gabbie coats Toy Soldier H's eyes in spray paint, but it pulls out a brush and palette and paints them back on. What a cheater! (I-Blind: Immune to Blind.)

(Iden: 1!) [Attack (Rifle Bash) -> Toy Soldier H] Toy Soldier H grasps the secret of Iden's attack! With its new and improved eyes, the Toy Soldier has no trouble avoiding Iden's swing! (D-Blunt evolved into D-Blunt+: Avoid Blunt attacks on a 3-4.)

(John: 5) [Attack -> Toy Soldier B] Horizon's mighty swing cuts Toy Soldier B clean in two (5 damage)! It drops 2 GP.

(Jean-Jean: 6!) [Attack -> Toy Soldier E] Jean-Jean grasps a new technique! Jean-Jean smashes plaster against glass, shattering both to pieces (10 damage)!
[3 TP] Table Crasher: [Unarmed] Slam an enemy into a nearby surface, dealing D+? damage. The harder and closer the surface, the larger the damage bonus.

(Samuel: 5) [Attack -> ERROR] Samuel jabs ERROR in a fleshy-looking clump of static, dealing 5 damage. ERROR explodes into particles, leaving                            behind! ERROR has died! They may respawn at the base of the Tower or create a new character.

Enemy Phase

(Toy Soldier A: 6!) [Attack (Plaster Rifle) -> Techie] Toy Soldier A grasps a new technique! None too happy about the destruction of its neighbor's cannon or the prospect that its own might be next, Toy Soldier A steps forward, presses its rifle against Techie's head, and fires! The results are all too predictable (9 damage). Techie has died! He may respawn at the base of the tower or create a new character. His Tech Tonic falls to the floor.
[3 TP] Point Blank: [Gun] Press the muzzle against a foe and blast away. Misses on a 3; D+4 damage.

(Toy Soldier F: -) Toy Soldier F loads the remaining cannon...

(Toy Soldier H: 4) [Fire Cannon -> Iden] ...just in time for Toy Soldier H to fire it! He targets Iden. The cannonball sails toward him... [D-Gun!] But Iden, who saw its barrel turning toward him before it even fired, rolls out of the way at the last moment!

(Toy Soldier G: 2) Toy Soldier G reloads, having politely delayed its turn so as not to interrupt the series of events involving the cannon. Thank you, Toy Soldier G.

Toy Soldier A: 4/4 HP, 3/3 TP | Point Blank | D-Blunt, D-Pierce
Toy Soldier B: 0/4 HP, 3/3 TP | D-Blunt
Toy Soldier C: 0/4 HP, 3/3 TP | D-Blunt
Toy Soldier D: 0/4 HP, 3/3 TP | D-Blunt
Toy Soldier E: 0/4 HP, 3/3 TP | D-Blunt
Toy Soldier F: 4/4 HP, 3/3 TP | D-Blunt
Toy Soldier G: 4/4 HP, 3/3 TP | D-Blunt
Toy Soldier H: 4/4 HP, 3/3 TP | Steady Shot | D-Blunt+, I-Blind
Toy Cannon A: 0/12 HP, 0/0 TP
Toy Cannon B: 12/12 HP, 0/0 TP | B-Dark

Unclaimed Items: 9 GP, ???, Tech Tonic

Techie feels the glow of feedback wear off is dead and can't feel anything. Toy Soldier F is going for another marble!

Outside the Tower

Respawn. Death is apparently not the end.

Joan reappears sans armanents at the base of the Tower just in time to see Obscurus sprint by. Hey, he has all her stuff!

Shop

"This is sub-optimal. I must withdraw."

Pick up the items dropped by the dead and go to the SHOP to sell them off for a heal.

Obscurus enters the shop. It's a homely corner store with a counter on the far wall, a row of gachapon machines on the near wall, and assorted shelving in between. Behind the counter are its two keepers: an elderly man who sells items and an elderly woman who teaches spells.

The man takes the items, but hands everything other than the Life Liquer back -- he doesn't deal in stolen goods. He gives Obscurus 3 GP for the potion. Now, if Obscurus needs healing, the man suggests a Life Liquer. They're only 5 GP each!

Let me put all the travel rules in one place since I haven't been very clear about them:
The intent here is to prevent weird hit-and-run tactics and prevent players from rejoining the fray the turn they respawn. Do these rules make sense?

Jean-Jean was impressed by how quickly one of the toy soldiers was able to paint a new face for itself, but nevertheless, the work had plenty of room for improvement. Those eyes looked much too flat, for one. He decided to perform a light touch-up to add some depth to them.

Attack Toy Soldier H with karate 'spear hand' strikes in a dubious attempt to bypass its blunt damage resistance.

((Okay, wasn't sure which it was since you did charge Gabbie, but the prior turn didn't charge Obscurus.))

Attempting to shake off thoughts of her horrific death, no doubt the first of many, Joan focuses on something of even greater importance. That thief had her brush.

Does that man know that by depriving her of the tools of her trade, he robs not only her, but all of mankind of her work? Hopefully this misguided fool will see reason when confronted.

After that thief.
