Torturedaunt
A Majestic Primal Succubus Dungeon with Touhou and slime girls
Civs
Succubus Dungeon (https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2950544248) - Adds succubi, a lustful and shameless demonic race with access to a variety of demonic pets and infernal workstations. They are especially proficient with glass and bone, being able to efficiently produce blocks of the former and a variety of normally unavailable items (including blocks) of the latter. They can also summon magma at will, which has a variety of interesting applications.
Serpent Race (https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3010922854) - Adds a carnivorous slaver snakemen civ. They're fairly mundane otherwise, but do lay eggs in nest boxes.
Hobgoblins (https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2936988830) - Adds a race of medium-sized hairy goblinoids with horns. They learn crafting skills faster than dwarves and are similarly industrious, and their ethics are fairly mundane.
Dark Elf Civilization (https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2905706199) - Adds a civ of surprisingly friendly dark elves and the several underground crops (and drinks) they enjoy. Sadly unrelated to Rekov's ice gem crafting arctic dark elves, (http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=179011.0) which have not been updated to the steam version.
Additional Races: Naga (https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2904134678) - Adds an unplayable aquatic snakeman-like civ. They are fairly malicious and possess a few exotic materials, one of which is roughly on par with steel. They also possess a few different castes, differing in number of arms.
Orc Civilization (https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2903693076&searchtext=orc) - Adds a nonplayable (there's a different mod to make them playable) civ of big strong tough orcs inspired by Warhammer orks. Sadly incompatible with the orc civ mod that adds Lord of the Rings inspired orcs with a dozen hideous castes, (https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2946888253) as both mods call their creatures "orcs" in code.
Creatures
Primal (https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2900159645) - Adds a large number of extinct creatures, including dinosaurs, bizarre hard-to-classify animals, and recent extinctions. Note that dinosaurs tend to be VERY LARGE.
Monsters of Majesty (https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2898482156) - Adds several creatures from the Majesty line of video games, such as medusae and several varieties of more-giant-than-the-last rat. Many are trainable.
Touhou Fortress (https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2907360996) - Adds characters from the Touhou franchise as magical creatures with a variety of abilities. They can roam onto the map or be captured and tamed.
If you'd like to claim a succubus, you have a few options. Torturedaunt is intended to be a small and cozy place, so there are no migrants, but many souls end up in the dungeon nonetheless.
1. Visitors. Travelers, especially wandering performers, will often arrive and occasionally petition to join as longterm residents. After two years of residency, they will petition for full citizenship and behave like any other member of the dungeon.
2. Corrupted Visitors. Succubi possess the ability to corrupt visitors into succubus castes with their own strengths and weaknesses (corrupted dwarves are good at mining and warsmithing, for instance). Unfortunately, AFAIK this only works on vanilla races, which tend to be fairly sparse in heavily modded worlds.
3. Intelligent Livestock. Several modded creatures (and gremlins in the base game) are both intelligent and not part of a civilization, which means they can be captured or bought, then produce offspring which are treated as full citizens. Frog Demons are the only option I'm aware of which mature in a reasonable amount of time (3 years), but these loathesome brutes are also always available to succubus civilizations.
To claim any of these (or anything else you like, if you'd rather be a tentacle monster), either request an individual we already have or specify any qualities you'd like me to grab for you. Once you have someone (or thing), I'll try to have him (and probably the rest of the dungeon) work towards any goals or tendencies you want.

Welcome to Torturedaunt! As you may have noticed, the game has been slightly modded, so if you see something you don't recognize that's a skill issue.
Misuril here is our only incubus, and thus quite the catch. He likes pain elementals for their suffering and summoned souls for their mysterious features, and so works tirelessly as an engraver to bring these wonders to everyone else while they sleep.
Mixel won the dice game to determine who's in charge, so she's the Matron (expedition leader) for now. She likes large gems, so she's a gemcutter, though her favorite kind of gems are the fairly worthless moss agates (value 2, same as green glass).
With a breeding pair of both orthi (two-headed dogs) and cauchemars (magic evil horses), an artificial pen will be necessary. Workshops are thrown together on the surface while areas are channeled out for more permanent constructions.
(https://i.imgur.com/Ebfeoj1.png): "Sweet, the magma well is up. Now we can draw free magma from the depths of hell itself instead of having to dig for it or something."

(https://i.imgur.com/AIjJFti.png): "Aw, manual labor?! Don't we have slaves for that?"
(https://i.imgur.com/El3uqJR.png): "Not until we lure, capture, or buy some."
Orme is our weaponsmith because she likes anvils. Milaxe is a bonecarver with a penchant for figurines, orthi for their two heads, elephant seals for their big floppy noses, and kobold bulbs for their shrouded history. This will be a strange war miniatures game.
4th Felsite, Late Spring, Year 100
(https://i.imgur.com/iGvSfQQ.jpg)
Succubi can use a floating glass furnace (the long one) to produce ten blocks (or doors) out of glass at a time, for whatever a single item of that glass type normally costs. As a result, a month later the beginnings of a greenhouse ranch have been laid out. The horses are by this time hungry, so they're placed in their fancy new pen, where it is hoped they will live long enough to be fully ensconced in a protective shell of glass.
Belowground, permanent accommodations for the succubi are underway, and much of the food has been hauled in.
10th Hematite, Early Summer, Year 100
(https://i.imgur.com/ml2pWnl.jpg)
A bit into summer, the greenhouse is finally completed. It should be large enough to handle a pair of demonic horses, and accessible only from deeper into the dungeon proper. It's also composed of clear glass panels supported by green glass framing, giving it both access to clear sunlight and eerie bands of green refracted throughout the chamber.
(https://i.imgur.com/6wMoCsy.png): "Not quite as nice as I was envisioning. Tear it down and start over."
(https://i.imgur.com/CA1lnzX.png): "Stop bullying the glassworker!"
Aricinde likes clear glass and doors, so she's our glassworker. She cannot wait to lock people out while letting them see exactly what they're missing out on.

(https://i.imgur.com/Ebfeoj1.png): "What a fitting first statue!"
(https://i.imgur.com/WPEQHVK.png): "We're gonna pawn it immediately."
26th Hematite, Early Summer, Year 100
(https://i.imgur.com/1q2qSXv.jpg)
(https://i.imgur.com/WLzJG0H.png): "You desperately need these fine statues, don't you?"
(https://i.imgur.com/T40Q1zR.png): "Oh noooooooooo but I have absolutely nothing to trade for theeeeeem~"
(https://i.imgur.com/KI6EJqM.png): "Guys we do actually need that stuff."
(https://i.imgur.com/CKLNBRC.png): "Oh right, the stuff!"
(https://i.imgur.com/xLDv1ZX.png): "That's what we came here to do! I knew it had something to do with the cauchemars!"
Our funds are... thrown together at the last minute, so we settle for a pair of metal bars, a lump of raw crystal glass, a male nahash (whispering evil snake) and a fire imp.
(https://i.imgur.com/RNY1TPO.png): "Finally, I outrank someone!"
Note that fire imps are humanoid but not intelligent, so this claim is dubious. In any case, Acuamire likes platinum and scepters, so she's a metalcrafter ready to bling herself out. Sadly our home civ does not have access to platinum, so here's hoping for wealthy trading partners elsewhere.
7th Malachite, Mid Summer, Year 100
(https://i.imgur.com/3frEA4L.jpg)
There's a commotion outside, as everyone is driven into a bloodthirsty frenzy by a panicked snub-nosed frillneck. A rather large one, which unarmored pick-wielding succubi might not want to mess with.
Fortunately, they lose it across the brook.
9th Malachite, Mid Summer, Year 100
(https://i.imgur.com/PE4i6vC.jpg)
Nevermind, they found it again. They take part in a merry jaunt through the hills. As do our orthi, unfortunately.

The merchant guard mace dame finally catches it and proceeds to blame the poor creature for all her current woes. Her equipment isn't fantastic, but she seems to have the upper hand.
She fells the beast without suffering a scratch.
(https://i.imgur.com/KT0zcAU.png): "I inspected her very thoroughly to make sure."
Gismande is our gemsetter because she likes incredibly valuable yellow diamonds (value 60, home civ does not have access) and cave spiders for their mystery, so hopefully she'll encrust some cool yellow diamond images of spiders at some point. She's also our chief nurse, and so in charge of acting like a sexy nurse. Also probably genuine medicine or something.
Apparently so!
To celebrate the occasion, Aricinde creates the dungeon's first masterwork: A green glass statue of a shin-high desert herbivore-mammal-thing.
Well, that's going in the meeting hall, whatever it is.

Update 2: No Escape
2nd Galena, Late Summer, Year 100
(https://i.imgur.com/jXtQ8fA.jpg)
The merchants have departed! Except not really. Hopefully they'll go away on their own, but...
Regardless, we're finally ready to start working on defensive measures. You didn't think succubi were going to defend themselves with force of arms, did you?
(https://i.imgur.com/mYIAWsF.png): sexy victory cry
You didn't think our succubi were going to defend themselves through force of arms, did you?
Since we do not (yet) have a deranged trapsmith to work as a dedicated mechanic, Orme has been conscripted to make shale mechanisms because she likes shale. This will power both our drawbridge and the many cage traps we shall use to capture intruders.
It doesn't take long to get the first layer channeled out, but digging a deep enough pit will be more of a challenge. Especially since the bridge blocks access to the pit when lowered and the dungeon when raised. That was the point, but not yet!
1st Limestone, Early Autumn, Year 100
(https://i.imgur.com/UMwj4Zp.jpg)
Not surprisingly, the changing of seasons was insufficient to dislodge the merchants. Presumably we will need to resort to drastic measures, but for now they're kinda handy as emergency guards.
26th Sandstone, Mid Autumn, Year 100
(https://i.imgur.com/O9H1Tx1.jpg)
(https://i.imgur.com/RNY1TPO.png): "Ohohohoho! As expected of such a skilled craftdemon!"
Succubi can use bone for a lot of normally wood furniture, so we didn't anticipate needing a dedicated carpenter. Nonetheless, Acuamire moonlights as a rather good one, apparently. She has been producing an awful lot of beds, bins, barrels, buckets, and of course cages.

19th Timber, Late Autumn, Year 100
(https://i.imgur.com/SB567ZU.jpg)
Unfortunately there's so much food we can't haul it all before it starts rotting. On the other hand, it's not like we need any more food.
1st Moonstone, Early Winter, Year 100
(https://i.imgur.com/ogfdR8x.jpg)
Winter has arrived, and the junk pile outside is still rather extensive.
The main entrance is beautifully trapped with cages and a nice bridge over a deep-ish pit.
(https://i.imgur.com/lkYbY7p.png): "Oh no, I can't escape from the inescapable pit!"
(https://i.imgur.com/mmA5TIa.png): "Well, at least we know it works."
(https://i.imgur.com/ThbVbE4.png): "Honestly how'd he even manage to wall himself in here like that? You'd have to be some kind of moron to-"

ANYWAY, the rest of the dungeon is fairly sparse; there's only so much seven succubi can do in six months. A workshop/forge area is under construction underneath the greenhouse, which still houses the cauchemars without complaint.
And yes, that dinosaur skeleton statue is our masterwork uhhhhhhh...
That. Desert mini-pig-goat or something. The point is it's masterful!

(https://i.imgur.com/osuHp2u.png): "Vile cretins! Release me at once!"
(https://i.imgur.com/AUBtGop.png): "We are that, yes."
Update 3: Gifts
24th Moonstone, Early Winter, Year 100
(https://i.imgur.com/6gP6uAG.jpg)
On the other side of the dungeon, beneath the greenhouse, we've finally set up a temporary glassworks. There's magma contained in a clear glass chamber beneath the float furnace, but the other one is just a mundane glass furnace being used for sand collection up above. There's also a patch for fire clay if we want a pottery industry.
Our nahash is prone to wandering around and outside of the dungeon, which is poor for safety but might provide early warning of approaching danger. Something to keep in mind when we get more expendable animals...
18th Opal, Mid Winter, Year 100
(https://i.imgur.com/8CdUdGz.jpg)
Our bonecarver produces the first of many masterworks in her pursuit of profits. As you can see, we've relocated the trade depot inside to avoid further interruptions.
Another guest!
22nd Opal, Mid Winter, Year 100
(https://i.imgur.com/CwEccdR.jpg)
(https://i.imgur.com/El3uqJR.png): "Well that's not where the magma was supposed to go."
(https://i.imgur.com/rrR9nXK.png): "Wait, why is there so much of it?"
(https://i.imgur.com/GXmjjD4.png): "That's way too much magma!"
(https://i.imgur.com/Vrn8nhC.png): I don't understand! The pump's not running!"
Succubi are immune to magma, but they still don't like it. Nahashes... probably aren't.
Fortunately they all manage to wriggle out through a ramp before it floods, but the area under the forges is just... filling with magma continuously for no apparent reason. Does "spawn magma" produce an infinite source rather than a finite amount?
(https://i.imgur.com/AUBtGop.png): "Are you telling me tampering with easy power from hell itself resulted in unexpected consequences?"
27th Opal, Mid Winter, Year 100
(https://i.imgur.com/jBEvmKV.jpg)
Our bonecarver has finally produced a piece honoring the leader of our entire civilization:
(https://i.imgur.com/mmA5TIa.png): "All hail his terrible majesty! His sinister gaze! His iron-yet-fluffy grasp on all the world!"
(https://i.imgur.com/6wMoCsy.png): "All hail!"
(https://i.imgur.com/PDoDBxq.png): "These runes say something about stopping all infinities? Maybe that's what we want to stop the infinite magma?"
(https://i.imgur.com/gUTgYiC.png): And maybe... filling the well with magma and then taking it apart will be more what we want...?"
(https://i.imgur.com/3ScJJ0A.png): "You better not flood the top of my dungeon too..."
4th Obsidian, Late Winter, Year 100
(https://i.imgur.com/Vd3oCc9.jpg)
One quirk of visiting bards is that they seem to take on your civilization and culture, which means they wear your clothes, which means they appear to be naked if their spritesheet doesn't support said clothes.
Granted, there are alternative theories about why bards who clearly own clothes might be seen naked in a succubus dungeon all the time.
(https://i.imgur.com/OllddST.png): "Did... did we just capture a breeding pair of snub-nosed frillnecks completely by accident?"
(https://i.imgur.com/SlQ7bgH.png): "That... that's gotta be a trap. Right?"
(https://i.imgur.com/mmA5TIa.png): "Or a gift from Syikrsyy Dogdungeons for honoring him in bone!"
They're quick and easy to train and then lead to the cauchemar pens. These ones will require periodic retraining, but once we get some nest boxes we should be able to breed as many permanently tame snub-noses as we want.
Bone figurines are an excellent source of history!

(https://i.imgur.com/6QAJDEB.png): "Is there gonna be a safe time to dig bigger pens out?"

With magma spoiling industrial expansion anyway, everyone takes a break to party.

The orc tells a story!
It's a much needed break from all this honest labor everyone's been doing.

The traders arrive with an edmontosaurus (giant duckbill) and parasaurolophus (crested duckbill) as pack animals, and have no difficulty passing over our traps. Presumably wagons wouldn't be able to make the trip, but we're unlikely to acquire the population to cause merchants to bring those.
We should probably invest in bins at some point, but the workshop is right there. Moving the goods is nice and quick, relatively speaking.

They don't have much...
Correction! They don't have much in the way of material goods. Their selection of livestock is most excellent.
They also have bafflingly low profit expectations. Either succubi are very persuasive, serpentmen aren't especially mercantile, or merchants have vastly toned themselves down compared to what I'm used to.
While we have no need for food exactly, we do grab some underground crops to generate seeds from. Livestock butchering will keep our food supplies overflowing, but we will presumably need to start brewing drinks at some point.
Misuril has a thing for donkey cheese, so we throw some wheels in there and give them far more than they demand for the lot. It's still an absolute steal, but it does cost us most of our bone crafts and the green glass statues we tried to trade away to the succubi.

The merchants bring a rich bounty- about ten metal bars (mostly copper and tin as requested, but one gold), more cut gems than we can afford (we requested a few of the succubi's favorite types), a bin of leather, a few fruits for brewing... and of course, a pain elemental (Misuril's favorite!), tentacle demon (everyone's favorite!), and spare orthus (warhound in training).
Unfortunately this costs everything except a few masterwork figurines, which we display near the entrance instead.
They also demand much more reasonable rates for it. 50% markup is still very generous from my experience, but it's nothing compared to the meager earnings the snakemen were comfortable with. Maybe succubi are better hagglers after all, or the rounding off of values is producing strange artifacts.

No relation to the other dinosaurs who wandered into our entry hall and were immediately scooped.
Any thoughts on our current livestock situation? We're going to have to thin them out somehow or another.
Also of note: Nothing in the Primal mod is actually a grazer, even when it might make sense, so technically they don't need a grassy enclosure. Even so, I'm actually kinda surprised the pen we have is supporting four camels, two nightmares, and all the trampling that must be going on. It seems to remain solid green most of the time.
Update 5: Life and Death
8th Galena, Late Summer, Year 101
(https://i.imgur.com/wDcyios.jpg)
We've established a workshop area for leather and cloth, and more importantly for harvesting dinosaur bones.
The kitchen and raw food storage area is further to the left. The seed stockpile can be seen in the nook to the right. Everything is half empty because everything is under construction and we only have seven haulers.
Speaking of murdering dinosaurs, one of our guests has taken offense at this one's excessive breathing and unearned quantities of blood.

Having finally hauled and crafted everything that needs to be for the moment, the succubi decide to take a month off. It'll be good to get to know each other, our new bard, and the armed vagrants we encourage to loiter in our dining room.
Also yes, all three of the cages next to the dark elf cage contain female utahraptors. We can't start a breeding program even if we wanted to, but we can let several horse-sized carnivores eye up the heavily armored treat in the next cage.

The tavern is formally expanded to include drink storage (top) and eating/prepared meal storage (bottom) areas. It's likely we'll pull the tavern back and use the current tavern area as a barracks, but this is far from certain and we have no military at the moment anyway.

17th Timber, Late Autumn, Year 101

In the process of experimenting with renewable floor engravings, our broker/engraver/incubus produces some interesting pieces. Apparently a long six-sided prism is the symbol of our parent civilization, while ballista arrowheads are the symbol of our site government.
He also carved some giant grasshoppers just because.

Also if you're wondering why an undead dwarf has two "tail covers," it's because the Serpent Race mod adds shoes named "tail covers" as a stopgap to stop snakemen from getting angry about not having any shoes to wear.

On the bright side, bone beds! It takes 4 bones per bed, so it's not great for raw value generation but fairly trivial as raw materials go. Not that wood is rare when you're willing to brave the surface, but we're not so bones it is.
The downside is that a lot of vital furniture pieces can't be made of bone. Bone chests and cabinets exist, but containers like barrels or bins do not. We can get bone statues, though! Nothing says "good guys live here" like statues carved from bone.

New guests have arrived!
(https://i.imgur.com/IwXbhXj.png): "Oh please leave."
(https://i.imgur.com/ThbVbE4.png): "Yay! More cute hatchlings!"
(https://i.imgur.com/VbyJiqq.png): "With the valuable bones!"
(https://i.imgur.com/hg08f3h.png): "This is not going to be great for our reputation."
12th Obsidian, Late Winter, Year 101

It begins.
(https://i.imgur.com/CA1lnzX.png): "More visitors..."
(https://i.imgur.com/KI6EJqM.png): "Fewer visitors..."
Our pond dweller is fine, by the way. Her only complaint in hiding in a murky pond while the dead feast on the living is that it rains sometimes.
(https://i.imgur.com/he7rJyP.png): "Wait, she's actually a genius!"
The shadow beast continues its grim work.

(https://i.imgur.com/zsBRQZK.png): "Any wagers?"
(https://i.imgur.com/vmiZVXX.png): "Shadow beast."
(https://i.imgur.com/FAuIzZ1.png): "Shadow beast."
(https://i.imgur.com/ET9Eahj.png): "Shadow beast."
(https://i.imgur.com/zsBRQZK.png): "I tried."
(https://i.imgur.com/zsBRQZK.png): "He tried."
This is what shadow beasts are supposed to look like, incidentally. Including the bit about standing over the rubble of your settlement.
(https://i.imgur.com/0RpzfM2.png): "Hey no fair! How come the shadow beast gets a fancy title before I do?"
(https://i.imgur.com/AUBtGop.png): "How many outposts you turned into bone-strewn abattoirs?"
(https://i.imgur.com/GYb8iPy.png): "I'm working on it."
The wight has a bit of history, but hasn't managed to shank anyone here. Neither have the zombies. Obviously nameless wildlife isn't counted, but it seems like they're missing a few even so. Perhaps it's counted as natural causes if an undead fiend's steel claws cause you to carelessly misplace your blood all on your own.
Update 7: Misery
1st Granite, Early Spring, Year 102
(https://i.imgur.com/ZBVhJz8.jpg)
(https://i.imgur.com/lgwqcRw.png): "A new year and we're not dead yet. Yaaaay..."
(https://i.imgur.com/LCEMluD.png): "Could be much, much worse?"
We have a very modest shrine now.
Another victim.
I had no idea visitors could become unhappy about lack of food or prayer.
9th Granite, Early Spring, Year 102
(https://i.imgur.com/rZ5fdGK.jpg)
One corpse hits the floor, another wanders onto the map.
(https://i.imgur.com/7W43uXt.png): "AAAAAAAAA!"
(https://i.imgur.com/0cliY8U.png): "AAAAAAAAA!"
(https://i.imgur.com/fCh3OJc.png): "AAAAAAAAA!"
Near as I can tell, a hobgoblin bard wandered directly into the wight, who raised a nearby mastadon corpse to murder him with, then raised his corpse for good measure.
So now they have an undead mastadon.
12th Granite, Early Spring, Year 102
(https://i.imgur.com/i9CPE16.jpg)
(https://i.imgur.com/AIjJFti.png): "Yeah the rain is gonna be the least of your worries."
The hobgoblin from earlier meets the locals.
(https://i.imgur.com/Vrn8nhC.png): "Run faster!"
(https://i.imgur.com/GXmjjD4.png): "Nothing outruns The Organized Crescent of Vultures."
(https://i.imgur.com/fCh3OJc.png): "We can't really leave a fellow succubus out there, can we?"
(https://i.imgur.com/NW0zxrq.png): "I am NOT being eviscerated by something called The Organized Crescent of Vultures so a thief can die running to us instead of standing around."
(https://i.imgur.com/fCh3OJc.png): "But the traps would probably catch anything that tries to get in."
(https://i.imgur.com/SHUsWGv.png) *xylophone trumpeting*
(https://i.imgur.com/6QAJDEB.png)
(https://i.imgur.com/ZWXTCPJ.png): "Maybe we can make her a nice clear glass coffin, so everyone can see how hot her bones are."
In an attempt to dissuade further victims, I set the tavern and temple to only citizens and longterm residents. This has a curious effect: She starts making her way towards our entrance for some reason.
Unfortunately everyone's too busy to lower the bridge.
It seems like in the absence of a valid meeting area to path to, all two un-murdered visitors congregate around the default meeting area of the wagon instead. Fascinating!
A fake meeting area inside the traps fails to garner any attention. It does give me some good ideas, though!
Too late, the dead have found them.
(https://i.imgur.com/ZWXTCPJ.png): "We'll see about that clear glass coffin."
19th Granite, Early Spring, Year 102
(https://i.imgur.com/pNjYYYh.jpg)
(https://i.imgur.com/6wMoCsy.png): "Camels are kinda cool, right? As basic desert mounts?"
(https://i.imgur.com/FAuIzZ1.png): "Donkeys give better cheese."
(https://i.imgur.com/MFDzFJ4.png): "Snubnoses give more and better bones."
(https://i.imgur.com/AIjJFti.png): "That's the last of them."
(https://i.imgur.com/SlQ7bgH.png): "Think they'll go away now?"
(https://i.imgur.com/AIjJFti.png): "Ha ha."
2nd Slate, Mid Spring, Year 102
(https://i.imgur.com/F0EwBS5.jpg)
An orthus grows up! The original plan was to assign a warhound or two to each succubus as bodyguards, but that's taken far longer than expected. Plus several of them have animal preferences that are more dangerous anyway, like Misuril's fondness for living misery.
That said, their numbers are slowly growing.
Not nearly as fast as the dinosaurs, of course. Larger clutch sizes and reduced gestation time make them far faster at producing baby dinosaurs, though the longer maturation time will probably give more time between generations.
The camels are also doing okay, but since we don't actually need them for anything that's a fairly good pace. Occasional camelbone crafts are a valued addition to the dungeon!
16th Slate, Mid Spring, Year 102
(https://i.imgur.com/2whrjqv.jpg)
The zombies appear to be fighting very stealthy rats.
Speaking of odd behavior, something about setting the tavern to citizen/longterm only, or something about creating a secondary meeting hall, or something about linking that meeting hall to the tavern, appears to be interfering with leisure time. The succubi sometimes make merry as usual, but some of them are often sulking in their rooms or the like. Trying to path to that inaccessible meeting zone, perhaps?
Other times they party just fine!
3rd Felsite, Late Spring, Year 102
(https://i.imgur.com/MYUzXJ2.jpg)
More phantom rats!
10th Felsite, Late Spring, Year 102
(https://i.imgur.com/spJEjq0.jpg)
More snubnoses! There is much rejoicing.
We do now have a LOT of baby dinosaurs. Both the iguanodons and snubnoses take five years to hit full size, so it's a bit of an investment. They'll still be plenty big if we decide to start harvesting before then, of course.
22nd Felsite, Late Spring, Year 102
(https://i.imgur.com/094gFhD.jpg)
Tragedy and woe! Our clever aquatic bard has been found out!
Also zombies can walk on water.
(https://i.imgur.com/6QAJDEB.png): "Well so much for a water moat."
(https://i.imgur.com/XmeOG7n.png): "Magma is more imposing anyway."
The nagi breaks free but doesn't have anywhere to go. Opening up the tavern (with its satellite zone on the other side of the bridge) doesn't seem to interest her.
So falls one of the most cunning creatures we've seen so far.
(https://i.imgur.com/FAuIzZ1.png): "In fairness, that's not a high bar."
27th Felsite, Late Spring, Year 102
(https://i.imgur.com/48j7pnl.jpg)
(https://i.imgur.com/XmeOG7n.png): "Not useful."
(https://i.imgur.com/VbyJiqq.png): "AKSHUALLY this should help us train them better which means needing to train them less often, so it's pretty good if we want to keep handling semi-wild ones to use as bait."
(https://i.imgur.com/MFDzFJ4.png): "Another history lesson! Take that, ignorance!"
(https://i.imgur.com/lkYbY7p.png): "Ow! What'd I do?"
Our Reimu herd is growing, but they're all boys so we're not actually gaining any production capacity.
1st Hematite, Early Summer, Year 102
(https://i.imgur.com/gjwWVS2.jpg)
Summer has arrived! The ravening dead remain, and have been maintaining their siege for two seasons now.
(https://i.imgur.com/ZR0Tg8r.png): "They'll get tired soon, right? The dead are known for getting tired, right?"
12th Hematite, Early Summer
(https://i.imgur.com/8y8pzil.jpg)
It's a slow season, with the succubi spending a lot of time loitering and hauling. We do get another giant rhino-thing.
As you might have noticed, we're also running relatively low on drinks. Unlike food, which is an infinite byproduct of bone removal, drink must be specifically grown or imported. The latter was the plan before the undead siege hit, so we might have to do the former.
11th Galena, Late Summer, Year 102
(https://i.imgur.com/EEKZn70.jpg)
(https://i.imgur.com/i64s9pi.png): "I am important! I demand a window in my office!"
(https://i.imgur.com/zsBRQZK.png): "Why?"
(https://i.imgur.com/AUBtGop.png): "To prove I'm important, mainly."
(https://i.imgur.com/HKcsr4p.png): "You go ahead and prove you're important, I'll prove that I'm good."
1st Limestone, Early Autumn, Year 102
(https://i.imgur.com/bvF8xvX.jpg)
Autumn arrives. The dead still hunger, the succubi still party, the swarms of tiny dinosaurs still race around the dungeon for no apparent reason.
8th Standstone, Mid Autumn, Year 102
(https://i.imgur.com/BlkENsJ.jpg)
We get our first fully tame camel! I'm not sure why the sprite hasn't updated to an adult one yet.
Meanwhile, a zombie takes a shot at a raven. Maybe those are the mystery foes the zombies keep battling.
7th Timber, Late Autumn, Year 102
(https://i.imgur.com/4N8XoQO.jpg)
Our first Reimu has matured! I have no idea how useful War Reimus would be, but it'll likely be too funny to pass up.
19th Timber, Late Autumn, Year 102
(https://i.imgur.com/Wgl24cv.jpg)
We finally brew up some of the plants we've had lying around. This does require crafting pots first, as all our barrels are spoken for, but as you can see it doesn't take a lot to produce enough booze for our needs.
1st Moonstone, Early Winter, Year 102
(https://i.imgur.com/uiI6iMn.jpg)
The dead have now been sieging for an entire year.
For some reason the zombies keep getting knocked around by unknown assailants. Forest rats? Ravens? Naga river commandos?
10th Moonstone, Early Winter, Year 102
(https://i.imgur.com/8WV84Q6.jpg)
(https://i.imgur.com/6QAJDEB.png): "Are they... gone?"
One of the zombies is a bit slower than the others, but ambles off the map eventually. That leaves the hobgoblin and mastadon, which being battlefield recruits from the wight herself probably don't have a home to return to.
15th Moonstone, Early Winter, Year 102
(https://i.imgur.com/wgkvC2r.jpg)
For the first time in a year, the dungeon of Torturedaunt is unsealed!
The zombies respond swiftly... for zombies.
Both of our longterm guests take their chance to flee this prison they've been cooped up in. The succubus tries going south at first, but quickly changes course to avoid the unsavory locals.
(https://i.imgur.com/AYRgL8R.png): "That... probably would have worked on the whole siege?"
(https://i.imgur.com/AIjJFti.png): "Unless the bowzombies and elite wight started putting steel arrows through our party guests."
With the threat finally dealt with, The Black Cakes is once again open for business!
And with new and exciting decorations!
(https://i.imgur.com/STXe2WE.png): "Another prisoner, good! We can work together to escape this place, and take our revenge!"
(https://i.imgur.com/bOOoOAE.png): "Braaaaaaaaaaaains..."
(https://i.imgur.com/STXe2WE.png): "In short supply, I'm afraid! These cretins are as vapid as they are vile!"
(https://i.imgur.com/l1vbex5.png): "Flattery will only help you a little."
21st Moonstone, Early Winter, Year 102
(https://i.imgur.com/m66nWSp.jpg)
We instantly get a few more guests.
One of them instantly wants to join!
Normally I don't like taking visitors who are married, since they'll complain about it forever.
Wait.
Turns out our bard here was the lover of that thief we failed to save!
(https://i.imgur.com/IwXbhXj.png): "So does she wanna join us to get revenge on the dead or get revenge on us or what?"
(https://i.imgur.com/HKcsr4p.png): "Maybe she's in the market for new lovers?"
(https://i.imgur.com/AIjJFti.png): "Or heard we're really gonna need a wound dresser at some point."
Anyone want to claim a vengeful Hammerdame Doctor?
Update 8: Batman
24th Moonstone, Early Winter, Year 102
(https://i.imgur.com/cYWBY1V.jpg)
(https://i.imgur.com/6wMoCsy.png): "Welcome aboard! I look forward to having a minion that can fight the dead."
We shall sadly need to wait for her to become a full citizen to be able to do much (like lead a hammer squad or serve as a doctor), but if you want anything customized let me know.
Also if you give me a personality or the like she can shitpost like our main denizens!
7th Opal, Mid Winter, Year 102
(https://i.imgur.com/r3f62T8.jpg)
(https://i.imgur.com/Z5rQjeM.png): "Another one, eh? Creatures are lining up to serve as my loyal thralls!"
(https://i.imgur.com/XmeOG7n.png): "Are we going to accept?"
(https://i.imgur.com/0cliY8U.png): "We REALLY need a military."
(https://i.imgur.com/6QAJDEB.png): "Good news, you're in!"
She's uh... probably a better swordsnake than bard, but that suits us just fine.
15th Opal, Mid Winter, Year 102
(https://i.imgur.com/yAppI10.jpg)
The tavern has picked up again, and is attracting all sorts.
Including a cousin of that pikegoblin that got mauled early in the siege!
(https://i.imgur.com/zsBRQZK.png): "I do hate splitting up families, and it's not like we need a stonecrafter..."
(https://i.imgur.com/XfK9E6y.png): "I'm the master of that serpent you just recruited, and former master to two of the bards who died outside your walls."
(https://i.imgur.com/6QAJDEB.png): "Crap."
24th Opal, Mid Winter, Year 102
(https://i.imgur.com/C2KlJBY.jpg)
Cage traps continue to do cage trap things. Vargs are basically just unusually cunning wolves.
Another snake wants to join.
(https://i.imgur.com/acC1Ph0.png): "I really don't want to separate you from your husband..."
(https://i.imgur.com/uxTv7H9.png): "Allow me to avenge my uncle with mace and song!"
(https://i.imgur.com/NW0zxrq.png): "Fiiiiiine, anyone with a grudge against the dead can join."
(https://i.imgur.com/w4UXdN7.png): "My father is that stud incubus you hired."
(https://i.imgur.com/UiLCh0O.png): "Yeah, that'll do it."
(https://i.imgur.com/0RpzfM2.png): "Why is everyone around here better connected than I am?"
2nd Obsidian, Late Winter, Year 102
(https://i.imgur.com/T7OSxjL.jpg)
(https://i.imgur.com/Z5rQjeM.png): "Finally! A hobgoblin with no connections. Rejected!"
To celebrate, Mixel cuts a masterful large green glass gem.
(https://i.imgur.com/12MehBx.png): "Isn't it beautiful?"
(https://i.imgur.com/BEtyDqu.png): "It's worth a small barrel of cheese."
10th Obsidian, Late Winter, Year 102
(https://i.imgur.com/wmE4rD9.jpg)
Another hobgoblin is denied.
16th Obsidian, Late Winter, Year 102
(https://i.imgur.com/lEeYk4y.jpg)
A traveler confirms a bard corpse. I wonder if that shadow beast was missing kills because we hadn't confirmed the victim's death yet.
(https://i.imgur.com/6wMoCsy.png): "No."
25th Obsidian, Late Winter, Year 102
(https://i.imgur.com/qLRJwSx.jpg)
Rhino things!
1st Granite, Early Spring, Year 103
(https://i.imgur.com/cQC71Y9.jpg)
(https://i.imgur.com/JFV6c6T.png): "Not only are we not dead yet, everyone loves our tavern!"
We had several male vargs already, but now we've got some females if we want a breeding program.
(https://i.imgur.com/El3uqJR.png): "Do we want a breeding program?"
(https://i.imgur.com/GYb8iPy.png): *shrug*
9th Granite, Early Spring, Year 103
(https://i.imgur.com/xsPxn4j.jpg)
(https://i.imgur.com/fCh3OJc.png): "The dark elves are back!"
(https://i.imgur.com/NW0zxrq.png): "I knew it."
(https://i.imgur.com/CA1lnzX.png): "And they brought war mammoths."
(https://i.imgur.com/NW0zxrq.png): "Why do all of our enemies get war pachyderms?!"
(https://i.imgur.com/GYb8iPy.png): "Because our paraceratheriums aren't old enough to match them in battle."
(https://i.imgur.com/6QAJDEB.png): "Oh yeah."
The bridge is swiftly raised, but the invaders didn't particularly seem to be heading inside.
There are a surprising number of them!
They also seem to be moving as one, which is interesting.
12th Granite, Early Spring, Year 103
(https://i.imgur.com/GNKMXwY.jpg)
(https://i.imgur.com/fCh3OJc.png): "Nooooooo, the cute little compy!"
(https://i.imgur.com/acC1Ph0.png): "It died as it lived: Pointlessly and with a lot of bullying small things."
(https://i.imgur.com/CA1lnzX.png): "Great, a third war mammoth."
15th Granite, Early Spring, Year 103
(https://i.imgur.com/naf4dIa.jpg)
A very exotic guest shows up!
(https://i.imgur.com/rrR9nXK.png): "Shame he's gonna get skewered by dark elves."
(https://i.imgur.com/AIjJFti.png): "Or crushed by a mammoth."
22nd Granite, Early Spring, Year 103
(https://i.imgur.com/54mhip2.jpg)
More join the group. They must have had more squads hiding.
And more still!
(https://i.imgur.com/ZR0Tg8r.png): "That's a LOT of elves just to murder a dozen succubi."
(https://i.imgur.com/xBjd079.png): "We're pretty wealthy?"
(https://i.imgur.com/0cliY8U.png): "Would a military even help against that?!"
All this to chase a fancy wolf, incidentally. They've taken several shots (almost all of the dark elves are ranged troops), but none have hit.
24th Granite, Early Spring, Year 103
(https://i.imgur.com/roEsn5h.jpg)
And just like that, they flee to the north.
Their swordsman's a little slower than the rest.
(https://i.imgur.com/WdgmyOJ.png): "He's bringing up the rearguard, you cowardly wretches!"
(https://i.imgur.com/RNY1TPO.png): "If you're such a strategic genius, how come you got captured?"
(https://i.imgur.com/WdgmyOJ.png): "Because you burrowed into a deviously trapped chokepoint like a bunch of degenerate moles!"
(https://i.imgur.com/RNY1TPO.png): "You're jealous."

Despite progress on the secondary pen, we also need some ash for clear glass. Unfortunately this means all of our succubi- including the miners- immediately become obsessed with hauling logs instead of digging out pens.
With only seven laborers, this is a significant distraction!

The point is our main pen is overcrowded and it's probably causing things to meander out all the time, so stuffing all our vargs in a more convenient location is probably sound. They could be left to roam free, but they need either a training zone or pasture to be periodically retrained anyway.

The frog demons take a merry but short jog outside. I have no idea why; chasing something, perhaps? But everything I've seen chase wildlife has really gone for it, and I don't see how they'd notice anything from all the way in the tavern.

Speaking of useful animals, our frog demons are relaxing in the tavern. If my understanding is correct, they should start breeding soon, and those offspring will be treated as full citizens, then grow to maturity in three years.
Until then there's kind of a lot of them.

(https://i.imgur.com/he7rJyP.png): "I can't tell if that's something we want to advertise or not..."
2nd Moonstone, Early Winter, Year 103
(https://i.imgur.com/psUr4FA.jpg)
The invaders continue milling about...
But only for a moment. Apparently the changing of seasons is their cue to bail.
(https://i.imgur.com/Lz5Pa4w.png): "And stay gone!"
(https://i.imgur.com/AYRgL8R.png): "You think they decided it wasn't worth it or were running from the dead?"
(https://i.imgur.com/Z5rQjeM.png): "The latter. Get out there and do what you gotta do, we've got like a week."
6th Moonstone, Early Winter, Year 103
(https://i.imgur.com/RqDNZrN.jpg)
We have plenty of varg puppies to go with our orthus puppies.
We also have a frog on a mission.
A mission to wash all that invader blood off in a nice jungle pond.
(https://i.imgur.com/acC1Ph0.png): "So we really need an indoor bath..."
(https://i.imgur.com/ThbVbE4.png): "What kind of dungeon would it be without some hot springs anyway?"
8th Moonstone, Early Winter, Year 103
(https://i.imgur.com/y3MKHRz.jpg)
Something has savagely beaten an iguanodon hatchling. We have no suspects.
(https://i.imgur.com/6wMoCsy.png): "See? EVERYONE loves murdering iguanodons!"
(https://i.imgur.com/zsBRQZK.png): "Tempting, but we already have frog demons for brute strength. Denied!"
So departs one of our more unique guests.
(https://i.imgur.com/VbyJiqq.png): "It's nice to have lots of bones wandering around the dungeon."
Another applicant. This one is actually the apprentice to our resident hammer lady:
(https://i.imgur.com/zsBRQZK.png): "Even so, we wouldn't want to separate you from your spouse."
(https://i.imgur.com/XmeOG7n.png): "Begone, but come back soon?"
17th Moonstone, Early Winter, Year 103
(https://i.imgur.com/gzKdcgp.jpg)
A tiny lump comes into the world, and immediately sees an incarnation of agony hovering ominously over it.
(https://i.imgur.com/BEtyDqu.png): "Welcome to life! It gets worse."
Speaking of animals, we have more wild camels.
As well as some chattier livestock.
(https://i.imgur.com/AvTofat.png): "Cowardsss! Face me in an unarmed ambush after I've buttered you up with commerce!"
(https://i.imgur.com/Y7Bjipr.png): "What a sloppy operation! You didn't really expect to exterminate them with just that, did you?"
(https://i.imgur.com/dCFVuwr.png): "No fair! How come these wretchesss get mindless brutes and slavering houndsss to ssserve them?"
(https://i.imgur.com/pn2oF3o.png): "Guess all that throwing child hearts off a pyramid can't compare with endless debauchery, huh?"
22nd Moonstone, Early Winter, Year 103
(https://i.imgur.com/gNLozli.jpg)
(https://i.imgur.com/NW0zxrq.png): "Screw it, the dead aren't coming. Probably. Expand the pens!"
(https://i.imgur.com/BEtyDqu.png): "Bit late now, isn't it?"
(https://i.imgur.com/NW0zxrq.png): "Two months will be fine! Probably! Maybe there won't be a spring ambush!"
(https://i.imgur.com/Y7Bjipr.png): *ominous laughter*
1st Opal, Mid Winter, Year 103
(https://i.imgur.com/bq8rK7G.jpg)
Wild rhino-things are roaming around up here, so it's not exactly "safe" even when there's no armed ruffians around.
One of our guests takes this as a challenge. The duel ends inconclusively as far as I can tell.
12th Opal, Mid Winter, Year 103
(https://i.imgur.com/AjqYS1X.jpg)
We decide to let the vargs roam free because re-penning them is becoming obnoxious. There's now a lot of evil dog-things milling around the dungeon.
(https://i.imgur.com/12MehBx.png): "Speaking of evil babies...!"
(https://i.imgur.com/Ebfeoj1.png): "Soon we'll finally have a military!"
(https://i.imgur.com/l1vbex5.png): "That's a lot of brutish slaves to enforce our dark will."
(https://i.imgur.com/VbyJiqq.png): "TECHNICALLY those are citizens."
(https://i.imgur.com/ThbVbE4.png): "Technically we've beaten back several armed military incursions."
21st Opal, Mid Winter, Year 103
(https://i.imgur.com/cjvVYPx.jpg)
(https://i.imgur.com/UiLCh0O.png): "At this rate we might finish in time after all."
(https://i.imgur.com/Ebfeoj1.png): "We don't have to constantly retrain these ones."
27th Opal, Mid Winter, Year 103
(https://i.imgur.com/jCHpcnK.jpg)
Space has been carved, and the walls are plotted out!
(https://i.imgur.com/ThbVbE4.png): "I guess having so many baby animals wandering around gets in the way occasionally... but they're so cute!"
(https://i.imgur.com/Z5rQjeM.png): "More importantly, it's nice to see these layabouts helping with construction for once."
4th Obsidian, Late Winter, Year 103
(https://i.imgur.com/LKFPsSM.jpg)
(https://i.imgur.com/RNY1TPO.png): "Wow! The surface is even more terrible than I remember!"
(https://i.imgur.com/pn2oF3o.png): "Let's finish this and then hide some more."
The vargs do eventually give up on mauling the local wildlife.
I have no idea what this error means. My best guess was that a puppy was dead but not discovered yet, but there is a +Trained Varg Pup+ in the training area.
I also have no idea why a fire imp is attempting to do so. They're not supposed to be intelligent.
10th Obsidian, Late Winter, Year 103
(https://i.imgur.com/6EcnzmS.jpg)
(https://i.imgur.com/ThbVbE4.png): "Yay! The dinosaurs everyone likes have grown up!"
(https://i.imgur.com/VbyJiqq.png): "The VALUABLE bones grow ever more plentiful!"
17th Obsidian, Late Winter, Year 103
(https://i.imgur.com/44NHO3y.jpg)
Something mauls a tiny raptor. That is slightly concerning but it is VERY small.
1st Granite, Early Spring, Year 104
(https://i.imgur.com/8W4pPKe.jpg)
(https://i.imgur.com/Z5rQjeM.png): "Still not dead!"
(https://i.imgur.com/GXmjjD4.png): "We're living in crude stone rooms, wearing ragged clothes, and eating whatever iguanodon meat gets thrown together in a pot."
(https://i.imgur.com/NW0zxrq.png): "Still not dead!"
(https://i.imgur.com/El3uqJR.png): "So close."
(https://i.imgur.com/mXgIyM2.png): "Maybe we can finish it anyway?"
(https://i.imgur.com/acC1Ph0.png): "I know."
(https://i.imgur.com/BEtyDqu.png): "By the way, we're out of drinks and our only water sources are aboveground."
(https://i.imgur.com/7W43uXt.png): "Not like this."
(https://i.imgur.com/cE66s5r.png): "Everyone knowsss the best water is right here!"
(https://i.imgur.com/IwXbhXj.png): "Please don't get instantly stabbed please don't get instantly stabbed please don't..."
4th Granite, Early Spring, Year 104
(https://i.imgur.com/ffIbNsk.jpg)
(https://i.imgur.com/PAya4RE.png): "Thieves!"
(https://i.imgur.com/CA1lnzX.png): "What do we have that's worth stealing?"
(https://i.imgur.com/6I8ELxE.png): "Baby frogs?"
(https://i.imgur.com/PAya4RE.png): "Suffer, worm!"
Our metalcrafter, up at the top there, chases the thief down at the bottom.
Said thief does not appear to be enjoying this activity.
Acuamire and a varg then catch up to the unfortunate larcenist and begin savaging her.
Acuamire then gets bored and leaves the varg to finish the job. And yes, that thing to the upper left is the thief's severed nose.
The varg then finishes the job.
And is awarded a fancy title for it!
(https://i.imgur.com/PDoDBxq.png): "Probably won't be harvesting bones from that one."
(https://i.imgur.com/unjoAV6.png): "Nice to see we have a little bit of military."
Meanwhile, the drinks have run out and everyone is frolicking aboveground drinking riverwater.
9th Granite, Early Spring, Year 104
(https://i.imgur.com/vuDFaIG.jpg)
(https://i.imgur.com/acC1Ph0.png): "Nice as it'd be to have someone to work that fire clay, we'll have to pass."
(https://i.imgur.com/NW0zxrq.png): "Well if everyone's aboveground anyway, we might as well finish that greenhouse or die trying."
(https://i.imgur.com/BEtyDqu.png): "Any wagers on which it is?"
(https://i.imgur.com/SlQ7bgH.png): "But I don't wanna die of thirst."
Elsewhere, a VERY brave owl apparently has beef with a wild dinosaur several thousand times his size.
12th Granite, Early Spring, Year 104
(https://i.imgur.com/GXul1G8.jpg)
More random animal knowledge. Our herds are fairly extensive, but sadly our bonecarver has been too busy building things to process them.
Meanwhile, everyone continues traipsing about on the surface world, looking for not just water, but the finest water from the best spots along the river.
(https://i.imgur.com/IwXbhXj.png): "Stabbings are imminent I just know it."
19th Granite, Early Spring, Year 104
(https://i.imgur.com/FRVR8Hj.jpg)
A month after it was predicted an ambush would murder all life on the surface, the expanded pens are completed!
(https://i.imgur.com/6wMoCsy.png): "If anyone asks, this was well planned and carefully guarded."
(https://i.imgur.com/BEtyDqu.png): "Like that one serpent-man who made it all the way into our tavern and nailed someone in the ribs."
23rd Granite, Early Spring, Year 104
(https://i.imgur.com/UkAHthU.jpg)
Visitors really don't like wildlife. A wild snubnose gets harassed by a bowgoblin.
28th Granite, Early Spring, Year 104
(https://i.imgur.com/H7jNnfF.jpg)
Really, really, really don't like wildlife. Sugarsuitor helps! She's not even war-trained, she's just naturally bloodthirsty.
1st Slate, Mid Spring, Year 104
(https://i.imgur.com/iDRnfd3.jpg)
(https://i.imgur.com/UiLCh0O.png): "The well is finished! We're not going to die up here after all!"
(https://i.imgur.com/XmeOG7n.png): "And it only took us four years."
(https://i.imgur.com/NW0zxrq.png): "SILENCE! There was definitely a plan! None of you can prove a thing!"
Completing our accomplishments, our herds are now much more spread out and organized.
