Title: Collecting water
Post by: Sean Mirrsen on October 31, 2007, 06:26:00 pm
I couldn't help but notice something.

When you take a dip, you get covered with water. Entirely.
When you want to, you can drink that water. Licking water off your hand is the same as drinking it from a waterskin. Drinking water that covers your head is a concept I haven't really figured out yet. There seems to be so much water that covers you that you can go from thirsty to "too full" by drinking the water from just the upper body and arms. You can also drink blood that splatters over you. And any other liquid too. That's probably a bug. :P

I find it really cool. I mean, being able to lick the blood/ichor splattering on your armor, though your character finds it disgusting.
If it's a bug, I want to keep it.

More, shouldn't a little bath wash away all this blood?
My character had a bath after a cave, and that goddamn ichor was still stuck at his mace!

I know I'll feel stupid when I ask this, but how do I take a dip?

Whenever I try to enter water, it doesn't let me.  I even bought 8 ranks in swim.

Also, how do you get the water into your waterskin?  I'm tired of having to leave caves because I can't find anything to drink.

Alt+walk keys. You'll get prompted as to where you want to go. If you step into open space, you'll fall and get stunned. Or killed.  :)

Being able to lick liquids on yourself and others is kind of cool.  Modding your adventurer to be a blood-thirsty monster like a Werewolf would be fun to run around killing and eating people.  Also, this could have the potential to set up the groundwork for Vampires.

RE:  Swimming

Has anyone figured out how to swim ashore from a river?  I've lost two adventurers that way (2nd one was trying to swim from river to brook, which doesn't work).

Shift + Direction.

[Edit]

Hmm. Nevermind. I could've sworn that worked though.

Loading a saved game would be nice when we're testing out all these new features.

I've tried drinking blood off my armor and weapons, but it doesn't let me   :(

"No. That's disgusting."

. . . Erm . . . that's the point! My swordsman will eat beetles straight out of the ground, but he's too much of a panzy to drink a little blood!

That's pretty hilarious about drinking water off your body. Now if I can just take a swim without getting killed. Do you guys recommend jumping into one of those rives in a chasm?

The inability to get out of most pools or lakes or whathaveyou without using the travel screen is really annoying -_-

I've gone back to the old version because I'm getting so annoyed with this stuff. If I go back then I'm just going to use a race which can fly. Most annoying thing ever: went into a town where I was immediately attacked by the mayor and some drunks. After killing them I found that there was a one tile wide path out of the town hall, with a tree in the way. The alternative? Jumping down a cliff. The travel key wouldn't work as I was in a hostile village. ;_; Not being able to travel with stolen good exasperates the problem even more! That having been said, when this is all fixed it's going to be so awesome  :)

My adventurers with swimming XP have never had troubles getting out of water. Just Alt+arrow then move to brook/river/pond for entering, and then the same for getting out.
Notice that when you don't have any swimming skill you're stuck at the bottom, drowning, which can be pretty annoying.

Ah, and for the moment, modding a flying adventurer won't be really handly, since you'll be able to fly only when you have these mini-map that appears.

Eh? I can get in and out of water, it's just the walls that are everywhere that I can't get up -_-
