Title: Changing weapons?

Hi, sorry if the answer to this is obvious, but I can't seem to find it anywhere.
I was fighting skeletons and I dropped my sword, so my character went to using his shield as a weapon. I picked my sword back up again but I couldn't work out how to make him go back to using the sword - he just kept whacking them with the shield. shift-I just told me that "there is nothing interesting to do with the iron sword". Help?

Well if you dropped the sword it might mean that you broke the arm. But to get it out of your backpack remove it from the backpack into your hand.
