So there i was in the river fishing:

The tigerfish has drowned.
You pick up the milkfish corpse and put it in your Pig tail backpack.

When suddenly i felt something nibbling on my leg:

code:

The hippo bites You in the left lower leg!

I did not notice the evil hippo standing right next to the river and it got rough, real rough:

It is torn!
Your left knee has been sprained!

Lesson of the day?
Always look up when fishing.  :D

Anyone else who learned something valuable today?  ;)

Yes:

If you walk around a corner in a dungeon, and see TWO giant cave spiders next to a disembered & mutilated swordsman's body, don't take that one more curious step forward.

I chose an elf (Yep I'm an elf person!) and I decided to assault a goblin fortress, I killed about a hundred goblins (sorry I don't want to fit the whole log in here) and came out with only a bruised arm. Lesson of the day: Elves Rule!!

I agree.  Elves rule.  When dirty combat is in, they'll be the best for sneaking around and cutting throats, backstabbing and such things.

Goblin fortresses, though, definitely seem a lot easier than before.  Maybe because there are large open portions with goblins.  In the old version, you could be sneaking, turn a corner and get shot through and killed.

I had an axeman do great in a dark fortress recently. Right up until he decided to go into the underground portion... his first opponent was a goblin axeman. I learned a valuable lesson.

Rock may beat scissors, but steel great-axes beat iron halberds.

Very interesting, my friends!

That's kinda interesting that fish can drown . . . kinda ironic actually! I haven't seen any fish yet, where are they?

So some goblins have steel weapons now? Sweet.

Big Ouch!

So first it tears off your left foot.
Then it tears off your left hand.
Proceeding to disarm you (forgive the pun) by ripping off your right lower arm.
And only then it finishes you off by mangling your upper body...

I hope the Hippo got name after that...

I forget -- have I already told the story of being disarmed by an iron man? Damned thing took my sword. Then he USED it on my NECK.

And yeah, some goblins get steel now... every one in that fort had steel gear, but it didn't help them much. Most of them died of bleeding out after I cut off a couple arms and legs.

This doesn't exactly fit in, but I don't want to spam the main board with stories.

My lesson of the day is that if you want to use a weapon, don't give yourself a higher level in unarmed combat.

I can just imagine a dwarf jumping on the back of a leopard and strangling it to death.

My lesson of the day is dont try to light your clothes on fire while wearing them to keep warm. does not work.

-edit- I just found the two drunks I had with me when my other adventurer died. they got seporated from me by an ice wall when I was sleeping.

My lesson of the day: Beware of giant cave spiders.

In fact, run like hell if you see one!
