I did manage to learn that if you grab the throat, you can choke your victim, and occasionally I've gotten to the point where I can do a takedown or throw, but I haven't figured how I got to that point.
I've tried all sorts of combinations but usually don't get that far. I'd love some tips on stuff to try.
1) Hit them with your weapon until they fall to the floor/unconcious or give into pain
2) Put something so you have one hand free
3) Grab the head with a HAND (scroll from the bottom is best)
4) Rip out one eye
5) Rip out the other eye
6) Grab an upper arm with anything
7) Hold in a lock
8) Try to break it until it works
9) Grab the other upper arm
10) Hold in a lock
11) Break it
12) Release everything
13) Do the same for his legs
14) If there is ANYTHING left of him alive, grab his throat (using your hand)
15) Strangehold
16) Throttle him to death,
Obviously if its undead, there's no use in choking to death... since they can't die, in which case after you're bored playing, destroy them with your usual weapon.

Usually, I grab the enemy by the head, throw, and then gouge both eyes (grab head with hands to gouge--arms won't work). If they're still conscious, I break both arms before using a chokehold.
A lot of players raise that skill to legendary at the start of the game to get quick stats, but in fact it render the skill totally useless for the adventurer.
Nevertheless, the throw skill is bugged. Ah, well.
