Any named enemy will "stand before you".  If the creature can speak, it will threaten you and insult all/any it has killed.

Yeah, I got a bronze colossus.
There was a long list of names in his speach.   :D

Yeah, but the weird thing about this is that a giant rat can't speak, but somehow it lets me know that it killed Araca.  Or maybe I just sense it somehow...  My dwarfy-sense is tingling!

IG, the giant rat just can't speak and that's why you see ...'s because he stays silent. Out of the game though, you know that he killed one of your fellow adventurers in the past and it's a way for you to know if you really are fighting the one you wanted to go back and kill for revenge.  :)

I got the same thing out of an hydra once... The list was pretty long!  :p
