Interesting idea. When you say "Two days" you mean RL days, correct? Otherwise that doesn't give you a lot of time.

Either way, I'm in!  :D

Diary entry no1:
I have managed to recruit a swordsman and a drunk to help me, hopefully they wont die too soon...
I am headed towards a ruin called "Planescreams" to hunt down some undead

Diary Entry no2:
I have reached planescreams, and fortunately i cant hear any screaming-
-yet.
I can see figures moving in the distance, i cant quite make them out, i am heading towards them...

Diary Entry no3:
Am in a brief respite from the undead hoards. The drunk died, attacked by several zombies. My fellow swordsman is also a bit worse for wear:

I am ok, just a bit tired and one of those skeleton's has managed to bruise my spleen...

unfortunately, that was his last diary entry, the skeletons returned and he stayed to try and protect his friend, but to no avail...

My next adventurer:
An elf of Libaricote called "Nisa Snakesinches"

Entry 1:
I have recruited a fellow bowman to help me slay the nearby goblins...

Entry 2:
On our journey we were ambushed by a cougar, which was swiftly put in its place...
We have arrived at the dark fortress of Menacefroth, what lies inside we wonder.

Entry 3: As we entered the fortress, i opted to skulk in the shadows, my companion however just walked in and opened fire... He was killed very swiftfully and painfully. I am writing this hiding in a dark corner of the castle i have found a stack of coins and a staue which i think must have come from a shrine:

Entry 4:
I have got out of that place of evil, and have a bag of loot. i managed to struggle my way back to civilisation, and have found myself 2 more allies for the next adventure.

Entry 5:
The next goblin fortress i will be visiting is "Poisonpraerie"...

Unfortunately, that fortress was to be Nisa's undoing as he had accouted for the goblins, but failed to notice the troll that climbed the stairs behind him...

I'd like to sign up.

This sounds boring at first, but once the world is filled with dead adventurers, we'll have a lot of fun!

Suggestions:
If you deliberatly kill an adventurer, your session is ignored.
If you are really stupid (e.g. try to slaughter a purple goblin fortress with a naked mid-level adventurer), your session is ignored.
Could you remove the image in the first post or put it underneath the list of players?
Save the files as .png files. They will look better and take up less file space.

I figure maybe the idea should be to try to keep the charsacter alive, but taking on ever more difficult tasks? That way you don't get a bunch of dead nobodies.

there is no need to ignore sessions as a session goes on for a fixed time, and since no-one will be using that adventurer, why would it matter if they died? and as each person will be likely to get through a number of adventurers, you cant really ignore them.

I agree with your ideas Mayday, but sometimes your character will be attacked by something you hadnt counted for: The troll in the goblin Fortress for instance (the first fortress i went to was only populated by goblins)

Alright, downloading now.

EDIT:
The Trials of Nilun Hidedragon, Human Axemen

Day One
I have decided to write down my adventures for those who it might interest. With any hope, it will land myself a name in the history books. That is all I have ever wanted, honestly. To defeat the bonds of this mortal coil and be called a hero for centuries to come. The world needs someone. Minotaurs and goblins run rampant, and the kings hide behind their stone walls. It will be me, and me alone, who saves the world! I have practiced for many months, and now I'm ready to face this world:

I decide I will do a favor for the mayor of this town to start my journey. I find him consorting with... drunks! The scum of this world! Regardless, I must go on and talk to the man.

"H-hello. My name is... Ni-ni-ni-" I stutter nervously.
"Ni?! Ni?! Get on with it lad!" he yells.
"Nilu Hidedragon! I'm, uh... here to... h-h-help you!"
"Well, thank Armok! The Garnish council has a target they have been begging me to... well, 'dispose' of. An Ettin in a cave called 'Martyrhell'  It's a days travel to the west, you can't miss it."
"How's that?" I question.
"Oh, it's only covered in dead bodies and severed limbs!"

I stare at him, shocked.

"Hehehehe! A little joke lad! We actually haven't sent any of our troops against it. They are all lazy bastards. Look around, maybe you'll find someone who can help ye out!"

I nod, and leave the mead hall. Certainly there is another brave warrior willing to help rid the world of evil?

I just found a brave swordsmen by the name of Pabat. He said he'd be glad to help.

We were just attacked by a lion on our journey outside the town. With one swipe of my axe, I cut its stomach open! Wait... I think I hear another one-

The rest of the journal is empty, its pages soaked through with blood. Nimu's body was found a few feet away from it, his upper body torn to pieces and two dying lions nearby.

Expendable adventurers are all the stuff of comedy, so sign me up!
But I do want to know... In which world is this going to take place? And how is succession handled - via DwarfWiki? Apologies for all these questions, I've only played Single Player before.

It will all take place in the world started with.

Currently, it is being organized in this thread alone. If it gets big enough, I might transfer it to the wiki.

I have a better idea (IMHO)

Each person starts an adventurer, and plays it until s/he dies OR two days pass.

If two days pass, then the savegame is given to someone else, who moves the adventurer to a town and retires him; then starts a new adventurer themselves.

If you end up playing again, you get to continue with the old one.

Journal of Lide Hoistedirons, found in a cave of great danger.

Day 1

I've decided to go out and help people. I'm sick of staying in this town. The mayor had asked if I could go kill a minotaur who had been terroizing the farmers, and I agreed. I decide to go solo. I don't need any dead weight getting in my way.

Day 2
I have arrived at the cave entrance after a day's journey. I say my prayers and enter, halberd in hand.

I bring good news, journal. I was attacked briefly after entering the cave by hideaous frogmen, but they were weak and fell easily. The minotaur must have heard the commotion, as he screamed at me in anger and charged only a few minutes since my entry. A lucky strike from my bronze halberd and he was thrown backwards, and was easily dispatched. I'm going to collect my reward from the mayor.

Day 3

The mayor has cheated me! I return news of my favor, and he doesn't give me anything! Instead he gives me another quest, this time to kill a cyclops. Looks like I'm going southeast.

Day 4

I've arrived at Ancientdark. It is a place bereft of life, yet with great evil in its place. I fear for my safety. I have little choice now, however. If I flee back to the city, I will be called a coward. No, I must go forth.

(beginning of sentence smeared with blood) but I think I am in a safe area temporarily. My arm has been broken by a hideous giant bat, and I can no longer hold my shield. Yet I must stay, and kill the cyclops.

Oh Gods, I think there is another bat coming! Yes, there is! Please, gods have mercy!

(blood has made the beginning of this sentance illegible)and my chest is bleeding heavily. I can barely wright through this pain. I must try to flee! But... I may not make it. If you are reading this, then that would be the case. Please, bury my body if you find it. I already hear them coming, and I can crawl no further. I hope this journal can make it, after all, I have tried to help this world, and this would be the only way people can remember-

First adventurer.
My name is Spelguru Gastmarthad. Ransackaged. These are my journals.

*several pages later. Only boring travel details.*

Page 3
After long travels I had finally gotten to the kingdom of Omon Tosi, in the village of Thaduse. I wasted no time finding the mayor, a rather heavyset man by the name of Ostri Pakthran. I had come here to solve monster and undead problems. He said there wasn't any... Oh well, I shall begin travelling to a town on the outskirts of the kingdom. Ablide. Hopefully they have some problems.

Page 4
I have arrived in Ablide. By the gods, it's hot. I am once again speaking with a fat mayor. What do they feed their mayors here? Lard? The mayor requested me, on behalf of "The Deep Ivory Councils," to hunt down an undead monstrosity going by the name of Hoodscratches. Finally I'm going to see some action!

Page 5
Ah, some nice shade. These ancient ruins go by the name of Ejedtháb, and lie on the edge of heavy jungle. As I approach me, the smell of rotting festering flesh nearly overpowers me. I can see corpses. Dead, not moving, corpses. Their equipment seem to have been strewn all over the place. I swear this, I shall avenge my fellow adventurers, or die trying. I see some zombies shambling towards me. It's flailtime!

Page 6
I'm sitting in a tree in the jungle north of Ejedtháb. At first they came in disorganized shambling piles, one by one. One of them even had the ability to speak and yelled a challenge. He called himself Redgarnished, and declared he had killed someone named Imec Glimmermurder. That skeleton won't kill anymore living people again. But then, as I approached one of the buildings, a more organized group of skeletons appeared. Moving in a semi-organized group, and not getting easily tricked to get any stragglers to pick off with skirmish tactics, I had to withdraw.

My mission is still not completed. I plan to return by nightfall. And the fury of the spirits of those that died before me come with me!

Page 7
I can hear them outside. I am hiding in a building, but they do not want to enter for some reason. One did follow me though, and I knocked its arms off and sweeped it to the floor. I was about to crush it's skull under my copper boot when the damn thing managed to bite me in the heel, through a weak point in the armour. It's not a large wound, but it is painful, and slows me down. I need to return to town. I don't have any healing herbs with me. But on the other hand, this building seems to contain a large amount of highly valuable ancient crafts. Maybe I should stay a while, since the undead are reluctant to enter.

Page 8
The treasures. When I get back to civilization, I will never have to do anything ever again. I will be richer than a king! There are huge piles of coins, golden crafts and more. Tons of priceless jade artifacts. Enough writing, time to start looting.

Several days later, some scout who was sent to the ruins to give an update on what had happened to the adventurer found a torn apart backpack containing the journal. She also noted that there was several groups of skeletons moving about, not just shambling aimlessly, but demonstrating an almost packlike behavior.

Seriously, those guys were mean. They used an very mean tactic. I approach a zombie at the entrence, and as I approach it it somehow fans out. Turns out it was a stacked group of several skellies and zombies, all squeezing through the entrence to get me.

15th of Opal
My name is Ricdil Wanderyouths Man of Osin Tosi Born in the town of rabbitwoods, and today I heard a call. A call to do great things. A call to save lives. I heard the call... to be an adventurer. To Put my skills to use! to fight evil in it's own lair, not wait for it to come attack. To put my skills as an axeman (Expert axeman), and my minor training with sheild (Sheild user), armor (Armor user), and my own two hands (Novice wrestler) to good use. I will heed this call. I keep this journal, incase I succed, to tell of my glory from my own point of veiw, and incase I fail, so others can know what caused my downfall.

16th of opal
My friend Ura, a swordsman, has agreed to aid me on my quest. He informed me of Testedholes, and the giant who lived there, Gor Duskbust a Half days travel to the Northeast; of Coverpaper and  Overlabored, two abandoned dwarven settlement far to the northwest; and of the chilling atir Ivychucked, titan of Ironhell. He also amused me with the tale of foolish Tawki Boatdonkeys, who starved to death earlier this year and suggested we sheck out the capital at Farmsounded. Hammerman Bikda Silkenstraws and swordsman Thad Beastboars joined as well. I was shocked to discover the mayor had left the tavern and was talking to a merchant in a small building, completely sober. Truely this must be an omen about things to come... We decided to defeat the giant at testedholes. We leave today.

17th of opal.
We found testedholes today. Upon entering the cave we were immeadiately set upon by a giant toad. He broke my leg and hurt my left hib a bit.
Most of the help did a good job followin the leader but Thad got overexcited and ranoff on his own. Got killed by a snakeman. He's got no next of kin so I took his equipment, he won't be needing it anymore. Another snakeman attacked during this, but me friends took care of him. I'm just writting down this while we re SHIT! Gor just showed up. Say's he was the one who killed Gor. Don't worry buddy, we'll avenge you!

The journal is completely coated in blood.

We should offer a prize to the longest lasting adventurer... maybe start an adventurer hall of fame...

The exploits of my latest dwarf.

Not crazy. Not crazy. The sun is my friend; the other dwarves just don’t see it. I Roy Rageclash, have been gifted with knowledge of how good the sun is. The sun gives us life, so I give my life to the sun. First run away… far away…Wolves attacked me… I killed them all and burnt the corpses. Sleep time now…
Rhesus Macaques attacked during sleep. Added them to pile, then looked for more. Stupid monkeys.
More wolves. Killed them.  Brought bodies with me this time.
Cougar. If I can take on wolves I can take o…

EDIT: And the character after that's ELFsploits. Ahaha... bad pun.

Fale Berrychamber

We elves sometimes have one among us who can rise to great things. To protect forests from those who would seek to destroy them. Alas, I fear I shall not be one of those elves, but my companions and I attempt this soon. To bring peace is our goal, we will start at a human capital.
We enlisted the help of a human swordsman; we hope that he will help us to fit in at the capital.
Our journey was uneventful, save an attack by wolves.
Outside the main capital area there were BONES lying on the ground. Those poor fish…
We received a quest from the human leader to kill an undead abomination. Gladly I say…
One of my allies has been killed… I give in to starvation…

I've put this bloodline on the wiki. It can be found here, as The Adventurer Bloodyline.

Thanks! Now... when do I start the adventure mode? After Explodo?

Yes, when he posts the savegame.

I got the -3 inflate error.

After a dozen weakling I finally got a character strong enough to be worth outfitting properly. He ended up with his loincloth wearing his backpack or something, and when I saved the game crashed.

So, take over from the old save. I might try again later, and maybe I'll write up my story even though it left no footprint.

I'll take a shot at this, too, I think.

Well, as soon as Rinion uploads, I'm ready to go.
I'm not working these couple of days anyway, plus I'm sick, so I can go through a serious number of Adventurers. Assuming one doesn't become some almighty being in the process.

Yeah, my computer's harddrive is going crazy and I've sent it in for repairs. I'm talking on the school's computer. Sorry, but I'll have to skip this turn.

No problem. I'll download the save you got previously.
Maybe you'll be able to have a go once your computer is okay.

Savok, your save file is corrupt. I am continuing with Reign's file. From what I can see you didn't do anything after grabbing it anyway? That's what the wiki says, in any case.

Are you sure it is corrupt? Occasionally, during data transfer, a bit is recorded incorrectly. If it is in the wrong place, it will corrupt the file. The corrupting bit could have occured in your downloading.

I attempted the download around 5 times. Basically its got a bad header to the zip file, and only shows the dat file.
Also, the dat file isn't even really there.

Arg. It probably occured during the upload then, and is unrecoverable.

Not that it really matters.

Here are my first 3 attempts.
------------------------------

In the blighted land of Omon Tosi, one man stood out above the rest.
One man, having lost everything, has taken up arms.
That man is Ekul Donuqueh, and this is his story.
** Skills: Hammerman 12, Wrestler 10.

Date: 20th of Granite, 1053.
I came to this sad little coastal town, Gicastama, in the hopes of finding some sense of purpose. Maybe by helping the people of this town, I can put my own problems behind me. I can only hope.

I greeted the first person I saw, a Guard named Sota. I had him give me a rundown on the surroundings of this town. Apparently the town is in the middle of a plain, home to giant predators of all types.
I didn't see any on my way in, so I hope they are not too prevalent.
Why anyone would build a town in such an inhospitable location is beyond me.
Sota directed me to the Mayor and I bid him farewell.

I found the Mayor in the inn, amid a horde of drunks. What sort of Mayor was he to be spending his time thusly? Not a very good one, I think.
I approached him, looking for work. He made me buy him a drink before he'd even think about my request.
In the end, he advised me there were no problems in this little town. He suggested I travel south if I wanted my fill of adventure. At the mere promise of adventure, the eavesdropping Drunks Jal and Ado demanded to join me.
I figure they may come in handy if they ever sober up.
We began the trek south.

23rd of Granite, 1053.
A Giant Scorpion! If there are no more entries, you, dear reader, will know the cause of my demise! It comes for us!
**Blood soaks the rest of the page**

Game log (the relevant part):
The giant desert scorpion attacks You but You jump away!
You bash The giant desert scorpion in the left pincer with your bronze war hammer!
The shot glances away.
The giant desert scorpion charges at You!
The giant desert scorpion attacks You but You jump away!
The giant desert scorpion misses You!
You miss The giant desert scorpion!
The giant desert scorpion stings You in the upper body!
It is pierced!
Your heart has been pierced!
You feel numb!
You are feeling sluggish!
The giant desert scorpion stings You in the left upper leg!
It is badly pierced!
You feel even more numb!
-------------------------------
Things really went downhill after that. The giant scorpion was barely injured, while all three of the 'heroes' were struck down in succession.
=====================

In the land of Cadopesor, one man had had enough. It was time to say a firm 'No!' to the evil which threatened the world.
Taking up his pike, he headed into the nearby town looking for a way to help.
That man was Furi Cathiape, and this is his story.
** Skills: Pikeman 12, Armor user 8, Wrestler 8.

7th of Slate, 1053.
I find myself in the town of Jirdarmad, as I have many times before.
This time is different, though. I am not here to shop, or perform the duties of a guard. I plan on saving this town from what threatens it. Today I will speak to the Mayor!

On the way I met with the swordsman Ilum Oziizrol. I inspired him with my plan, and he agreed to join me. We met with Mayor Tislurerod, spending his free time, as usual, in the inn. Asking him how we could serve, I saw a glint in his eye.
He requested we slay a cyclops to the southeast, named Vera Thoserfibe in a place called Zokunthol.
We agreed, and the drunks Bikda and Artuk decided to come with us. They will probably die a glorious death, but I don't mind.
Leaving town, we headed southeast.

8th of Slate, 1053.
We have arrived at Zokunthol. We waited for the light of day before beginning our hunt. Hopefully, I will be writing this diary again.

8th of Slate, 1053.
We are victorious! I myself struck the killing blow!
We could not have asked for a better outcome. Although we were beset by ratmen and the Cyclops himself, we came through without any deaths.
Surely they will hail our names on our return.

9th of Slate, 1053.
Our tale inspired another swordsman, Otir, to join us!
The Mayor was also impressed, and tasked us with another quest. Another cyclops! This one to the northwest, in a place called Ana Espo. His name is Sat Imkethisir, and he's as good as dead!

10th of Slate, 1053.
We approached under cover of darkness. If this is my last entry, you will know why.

10th of Slate, 1053.
So much blood! The cyclops was on us almost immediately, surrounded by naked mold dogs, and vile ratmen. In spite of this, I slew the monster, but we lost Bikda and Artuk whilst making our escape.

11th of Slate, 1053.
The mayor was delighted at the news, though was saddened by the losses we took.
However, he has given us a new quest.
An ancient ruin to the southwest. Gulgudbengel. A known place of the restless dead. Apparently a more powerful member of their kind, Stralir Okoramac the Axe Lord, has been whipping them into a frenzy.

12th of Slate, 1053.
Under cover of night we approached the ruins. A ghastly mistake I fear. Already we fight for our lives!
... Dawn has finally broken, and only Ilum remains at my side. Otir has disappeared somewhere. I pray he is safe.
... Even as I finish writing this, we find Otir. Badly wounded, but very much alive. He isn't hurt so badly he won't heal, but it would be unfair to continue while he is in this condition.

13th of Slate, 1053.
We have made camp in the surrounding hills, waiting for Otir to get better.
For the time being, this will be our home.

13th of Slate, 1053.
Otir has elected not to continue with us. I do not know where he is going, for he remained tightlipped. We, however, shall resume our quest.

13th of Slate, 1053.
We arrived back at the ruins to the sound of battle! Otir is here, enraged at the undead horde which injured him!
... I was unable to save Otir. Ilum died to the savage attacks of the Axe Lord, carved up into so many pieces before I slew the monster!
I am badly injured... the horde is restless! There are so many!
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Furi died after being savaged by a large number of undead, after having half his limbs crippled and being unable to run away.
==============================================
Amongst the Elves of Libaricote, she was an oddity.
Not entirely at peace with nature, she saw many of its creatures as a Blight.
Taking up her sword, she was determined to forge her name into the history books. That name was Vicira Pariamala.
Skills: Swordsman 10, Shield user 6, Armor user 9, Wrestler 9.

26th of Slate, 1053.
I have determined to go to the Druid and demand a quest. I'm sure he'll understand my need to preserve our forests from the evils that lurk without.
Ola, my cousin, the Spearman, has joined me. He will be very welcome in our quest, as will Lulo, my cousin's wife. A very sound shot with a bow.

1st of Felsite, 1053.
We have travelled to the capital to meet with the Druid. After resting ourselves, we spoke to the Druid.
The Druid, in his wisdom, advised us to go Northeast, to the goblin fortress Stozustrogag, and slay Nako the Goblin child. How slaying a child will help the world at all, is beyond me, but I'm sure the Druid must know what he's doing.

2nd of Felsite, 1053.
We have reached the fortress. The place is bathed in blood and corpses. Clearly someone has done a number on it. The corpses are rotten, and untouched. What did this?
... Good grief, they set a Troll on us! A goblin maceman attacked us from the rear as we fought it. Fortunately, we were too skilled for them, and bested them handily.
------------------------------------------
After that, resistance grew incredibly strong. Goblins were literally pouring out of every corner. Vicira was the last to die, whilst trying in vain to save Lulo.

The goblins fortress was actually the same one that 4bh0r53n's Nisa visited.
It will be nicely softened up for whoever makes the next attempt.

To live by the sword, to die by the sword. That is the way of the swordsmen of Damsologeanthath.
One such swordsman was Ared Jalosman. A mighty warrior. A warrior with a big sword, a loincloth, and not much else.
Skills: Swordsman 13, Wrestler 9

22nd of Felsite.
I have arrived in Dunemdothan. It is time for my rite of passage. A series of quests, by which to prove myself! This town borders on the very frontier of evil, an ideal choice for adventure!

I journeyed to the Inn, where I found Mayor Nebo, who had the enlightened outlook that being drunk all the time was wonderful.
We struck up a friendship, and he asked me to slay an Ettin for him.
Delighted at this first task, I accepted!
Two of his drinking associates have decided to join me. While they will probably just get in the way, I can't help but feel that they may get in the way of things that would otherwise be attacking me. I took them up on their generous offer! Their names are Medi Rabinuse, and Mas Erthokote.

22nd of Felsite.
We reached the site before days end. Quietly now, we creep into the beasts lair!
...We met the creature, who declared itself as Uz Sluxngok. Its introduction was as short as the fight. I slew the creature, hacking of body part after body part until it moved no more!
Now we shall return, to feast!

23nd of Felsite.
A new day. A new quest. The Mayor, impressed with my work so far, enlisted my help in removing a Minotaur, based in the Northeast.
I set off immediately!

24th of Felsite.
We arrive in broad daylight. I have never faced a minotaur before, admittedly, but it cannot be more dangerous than the ettin I slew singlehandedly!
Into the shadows we go, in search of glory!
... once again I am victorious, though today's victory is grim. My compatriots lay dead in that tomb of stone, torn limb from limb as I fought for my own life, struggling against a moving statue of solid iron.
In the end I was nearly overcome by their sheer numbers, but I prevailed, and bear a valuable statue back to town.

26th of Felsite.
I am back in town. I have sold the statue and, to be honest, the weight of the coin is far easier to bear than the weight of the statue.
The Mayor advises me that I have solved all their problems. Looks like I am to travel again.

26th of Felsite.
Another day, another town. This one is named Roshuard.
The mayor of this town asked me to kill another Minotaur.
The Drunks of the town, courageous while not sober, offered to help. I declined, such amatuer help would only end in disaster for them.

1st of Hematite.
I have arrived at the lair of the beast. On my return, I shall update this diary once more with my glorious victory details.
... the minotaur was waiting for me. As though he thought he could beat me.
I smashed him to a bloody pulp. This kind of work turns my stomach, it's like beating children. Clearly I need a greater challenge.

1st of Hematite.
Quite the day trip. I have returned to town, and have visited the Mayor.
Yet again, he has given me the business of killing a minotaur. Seriously, people around here need to be less friendly with livestock.

2nd of Hematite.
Once again, I have reached the beasts lair.
I expect little resistance. I'm quickly gathering a distaste for such simple work.
... it was expected, only worse. Resistance was utterly futile. The few monsters I encountered en route made a terrible mistake in confronting me, and the minotaur itself was dealt with handily.

3rd of Hematite.
I have returned to Roshaurde, their hero. I am now known amongst them as Ared Jalosman Atlelthram Kethi, or Ared Jalosman, the Rough Persausion of Youths.
I don't approve of the name, but what can you do?
The mayor was ecstatic, but was unable to give me any more work.
But that's fine, his trifling tasks are no match for me, and I don't feel I have earned any heroic titular.
Instead, I will head for the capital, to see the King, and gain a great Quest!

5th of Hematite.
I have arrived in the capital, Ashroime, and am about to set foot in the keep to see the King! I am surprised at his willingness to see me, but I guess news travels fast about the new hero in the area.
... Another Ettin. How aggravating. I will perform the quest, but only as a prerequisite to greater tasks yet.

6th of Hematite.
This is the second time a monster has been waiting for me.
I dealt with the Ettin, but the way I was ambushed by his cronies... something foreboding is in the air, I think. He very nearly got me, with the help of his 'friends'. Some of them even chased me after I had killed their master, trying to hunt me down. They were slain, but something really wants me out of the way.

8th of Hematite.
I have spoken to the king once again, and I have finally got a task worthy of me.
Of all things, I have been asked to slay a Hydra. For this I will need some comrades to give me some room to work.
... I have gathered a few good men. Perad the Axeman, Cor the Maceman, Ile the Maceman, and Posek the Spearman. Surely with their assistance, I can slay this beast.
We departed as night fell, eager to do our glorious work.

9th of Hematite.
We arrived under cover of night. We set to work immediately. I have heard that Hydras are diurnal, so we'll see how true that is! Maybe we can catch it napping!
... Damn, the Hydra got the drop on us, we were swamped by its minions as it tore poor Perad's head off, and then attacked me.
With a single stroke of my sword, I sliced through several of its arteries, sending it into shock. I took the opportunity to deal with the swarms of enemies filling the room.

Our force has been sundered, and although I am perfectly fine, Cor and Ile are badly beaten. Both insist they can go on, though Cor can barely walk.
I admire them for their spirit.

11th of Hematite.
Finally we have made it back to town. The King was very impressed, but apologetic about the minor task he had in store for us next.
A skeletal spearmaster, far to the south. A task far beneath a hydra-slayer, but necessarry, the undead horde must not be allowed to break upon the world.

13th of Hematite.
I hate the undead with renewed passion. Ile and Cor lay dead, I would set a fire to consume all this, but this place has nothing to burn. The spearmaster we hunted has disappeared for the moment.
I still seek him out, the murderer of Cor.
... I found the bastard, and put an end to him.

18th of Hematite.
The King has given me another mission, this time a skeletal axe lord. From now on I work alone.

21st of Hematite.
The animals are more aggressive than usual. I wonder why.

27th of Hematite.
The animals are out of control. As I wander to meet the axe lord in battle, I am beset at all sides by all manner of beast. I have little difficult dispatching them, but it can easily boil down to a single lucky strike.

16th of Malachite.
I have finally found my way to the vaguely described place the King told me to go to. All that remains is for me to seek out this Axe Lord.

19th of Malachite.
The Axe Lord was insultingly easy to defeat. The undead horde proved more of a challenge, but only just. I have noticed the animals returning to normal however. I wonder why they kept attacking me?
The King has bade me to defeat a skeletal mace lord. I have told him that this will be my last quest in his service. I plan to retire on the vast fortune he now owes me.

22nd of Malachite.
The final showdown of my adventuring career. I had hoped that it would be more spectacular, but I suppose after a Hydra, nothing really measures up.

26th of Malachite.
Back in Ashriome. The King greeted my return with a great Banquet, and declared that I was free to stay as long as I like.
It's time for this hero to hang up his sword, at least until the itch for adventure returns.
---------------------------------
Ared has been retired, since pretty much anything in his way got smashed, and I couldn't locate anything huge.
If you want him on your team, travel to Wardears (Ashroime).
Interesting note: Ared was almost killed by a lone Grizzly bear on the way to his final battle.

The Axedwarves of Shinfeb are known for their ferocity.
This is the story of Tobul Dodokamud, one such Axedwarf.
Skills: Talented Axedwarf, Novice Shield user, Skilled Armor user, Competent wrestler.

11th of Galena. 1053.
Dear Diary. I have arrived back home in Edimthikut, after finishing my official training at the top of my class. There's word that the Queen has special work for me. I can hardly wait to honor my clan!
I shall travel to the Capital immediately.
------------------------------------------
Tobul was killed by a pack of harpies en route to the capital, at an unknown date.
=================================
This is the story of another such Axedwarf, named Led Ledmatul.
Skills: Adept Axedwarf. Competent armor user. Competent Wrestler.

1st of Limestone. 1053.
Oh, journal of mine. Grim news from the north. One of our brethren has been found dead, butchered by those fiendish harpies. They said he had the makings of a hero, but was struck down by overwhelming force.
It seems that once more I feel the need to don my armor and swing my axe. I shall set off for the capital as soon as I gather my Comrades, the lady Inod, a Hammerdwarf of great virtue, the mighty As, a Macedwarf of great courage, the stern Zon, an Axedwarf of great determination, and the lighthearted Reg, a Marksdwarf of impeccable aim.

8th of Limestone.
Oh, journal of mine, we have finally reached our destination after many days. Some harpies accosted us on the way and did me an injury, but I'm the one who still lives, so its not all bad news.
We met with Queen Besmar, the jewel of our nation, and beseeched her for a quest. In her great compassion, she has awarded us a task most vital. The slaying of a foul hydra.
We depart immediately for its lair!

8th of Limestone.
We have arrived at night. It is said that Hydras are diurnal, so we'll see how that goes for us. Maybe we'll catch him napping!
... We caught him napping! So surprised was he by our onslaught that he barely mounted a defence at all. I'm aware we got lucky on this one, but by Armok it was thrilling.

9th of Limestone.
Back in the Capital, the Queen lavished praise on us for our heroic work.
Her next task for us was to slay an undead human pikemaster. I have no idea why the humans so adored their necromantic magics, but here is a perfect example of why they are bad.
The undead menace must be stopped. We set out immediately.

11th of Limestone.
It barely seems useful writing about our victory today, so easy was it. We swarmed them and took them down with ease.

12th of Limestone.
Once again we have gained the Queen's good graces. Again, she told us of an undead menace. This time an undead human swordmaster. I swear, those humans will be the end of us all!

15th of Limestone.
Another simple task. It is our duty to do these things, but I wonder if it would not be better for some regular soldiers to do the work. We are clearly capable of greater things, as evidenced by our run in with the Hydra.

18th of Limestone.
Again, the Queen has praised our actions. Again, the task is an undead human.

21st of Limestone.
*teardrops stain this entry*
Disaster. My friends are all dead. My axe and shield are gone, stolen by the undead who then turned them upon us. I barely escaped, dragging my broken body into hiding while they finished off Zon, last of my comrades.
I only live for vengeance now. They will be destroyed. All of them.

24th of Limestone.
It was impossible for me to defeat the horde with just the bone I held to defend myself with. It was equally impossible for me to locate an axe in that necropolis. I have finally returned to the capital, where I am being nursed back to health, ripe for vengeance.

9th of Sandstone.
My body, hardy as it is, has healed in no time.
Amazingly, my search for a tradesman in this fortress ended in vain. It seems the capital is useless for anything but tasking us with suicide missions.
To that end I must journey to the humans lands, and trade what little I have for their weaponry.
------------------------------------
Led met an ignomious death at the savage teeth of a giant leopard
=====================================
Nedorbehal, a country known for its mighty Hammermen.
This is the tale of Osman Torudma, one such hammerman.
Skills: Adept Hammerman, Competent Armor user and Wrestler.

28th of Sandstone, 1053
Ah, a lovely warm day in Ersiona. The mayor has requested I meet him at the inn for a drink and a chat. I wonder what he wants.
... It's as grim as that, then. It appears that I'm the only one left in our backwater village who can save us. An Ettin threatens us all, and my task is to destroy it. May Armok watch over me.
While I have been away, things have gotten desperate. Our guards have all vanished. Mothers and Fathers have disappeared. Our town has many children, but only a few adults. This has to end. It already spells doom for our town, but maybe I can enact revenge.

1st of Timber.
I have arrived at the beast's lair. Time for action!
*The rest of the diary is soaked in blood*
---------------------
Osman was struck down by a giant toad that got the drop on him.

Ared takes up the sword once more.

14th of Timber, 1053.
I had imagined my respite would take longer, but here I am again, taking up the sword. The King has begged my assistance in a matter he is otherwise unable to take care of.
Once again, an undead menace threatens us. Evidently he intends me to clear out the threat for the entire country.

18th of Timber, 1053.
I have arrived at night. I no longer care for the time of day when completing such childish tasks.
-----------------------------
Amazingly, Ared was beaten by just a handful of skeletons. One got a lucky hit in, which goes to show, no matter how buff you think you are, something can always go wrong.

In Jasmukomon Cado, Wrestling was more than a simple pastime, it was more like a social event. As such, the country had many great wrestlers, all seeking to prove their strength.
One such man was Dik Arinmata.
Skills: Accomplished Wrestler.

3rd of Moonstone, 1053.
I have arrived in Aquosoti! This town has surely never seen MY like in some time.
I will prove who is the strongest in the land! And then I can have all that my heart desires! Haha!!!!!!
The Mayor has demanded that I slay a pesky ettin that has been bothering them! It shall surely prove no challenge!
The swordsman Cani, and the Maceman Kul, have been inspired by my strength, and seek to join me. Despite weapons being a show of weakness, I have allowed their request, in the hopes that maybe they will learn something and become proper men.

4th of Moonstone.
We have arrived at the beasts lair! This should prove amusing!
... Kul proved his weakness today! He foolishly sought battle with the Ettin on its own terms, and soon found his body shattered and his soul set free. Cani very nearly did the same, and had I not intervened, his soul would surely be free as well.
I bested the Ettin with no harm to myself. I am amazing!

5th of Moonstone.
We return to Aquosoti. Despite his incompetence, I have little doubt Kul will receive a hero's funeral, especially after Cani's embellishment.
As the Mayor has no more work for us, I am travelling to the capital. Perhaps there I will find a challenge worthy of my strength.

9th of Moonstone.
Today I arrived at the capital and met with the King. Clearly he seeks to test my skills before putting me on a real quest, as he has sent me after some paltry undead.
---------------------------
That was the last entry by Dik, on account of him being wrestled to death by Skeletons during the quest.
=======================================
Staddatenilbehal, a land protected from war by having a name too difficult for anyone to pronounce. And yet it is menaced by creatures of terrible nature.
Pak Apugemtha, a wily rogue, has been summoned to do battle with these dastardly beasts.
Skills: Novice Wrestler, Talented Ambusher, Talented Thrower.

22nd of Moonstone, 1053.
I stumbled into the town of Romorostfen, frozen out of my wits. It was mild when I left my home yesterday, but a blizzard changed all that.
I hurried to the Inn, where a fire was blazing.
Unfortunately, the Mayor of the town was there with his guards.
"Hello there, Pak." he says, grinning. There was no warmth in that smile, the man new who I was and undoubtedly knew of my criminal history.
The conversation went cold, as cold as the bitter wind howling outside.
The Mayor advised me that I would be required to perform services for the community, to make up for my crimes.
I had little choice but to accept his 'kind offer'.
To my increasing horror, he outlined the job he had in mind. He wanted me to kill a cyclops.
It seemed I faced certain death whether I accepted or refused.
But a light maybe gleamed at the end of the tunnel. I asked him if I could take some allies.
He laughed, of course, and told me that if I could convince someone to accompany me on THIS venture, I could certainly take them.
It was obvious he thought I would be unable to get any help.
And then he departed, leaving me to my drink.

In the end, I convinced only a few frequent patrons of the inn to join me. Istro, Posek and Sana. I hope they'll be more help than hindrance.
---------------------------
That was the last anybody ever heard from any of the four.
They were actually overwhelmed by 2 giant bats, a batman, a giant rat and a trog, all attacking at once.

Striding into Staddatenilbehal, a barbarian warrior, his muscles make up for what his brain lacks. Stupidity or Courage, in either case he has vowed to rid the land of the threats that ail it.
His name is Ur Apuari.
Skills: Professional Swordsman. Wrestler.

8th of Opal
This place crappy. Nearly killed by werewolf in epic battle on way in.
Ur is cold. This place freezing. Would like more clothes, but would be against will of gods. Asked Gods why they so mean, they just say it  would be breaking a classical paradigm. Whatever that mean.
Place name is Kethiabe. Not visit here on holiday again.

Will travel to warmer climates.
--------------------------------
Ur was savaged by a pack of wolves while attempting to reach a warmer climate.
=======================================
Another barbarian, this one an axeman in Staddatenilbehal.
His name: Das Ozijal.
His skills: Adept Axeman. Proficient Wrestler.

13th of Obsidian.
My retarded cousin Ur was said to be in this area. Why must I be the one sent to find him?
In any case, it has been quite some time since we heard from him, and my cousin's wife frets. I think maybe I shall just enjoy the countryside instead, say I looked for him but heard reports of his death, then go home and enjoy his wife. Sounds like a plan to me.

18th of Obsidian.
I saw a weapon I just had to have. With that in mind I have stolen it in the night, fleeing the city with my prize.

19th of Obsidian.
I have reached the town of Darmadcuthroz. Apparently my cousin came through here at some stage. They don't appear to like barbarians much, and they shun me at every turn. To spite them, I stole from them as well.

20th of Obsidian
I have decided to try and hunt my cousin down after all. I have arrived in Thrunited, a pissant town, with few no qualities.
They refused me shelter in the night, even in such weather as this!

Forced to fend for myself, I have lit a fire, outside one of their buildings, in the hope it will shield me from the wind somewhat.

... This place is cursed! Even as I write, the freezing winds freeze the inhabitants solid around me! I must flee at once, to save myself!
If this is my last entry, you will know the cause of my demise!

21st of Obsidian
I have made it to the next town onward. Itvidbusbel. I fear it may suffer the same curse.
It makes me wonder, are all these towns cursed by the wintergod, or am I the one cursed, bringing deadly cold from place to place?
The cold drains my sanity I fear, and I must find warmth.
Ur would say something crazy like wearing all these clothes breaks our classical paradigm, but to hells with that! I plan on surviving, even if all those around me fall!

22nd of Obsidian.
I have moved on to Onalide. The cold moves with me. Everlasting frost permeates my existance. As the harbinger of doom, you'd expect something a little more glamorous. Instead... this.
I have stolen clothes from those frozen by the curse. Their dead eyes damn me for it, but what can I do?

23rd of Obsidian.
I cannot go on like this. My curse has slain countless citizens, and I must hide myself away.
I have found a cave nearby, and it is there I shall spend my time trying to decide what to do.
I have named this place Vinenalitheme Nire, after a girl I used to know.
The caves occupants are putting up quite the fight, but they stand little chance against a seasoned warrior such as myself.
------------------------------------------
Thus ends the saga of Das.
An Ettin, the owner of the cave, took offence at his presence and evicted him from life.
If you ever visit Staddatenilbehal, seek out Vinenalitheme Nire, if you wish for a most dangerous challenge.

Also, I didn't actually mean for all those towns to die. It's the bug where it's so cold everyone in the city dies from having their feet frozen off.

Damsologeanthath. The country with the rolling hills and a name that rolls off the tongue.
It's people are a tenacious breed, one such man was Uthret Kashmezaro, a mighty axe-wielding hero-type, with lots of muscles, and little armour.
His hobbies include breaking things, fighting things, fighting things before breaking them, and breaking things before fighting them.
In other words, a man of limited scope.
Skills: Expert Axeman, Skilled Wrestler.

8th of Granite
I have arrived in Kafitdurpul. The people here seem unimpressed by my might.
There does not appear to be anyone here capable of putting up enough of a fight to prove my strength against, so I have determined to ask the mayor if he has a task to test my strength and courage!
... The Mayor has bade me to kill an Ettin. I have invited some of the local citizens along to watch the show!

9th of Granite
I succeeded brilliantly. Unfortunately, the fools I took with me joined in on the fight, and one of them lost his life to a mere minion! Deplorable!
I will send his family an insulting letter, and have detailed to them how to raise their sons to be strong!

11th of Granite
Back in town, I spoke to the mayor after posting the letter. He thanked me for my efforts, but sadly could not provide me with further work. On to the next town, then!

20th of Granite.
It has been some time since I wrote in this diary.
The men of Kafitdurpul who accompanied me to the Ettin's lair have elected to stay with me. We have made our way to the south west, and find ourselves in the border town of Bikdaathis.
There hasn't been much call for heroes since Ared wiped out most of the monsters in the area, but he never came this far south to my knowledge, and he's dead now in any case.
... After speaking to the Mayor, it appears I was right. This area has been plagued by a giant. I told the mayor he could consider his problem solved, and he was delighted.

Some of the townspeople here decided it would be a pretty neat idea to join me, and see my skill in battle. It worked out mostly okay the last time we tried that, so I gave the okay.

21st of Granite.
We arrive in the evening, and by the Gods, is it freezing?
It's so cold my paradigm has nearly frozen off. Maybe I should wear more clothes?
But still, a clouded sky, snowing gently... who could ask for a better backdrop for an epic battle?
... Not quite the epic battle I had in mind. Only two of my observers made it out alive. I cut off the giant's head as the killing blow, and intend to sell it to the highest bidder!
The sun has since set and it's even colder than it was before. It's thermal madness!

22nd of Granite.
We returned to town. Amazingly nobody was very interested in having a giant's severed head. I have resolved to simply enjoy it for my own sake.
To my surprise, my next task was also a giant. The Mayor really does have a giant problem.
... We have arrived at night. The stars are out, and the moon is nearing fullness. Not as cold as the last place either.
... We overcame the monster without incident, although one of my compatriots nearly died from being eaten by a toad. I saved his life, however, and I'm sure he will think fondly of me for the rest of his crippled life!
Most enjoyably dawn broke while we were in that stony lair, bringing light and warmth with it!
My other compatriot advises me that his friend is not in fact crippled, but simply greviously injured. It appears I will have to carry him back to town.

23rd of Granite.
We return to town, reaching it in the wee hours of the morning.
We hung around in the freezing cold until the town woke up enough to let us in someplace near a fire.
Once more I spoke to the Mayor. Once more the task was giant-killing.
They better start calling me the giant killer or something. I wonder if I could get armour made from their bones? Worth investigating!

24th of Granite.
We reached the site and immediately set about finding the giant. However, we became seperated, and one of my compatriots was killed. I will never forget dear... whateverhisnamewas.
This battle was marginally more difficult, as I was fighting several other enemies while slaying the giant. In the end, I got a bunch of deep scratches, and they got even deeper ones, if you catch my drift. Ho Ho Ho!
That said, I very nearly succumbed to my injuries. They are particularly painful, but I have no doubt they should heal.
My other compatriot should live, but he has lost an eye, and is crippled. Surely he could find work as some sort of... thing.
In any case, we head back to town even greater heroes than before!

26th of Granite.
Some things are worse than death. Like having to listen to my compatriot piss and moan about having his eye clawed out while a beast was eating his face for breakfast. You think I get any gratitude? Hah!
The people of this town have given my a title! The Ageless Red Subtleties of Testing. I don't get it.
Apparently, that was the last of their troubles, so they've advised me to seek adventure elsewhere, as a mighty hero such as me surely cannot be shackled to such a small town. And I agree with them!
We travel onward!

1st of Slate.
We have arrived in Gilmel, the first town we reached in the neighbouring Kingdom of Omon Tosi. My compatriot is still not over the whole eye thing, and frequently fakes blacking out to try and elicit sympathy. He finds none!
I have been talking to the local citizenry. This is my first time in this country, and I want to know a bit about what I am saving.
I want to know how they think, what they want, whether they like giant severed heads, for example. Basically, I know nothing of this place, so I'm talking to as many people as I can like a damn tourist.

In any case, the mayor approached me quickly, and requested I slay an undead fiend. Happy to oblige, I told him of my might and courage until his eyes glazed over. Then we travelled!

2nd of Slate.
We have arrived. Lots of blood stains all around on the ground. Not the best sign of things to come.
-----------------------------
Uthret died when he was mobbed by about 10 normal undead, a skeletal pikemaster and a skeletal swordmaster. Incidentally, I think these guys also whacked a bunch of other adventurers.

The Elves of Akeranarena had been done a mischief most foul, and their gentle souls cry out for vengeance. To fulfill this need, one of their best warriors, Lali Sabayarare came forward.
Skills: Proficient Spearman, Competent Shield user, Armor user and Wrestler, and Novice Thrower.

15th of Slate, 1054
I return home to find it in flames! The forest is alight! So many of our tree friends have perished! I must try to save them!

19th of Slate
The survivors are busy wondering why, and trying to lay blame. We lost many fine trees, and many fine elves, not to mention all the adorable animals, to the blaze.
The question demands an answer however, and as our own druid perished in the flames trying to protected her own, favorite tree, I will travel to the capital.
The others are trying to decide where to go. I agree with them, there is no living here now. This is a cursed place!

21st of Slate
I have reached the Capital, and have spoken with the Druid. She advised me that our enemy was some human skeletal pikemaster. I have my misgivings about why undead would light fires, but I will do as she directs for now.

22st of Slate
I have arrived at the site, alone, armed only with a spear. We'll see how that goes for me.
--------------------
It didn't go well.

7th Felsite, 1054

Diary, sometimes being a professor of archaeology has unfortunate consequences. I was passing through Clawdream, of my own Autumnal Confederacy of Trim, when the mayor asked me to go explore a cave and kill a giant. Apparently, my experience with dig sites and my knowledge of history is supposed to qualify me for this bizarre quest. I don’t even have my trusty whip with me, so I guess I’m going in unarmed.

I didn’t feel like going alone, so I stopped in at the bar for a drink. While I was there, I picked up some help: Tura Mokunxidel, Jasmuk Shibbiumac, Tol Halirene, and Osman Smenreescu. I don’t think they’re quite sober, but they’re good to have along.

That was the last entry, found at her room in the inn. Her body, accompanied by those of four local drunks, were found in a cave to the southwest, covered in mudman muck and cave croc bites, and with many broken bones. The giant continues to terrorize the countryside.

---

Lesson learned: if Wrestling skill is equal to your highest weapon skill, you start weaponless.

21 Feliste, 1054

Today I go forth from Cogirtir as an explorer. I believe the mayor is looking for questers, but that’s really not my style. I’ll just wander around a while; I have food for several days.

22 Felsite

Was attacked by a jaguar and lion in the forest outside town They were pathetically weak; I feel sorry for them.

23 Felsite

I’ve come to the ruin Alkocsinur, to see what treasures it holds.

The place is swarming with undead humans! Mostly skeletons so far. I was mobbed and came out of the fight much the worse for wear, so I’ve retreated to the forest to recuperate.

The journal is badly weathered when it’s found several weeks later. Rigoth’s body is in bad shape, with several broken bones and both eyes gouged out. A large pack of skeletal humans is still shuffling around the area.

---

More to come later; going to bed for now.

Sure you can!
First, I suggest you read the Bloodline Games page on the wiki.
I suggest that you have one copy of the game per world; in terms of disk space a save is much larger than the game, and it makes it a lot easier to backup your saves.

Since it will be over a week until you can play, this is all I'll put in this post. If you have any further questions, please ask.

There are many great beasts in this world... many great challenges. One man, living in Nedorbehal, would dedicate his life to these challenges! He dreams often of being the one who would best the giant predators of the land.
Armed with his preferred tool of the trade, a whip, he sets off to become a great and renowned hunter!
Woge Blazegod
Proficient Lasher - Skilled Armor User - Skilled Wrestler
----------
-7th Felsite, 1054-
My journey to put myself with the ranks of the great hunters of the land begins here in my home town, Ramulthomod. I should start up some conversation and inquire as to the location of something that would pose a challenge for a hunter such as I.
A guard I struck up a conversation with has told me the surrounding area holds leopards... perhaps one of these great cats will pose a thrilling challenge! I set off immediately! Though before I leave, the guard also tells me the area may  hold Jaguars. I will keep that in note, for they too would be a thrill to hunt.
-9th Felsite, 1054-
I have explored the region for a while. The great cats have remained elusive... but I have found a hippo! Surely felling such a great beast will earn me some praise!
==========
The journal ends here.
Apparently whips are only good for tickling hippos.

One dwarf would stand above the rest. One that would heed the call to be a commando. Armed with little but a crossbow and supreme wrestling skill, he would vow to vanquish all that would stand against the supreme might of Shinfeb!
Stukos Razoraura
Talented Marksdwarf - Proficient Wrestler - Ambusher
----------
-22nd of Felsite-
My training is complete. The dwarven elite have deemed me worthy of graduating. I am now a dwarven commando. For my first mission, I was told to seek the Queen, and ask what she may require of me. I am ready for anything! The capital is far to the south, so I shall set out now.
-23rd of Felsite-
Interesting. I have found a cave hidden in the hills on my journey. I will keep that in mind later, perhaps whatever task the Queen will ask of me may take me in there. The name certainly isn't welcoming... "The Legendary Angry Hell".
-25th of Felsite-
Found yet another cave on my trek to the capital. The name is also not as welcoming. "The Natural God-forsaken Heart of Subtleties".
==========
The journal ends here. Again.
This commando apparently slept through the tiger fighting class.
(I also somehow forgot I was using a crossbow. heh.)

After a short period, a messenger had found the badly mangled corpse of a fallen commando. A newly trained commando has been given the task of the previous, seek out the Queen and give her any service she may provide.
Dodok Rockwood
Talented Marksdwarf - Proficient Wrestler - Ambusher
----------
-10th of Hematite-
Hah. I got word some fool tried to beat a tiger to death his his crossbow. Unfortunately, it seems that fool had a mission, and now I have been sent on his mission. I know I will fair better than that idiot. I set off now to get my first task from the Queen. From my training fortress though, this is going to be a long trip. Not looking forward to it.
-18th of Hematite-
Bah. Pack of wolves. They will be crushed underneath my foot like the dirt they are!
==========
Yep. You guessed it. Wolves apparently don't like being called dirt.
I need to try some smarter combinations. This isn't working at all. :P

A scout soon happened upon the body of the recently fallen commando. The scout barely got away with his life. The Dwarven Commando squad has recieved word of this and has begun training their new recruits slightly differently. This is the tale of one of these new recruits.
Unib Pridesword
Adept Swordsdwarf - Proficient Wrestler
----------
-2nd Malachite-
Finally... I have graduated from the Improved Commando Training Program, at the top of my class no less! My skills with the sword were unmatched by any of my classmates. My first mission is simple and below a new commando such as I... I am to perform the duties of a simple scout. I do not argue that it is important to the nation that any threat be discovered and stamped out. I will set off on my mission now.
-3rd Malachite-
I have happened upon a cave to the north of my fortress... it is called the Scar of Groves. I'll sneak around inside and see what might lurk within.
-
A pair of glowing eyes nearly happened upon me. This is a home for those petty thieves, the kobolds! I will stamp out their miserable existance... and make some nice coin for myself on the side!
==========
Apparently the cave was home to a kobold bowmaster. He didn't take too kindly to my presence. I didn't even get it's name!

The Commando Training Program of Shinfeb is coming under great criticism. Many recruits are dying to simple things that are but a petty nuisance to dwarfkind. The leaders of the board meet and have a heavy discussion. They will attempt one last batch of recruits... if they fail, the commando squad will be disbanded in disgrace, known only as a way of getting rid of excess dwarves. Datan Siegecastles was one of those last batch of recruits.
Proficient Swordsdwarf - Proficient Armor User - Shield User - Wrestler
----------
-16th of Hematite-
Bah! I will never forgive my parents for putting me in this damned Commando unit. Apparently they don't care about the horrible reputation they have! Recruits have been dying left and right to tigers, kobolds, and wolves... and what do they do? They put me into it and say it'll make me strong. If anything it's gonna make me a damned steaming corpse. The leaders of the unit say I have potential though. The best of my kind... if that can be called a compliment. I guess they mean I'll just die slower than the rest of them. I'm told to seek out the Queen for my first mission. No recruits have even survived this mission... talk about horrible training!
-19th of Hematite-
Well, I've done what no recruit before me managed to do. I actually killed a jaguar. I'm probably going to get promoted for doing something as simple as this.
-20th of Hematite-
I have made it to the capital alive. Remarkable. They even promoted me to full Commando level just for accomplishing this simple feat. I laughed to myself slightly. Now, let's see what the Queen has in store for me.
-
Interesting. Some fellow named "Reg Helmslabor" was killed at a a ruin called Lengthslid, far to the south. Now I am tasked to do the job he failed to do... kill a human pikemaster. Sigh. I only nod to show I will accept the task... I do not know if I'll actually do it. Going there will certainly spell my death. If I fall, I want to bring this damned Commando Training Program with me. No more young dwarves will have to die needless deaths like my own. I suppose I should set off now. If I ignore this task, I'd probably be severely punished... probably at the mercy of the Hammer. I'd rather take death over being imprisioned in the lackluster jails of our nation, at the mercy of the Hammer.
-23rd of Hematite-
I have arrived at the ruin. My death awaits me here... but I will try to fight my damnest. I may not approve of my parents sending me to my death, but if I can help it, I will try to avoid it!
-
Already have I shattered many skeletons and cloven zombies apart. They keep pouring from the ruins towards me... I fight for my life. No sight of the pikemaster.
-
I remain in my position in the forest surrounding the ruin. No sense charging in like a fool to get ambushed and surrounded by those damnable skeletons. Instead, I let them come to me. Fortunately for me, undead are stupid.
-
with my dying breath... i curse that damn commando squad... why, my parents... why did you send me to my death?...
==========
One of the skeletons that came out killed that previous adventurer, so it seems it was pretty decently skilled. Once it wrestled me to the ground, it was all over... since about 4 others came out and started taking me apart.

The other recruits met similar fates. That was all it took to bring the Commando Squad to its knees. Funding was cut and the leaders of the squads were either completely exiled or stripped of their military rank for poor management. However, the leader would not take defeat this easily. He managed to convice random dwarves to be trained in secrecy to become commandos. Severed from the government, they swear to protect the dwarven nation regardless of what they may think. One recruit believed the Commando Squad could achieve glory again. His name is Erith Newcraft.

The master has deemed me worthy of striking out on my own. I must avoid contact with the nation I have sworn to protect... lest they learn of the Squad's attempts to renew itself. I will set out to find a threat to my nation.
-8th of Galena-
I have located a cave nearby, called Strikecave...
-Argh... I've been badly wounded by a fire man inside the cave, but I got the beast. I must escape...
-9th of Galena-
I escaped safely, and soon stopped at a Commando outpost a distance away from a dwarven fortress. They tended to my wounds... and I set off towards a cave I have just arrived at, called "The Shadow of Love".
-
Argh. More fire men. I am uninjured so I might explore further.
==========
A titan took great pleasure in folding me into a basketball shape. Sounded pretty brutal.

Disheartened, the leader of the Commandos cannot even persuade anyone to join his order anymore. All but his most dedicated "Elite" Commandos have left to rejoin the dwarven nation. He soon takes up his axe, along with his friends, to defend the Commando name to the last. This is the story of Cerol Helmstrike.
Talented Axedwarf - Shield User - Competent Armor User - Competent Wrestler

-22nd of Galena-
I have had enough. I will prove to my nation that the Commando Squad will work. I will be aided by my remaining elites... my close friends. They were with the Commando squad from the beginning, and they have sworn they will be with it to the end. I have been told to meet them at the halls of Racedbust.
-
I have located Iden Urnbusts, Zan Whipsteels, and Morul Wheeledtwist... commandos of Axe, Crossbow, and Sword. I'm told my remaining friend was chased away and is hiding out at nearby Raysbooks.
-23rd of Galena-
Fikod Tomenets, the other Axe commando, has joined me. Having located all my friends... we set off to the ultimate goal. We are going to vanquish the ruin the Queen sent one of our last commandos to. We will succeed where he failed.
-6th of Limestone-
We were ambushed by some wretched Ogres on our way to the ruin. Zan is horribly injured, and we thought he might not want to continue, but he soon comes around and wants to press on.
-9th of Limestone-
We have arrived at Lengthslid. A most saddening sight, we can still see the rotting corpse of the commando we had sent here. Vengeance will be ours!
-
We fight with our lives. Morul sustains heavy injuries but the undead keep coming, and we keep striking them down. We make a stand right at the entrance to their wretched ruin... skeleton bones and zombified limbs flying every which way.
-
Disaster. Fikod was beset by a skeleton... the foul thing bit him on the throat and tore it right out. He died a commando though, for with the last ounces of his strength, he shatted the fiend's body into a fine powder, before finally succumbing to his wounds. If we survive this, he will have a place of honor with us always.
-
A skeleton has tried to demoralize us by proclaiming its accomplishments. No, instead it filled us with rage... it is the slayer of Datan! I charge after the wretch while my comrades deal with a zombie.
-
It has been destroyed, though due to no small effort from my friends... but the undead just... keep... coming...
-
Morul the sword commando is nowhere to be seen... we assume he has been seperated and ambushed by the fiends. It is just me, Zan the crossbow commando, and Iden, the remaining Axe commando... we are on the verge of exhaustion, bearing many wounds of our battle.
-
The undead surround us. We will fight to the last.
==========
Sadly, one of the skeletons had the wise idea to strangle my throat. I quickly passed out and died. The marksdwarf was already pretty mangled up so he went down fast... and the last axedwarf took about 5 minutes to die despite being unconscious and having 9 skeletons beating the hell out of him.
We fought long and hard but this ruin is absolutely swamped with skeletons.
No idea where the hell Morul went. He got beat up pretty bad but I searched the entire gamelog, he did not die.
In other notes, that evil skeleton named "Datesuns" is still alive. He killed some adventurer some time ago, as well as two of my commandos on this adventure.

Just for fun: Going to make up a quick scout adventurer. I want to find out what became of Morul, and add a few more things to the legends area since this adventurer does not show up yet.
I feel the call of history. I am but an archaologist, but in these times, everyone who travels must carry a weapon, or have an armed escort. Having some handy skills at the hammer, I choose the former. The story of the Commando Squad fiasco intrigues me. I hear rumors that the leader and elites of this squad led a brave charge on the ruins that have troubled our nation in the past. They have never been heard from again.
My name is Reg Canyontoe, Archaologist and Historian.

I set off on my journey to find out more of the Commando Squad. My first task is to stop at the capital and inquire the inhabitants about any of the surroundings, perhaps I will find some information I need. I had already poked around the guild halls in a few fortresses, and the abandoned campsites they used in their more recent times.

-15th of Sandstone-
I have arrived at the capital. Let's see what I might be able to learn here.
-
Nothing interesting, time to set off for the ruins.
-19th of Sandstone-
I have reached this ruin. I will begin exploring... hopefully I can sneak past the undead that swamp these ruins.
-
Aaagh! I've been spotted! I smash one apart but I am immediately sieged by at least ten of them. But as this happens my adrenaline rushes and I enter a martial trance. I injure a few more and run as fast I am capable, escaping this ruin. Night is falling anyway. I cannot seem to find what I want yet. I did succeed where the others failed, however, I have located the pikemaster. No way am I going up against him though, not with the legions of undead at his command.
-
I return shortly after. (oddly enough it is still the same day despite being daylight now) I devise a sneaky plan. I start fires at various shrubs and trees around the ruins in hope of accomplishing something.
-
Sure enough, a few skeletons are starting crack and burn in the heat... but so am I... I suffer quite a few burns, and the area is already quite hot... I will travel for now and let the area simmer down a bit, since it's quite inhospitable. Before I left, I did see the corpse of one of the axedwarf commandos. I didn't bother to check who it was, since the area was heavily patrolled by undead (I forgot to use look :P)
-22nd of Sandstone-
I return, the fires having burnt out. Not sure how much impact it had on the local undead population, but hopefully I have more working room.
Turns out the corpse belongs to Fikod, the Axedwarf Commando. His corpse was dragged into a muddy pool by the undead. This leaves yet two more axedwarves to discover, including the leader. The swordsdwarf and the marksdwarf also remain in an unknown location.
-
Gah. I have been spotted. I now fight for my life as undead shamble towards me. Fortunately they are terribly slow and I can easily outrun the zombies... and skeletons don't move terribly fast when they're missing a leg! I've survived scratchless so far.
-
Getting tired. The undead just keep coming... I whack the legs off incoming skeletons and make a run for it. This place is a hellhole.
-23rd of Sandstone-
I return to the ruin... yet again. I'm starting to get annoyed. But I am persistant.
-
YAAAAGH! I have been discovered. EVERY skeleton and zombie is now chasing after me! I flee the ruins as fast as my short stubby legs can carry me... but paydirt. I pass a mudpool, and lying in it are three corpses. The Axedwarf Commando Leader, Cerol... and next to him, the Marksdwarf Zas, and the other Axedwarf, Iden.
-
Freedom! Despite being chased down by the entire legion of undead... I somehow managed to flee into the woods where the undead would not pursue me. I thought I was dead for sure. There is still a mystery though... what has happened to the last member of the Commando team? Morul's corpse has yet to be seen. My search of the exterior of the ruin is nearly complete... just leaving the interior of the ruins. I need a break though... but on a hunch, I decide to stop by the capital one more time, and then go to the fortress where Morul was last seen.
-25th of Sandstone-
I have arrived at the capital and find nothing of interest... so I set off for Racedbust... far to the north.
-8th of Timber-
A fairly long and uneventful journey has brought me to Racedbust. Let's see if I might find out what I need to know here.
-
After some searching, I turn up nothing. I think I will retire here for a short time and continue my studies within the safety of a fortress.
==========
Surprising that this is my only adventurer to survive this long. I'm surprised how well he did in the ruins, I might dust him off and have him clean up the rest. With some time and sneaking he could clean out the entire ruin... but by then all the corpse will have rotted. I think Morul survived but I'm not sure where he ended up.
Sadly, nothing I did here actually affected the legends screen yet. I don't think Morul killed any named creatures so I don't think he can earn himself a place there.
Really though. This ruin is thick with undead. I dunno about that place mentioned earlier, but damn this place has a lot of undead. When I was running I had no less than 40 undead on my tail, and at least 5 of them only two tiles away... it was quite interesting. :P

Ezum Arrowstone - Resumed
----------
-21st of Timber-
The dwarves of our nation are growing increasinly worried about the ruin, Lengthslids. I have related my stories about horrible undead, and narrowly escaping with my life. But now I am to return. I may have been a historian, but now I am more of a warrior than anything. This undead threat needs to be vanquished! I will travel to the capital, and seek the Queen. She will undoubtedly have me perform a task there as well.
-4th of Moonstone-
I have arrived at the capital. Sure enough, the Queen would have me kill the zombie pikemaster. I choose to go alone, employing my stealth and my agility to keep myself alive.
-7th of Moonstone-
Ahh, the fresh smell of corpses and ash in the air. This place is almost like a home to me now!
-
This time I plan on leaving with a tidy profit as well, so I swipe a few random goodies laying about with hopes of selling them for some improved gear... I am not certain but there may be a human town nearby.
-
After shattering some skeletons with ease, Datesuns stands before me. He claims to have killed some adventurer long ago... and was the slayer of three of the commando squad... including Cerol, their leader. This will be an interesting fight, but he is facing me alone... so I have the advantage!
-
I dance around the few cronies he has... and with but one swift blow of my hammer, the wretch explodes into shards of bone!
-
*pant* *pant* this is hard work alone. I smash apart countless skeletons, dance around zombies like they're standing still, but they keep coming... but finally, after obliterating a zombie, I have an opportunity to rest!
-
A skeletal mace lord! This should be interesti- *HURRK*
=====
Yeah... um, I'm kind of surprised too. I was doing so well then suddenly this bastard just beats me across the map like I'm a novice. And the ruins still have like 80 undead in them, including the zombie pikemaster, and likely another named undead somewhere.

For years I have dreamed of exploring the lands near Cadopesor, my nation, and earning myself riches and fame, but I lacked the training... I lacked the discipline. But now, my training is complete. I have trained long and hard with the fearsome weapons known as hammers, and now I will live out my dream! Though... my name has earned me a little ridicule. Most people think I'm a barbarian that is all muscle and no brain...

-20th of Moonstone-
Well, I'm going to seek the mayor of my town... perhaps he will have a task of me!
-
A minotaur? Sounds like an interesting challenge. I know little of the beasts but I've heard of far worse creatures. I set off now on my journey for fame!
I was inclined to beat the Mayor with my hammer a few times, since he was starting to condescend to me... bah. Once I have a title all this will be past me.
-21st of Moonstone-
I arrived at the cave and started looking around its depths. The minotaur wasted no time coming to me... I face off against it now!
-
With but a few swift blows of my hammer, the minotaur is reduced to a lump of mushy gore! I set off back towards the town to tell of my accomplishments... bringing the corpse since undoubtedly they will not believe me.
=====
A fucking gremlin killed me. What the hell. Some batman came out of nowhere to help it tear me apart as well. And yeah, before anyone mentions it, I wasn't carrying the corpse when I was actually attacked.

Okay, retry. Same story as above.

-23rd of Opal-
Damn... immediately when I enter the cave, I am attacked by two snakemen. Fortunately some swift strikes of my hammer cure me of my snake problem. Now to find myself an ettin...
=====
Found him... and he had friends. Didn't help at all that he broke my ankles.

Take four. Last try.
Name: Loge Stabman (I swear this did pop out of the RNG)
----------
-7th of Obsidian-
I grow tired of the town life... I seek adventure! I will go to the mayor today and see if there is anything he would ask of me.
-
Bah. There is nothing troubling my town. So, I shall travel to the next nearest town. Perhaps one of the border towns has an issue that they need a helping hammer with!
-9th of Obsidian-
After some searching, I found a town in need of help. Apparently some fellow named "Lide Hoistedirons" was killed in a nearby cave called Ancientdark, by a mere troglodyte. I am told to dispatch the beast... sounds like an easy enough task!
-10th of Obsidian-
It seems this Lide fellow managed to clear a good portion of the cave. I'm going to guess he was on his way out, and the trog got a lucky shot. The rotting corpses are still lying about. (heh, I took this time to look, and this is Gaul's character. All of the corpses were left exactly the way they fell.).
-
too... many. a giant bat... a mole dog... and the cyclops that undoubtedly Lide was sent to kill. And a ratman... I am done for.
=====
Painful way to go. That cave sucks, so many mole dogs. And yeah, those bats are brutal too.

I am a noble elf of Akeranarena... I uphold my duties to my people! I am a scout. Scouts fulfill the most important role in our nation, besides the druid, of course. We patrol the borders of our forest territory and report anything that may endanger the forest!
Name: Amala Raptorsubtle
Talented Swordsman - Armor User - Proficient Wrestler
----------
-23rd of Obsidian-
WHAT!? WHAT COULD HAVE DONE THIS UNSPEAKABLE HORROR! This town... Craftscrow... it has been incinerated and ransacked! The majority of the ground is completely charred and all elves are dead... the bones of dead elves litter the landscape... I can bear it no more. I leave this town at once and set off... perhaps I can find who did this... this... horror! (looks like someone had a case of pyromania, I found it like this)
-
I will not rest. Vengeance for the dead will be had... but there is noone to blame. However, there are two ruins that have been known to exist to the north. Perhaps the undead have learned to use fire... those abominations against nature should be culled regardless if they are the culprits or not.
=====
Meh. Zerged by skeletons.

Okay, I'm done. I didn't really get as spectacular of an adventure as I wanted, though I liked the commando thing. That last battle as the leader was actually damn cool.
I hope someone finds out whatever happened to Morul, though. He's not dead, I'm fairly sure of that. I'm gonna bet he probably just ran off to some fortress and retired or something, if NPCs can even do that sort of thing.

Anyway:

That was me, who incinerated Craftscrow, for one of my stories.
In any case, the entire town was useless. No quests on offer, plus they were elves. I check these things before I incinerate a site.
There was a single elven swordmaster, but... why would you even bother with one of those?

Heh, just curious. It could've made an interesting story if my elf had a longer lifespan. :P

Ah, I read through your adventures again. I didn't even recall this, and by chance, I had spawned in the town you incinerated. Was quite a discovery for me, heh.

Rozmo Asrimispi of Cadopesor (Human Female)
Talented Maceman - Shield User - Skilled Armor User - Wrestler

10th Granite, 1055
=============
Today I begin my life anew as a bold adventurer, valiantly righting wrongs and thwarting evil wherever it may rear it's ugly head.  I may have had trouble holding a job in the past, but maybe this time will be different.  The pay is good and as long as avoid the more dangerous caves the risk should stay low enough for it to be worth it.

After finishing my training with the local guardsmen I walked up to the Mayor, ready to be given my first task.  Thankfully he had a relatively easy one to prepare, I simply had to travel a short distance east to the cave of Ancientdark's to kill a naked mole dog named Stormflew.  It almost seems too easy, I mean how hard could it be to kill a dog?  I made to leave and he warned me to be wary of other dangers within the cave, as another adventurer by the name of Lide Hoistedirons was killed by a creature named Lightwasp some years ago.  While he seemed sincere I hardly think that the death of one adventurer several years ago was worthy of much worry.

Just to be safe though I decided to take my friend Umil with me.  He was a swordsman I met him while training with the town guards and he seems to be able to hold his own.  That's what I would have liked anyway... but when I told him of my quest he simply laughed in my face.  The nerve!  Not to be put off by this I decided he shouldn't deserve the pay I would happily have shared with him anyway, and decided that my longterm friend Gostrim would suffice.  Like me she's had much trouble finding a job in these dark days and spends many a night drowning her sorrows at the local inn.  Upon hearing of my task she offered my full support, and was willing to assist me in accomplishing it.  A little too willing perhaps...  Ah well, the day is young and she could not have possibly started to drink this soon in the day.  Onwards to Ancientdark's!

11th Granite, 1055
=============
I reached Ancientdark's with the sun high in the sky.  The heat was almost unbearable, but I pushed on with my noble duty.

As I approached the cave I noticed the entranceway covered with blood, I pray it is not of prior adventurers...  Entering the cave foes a lone trogolydyte stood in my path, but with trusty Gostrim by my side I was able to dispatch it with ease.  If this is the best this place has to offer then I almost pity them for their inevitable doom.

Disaster!  The troglodyte was just the beginning, we were soon beset upon by all manner of beasts.  One of them got Gostrim, tearing out one of his eyes.  He lies by my side now barely holding onto consciousness as I try and deflect any further blows aimed his way.

A Cyclops has entered the fray, declaring himself to be Tuxxu Asnurusle.  They never told me there'd be a Cyclops!  I didn't sign up for this, I thought I'd only be facing a lowly mole dog, not some terrible beast such as this!  Worse yet he appears to be wielding a... loincloth?  Oh Armok, I knew this adventuring business wasn't pleasant work, but I never thought I'd witness the horror of a naked Cyclops charging towards me swinging his undergarments above his head.

-------------
Rozmo soon discovered that a loincloth can make quite the deadly weapon.  Few adventurers could suffer a worse fate...

Ketas Muksmenre
Human Male
Adept Axeman - Shield User - Skilled Armor User

24th Granite, 1055
=============
A new day dawns as I stir in my bed.  After many years in the apprenticeship of the local wood cutters and carpenters I have decided that this life is not the one for me.  Careful not to wake my master I quietly slip out of bed fully clothed from my preparations the night before and leave a note on the table, explaining my abcense.  Gathering my meagre positions together I collect my trusty Axe and head out of the door, ready to begin my career as an Adventurer.

I approach the town of Nedorbehal for my first stop.  Hopefully the local authority within will be able to be able to offer me some hints as to what wrongs need doing.

Success!  I have been tasked with slaying a minotaur named Semor Dyecrimson in the nearby cave of Smutshadows.  Truly this shall be my finest moment.  I called out to the other patrons in the bar, to see who was brave enough to join me in this quest, yet only one man walked forward for my call.  Well... one man walked forward and another 3 stumbled after him.  His name was Pabat Sanautag, a Hammerman from the nearby town of Gorgemountain and he was also looking for adventure.  The other three men appeared to be extremely drunk, but refused to leave his side, wanting to join in on one of his adventures that he appeared to been regaling them with for the past few hours.  And so as a party of five we left the town for the cave of Smutshadows.

27th Granite, 1055
=============
We approached Smutshadows under the cover of night, using the light of the full moon to guide our way.  As we enter the cave we encounter snakedmen and mud men on all sides, and it's not long at all before I encounter Semor Atirthestar.  He yells out a battlecry as he charges towards me.  The battle is tremendous as his minions appear from all sides, slaying two of our number, but we are ultimately victorious!

1st Slate, 1055
=============
We arrive back in town ready to receive our reward for slaying this beast.  Upon our return he hailed us as champions and while offering no material reward I felt that his gratitude was more than enough.  For now at least...  He then solemnly informed us of an adventurer by the name of Osman Tundramaw who used to travel these parts.  It seems that two years he entered the of Martyrhell and was struck down by a giant toad by the name of Sunderocean.  He then bade me to kill this foul beast so that this stain on the town's history could be cleaned by avenging his spirit.  Not feeling that a slaying a mere giant toad was much of a challenge I happily obliged and set off immediately unto my new quest.

2nd Slate, 1055
=============
We arrive at Martyrhell, our remaining drunk sobering up partway and making his way back to the inn.  The battle was relatively uneventful, with few wounds sustained as we soon fought our way through the mudman that filled this damned place, and their leader the vile toad named Sunderocean.

3rd Slate, 1055
=============
We arrive back in town, fresh from our battle and ready to begin yet another quest.  Little did we expect that we would be sent back to Martyrhell once more, this time to slay an Vicira Dayyourths, an ettin that lives on its lowest depths.  We gathered our courage and immediately set out to once more brave the journey back to Martyrhell.  I am happy with our progress so far, but I am uncertain as to our chances against an ettin...  Nethertheless, an adventurer never falters in the face of danger.

4th Slate, 1055
=============
We approached the cave once more, this time more wary of what awaits us.  After fighting our way through countless mudmen Vicira himself stands before us roaring a battlecry as he charges towards us.  A truly ferioucious battle is fought, with neither mine nor Pabat's blowing penetrating too deeply.  Eventually a lucky strike by Pabat shatters one of the ettin's feet forcing him to his knees in great pain.  While he's distracted we quickly set upon him, shattering his limbs and breaking his body until he can move no more.  And thus he was defeated.  Worrying about what other dangers may lie within this very cave I decide that before we make our return we should ensure that we purge this cave of any remaining creatures to ensure the town of Nedorbehal will not be threatened any longer by it's evil presence.  It was but a tedious task after slaying the mighty ettin.

7th Slate, 1055
=============
Once again we returned triumphantly to town, this time satisfied that no further threat shall ever come of Martryhell, and with our pockets filled with the treasure we found within.  Why the beasts had pieces of armour scattered all over the lower floor I do not know, but their confused acts are my gain.  After speaking to the mayor I am informed that we have successfully dealt with all the dangers that lay within this region.  It appears that we must travel to greater places if we wish to seek more adventure.  But for now the day is late and we have spent much time travelling, so we shall rest.

-------------

Sadly that's all I have time for tonight.  I'm amazed my second adventurer has survived thus far, but that's likely thanks to his hammerman buddy pounding the crap out of absolutely everything in his way.  I'll keep playing him tomorrow and see how long he lasts against tougher opponents.  Just a shame I don't have more time during the evenings right now to play more...

Hahahaha. Now I'm going to have to check my game log and see if the Cyclops beat me with it too.

It might even be my lioncloth from that Stabman guy I did.

I'm going to guess the mole dog you were sent to kill was the one that got the killing blow on me, heh.

Edit: HAHA! It is my loincloth! At least, if it's a cougar leather one. But the cyclops did grab at my loincloth during the fight. Though it's kinda kinky and creepy at the same time... the cyclops was female.

Yeah, it was a cougar leather loincloth.  After checking my log it seems it was female after all, but somehow that doesn't make the mental image much better...   This is one of those few cases where boobs do NOT improve a situation    :(

We travelled south for many days, eventually arriving in the town of "Tonguejuggled".  A strange name for a town, but who am I to judge?  With the scorching sun bearing down on us we headed straight for the inn for a some of the local alcohol to soothe our parched throats.  Surprisingly enough we were fortunate to bump into the Mayor while there.  Barely having time to even sit down he immediately pleaded for our help dealing with a Cyclops that had been plaguing the merchant trade route to the north.  Not wanting to make the fatal mistake of underestimating such a beast I decided it best to find a few of the local adventurers to assist me in this quest.

It didn't long at until until I'd found Sota Demacitu the Axeman, Ethro Pucsipkat the Pikeman, Ador Cilstipath the Swordsman and Ani Kasnebo the Lasher who hastened to join my side at the promise of adventurer.  As a full party of six we decided it was time to head out.

============

After this point I was ambushed on the way to the cyclops and have my group was decimated by a single hippo that the Swordsman just HAD to try and fight.  It then proceeded to tear out the throat of my seemingly unstoppable hammerman and the limbs off the others.  Only Ethro Pucsipkat, the pikeman, survived the battle, running away after losing his pike in the hippo.  A few others tried to run away, but it seems the hippo had a posse.  Can't say this is how I pictured my adventurer dying, then again I thought the same thing about the last one too.

==============
Life is slow here at Shinfeb.  Crime is non-existant and life has gone of for so long without a hammering order I can no longer remember when the last time was...  I can't take it anymore!  The world is filled with injustice, and somewhere out there must be someone deserving of good ole' fashioned Dwarven justice, and I shall be the one to deal it.  And so I gathered together my warhammer and armor, forsaking my personal possessions and left to hand out harsh justice wherever it may be needed.

I considered heading to the capital to speak to my Queen regarding wrongdoers, but realised that if they knew of any in the area I would have been summoned long ago.  Instead I decided to head out into the wilderness to find my own way, to find those that would hide away in caves.  Feeling an evil wind coming from the south, I decided that would be the place to start.

27th Slate, 1055
==============
Barely a day into my journey I was set upon by harpies!  They soon felt the taste of my hammer as I dealt them the pain they so richly deserved.  It felt good to once again swing my hammer with all it's might into the weak flesh of the villainous, sending their frail bodies sailing across the floor and their heads arcing through the air.  Truly the Queen was a fool to relieve me of my hammering duties just because of a few small "accidents".  This is clearly what I was born to do!

1st Felsite, 1055
==============
I have stumbled across a cave that was not shown on the map.  As is Dwarven custom I declare it to be forever named "Ivoryhell the Free Pick" in remembrance of slaughter of many an elephant in the legendary fortress of Morulingtak many a moon ago.  Truly there has been no greater affront against the long-fought enemies of Dwarvenkind.  But enough with the musing, I must head onwards in my search for sinners.

I fight my way through feable rats and moles, paying them little heed as they are smashed to one side.  Before long I come across a Cyclops.  Obviously such a beast is clearly evil and deserving of death, but then it has the gall to threaten me with death.  Me!  A noble Hammerer!  Such an act cannot go unpunished!

===============

Evidentally such an act CAN go unpunished as poor Dumat is soon smushed into oblivion by the Cyclops with help from a pair of mole dogs that show up from nowhere.

I'm going to try one more character before I post the save for the next guy to take his turn.

Ok, here's the link to the new save.  I thought I was going to have time to do another character, but I forgot about a little thing called Oktoberfest that's going on.  Would've liked to do more characters, but ah well I had fun nonetheless.

Woge Ramacpib, "Woge Lizardchirped"
Human of Omon Tosi
Axeman
Shield user
Expert Armor User
Novice ambusher

Woge trained for many long years under a harsh trainer.  Seeking to train the next generation of adventurers, he taught them one skill above all else:  How to stay alive, even when faced by superior weapons.  Woge became very fond of heavy armor, and practiced drilling every day in it.  While her fighting abilities did not fare so well, she hopes to develop them in time.  She has trained in the axe, so she can remove the limbs of foes that trouble her.

Walking into the town of Rabbitwoods, she checked her gear.  An iron helm and gauntlets, to protect her most important vitals: A head to think with, and arms to kill with.  Besides that, she wore bronze and copper; in time she would replace that copper battle axe, but it would serve for now.  And later...she would wear fine plate, to compliment the rest of her bulky gear, instead of the mere chain she wore now.

Satisfied, she greeted a nearby peasant who she learned was named Quispep:  "My name is Woge.  I've just come from my training, and I am ready to do battle.  Where can I find foes?"

"The Oaken Elder Fingers is half a day's travel to the southeast.  Savage beasts call it their home."  A mountain range, which contained a dangerous cave.

"Then I shall clear it out!"  First the hills, and then, later...the cave itself, though she knew not what dwelt within.

Before noon, her axe blade tasted hostile blood for the first time.  A cheetah stalked through the plains, with hungry eyes set on her!  Woge crept closer to it...when suddenly it spotted her, and ripped its teeth through her stomach through a gap in her chain armor!  Ducking behind a tree, she prepared to strike back...and when the cheetah pounced, she cut right through its lower spine, and knocked it to the ground!  With another hack, her axe hurled the cheetah high into the air, and clove it asunder.  Woge rested for a while and kissed her hand axe...She was still mostly in one piece, and if she had taken the first swing, she would have come out without a scratch.  But there were more beasts to kill, and she would have to keep moving if she was to reach the hills by nightfall.  After a time, she got back to her feet, and set out again.

Unfortunately, night fell before she made it to the mountains, and she made camp.  When she got to the mountains in the morning, she discovered much to her dismay that they were simply unclimbable, and so she decided to patrol the foothills instead to ensure that no monsters climbed down to threaten the town.  A score of days, or a score of heads, whichever came first.  And then...reconnaissance of the cave.

Wet and cold and waking up in the middle of the night in need of water, Woge approached the southern fork of the river in the Smooth Swamps, and got a sudden feeling that she was being watched.  Creeping closer to the water, she heard a rustling behind her:  A jaguar!  Woge crouched down, with her axe at the ready.  This time she would strike first.  It stalked forwards and she charged, missing at first when the beast sidestepped, but then she swung around and connected her axe blade solidly with the jaguar's head and brought it to the ground!  Further hacks mangled its legs, and only after she had removed two in rage did she hear the second jaguar right behind her.

A ferocious whirlwind, Wode ducked and spun to bring her blade to the jaguar's leg, bringing it down as well:  She then cut straight to its liver, hacked its tail off, and contined to attack its prone form until both jaguars bled to death.  Wode gave a battle cry usually reserved for dwarves.  Three kills in five days was not good...but she'd keep up the assault on the fierce beasts of the wilds.

On her way south two days later, Wode encountered a lion, which she danced around and taunted before cleaving deep into its chest.  Then the lion bit her right shoulder!  In pain, Wode fell over, struggling with the monster as it rended her flesh. As she staggered to her feet, she dropped her axe as she took a toothy assault to her leg.  Wode crawled away in panic, then rolled over and hit the lion in the face with her shield, and dashed back for her axe. It grabbed her leg in a terrible hold, but she barely grasped the axe:  She managed to nearly sever its tail before the pain knocked her out.  The lion, after recovering, casually ripped her head off as wolves approached for their share.

Mab Tundratoe was a swordswoman from far off lands, well talented in dodging and grappling as well as the scimitar.  She scoffed at heavy armor.

Talented swordsman
Proficient wrestler
Ambusher

She decided to leave Bowedclocks one day, seeking fame and fortune by pillaging old castles and ruins.  The only hint that anyone would give her about such places, however, was a place called Tickssewer, the home of a powerful cyclops--and she just wasn't up for that yet.  So she set out alone and, in time, discovered the ruin of Breachesfin in the Null Swamp of Watchedness.

Mab strode into the ruins and promptly decapitated one skeleton, then disarmed the next before kicking it into a pillar.  She brought down seven undead, and then observed a lone zombie, which she dismantled piece by piece, by hand, until she was utterly exhausted.  Then she went back to slaying the undead.

Unfortunately, this was a bad idea:  Mab's exhaustion prevented her from outrunning the next three skeletons that attacked in a group.  They overwhelmed her, and tore her apart...in the same way she had assaulted the zombie.  Her death was not quick.

Oqui Gikibepa was a hunter from Chirpedboats.

Competent Crossbowman

His goal, for now, was to provide for his town.  There were elephants in the Jungle of Death, but he would stay out of there...for now.  The Hills of Beguiling were also off limits.  There was a certain evil to them.  On the 23rd of Hematite, he was attacked by a pack of wolves, which nearly took his arms off:  But he managed to kill them with his spear.  Oqui limped off for the time being, determined to be more careful next time.

Some time later, he came across a strange cave.  Too late to head back to town, he decided to camp inside.  What's the worst that could happen; a bear, perhaps?  It turned out to be an ettin...and though Oqui stabbed it in the stomach, the effort was useless.  The ettin claimed another victim.

Amiya Linimepa was an Libaricotian Elvish sniper, out hunting for dwarven blood.  She heard tales of abandoned dwarven settlements, and intended to pillage them for all they were worth and desecrate the dwarven sacred places.

Professional Bowman
Ambusher

Amiya received a bow the day she set out.  It dated back to ages ago, and had artwork depicting times even further in the past:  The first foundation of her ancestors' home city, Cagestyles.  Though she swore to plunder dwarven places, she would start with the goblins, a bigger threat:  She would attack the dark fortress on Poisonprairie.  An uneventful journey led her right to its doorstep, and under cover of night, she listened to the sound of goblins screaming in pain.  They would scream even more before they were done.  She crept inside, observed the bloodstained walls, then shot the first goblin in the heart and choked him to death as he died.  She saw a hammergoblin approach, and took a wild shot at him--and then heard the cackling of goblin children, which mobbed her from behind and killed her in seconds.

============================================================

Libracote sent another of their elves after Amiya, to determine her fate:  Iki Dipanethima, or "Icky Skunksiege".  Maybe they just wanted to get rid of him, but in any case, he was only meant to scout the site, and report back home.

Skilled Swordsman
Adept Armor User
Wrestler

But along the way, Iki discovered the lost ruins of Nodsota on the edge of the Permanent Spines, and couldn't help himself for investigating.  Iki decided that it was no great crime to claim the bonecrafts of this place, and sought to find metal gear, too.  After fighting several undead, he decided to outrun them instead--until he heard the a rasping battle cry of a skeletal archer, and decided that discretion was the better part of valor.

Unable to quench his desire for valuables, Iki stumbled across an abortive dwarven settlement on his way south around the mountain.  A wagon still sat outside the door, but the place was deserted; all the same, he decided to look inside.  Nothing.

Iki was getting very unhappy with this mission.  Who wanted to scout, when there was treasure?  But still, he pressed onwards, until he reached Poisonprairie.  Bodies on pikes?...  This was bad.  Time to leave.  The cave just to the north looked more promising than this.

And so Iki stumbled into the lair of the kobold swordsman named Chreegis, and stabbed him through the heart with a wooden sword, then took the kobold's own copper sword.  Another elite bowman announced himself!  Iki ducked into a cramped, small room near the entrance while he waited for the bowman to show himself.  Another kobold came in; Iki dragged him into the room, then stood over his prone form as he hacked the kobold to pieces.

Peering out the door, Iki saw the glow of the bowman's eyes finally depart.  But this place had metal arms, and maybe more loot.  He couldn't help himself.  He had to press onwards...

A flying copper pieced straight through his chest, and impaled Iki's heart in a mortal wound.  The bowman broke his elbow, making him drop his sword, and laughed as Iki bled to death at his feet.

Such is the first day of adventuring!

Yes! Sign me up too!

One problem: my internet connection is enormously terrible so I may not be able to download the whole world without getting a connection error. If I disappear off the face of the forum during my two day period just treat it like I forfeited. If I can't download the map because of connection problems I'll try and tell everyone so I can forfeit and not slow everything down.

Oh, and I just registered. I've been playing DF for a bit though, so I'm not (quite) a newb.

Thesa Pulleyfins was a drunk with no possessions to his name.  Out wandering far from home, he came across an old abandoned fortress.  With nothing better to do, he wandered inside in search of some of the legendary dwarven booze he'd heard of... In the process, he got ambushed by a terrifying bat-winged creature!  He choked it to death and started sneaking around more carefully.  However, all he found were roaches.  He took some meat that was (hopefully) still good from the wagon outside, and left.

Nearby, he found a ruin full of skeletons--and of course, who ever heard of a skeleton being dangerous?  But an undead monster named Guardstraws spoke to him, and claimed to be the strangler of Amala Raptorsubtle, "who never learned who his real father was".  Attacked once, Thesa ran away; he came back for another look, and was not seen again.

Ari Youngback was a mistress fencer from Copperhome, on the borders of the Plains of Death.  She trained for many years before setting off on a serious, planned adventure.  Never mind her lack of skill with armor:  She intended to sell off much of it so she could afford a better weapon.

Expert Swordsman
Skilled Wrestler

When Ari was done preparing, she wielded an iron shield and a superior iron scimitar, along with a full suit of bronze chain and two iron boots.  Even armored like this, she was slow...but she would learn to bear the burden in time.  Ari was not agile nor was she strong, but she was built like a siege weapon.

Ari's first task was to recruit other allies, and no mere drunks.  She gained the assistance of Sas Realmsdeeps and Dema Huggedmoths, swordsmen, and the macemen Zoku Brainrules and Uja Ostsiadi.  Already well-known heroes Rel Hatchetglaze and Shene Pethiteri refused to join her band...for the time being.

Speaking to the mayor, she accepted a quest for the Councils of Testing:  Kill the spearmaster Goto Murdertold in a nearby ruin.  Ari swore that after her sword had tasted blood in the wilderness, she would proceed directly.

Zoku was the first to spot the lion, out in the wilderness.  By the time Ari reached it, her swordsmen had dispatched it, but she slew a brave bonobo with her own hand.  And so it went.  The next lion they encountered, Ari stabbed it with her sword and had to wrestle the beast to get it back out--and nearly knocked poor Zoku down with the lion's body with her next attack!

After several battles, Ari went into the ruins...but her life ended after many of her comrades had fallen.  After breaking her ankle, she crawled to a place with a tree at her back and fought the onslaught of skeletons until she died.

Unib Besmarnicat (Retired, but still alive!)

Competent Hammerdwarf
Novice Shield User
Adept Armor User
Wrestler

Unib Pulleychain was due to be next in a long line of accomplished hammerers in the dwarven realm.  One problem:  Her father died in a freak magma accident, and she was not yet experienced enough for the position!  Her goal was to prove herself through a single quest, and then retire to a life of punishing crime.

Unib's background led her relatives to equip her with a full suit of iron armor and weaponry:  A most auspicious beginning to her quest.  She recruited the hammerdwarf Dastot to show her the ropes, and the speardwarves Rakust and Eshtan to fend off her foes. Olin and Tobul filled out her ranks with mace and sword respectively.  She set out to Bootpatterns, far to the south, to see the queen.

Along the way, she hammered a bear and a cougar:  Not a fine start, but enough.

After a day of milling around, trying to acquire permission to see the queen, Unib finally got a quest in Lengthslid, where Zan Whipsteels was slain by Datesuns:  Kill Nisam Mirrorrings, a human of tremendous ugliness.  Unib accepted the quest, of course...but found herself regretting that she had not left room in her group for a marksdwarf.  Ah well.

Before setting off on the trip, Unib brushed up on her sneaking around...a vital skill for a hammerer to have, in order to catch criminals!  The rest of her party hunted harpies.  While Unib did manage to hammer an ogre at one point, that ogre first took out her teacher Dastot's eye... a great loss, but he seems more like a proper teacher now.  Making war against a pack of elephants did not go so well, though, and soon Unib and Tobul alone were trekking back for smarter companions.  Unib hammered several harpies herself, on the return trip.

Bomrek the Speardwarf, Rigoth and Etur the Swordsdwarves, and Onul the Marksdwarf joined up.  Rigoth was lost to an ogre on the long trek and Etur lost his sword, but such is an adventurer's life:  They made it to Lengthslid, a place full of ashes and blood and bones.

As she witnessed the death and destruction all around her, Unib, though still uninjured, entered a martial trance.  She fought off a score of undead that surrounded her party, and proceeded through the ruins!  Finally, the dreaded Nisam appeared, a zombie from beyond the grave...which might explain his ugliness.  Unfortunately, Unib's trance had worn off, her marksdwarf was out of arrows, and her other allies were nowhere to be seen.  Since Onul was in a rush to attack the zombie spearlord with the butt of his crossbow, Unib had no choice except to rush in behind him--and she hammered him good, a solid and confirmed punishment.

Only the zombie's chain mail--still in excellent shape, though a bit large--was worth looting.  So Unib needed to hurry to return to Bootpatterns and claim her rightful place as a Hammerer.  But first...

Etur and Tobul were back-to-back, fighting off a skeleton horde outside; Etur was badly injured, with harsh wounds to his face and neck, and seemed unable to use both arms.  Twenty feet away, Bomrek's spear passed straight through a skeleton's ribcage, and the skeleton fell upon him, fearing at his arm.  Unib waded into the melee, sending bones flying in all directions--and finally, the only things moving nearby were the things that were meant to move.  Living dwarves.  Sadly, both Bomrek and Onul elected to settle their scores with a zombie mace lord across the ruins instead of leaving when they had the chance--and were never heard from again.

Five days down, and five days back.  Unib discovered a cave just off the beaten path that she would refer to as The East Gutter on her way home, but did not enter, instead continuing to claim her post.  Just before reaching the gates of Bootpatterns, the group was attacked by a horde of foul blendecs; Etur fought bravely, but with both his legs shattered beyond recognition, was killed.  At last, Unib and Tobul made it home.

Though finding the Queen was the same challenge it always has been, Unib was finally recognized as a champion.  For now...her adventuring days are over.  What lies in store for her companion Tobul is still unknown.

Day1 of my first turn

========

Abhorsen Pimkastrol...
Nisa Imazanipa...
Their names were recorded, as well as their victories, but there was no record of their deaths. This puzzled
Rosmik "Watchedmyths" Kiwanxem, a female historian living temporarily in Bridestyles, in the country of
Cadopesor. She was what you might call a "field historian". Not really an archaeologist, but a traveling
historian who filled in gaps in historical records while traveling from place to place. She experienced
history rather than just reading it, and this gave her valuable fist hand knowledge above some others in
similar fields of study. Unexplained gaps in records bothered her, so she set out to fill them in when
others couldn't. And thusly, she was preparing to set off and find out for herself what had become of these
two modern heroes.

The nature of what she did required that she be able to defend herself, just like any traveler. She had the
proper training; she was a good mark with a crossbow, wasn't bad in hand to hand combat, could use armor, and
she could get around quietly when she needed to. She had remarkable strength, and was tough enough to take
care of herself.
Her first order of business was to find some traveling companions. Gisep Usushzilta, axeman, and Ebe Pantuma,
maceman, filled this need. They had heard of Abhorsen and were interested enough in his fate to agree to
follow Rosmik. So the three prepared to set out. Since Abhorsen's last known location was the ruin of
Planescreams, that was their destination. It was the 25th of Sandstone, 1055. The trees were bright with the
colors of autumn, and it was good weather for traveling. They began moving west, searching for information
about Planescreams.

They stopped shortly in the town of Dukaatek in hopes of learning some information. Unfortunately they found
none. Even worse, Planescreames didn't appear to be on Rosmik's map. Also, it wasn't known where Abhorsen had
been before departing to the ruin. Why were there so many holes?! Rosmik was frustrated, but they kept
traveling; maybe they'd get lucky.

They kept moving, always west for days. They would stop at towns and ask anyone with knowledge about the
ruin, but no one had ever heard of Planescars. Then, on the 10th of Timber, they were attacked while traveling
through the hills of Ekxoxsmastbosto Osmosp (?!). They hadn't been attentive and had been surrounded by a pack
of wolves. Rosmik was surprised and began to back away from the wolf nearest her, but then she heard Gisep
fighting. She couldn't leave those two alone against a pack of wolves, even if they were fighters. She took
aim and fired at the wolf chasing her. She hit it in the stomach just as it reared up to sink it's teeth into
her ribs. A difficult scuffle ensued, during which she took some heavy damage. The wolf tried to go in for
the kill once, closing it's laws around her head. She somehow managed to break its grip, but knew that she
would never again see out of her left eye.
She could hear Gisep's shouts as he was assulted by other members of the pack. Then he suddenly became silent,
and she was swept by a torrent of horrifying thoughts. In a daze, she pulled herself away from the wolf and
jumped to her feet, despite the burning pain it caused her. The wolf jumped at her and tore at her face, but
she felt nothing. The wolf collided with her, but somehow she moved just slightly andthe wolf was shoved to
the ground at her feet. She grabed it around the neck just as the maceman ran up to her, a terrible look in
his eye. He swung at the wolf with unnatural power. The wolf's head was completely smashed. but there were
others; and they were coming straight towards Rosmik and Ebe.
Rosmik didn't understand; why did this all seem so far away? why was her pain gone? She raised her crossbow
and aimed for one of the wolves. It all seemed like a dream, everything moving so slowly... She fired once,
the bolt passing into the wolf's ribcage and out the other side. 'One down...' She noticed passively that one
of the wolves was tearing at her stomach. She felt sick and threw up as the wolf got a solid hold on her lower
body. Her vision wavered as she saw Ebe coming to help her. Somehow she managed to lift her crossbow once
again. She fired bolt right into the wolf's own stomach, causing it to become sick. Neither of them were in
any condition for fighting; it was up to Ebe's mace to finish it.
He smashed one of the wolf's legs before putting all of his strength into another heavy blow that completely
destroyed the wolf's lower body. Finaly, there were no more of them...

Rosmik just laid there. She didn't know how long, but when she finally felt she could move, all of her major
bleeding had stopped. She was badly cut and torn from head to toe, but she would survive. As she laid there,
she asked the maceman what had happened to Gisep; he had been assulted by three of the pack, and he had only
been close enough to help her... Rosmik closed her eyes again and thought to herself. Gisep was dead, she was
very badly but not mortally wounded, and Ebe... She suddenly realized that he had killed three of the wolves,
and he was completely unhurt. He blamed it on his armor, but what about that look she had seen him get when
he was fighting...

She got painfully to her feet and they set off toward a town they had passed by a few days ago. But their
trial was apparently not over; once again they were beset by wolves. This time there were five. Rosmik was
quickly faced against another wolf in melee range. She fired at it, but the bolt hit the wolf in the paw.
She had to jump back at the last moment to avoid being bitten.

Then she saw it. Ebe was doing it again...
[Note that I removed the text about my character from this screenshot so it wouldn't distract from the important bits.]

Meanwhile Rosmik was only able barely keep out of the wolves' reach. She clobbered one with her crossbow in
desperation, and actually managed to get a good hit. After that she was back to dancing around, trying to
fire when she had a chance. Losing her left eye had killed her aim, however, and she missed twice. The third
try was a charm, however, and she managed to hit one in the leg. But then, once again she felt jaws close
on her stomach. Another wolf bit down on her left hand. They both shook her, tearing bits of flesh away.

Out of seemingly nowhere Ebe came. He bashed a wolf in the back leg, then hit it with all of his running
force, throwing it to the ground. Then, just like last time, he hit a wolf that was attacking Rosmik so hard
that it actually flew through the air away from her. Now there was only one left.

The strange look left Ebe's eyes, and he slumped in exhastion, his guard down. Before he or Rosmik could
react, the wolf was on him, tearing at whatever it could get at. He knocked it away once with his sheild, but
it came back and just kept attacking. It got a good hold on his hand and began to pull at it violently.

In a sudden burst of stength, Rosmik hit the wolf with her crossbow. The blow actually knocked the wolf away
from the bleeding Ebe, and Rosmik stepped over him, intent that the wolf would not have any more chances to
harm him. She swung again and again, bludgeoning the wolf with her crossbow until it no longer moved.
Once again, despite what happened at the end, Ebe had defeated almost all of the enemies but one, which Rosmik
had dealt with. She supported him as they limped away, noting that--to her great shock--he too was now
missing his left eye.

They traveled the rest of the way to the town without speaking. After they had been resting in the town for a
while, Ebe approached Rosmic with a sad look in his eyes. He felt guilty that he had not been able to save
Gisep. Rosmik suggested that they go and collect his belongings, and his body if it was still there. He
nodded agreement. However, as they searched the wilderness, they were unable to find the axeman's body or
equipment, or Ebe's mace, which they had not thought to retrieve after the previous battle.

In the end they decided to continue their original quest. Since Gisep had died while journeying with them for
that goal, they would continue until either they fell as well, or they had finally achieved it.

So they continued west. Only to be assailed by wolves again. Rosmik now wondered if they had been cursed from
the moment they set off on this journey. First four wolves, then five. This time there were six, and every
one of them ran straight for Rosmik, malice in its eyes.
Rosmik began to run, thinking of nothing but getting away. She ran past Ebe, calling to him to follow. He
didn't move. She kept running. Then she stopped. 'He's fighting them... so that I can escape?' She turned and
planted her feet. 'So he's going to die for my sake?'

"THAT'S...NOT...GOING...TO...HAPPEN!!!", she screamed, running at full speed towards the two wolves that
hadn't stopped to fight Ebe. She swung her crossbow like a maul, pounding at the beasts, not even bothering to
fire a shot. The pounded the first wolf's ribcage in, then proceeded to destroy the second wolf's hip, the
sheer shock killing it. Without hesitation, she continued toward the group surrounding Ebe. She began to beat
at one of the beasts. When it turned around to snap at her, she simply dodged and hammered it again. One more
pounding blow and it didn't move. Then she attacked another, charging full force. She hit it and then
shoulder tackled it, knocking it to the ground before swiftly ending its life. She charged the next one with
similar results. Then the third, until none but Rosmik and Ebe moved.
It was then that they swore never to abandon one another. The feelings between them had changed. Neither
could have survived without the other, and they knew that if events continued as they were, neither would be
able to live without the other by their side. They were correct.

Shortly after, wolves attacked them again, and once again they killed every one. Rosmik was glad she had a
sturdy crossbow, built for both ranged and close-combat use, because she found that she could--strangely
enough--do more damage faster if she didn't even bother to use bolts.

They traveled a short ways northwest after encountering impassable mountains. This led them to the dwarven
mountainhomes of Nomalokol "Staffvoiced". Maybe the dwarves might have maps that they didn't? Alas, they did
not, leaving the party of two no closer to their goal. Soon after during their travels, they found an
uncharted cave. Out of spite for their lack of direction in their search; they called it "Brainholes".

They then went east from this cave, having followed the mountains a good ways north. Soon they saw a human
town in the distance. Upon reaching "Silverpulley", They discovered that their reputation preceded them.
Rosmik thought grimly that she would probably become best known as a wolf slayer if this kept up.
They traveled for many days, moving north and west, looking for any sign or rumor concerning Planescreams.
None revealed itself, and there were no exciting happenings except for the discovery of another uncharted
cave. It was located in the middle of nowhere surrounded on all sides by "The Mindful Swamp of Hames".
Because of its position, The two travelers named it Stalconehrathusan, "The Armored Unseen Heart".

Eventually they began to travel east. These swamps were so large, and there were no settlements in them.
Eventually they reached "The Bright Crazy Forests", where they were attacked by a cougar, which they quickly
dispatched. This situation repeated itself after a day's more travel, and then after that they were once more
attacked by wolves. There wer only three, however, and they were easily dealt with.

However, the same was not true for the next pack of wolves. This time there were seven, and when one of them
knocked Rusmik unconscious, it spelled the end of both of them. They had promised not to abandon one another,
and neither did, but since they were no longer fighting together, the source of their strength was destroyed.
Thus ends the tale of Rusmik "Watchedmyths".

========

Talk about an anticlimax, right? Well anyway, I'm going to list some odd coincidences that occurred during my
first three battles with the wolves. It's a bit weird.

1.In the first battle, one character died, one was badly injured but survived, and the third was unhurt.
2.In the first battle, Ebe saved Rusmik by hitting an enemy so hard it flew off of the screen. The exact same
thing happened during the second battle.
3.In both of the first two battles, Ebe killed every wolf except for one, which was then killed by Rusmik each
time. In the third battle it was more than reversed when Rusmik beat every wolf to death with her crossbow.
4.In the first battle there were four wolves; in the second there were five; and in the third, there were six.
5.In the first battle Rusmik lost her left eye. In the second battle, Ebe lost his left eye.

Anyway, although I sort of like the story, I personally feel like I rambled too much, particularly at the
beginning. It made it really long, and I want to avoid that on my second day so that I'll be able to go
through more adventurers.

Also... does the fact that I only did actual dialogue once for the characters mess with the story at
all? I think its sort of weird, and I'm going to try and avoid it in my next stories, but I'd like an opinion.

That was quite the story!  I don't think that the limited dialogue detracted from the story though.  Keep it up!

Day2 of my 1st turn

========

Teshil Turotcadem, "Thunderblood", was a boastful man with a fiery personality. He was friendly enough, and
generally honest, for the most part. He had practiced with a sword since had was young, eventually graduating
to armor use. Once his basic training was complete, he had worked as local hunter, honing his skills in the
closest thing to field combat that was available to him. It was on the 22nd of Moonstone, 1055, that he
decided he was finally ready. He went to the mayor and gave his request. With a twinge of sadness, the mayor
agreed that he was ready. He would travel East, toward "The Ocean of Radiances", and act as a warrior for
the towns along its coast. On his way, he would stop by Tistol to see if they were troubled in any way. So
he left the town of Helmsplant, alone.

He traveled southeast over The Lucid Hill and The Big Crazed Dunes before reaching Tistol. It wasn't a
very large town, but it was quaint, and--judging by the mayor's words--not without problems. Apparently the
locals were getting worried about a cave nearby, called Stabbedhole. It was rumored that a cyclops lived
there. Teshil discovered that the rumor was true when the mayor lowered his voice to a whisper and said, "I
want you to kill Uno Bloodivy, the cyclops." "No problem," The swordsman said.

Teshil, despite his boasts, was not all talk, nor was he all muscle; he knew when he was going to need help.
He went into the town to gather local warriors willing to help him. So as not to stir up the townsfolk, they
gave the explanation that they were going out to hunt. He was joined by Fensast "Diewhispered", spearman; and
Age "Rimtempest", swordsman. The three then departed for Stabbedhole.

They crossed "The Long Molten Memory-Desert of Stars", named for its unforgettable burning heat, and the vast
expanse of stars that could be seen from there at night. They could smell the sea nearby when they reached
the cave, in the dead of night.

Post by: Sarpedon on October 03, 2007, 08:00:00 pm
It had been 6 months since I came home from the forge and caught my wife in bed with another man.  It had been a tiring day, and I had labored all morning to finish a sword for the weapon merchant in town.  At midday, I was finished, and headed with the blade to the merchant's shop; unfortunately, he was out to lunch.  Rather than trudge back to the forge, I decided to stop home for some lunch of my own.

Oh, how I'll never forget that horrible moment as I stepped into my home and saw my precious wife in bed with a guild representative visiting from another city.

I saw red, and in my blind rage, I snapped.  Pulling out the sword that was meant to go to the merchant and provide for my wife and I, I cut the two of them down where they lay.  I then fled, never turning back.

From that day forward, I resolved to train myself on the blade and make my living as a mercenary.

Travelling far from the town of my birth to escape any rumors of my horrible crime, I came upon the dusty town of Bakelung.  There I settled for a period of time, training myself in the ways of blade, shield, and maneuvering with armor on.  Finally, I felt that I could handle myself well enough to offer my services as a blade for hire.

My first stop was to chat with the Mayor of Bakelung, Kethi Juggledmoths.

Kethi was a smarmy individual, fat, bloated, greasy, extremely uncouth and unagreeable.  I hated the sight of her, but in Bakelung, she held the pursestrings, and as such, I needed to deal with her if I wanted to get paid.

"Greetings," I approached Kethi, hoping to start things out on the right foot.  "I was wondering if there might be any way I could be of service to the town of Bakelung?"

"Ah, Palath Soaredyears?  You are the last person I'd expect to see asking the Council for work.  Wasn't there some unpleasantness in your home town some time ago?"  Kethi smirked knowingly, her eyes glinting.

Blast!  How could this obese wench have learned about the events of six months ago?  I could feel the color rising in my cheeks but resolved to hold my tongue and stay calm; there was no sense in repeating my crime on the Mayor.

"I see no reason I could not service the Council, despite what trouble I may have run into in my past."

"Indeed, indeed," Kethi replied.  "Perhaps if you successfully complete a task of the Council's choosing, we can brush your history under the rug."  Again that smirk and glint in the eyes!  The stench of this hideous witch was turning my stomach!

"What task, then?" I hissed through clenched teeth.

"Ah, so glad you have decided to work with us.  Nearby is Oarscolds, an ancient ruin filled with the evil undead.  Particularly evil is the swordmaster named Rosmic Goldcalls.  Destroy this abomination, and you'll have leave to travel across the sea to a place where no one has ever heard of your crime."  Kethi nodded and turned as I rose and left the malevolent presence of that fat hippo.

An undead swordmaster!  I certainly couldn't do it alone.  I spent the next few days promising fame and glory to anyone who would listen, until I had gathered three followers: two pikeman and crossbowman, who seemed just as desperate as I.  Their names were Aba, Oce, and Setduk, respectively.

Upon arrival at the ancient ruin of Oarscolds, I knew we were certainly doomed, but I knew also that I had no choice.  I had to complete my task and kill Rosmic, or return in shame and face the death penalty for murder.

As we headed into the ruin, the undead turned and faced us, swarming like locusts ready to feast on the autumn crops.

As Setduk unleashed some bolts from his crossbow, Oce took a blow to the stomach, causing him to vomit uncontrollably.  As Aba is separated from me by some zombies, I am surrounded by the undead!  I swing my blade high above my head, and catch one of the foul creatures in the neck, decapitating it.

My confidence soars as Oce recovers and we wade deeper into the sea of undead.  Oce plunges his pike into a skeleton, where it gets stuck between some of the ribs.  As the foul denizens of the ruin see Oce attempting to unstick his weapon, they descend upon him with renewed furor.

Setduk and I try to fight out of the group of zombies that have surrounded us, when Setduk runs out of bolts.  I can only watch as he turns and wields his crossbowman as a club, swinging it and attempting to bring down the zombies that now clawed at his face.  I dispatch another skeleton and look up in time to see poor Setduk have both his eyes clawed out; the sight of his screams and eyeless sockets were haunting.  Then a swift punch from a skeleton caved in his chest with a sound like a barrel being broken, and a squeak emanated from Setduk's mouth before he fell lifeless to the ground.

Anger overcomes me as I fight off the remaining zombies and with a solemn vow I kill the skeleton that moments before had snuffed the life out of Setduk.

I catch Oce's eye and we move forward to rejoin Aba, who has smartly been picking off lone undead and has not been surrounded.

Suddenly, a group of skeletons and zombies approach Oce and I with malice in their eyes.  I am growing tired and lift my sword to hack into a zombie.  Unfortunately, my weapon gets stuck, and I am knocked onto my back!  I lose my sword, the sword that got me into this mess into the first place.  As I'm on my back, I see that Oce is bitten to death by a skeleton who's arms he chopped off just moments before.  I'm alone now.

Suddenly, Rosmic Goldcalls appears, as if to gloat over our impending defeat.

Aba bravely charges in, pike at the ready, but Rosmic swings once and sends Aba flying into a gravestone, where he dies quickly.

I know it's over now as Rosmic calls her undead minions to her and stands over me silently.  As I look up into the face of death, I see the face of my departed wife, smiling sadly down at me, and I shed a tear before the blade comes down and severs my connection to this world.

Accok ‘Stronginthearms’ Cuddleheart is an Axeman, he is only called by his true last name by his family and friends (for anyone else to call him by it has either a death wish or is blissfully ignorant of what he did to one ‘Jonathan Threefingers’, it took a full year before Jonathan’s arm completely healed.)

He began his journey as an adventurer when he was young, unsatisfied with the life of a carpenter he took his axe and left home; becoming a bodyguard for the caravans, after seeing the caravan he was guarding beset by elephants and then flooded with magma(****ing crazy dwarfs with their ****ing crazy doomsday devices) he was able to ‘steal’ some iron armor from the wreckage and escape by hiding behind the steaming elephant carcasses. He slowly made his way through the wilderness and somehow(He personally says it was caused by Armok feasting on the blood of an alcoholic and getting smashed) survived the lions, giant lions, skeletal lions, giant skeletal lions, gorillas, and all those other creatures that would just love to eat him/rip his head off.

The one good thing about being beset by all manner of giant skeletal beasts is that he learned run very fast and shoulder his armor very well, he also learned that stealth, while not that manly, is a lot better than being a splattering of blood on the grass. He made his way into the town of Shankpaddles(when he heard that, he stopped in his tracked and made the peasant tell him that again, then made sure he didn’t have a concussion) and rested, and there he decided that he wasn’t going to be some caravan guard who got stomped into the ground by an elephant, NO, HE WAS ACCOK CUDDLEHEA- er  I mean STRONGINTHEARM, AND HE WOULDN’T TAKE THAT!

So he gathered up a gang of Quenir Paintrite, a hammerman, Thudu Nestedsheen, a spearman (although there was some confusion at first, when he was found in bed with a guard.)

Bistkash Thadtikbo, another axeman,  Ase Hillchambers, a lasher and the only female of the group.

Accok made his way into the local drinking hole (The Peacocks Peecock) and, after stumbling over a drunk, talked to the mayor about any local monster problems.

A minotaur, a worthy opponent indeed, with those words, his crew of 3 men, one women and one homosexual set off to Boldscar the Fat Shafts .

Dated Obsidian the 13th

The date is Obsidian 15 and Accok and his hardy group of 3/5ths men (The entire group call itself that, much to the Thudu’s chagrin (let’s not ever get started on the dirty jokes Ase has made about his ‘spear’)) arrived at Boldscar. Accok immediately stormed in and confronted a snakeman. One axe inside the snakemans lungs later and Accok continued his searched.  Thudu joined him and together they took down two frog warriors.

Suddenly they heard a roar of “Prepare to die!” from somewhere in the cave, due to echoes they could  not disern where it came from, with a quick nod to eachother Accok and Thudu sped off in different directions. Accok got lost in the caves before the sounds of fighting guided his way towards his group, he paused as his mind processed what he saw, Thudu was standing over the minotaur twisting a spear lodged in its arm with Ase stood lashing the whip at the minotaur’s head.

Dropping his axe on the minotaur’s wrist, Accok watched as it let out a grunt of pain, and then stilled; examining the Minotaur, he noticed the blood covering it’s right arm. Looking at Ase he saw that she had no serious injuries that could have let out so much blood, Thudu also looked uninjuried and Accok could hear Quenir racing towards them.

“Where’s Bistkash?” he asked, his voice tinged with worry, Ase stilled and then pointed to a tunnel behind her.

___(Accok First Person View)___
I raced off down the tunnel, hoping against hope that what I thought happened didn’t, a came out of the tunnel into the clearing and there he was, with his upper body punched in like a stepped on pumpkin and his halberd by his side. I let out a shaky breath and my imagination supplied images of his death.

Pushing down nausea, I went over to his body, bent down, closed his eye and took up his Halberd. I couldn’t take his body with me but I could take that. I let out another shaky breath and walked away, feeling like I had failed him. I hadn’t even known him that long, still, two days hiking and sharing your food with a man, you could get to know him. Pushing those thoughts down I headed towards the tunnel, I could mourn him when we get to town.

___End FP POV___

Accok walked out of the tunnel carrying a bloodied halberd, he said in a strangely neutral voice “Let’s go.” No one argued and they set out, their mission was down and it was time to go back to Shankpaddles and rest.

Accok arrived at Spankpaddles in a rather downtrodden mood, his mind was revolving around the fact that Darth Vader was Luke’s father and how this would affect the last book in the trilogy. Sighing, he closed the leather-bound tome with a yellow threading in the front signed “The Empire Strikes Back”. The book was a mere fantasy, the chances of that book being real were the same as the chances of Elephants being benign, peaceful creatures who didn’t feed off the blood of innocents and work themselves into a bloodlust or that the ground he stood on was really just a bunch of 1s and 0s together.

Stunned by the lunacy of his thoughts, after all, you couldn’t spell elephant without ‘Murderous, terrible foul creature from the foulest, darkest pit that not even Tentacle Demons would set foot in.’ (MTFCFTFDPTNETDWSFI) and he knew that the world around him was as real as it gets, after what happened at Boldscar, he didn’t think he could forget.  Realizing that he was distracting his thoughts from important issues again, he rubbed his temples; this was not what he needed right now.

After leaving Boldscar, they trekked to the near town of.... T-something, it wasn’t coming to him right now, anyway, they stayed there to allow Ase’s wounds to heal, they were not severe but it would be good to let her rest.

Accok picked up the aforementioned tome to spend his time while on the journey and distract his thoughts from his dead comrade, Bistkash, he had only known the man for two days, but as he was the only other axeman in the group, they had discussed quite a lot together. He knew the man had two younger brothers and one 5 year old sister, his father had been killed in a series of wild wolf attacks (at least 25 wolfs, some from separate packs had attacked at least once per day while he was making his way towards a nearby town. The sheer odds of that happening were so low that they decided that Armok was angry at Bistkash’s family, and he must spill blood, his or another’s, for the blood god.)

They arrived at Skankpaddles at night, Accok took the taken the copper Halberd he had been carrying around and dropped it on the ground, it made a soft thump as it landed on the frozen ground, their breath could be clearly seen in the night as the moon rose over their heads. Accok slowly took the axe off his back and cut a small strand of hair, the amount for a comrades death, he put it next to the halberd and put his axe away. The rest of the group followed the movements, and soon there was a small mass of hair at the tip of the halberd. As one, the group kneeled by the weapon and then started to mourn.

After what seemed like hours but what could only be at most 30 minutes, the group stood up, their mourning was done, they would not sully their comrade’s honor by refusing to let go and hold on when his spirit had passed away, as if he was unworthy to have returned to Armok. Later, Bistkash’s mother would light the mound of hair when her own and her children’s would be added, the fire signifying the destroying of blood on this plane, so his blood could be added to Armok’s glory.

Accok and his band of now 2/4’s men rested for the night, in the morrow they talked to the mayor and got their reward, he called them champions, though Accok felt like a weakling.

They gave most of their reward money to Bistkash’s mother and spent the rest buying inn and drink. This day they would rest, but tomorrow they would go out and fight some more, because this world was worth fighting for and dam if he was going to see another mother cry over the loss of her son.

These were the last thoughts of Accok as he drifted into a dreamless, hearty sleep.

(One word, giant-wangstfest; no idea where it came from, I would hope someone else could play Accok. Please comment on this because I have a low self esteem and any comment that says "gj" will delight me while any comment that points out any one of the numerous, terrible flaws that I am sure are there will send spiraling into a depression that will end up in me shooting myself in the chest with a squirt gun and then taking a shower, feeling better after.

Not like its happened before or anything <.<   >.>.)

Well, my heroes may not have gotten all that far--but they certainly didn't find a shortage of things to die from.  Ruins are still scary, and the goblin forts are still WAY out of my league...and way out of anyone else's league judging by all the other splattered adventurers just inside the entrance.

If you speak to civilization leaders, they will always have something for you. Too often, though, it ends in multiple quests in a row to kill various undead weaponmasters in the same ruin.
Anyway, my update. Maybe I write too much and take too many pictures. At least it took longer than it had to just to do this one quest, but anyway:

################################################################################

Accok "Stronginthearm" Orspausan

Accok wakes up with renewed vigor some time in the afternoon. Incidentally, it is also the first day of the year 1056. Soon enough the loss of Bistkash casts a shadow over his enlightened heart. But he fashions his feelings into a tool and determinedly stalks to the mead-hall to find the mayor and get information about where he should go next in his quest to make this land a better place to live in.

Some idiot had set a brush on fire in front of the alehouse. For a quick moment, Accok searched through his spotty recallings of the previous night and came to the uncertain conclusion that he had nothing to do with the fire.

Fighting fires, however, was not Stronginthearm's job right now, so he went through the smoke and met the mayor again.

The mayor told him that after the death of the minotaur, he didn't have anything deserving of Stronginthearm's attentions at the moment. Instead he advised him to travel to the capital of Wardear and speak to Lam Reignedthroat, the Pikemaster King.

The King expressed his admiration for his courage and his determination to destroy the monsters that plagued these lands. When Accok asked for information about where he might find these fiends the Pikemaster told him the tale of Ared Footshadow, also called the Rough Persuasion of Youths, especially in the knitting circles. Ared was a great warrior. With only his trusty greatsword and his courage he cut a swath through the ranks of evil, felling great beasts with only single strikes.

But alas, his heroic life came to an ignoble end when he raided an ancient ruin and was torn apart by a horde of skeletons. The skeleton who landed the killing blow is now called "Greatdessert". But, the King said, while the peasants here curse the name of Greatdessert, that is only a minor opportunist skeleton with no special abilities. The true evil lies in its master, the skeletal Axe Lord named Rakbin Donkeyplants.

"Find this abberration and destroy it, Brave Accok. You will recognize Rakbin by his heraldry, a shining sun. May Armok favor you in this quest."

A bear was disturbed on the four-day trek to the ruins. Quenir was caught flat-footed and got his arm torn, but he threw himself at the bear, giving Accok time to charge it while it recovered. He easily chopped the animal into pieces before it could strike back.

Initially, the party arrived at the site at night, but after some deliberation, they decide to wait after daybreak to strike, thinking that the undead would be at their weakest then.

They expected to meet heavy resistance from the moment they set foot on the hallowed grounds, but at first they did not see a single moving thing except the wild grass billowing in the wind. Then suddenly Thudu the Spearman spots an animated skeleton prowling the field and charges. However, Thudu's spear is of limited use against creatures that do not bleed nor feel pain, so the abomination gains the upper hand, at least to begin with. Accok rushes to his aid, however, and the foul being is dispatched.

Close by they find the remains of Ared Footshadow.
They have no time for respects immediatly, but promise the spirit of the fabled Ared that they will return and see to it that he receive a proper burning. And vengeance.

Shortly the party of brave men and one woman find themselves at the base of an ancient building. On the fifth level stands a skeleton that introduces itself as Greatdesserts and taunts the four adventurers.

Accok charges, cutting down anything that stands in his way and ignoring everything else. He meets the Killer of Ared on the second level and cuts him into pieces. But it is not over. The area is still infested with undead and several are bearing down upon Accok as he views his latest kill.

He continues up the building but then sees Thudu the Spearman in grave trouble on ground level. His spear has stuck in a zombie and he can't get it out. Stronginthearm rushes down right past an advancing skeletal Mace Lord. The zombie punches him in the ear as he closes in and Stronginthearm responds by cutting the head off the zombie.

By now the Lasherwoman Ase is engaged in a melee with the undead Mace Lord and a minion skeleton. She bashes with her whip with all her might, but to little avail. Accok ignores his tiring muscles and rushes to her aid. Soon he and Quenir the Hammerman are at her side. Or rather, behind the ancient lord.

Accok hacks furiously at the undead weaponmaster but his tired swings are easily dodged except for a few glancing blows. Then Quenir tackles the enemy to the ground and Stronginthearm seizes his chance and cuts off the skeletal warrior's hand, sending his dangerous mace flying. A second strike with his great axe cleaves the abomination in twain.

Accok leans upon his axe and takes a few deep breaths. But Thudu peeks around the corner, lets out a shout and disappears. Accok jumps up and follows him. As he nears the next corner, he sees Thudu charging against a fleshless axe-warrior. As the fiend raises his halberd to welcome Thudu, the weapon glints ruthlessly.
The insignia of Donkeyplants!

Thudu and Rakbin exchange a couple of glancing blows, then Thudu tackles Rakbin to the ground, allowing Accok to close in while the axemaster recovers. One swing takes off the skeleton's leg below the knee and another it's left hand, thus disarming it.

Accok takes off his other leg as well, but the unfeeling and unbleeding skeleton defies all logic and taunts him, telling him he is going to die.
Accok responds by hacking furiously, his muscles screaming in pain, but the weaponmaster blocks every blow until the skeleton turns around to strike at the Spearman, who had fallen to the level below at some point, and Stronginthearm brings his axe down with all his might upon the Axe Lord's back, shattering it's ribcage like a glass box and sending the remnants flying far from the temple.

Tired and bruised, the party still resolves to at least clear this building before departing from these cursed grounds and declaring their victory before the King. In the end, however, Accok's muscles come to the end of their limits and he falls to the ground. He takes a couple of breaths and then gets to his feet and beats a retreat. He is joined later by his comrades, bruised and battered, but they have successfully cleared the temple. Stronginthearm finds Ared's corpse and takes it up to burn somewhere better than on these cursed grounds, but not before taking a few trinkets from the ruins to trade with if he should come across a good trader in the future.

The party finds a good spot in the Violent Bald Steppes and cremate the body of Aren.

After bowing and paying their respects for the fallen legend, they continue on to Wardear where they receive a hearty welcome from the King when they inform him of their success. The travelers are weary, so they rest until morning in the inn. The next morning Accok requests the King's audience again.

Accok "Stronginthearm" Orspausan (Cuddleheart)

Stronginthearm and his loyal followers travel north in search of a good iron-forged axe. It is not until they come upon a small village, called Palmdances, on the northernmost outskirts of the human kingdom that they find iron wares. Unfortunately, they have no axes, but what they do have is obviously made by a master smith and good enough quality to impress a seasoned dwarf.

They travel to the other end of the kingdom and find themselves in the village of Whirlsalves. The weapons merchant proves to be a very straightforward man, an old warrior, and his wares mirror this. They are high-quality and their prices are not raised by adding useless embellishments and spikes of monkey bone. He sells a superior quality iron greataxe, but refuses to let go of it for the paltry bonecraft Stronginthearm has to offer.

They must return to the ruins of Sticksstroke and pack themselves with loot.

They find the ruins repopulated but the various zombies and skeletons are dispatched with little trouble. The remains of the weaponmasters, who were decked in expensive equipment, have been scattered. Some items are found within the temple, a superior quality bronze mace and a detailed bronze shield. The warrior merchant happily accepts these in exchange for the axe. He also buys a couple of greaves at the armor merchant.

Now he is ready to take on the titan.

Enroute, the travellers are beset by a wild grizzly bear. The animal ambushes Thudu the Spearman and locks his right arm in it's crushing jaws. As the bear shakes Thudu around, Stronginthearm charges the beast and tests his new weapon. He is not disappointed.

Inside the cave, they are met by several mudmen, a snakeman and a frogman. They are easily dispatched, Stronginthearm's new axe more than once killing the enemy in a single blow. But as Stronginthearm, Thudu and Ase the Lasher are exploring the second level, Quenir the Hammerman becomes separated. The three hear a struggle echoing in the cave, then a sharp sickening crack and Quenir's shrill scream of agony, which is cut off with a wet crunch.
The three companions sprint off in what they think is the direction of the sound.

They soon find Quenir's mangled corpse, but the titan is nowhere to be found. Stronginthearm saves his sorrow for a better time. Now was the time for deeds. Deeds of vengeance.

They search the caverns for a while and find no trace of the titan until...
For a moment, Stronginthearm made to charge the towering monster, but then decided that a meaningless and avoidable death was not the best way to honour Quenir's memory, nor that of Bistkash, so he retreated to find his companions.

He encounters Ase and tells her to get ready for fighting. She nods and braces herself as the Titan bears down upon them. The Titan raises his massive fist to strike but Stronginthearm pounces in and hacks at the gargantuan beast and cuts deeply into its chest.

The next two blows glance off the huge monster's thick hide but then Stronginthearm hacks down on it's foot and feels the bones crack under the carefully-forged iron. With a thundering crash, the titan falls to the ground, howling both with pain and the shock that such a small being could pack such a punch.

But the axe is stuck in the creature's hide and Stronginthearm is not able to pull it out. Going for an alternate approach, he instead throws his weight at it, pushing it further in. The Titan gives one ear-ringing howl of agony and fear, then passes out from the pain.

Stronginthearm can now retrieve the axe as the titan no longer moves and hacks furiously at the unmoving hulk. The initial strikes do limited damage, but then he lets out a great bellow and brings down his axe with all the might he could ever muster and sends the great monster sliding down the hall, flooding the floor with its blood.

Following the corpse, Stronginthearm finds the titan still breathing and continues to hack mercilessly like a lumberjack chopping at a tree, except messier. In the end the axe went all the way through the titan's midsection.
It was finally dead.

He goes back to the body of Quenir and picks it up to give him the same treatment Ared got.
He deserved it. Stronginthearm looked to his side at the wet eyes of his two companions. Ase was trying to keep face, but Thudu wept openly. For a fleeting moment Stronginthearm thought of the unlikelyhood of the trio now remaining; An ex-carpenter, a sadistic lasher woman and a fruitcake spearman that has lost his spear somewhere in Sticksstroke. A stroke of mirth shot through his chest, striking a beam of light in the world. His eyes were tingling mercilessly.

"Let's get out of this smoke" he said numbly. He could dimly see the other two looking at him and nodding, then they set out silently towards Wardear.

They arrive in the night, but the King wakes to their entry and greets them warmly. At the news of their success, he embraces them each in turn. The news of Quenir's death doesn't seem to affect him at all.

"But the hero survives! I hereby name thee the Permanent Plain Crypt of Bolts!" he exclaims happily. "Drink and be hale my friends, for this is a time of triumph!"

Stronginthearm, however, did not feel joyful at all. He had bonded closely with his travelling companions and the his loss had been a deep shock. He snuck away from the revelries and out of the town. Ase and Thudu were not fooled, however, and were on his heels. He told them he was going to travel far away. The King here would only give him missions to eliminate distant potential threats while in other kingdoms monsters were actively pillaging villages and attacking the defenseless. Ase and Thudu were more than willing to come with him.

Thus, without a moment's rest, they set out on a long journey.

A fortnight later, they came upon the invitingly named village of "Joindinner." They made their way to the mead-hall for some refreshments. The mayor identified them and greeted them heartily, promising them free drinks and shelter for as long as they liked. He even knew the new name of Stronginthearm. Apparently, this mayor was not a man who was all that he seemed. They told him about their never-ending quest to rid the world of evil and he told them of a cave named Slaughterspit where an ettin had made it's lair. Stronginthearm promised that the ettin would trouble them no more. They found rooms and rested for the night.

They set off at sunrise and arrive in the middle of the night. The cave turns out to be mostly empty. They search the corridors for some time before Stronginthearm descends a stairway and the ettin calls out to him and emerges from the darkness. The ensuing battle is very one-sided. The ettin doesn't even throw a single blow the human's way before Stronginthearm cuts off it's right leg by the knee and the monster passes out from pain. It is easily finished off.

On return to Joindinner, they are welcomed by the large, white smile of the Mayor who congratulates them on their easy victory. He invites them to a meal and recites a tale about a man with the head of a bull that terrorizes the children in the night. Apparently, it is said that it hides in the Useless Deep to the southeast.

Accok jumps to his feet, "Do not think that I do not see through your ruse of constant smiling and generosity! You only seek to use us for your own ends! Do you think our time is best spent chasing children's fables and monsters you think look dangerous? Fine, we will slay this minotaur for you, but then we are gone to where we are actually needed!" he shouts and storms out.

They arrive in the middle of a rainy night at the Useless Deep. Again, the cave is empty. It appears that the minotaur must be the only thing to have found any use for the Useless Deep.

Finally, the aberration is found and it charges at Stronginthearm. But the ex-carpenter dodges the charge and cuts deep into it's right arm in the same movement. The bull-man-thing smashes into a wall and falls onto the ground, allowing Stronginthearm to hack away freely, finally taking off it's ugly head.
They report back to Joindinners just as the sun creeps over the horizon. The groggy mayor was still rubbing the sleep out of his eyes as the party of three departed. They stop next at Candlehoisted and hear of a giant, Nomal Violenceburials, that lurks in a cave to the west that is called the Nasty Shadows. They set off immediately.

Even before entering the cave itself, a mudman emerges and knocks Accok over. He jumps to his feet and cuts it in half, but now he knows this cave, at least, is not as abandoned as the two before.

Inside, Thudu and Ase encounter a lone lizardman and then a frogman, but Accok gets separated and finds an underground river. A nearby lizardman charges at him but he brings his axe into his head, catapulting it over the river in a shower of blood and brains.

Fascinated with the water, he approaches, but fails to notice the lizardman lurking under the water. The reptilian pounces out of the water and tears at Accok's face with its teeth. Due to the searing pain, it would be some time before he fully realized he had lost one of his eyes.
The lizardman is cloven asunder, but the damage has been done. Accok is however determined not to let his loss affect his quest and tells Ase and Thudu not to worry, he does have a spare. The missing eye still hurts fiercely every now and then.

Shortly thereafter, Ase becomes separated and is set upon by two mudmen. Accok manages to find her and easily dispatches her assailants, but she is battered and bruised. Still, she refuses any help to stand up and once on her feet she immediatly sets off to find something else to fight.

They continue to search for the elusive giant, but the pain in the missing eye grows until Accok's world spins around him and he passes out on the ground. A frogman sees a chance to put his name in the history books and charges, but is blocked by Accok's friends, who turn him into a splattered unrecognizable mass.

Thudu and Ase eye him warily and with concern, but Accok will not be considered weak. As to prove his point, he charges off and finds a lizardman and dismembers him in a flurry of brutal violence.
Accok strides onward looking for the giant, but Ase finds him first. Accok finds her pinned under the giant desperately whipping at him and deflecting his blows with her shield. Just as Accok reaches them, her arm finally breaks under the strength of the giant and falls limply at her side.

Accok first blows at the great monster glance off harmlessly, but then he targets its soft belly and puts all his righteous rage behind the swing, gutting the giant open like a common fish and sending it flying.  (http://img520.imageshack.us/img520/7571/asevsgiantsplicedeh5.png)
Accok tries to cut off its head but finds its skull too thick. Instead he brings down his axe upon its chest and cleaves him in twain.

Accok passes out once on the way out, but doesn't let it affect him. He then passes out several times while looking for the Mayor. In the end his two friends think it's enough, what if he passed out in the middle of a fight? Just settle down, at least for a while.

"This is obviously a sign that you have done enough. You can go out and get killed or you can stay and teach new adventurers." said they. The idea of becoming an old mentor was far from appealing, but passing out every now and then was no way for a warrior that expected to survive. He would put up his axe and his armor away. He had a feeling that some evil power wanted him out of the way. He looked towards the horizon and sighed. They had succeeded.

Or had they?
###############################################################################

I felt Accok had come to the end of the exciting period in his adventuring career. Like Ared before him, he was cutting down anything in his way with little effort. Except, of course, if he would pass out in front of a snakeman. But he deserves better than that. Someone might pick him up later, Ben7el willing.

Seriously, someone start in Jasmukomon Cado.
Sure, most of the towns are dead from cold. Sure, you die within mere moments exposed to the extreme cold.
But in the middle of the kingdom there is a cave. And in those caves is an experienced ettin with an exceptional halberd. It's the battle of a lifetime.

Besides, if you're really wanting to survive, simply increase the layering of various articles of clothing. Especially shoes.

Actually, it's in Staddatenilbehal, a kingdom that lies at the northern edge of the world's landmass.

The next adventurers I tried suffered very non-epic ends.

First, an Accomplished Elven archer with a hatred for dwarves. Attacked the first dwarven fortress he found(Nilenshal) and managed to mortally wound one marksdwarf before a speardwarf ran his skull through.

Next, a speardwarf, Edëm, seeking fame and glory. Gathered three other soldier dwarves and attacked a goblin fortress. Managed to kill between a dozen and twenty of the goblins, but they were really pouring out and the quartet fell before getting far into the dark fortress. Edëm did get an extra name, the Rosy Pointy Taker of Lengths, for killing all those named goblins.

Thirdly, I sent an Accomplished Human Wrestler into Vinenalitheme Nire with three drunks to brave the armed ettin. It now has four more names on its kill list. If we keep this up it will get an extra name.

It seems no-one is after me in the list, so I guess the save is just up for grabs:

Helloes and sorries for my absence, which was due to my internet connection croaking out for some time. It's back on now, though. It'll probably be a while before it dies again, so I'll probably get to have a go at my next turn (yaes).

So sign me up once again, please! If my internet is too choppy I'll try and post a message explaining my forfeit, but if anyone is willing to remember it's usually safe to say I won't be able to carry out my next turn after about a day, since I usually get on my computer after school.

ARG.

My internet starts working the same time my computer starts doing weird things. I downloaded the file, but for some reason I can't uncompress it. So I guess whoever else wants to go might as well. I'll be back to sign up once I think my technoscape is reliable enough to handle it.

Oh, and Kaenori Kiko is an alias. He's a fantasy character I made up.  ;)
