New smelter reactions (borrowed from real life) for more fun with metals.
The files do not overwrite original files, so you can use it with other mods, but you NEED TO GENERATE A NEW WORLD for reactions to be avaliable.
Version 1.3
-Wootz steel -> crucible steel, flux requirement added, rough green glass instead of cut one is needed.
1) gold amalgamation (lose cinnabar)
It takes cinnabar to produce mercury and recieve gold using amalgamation method.
It will take 1 gold nugget + 1 cinnabar block and return 1 gold bar and 1 more gold bar with 50% chance.
{ The idea is that amalgamation is more accurate method and it can give you a bit more gold than rough melting where you lose
{ part of your precious content. It's just an alchemy.
2) gold amalgamation (with sulphur)
It takes cinnabar to produce mercury and recieve gold using amalgamation method. Then it makes cinnabar from mercury
using heat and sulphur.
It will take 1 gold nugget, 1 cinnabar block and 1 sulphur block and return 1 gold bar and 1 more gold bar with 50% chance.
It will return you cinnabar (90% chance) and sulphur (65% chance).
3) make arsenical bronze bars
It uses realgar block as a source of arsenic to replace sometimes rare tin. This kind of bronze is less valuable and more soft
than the real bronze, but it does its work (value 4, 70% damage/block).
4) make 3 wootz steel bars.
It smelts 3 iron bars with 1 charcoal and 1 green glass and makes 3 bars of wootz steel (it is used to forge damascus steel weapons).
35 value (steel is 30), 150% damage factor.
5) make white gold bars (use platinum)
It smelts 2 bars of gold and 1 bar of platinum into 3 bars of white gold. Value 35 (gold is 30).
5) make white gold bars (use nickel)
It smelts 2 bars of gold and 1 bar of nickel into 3 bars of white gold. Value 35 (gold is 30).
6) make nordic gold bars
It smelts 8 bars of copper, 1 bar of aluminum and 1 bar of zinc into 10 bars of semi-precious alloy which cannot be used for weapons
or armor, make coins/crafts with it. Value 6 (copper/zinc are 2, aluminum is 40).
7) make platinit bars
It smelts 1 bar of iron with 1 bar of nickel plus charcoal to make 1 bar of platinit. Value 13 (iron is 10, nickel is 2).
8) make aluminum bronze bars
It uses 4 copper and 1 aluminum bars to make 5 valuable aluminum bronze alloy bars. 85% strength.
Value 10 (aluminum is 40, copper is 2).
9) melt stannite (sulphur,copper,tin)
It gives you 1 copper, 1 tin bars, 1 sulphur stone and has 33% chance to give you 1 iron bar.

ArchMage, I just used some wiki and a book about damascus steel, and I think I should really make it harder to smelt. Thank you for the feedback.
There's no point to differentiate glass, you're right. I think I'll make few reactions with different types of glass to allow you to smelt the wootz independently on which kind of glass do you have.
P.S. Sean, What method do you use to smelt white gold? Is it the same as I use here, or are they compatible.
P.P.S. You know that the main thing the alchemy works with is gold, so it was predictable that I found this reaction in my book =).
What kind of contribution do you want? Do you mean we should work together or what? Contribute is содействовать/жертвовать.

Contributing means just that, contributing. State your desire to include the items you want in the mod's thread and they will be added, along with a mention in the readme. What's the use having several different mods that want to do the same thing?
I have the vanadium-rich iron thing in there by the way, as part of a steel replacement alloy.
And white gold is nickel-gold, yeah, only I use 1-to-4 ratio instead of 1-to-2. I've been reading a lot of the Wikipedia for that mod. :)
I know about 1-to-4, it's even 1-to-5 (15%nickel/palladium and 75%gold)
source
I'll be glad if you include the reactions in your mod. I think more is better in metallurgy.
I don't mind at all if you include them. The files are independent.

Nordic gold reaction makes white gold. Also, 3 bars from 10.
Aluminum bronze takes 1 bar of copper and 4 bars of aluminum. Wha..? Shouldn't it be the other way around?
Sulphur exists in the game, it's called brimstone.
I've fixed these and some more balance and nomenclature considerations, and merged it with my mod, though inseparateably for now.
P.S. Error is fixed.

Also, the Wiki:
quote:
... In nonscientific context it can also be referred to as brimstone.

Now when you merged this in your minerals I think there's no need in this stand-alone modification.
I won't announce it in the 1st post though, let the people figure it out by themselves. Just stop bumping this thread =).
