Title: Roll to dodge - Histories of team battles and artifacts. Needs a substitute GM.

WANTED: a GM who is able to sub for a while. I might be busy with school work.

We've had plenty of these, and except for Sean's, most of them have everyone fight each other.
Time for a new twist on this, Capture the Artifact.

We will be using the baisic rules of numbers, ie:

1-epic fail
2-fail.
3-partial success
4-success
5-perfect success
6-overshot

Team rules:
-As it is, everyone will know what the other team is doing, but this is certainly open to negotiation and improvement.

-I will have a map of the play area/battlefield set up. It may or may not be posted on this thread. Again, if you think you can do this for me, go ahead.
  -The Artifact will be as close to the center as possible.
  -May or may not be Asymetric

-Death: death is punishible by respawning chained to the walls. No life limit.

-Team size: I am willing to go up to 7v7 on this.

Setting: to be decided, but leaning on a middle ages theme and open to meshing any and all ages together, even those that didn't happen yet.

The Artifact: For argument's sake, it will be a barrel made of dimond containing sunshine.

Current room setting:
You wake up on the cold hard cobblestone floor. You are surrounded by others, and the only immediately noticeable features are the Red/Blue glowing lettering on the ceiling that says "respawn area" and a metalic bin that says "starting eqipment. You are not chained, and are wearing rough, unprotective civilian clothes.

By the way, there are two of these rooms, they just look alike. Just making sure you know.

I'll go grab some ranged armor and very dark grey clothes from the bin if I can. By dark grey, I refer to the color of dark shadows and the night.

I think we should compile a long list of arbitrary rules for this game, and then give it a version number.

Actually, screw that. I want to look in that bin for a metal face covering helmet and some sort of spiky bludgeoning weapon.

Edit: Nevermind the "MHAW HAW VERZIN NUMBER" thing. Some other thread mentions RTD with a version number. It must have been done before.

My first action in the red respawn area will be to look in the equipment bin. There I will search for the crappiest ranged weapon in the game. Like a packet of twenty or so rubber bands or a soft foam dart gun, missing the soft dart foams, and maybe an incredibly bright shirt like the ones construction works have to wear.

You know? The ones with reflective tape on them, except this one is entirely made of reflective tape, and unnecessarily revealing.

I've got a feeling that something bad is going to happen.

At least my welder's mask will protect my head from the shrapnel.  :P

Round 3:

3: you manage to pull off a long thin piece off the box, but are too tired out to jam it into your wrist. Plus your watch tells you that the action took an entire turn.
If I am not wearing my chainmail already, I wear it.

6: in your enthusiasm you accidentally rip off the right sleeve of the chainmail. +1 against arrows and blades, no penalties.

5: done and done! in fact you are no longer stuck in the bin! (large war ax: Damage level upgrade + dismemberment at a 6/ killing blow. Will get stuck at a 1. Platemail: +2 against damage, -1 to dodge.)
I stealthily start moving toward the artifact. You know, moving in the shadows and everything.
4: clumsily,as you get used to your new state of being you move from shadow to shadow, and leave the respawn area, still stealthed.

You see a huge tower in front of you, there is no sky or skylight, but there are enough lights in the ceiling to provide enough shadows for moving. You are in a round arena, with Bay12 members watching the arena impatiently.

There are four buildings. Red, Green, Yellow and Blue, all equidistant from the tower.

Where o where is the Artifact?

I look in the bin for a war hammer and armor.
1: While bin diving, you get stuck. 5 you strugle for a bit before you finally free yourself.

I'll join up with red team.

3: try as you might, you do not become one with the light, well not completly, just your lower half. You are now sworn to chastity. +1 to good moves +1 against kicking Boski. Weakness to darkness upgrades damage against your favor.
I sprint towards the armor and mini-gun, grabbing them both and equipping them.
4:You run as fast as you can towards the red respawn room, but try as you might, you only got halfway through the arena before the turn ended. The croud cheers you in.

Crowd favorite: secret effect...

Balance bot 1:He tries to learn telekenetic abilities.
1: He gets a hell of a headache. -1 to mental abilities.

Balance bot 2: pulls a random weapon from the bin.
3. He has an aluminum baseball bat +1 to attack, roll to not bend out of shape.

Boski against the inner darkness!(I knew I forgot something)
6! Boski subdues his inner darkness. In fact, he may raise from the dead now...

If you don't pick a team, you'll get the blue team, because I hate dealing with the bots.
For some reason they strike me as complete idiots from silent comedies.

Looking at Asejuhiko's RTD, it would make things increadebly simple if people posted in their team color.

Yeah, I'll take the place of one of the bots.  That'd be fine.  I don't much care for the idea of AI characters anyway.  Can we just get rid of the 2nd one while we're at it? :P  I don't mean to speak for the Blue Team entirely, but Red Team might get jealous with the GM controlling characters' actions for the opposing team.

Also, for my first action, I'd like to summon forth a Bear to do my bidding. XD

I am in favor of this.

I run into the arena with my club and welder's-mask-shield (let's face it, it was never meant to be worn on the head) yelling and shouting semicoherent anti-blue slogans. On entry in the arena, I try to be relatively observant. I mean, I'm not foaming at the mouth, overcome with hate for blue team or anything. I'm just screaming about them, and running towards them with a spiked club.

By the way, what are "good moves?"  Excellent dancing routines?

I assume what he meant was "moves that promote the common good", a.k.a. good actions.

Although it could apply to dancing too.

Yeah, I'll take the place of one of the bots.  That'd be fine.  I don't much care for the idea of AI characters anyway.  Can we just get rid of the 2nd one while we're at it? :P  I don't mean to speak for the Blue Team entirely, but Red Team might get jealous with the GM controlling characters' actions for the opposing team.

Also, for my first action, I'd like to summon forth a Bear to do my bidding. XD

My original plan was to create a dimensional drinking straw, then drink the sunshine out of the artifact barrel, just to see what happens. My guess is that since the green room has dwarves in it, the yellow room has elves. If that is the case then we should check out the tower first, we must snag that artifact booze so that we can throw a legendary party! For the future, if my teleport works, I can probably try summoning anyone who dies out of their chains and back into the arena.

Sorry about the lack of updates, my parents are taking advantage of the vacation to have me get ready to apply to colleges, starting with why my last highschool sent my little sister's transcript to my current highschool. Update coming up: the internet is slightly unruly today though.

Edit: Sorry, but I no longer have time to do this roll. I deprived myself of sleep so that I could sleep early today. Expect something tomorrow.

Plus putting the status together is going to be hell, and the last turn needs to be revised, as I was rushing to get something up before leaving. Plus I had to do nonsensical chores that makes the computer from "Paranoia" make sense. At least the computer makes do-able demands.

I'm in the arena with Little. Dark is in the arena, running to the tower. Boksi is with some dwarves, in one of the buildings, I think. Tylui is at the gate of the arena with his bear. The bear has been told to pull of Little's my head. I think everyone else is in the respawn areas, but I'm not sure.

Little, Inaluct and I are in the arena, Tylui is at the blue spawn's gate and boski is in the green building with the dwarves. Everyone else is in the spawn rooms.

I think you should update the first post with info on the arena contents, such as the tower and four buildings of red, blue, yellow and green. The fact that there are dwarves in the green building should also be mentioned. The yellow building and the tower are still filled with mystery.

I'll give it a shot, if no one else will. I'm not sure how good I'll be, though, considering that I'm likely to update it sporadically and annihilate all of Blue Team the first time anyone rolls a 6.  :P

I'm more worried about the current head-pulling situation, though, because I know that I'm going to want to count any kind of success at all as pulling off Little's head with a reverberating snap, and I know that that would be a little bit unfair.

Yay! I killed someone! Someone who won't respawn, no less. I've sort of resigned myself to not being able to put on that mask. I'll ask one of you guys to help me put it on later, when we have some downtime (that is, when Blue Team is not a threat).

Anyway, I follow Dark into the tower, staying alert for possible threats.
If he's searching for the entrance, I'll help.

Looks like you may have to turn this into a weekly thing, though that is quite a long time for actions that usually only last a few minutes in game. Another option is to wrap this up and start a slower paced game that can give you a bit more time to sort everything out.

I walk over and pull the spiked club out of the bear.

I'm assuming that since the bear went flying and my club was stuck in it, I have to walk over there and pull it out. If this is somehow not the case, I will pull my weapon out without having to walk over to the bear's body.

Also, I have to say, the outcome of Kashyyk's roll was hilarious.

Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night, coated by a cold sweat. Then, I remember that I live in Alaska, and that means I can see Russia from my house. Knowing that I have as much, if not more, foreign policy experience than a vice presidential candidate really calms me down.

Or it would, if I lived in Alaska.

I've really got to find out how setting myself on fire permanently is going to turn out. I wonder if my eyes will be fire proof though, I really hope so. I did say I wanted to become completely fire resistant, but if I roll a 4, I might only become mostly fire resistant.
