Title: Age of Myth
Post by: Azkanan on December 01, 2008, 03:54:33 pm
Just wondering... How many of you know how to access Age of Myth timescape for Playing in?

I was rather suprised when I found out how to, which was by chance, so, don't flame me if you know how to - but I'm guessing some newbies don't know how to...

--------------

When you Create a new world, hit space (or enter) when the progress reaches the start of Legends-writing. (Initializing...). Once the initial pause is over, you can save the "Current state" of the world, and voila. You can play it.

There are a shit load of Dragons, Ettins, and other nasty creatures. All over the place - namely the rarer creatures, are easier to find. Also, villages and whatnot are still in mid-consturction, which is fun to watch as they go about building the place up.

You can set the end date for whatever you want when you design a world with parameters.

if you just want to hunt megabeasts, playing in year 1 is fine.  but as you noticed, there are several drawbacks.  capitol cities will just be vilages, and there will be no large cities.  there will have been no legendary figures outside of initial rulers and their families.  no wars will have started.

you cant actually watch these things happen, as most of them ocur ONLY in world gen.  towns should not grow during the game.  wars will not start (outside of adventure-mode vendettas) after worldgen.

Really? I found a half-built house, slept 3 times, and it had been worked a little. o.o

That may be an exception.
Or it may just be a hallucination.
But in any case, 99% of the shiny new worldgen stuff won't happen outside of worldgen for the moment.

If that's for real, my mind is blown.

Someone teleported a gernade into your head?
Title: Re: Age of Myth

Yes.  There is literally a literal gernade in my literal head.

Then I shall have to pull the literal pin on the literal gernade, so I can set off said literal explosion, which will blow your literal mind.

Perhaps he was just speaking figuratively...?

Maybe he means it literally and he saw some stonecrafters working on top of the hut or something?

A power goal (Or bloat, I'm not sure) is to make the age of myth playable and interesting. So my guess is you can do it, but it won't be fun. Or anymore fun than DF already is.

literally!

It doesn't seem very likely that the house got worked on.

...

What? No its dead now.

ok back to the topic

if wars don't start in the age of myth and i started playing in the age of myth they why are 35 goblins laying seige to my fortress, and i get frequent elf ambushes (I don't kill diplomats, i find trade useless yet an amusing break to constant mining, growing, harvesting, waring, demons in the deep).

Are you playing in the year 1? otherwise history shows us that sentient beings enjoy war a bit too much.

Fun Fact: Sometimes, you will get an age named after a demon-lord of the goblins. This is awesome.

Goblins will siege you regardless, and wars do happen early on.  It's just less likely since civs are smaller.

quoted for truth.
my first pocket world ONLY had two ages: age of "hydra and deamon", and age of "mido". what kind of deamon would have the name mido? a frog deamon.

So, can anyone approve that the structures are being built during the adv. mode?

About all that "L" stuff. I wonder how stupid the people can be x|.

I am insulted. Instead of taking one of my quotes you take a quote completely unrelated to DF?

I am forced to conjure up another quote.

I am so ‼sexy‼

(Note: This entire reply is a joke. I didn't really mean that. Sarcasm is often missed easily here.)

To get this topic back ON-TOPIC, I can confirm that locations are built during adv. mode. I watched a forest retreat captured by Humans grow over the last five years, and in that time two houses and a shop have been built along with what was present upon my discovery of it.

:-[ sorry. But that does kick ass, kudos for finding it. Does that mean towns can grow in the intervals between fortresses? Awesome.
