Title: HFS Challenge!

I struck my first HFS! Yay!

Went into the glowing pits area with an adventurer and died within a few rounds.
You pick up the raw adamantine and put it in your two-humped camel leather backpack.
You have broken into a peculiar chamber through the base of the mountain.

Crap, all those burn marks in the beginning seem to come from the demon's chained prisoners.
Immediately after this, I attempted a reclaim, where 70 humans were utterly destroyed by the spirits of fire.

So I issue a challenge. Clear out the HFS with an adventurer group. I dare you to try.

I tried that before. I made a special fort specifically for unearthing the HFS and my 12 dorfs or so had their dorfasses handed to them, just as planned.

I came back with 40~ dorfs in a reclaim. None survived. Came back with another ~40. None survived.

I then came back with an adventurer party and a pretty well leveled adventurer and some crossbowmen and stuff. There sure was a lot of loot scattered around.

Without any spoilers, well, it did go better then I thought it would.

Huh, I didn't know you got the "peculiar chamber" message when entering as an adventurer.

I was about to ask how you got in as one with the whole "being unable to dig" thing.

edit: spoilered it all cuz the guy below asked. also, it talks about a fort in the world of traps and adventures, so dont read it if you want a surprise there as well. and yeah, if you dont know what hfs is dont go on reading this thread. its a neat surprise.

someone in the world of traps and adventures thread had a fort with tentacles horrors crawling all over the place. i managed to clear them all out.

the best bit was descending a huge staircase into the very center of a massive room, and being set on from all sides by tentacle demons. they ripped my party to peices. highlights included a human lasher being picked up and lashed to death with his own whip by one of the demons. everyone died except my character and two bowmen, who ran out of arrows, were disarmed and stunned. my human axeperson ended up with her iron great axe stuck in the last demon who knocked her over on the floor. i had her crawling away from it while it followed her. i finally came across a stray iron arrow, picked it up and threw it. lucked out and it hit the demon in the head stuning it, and that gave me a chance to stand up without being knocked straight over again. i was able to pull my axe out and finish it.

that was awesome. however i reclaimed with a party of dwarves to check and see if i had found everything, and ran into the one proper demon on the surface who i somehow missed with my advanturer. it nearly wiped the whole lot of my dwarves, only 4 lived. funnily enough it only direcly killed 2 before going down to a million crossbow bolts. the rest died from the massive fire and the resulting tantrum spiral. the survivors were standing over some brook tiles, which saved them.

as a side note, when your ranged party members run out of stuff to shoot, is it possible to reequip them? and can you give your party members new weapons?

Not HFS, but I managed to kill a demon by myself in a goblin fort. I won with a broken lower body and burned head as my only injuries!
