Title: Mayor? Drunks?
Post by: Jebraltix on December 27, 2008, 07:19:08 pm
I was reading up on adventure mode yesterday and decided to give it a try this morining. In the wiki it says that as a human I will start out in the mayor's house and see him and several drunks. Well I selected my skills and everything and started the game. No mayor in sight, not even a drunk. I start out in a 2 story house with some military dwarves. I looked around also, no sign of a mayor or even a tavern. Could somebody tell me where to find him or how?

It depends, if you choose "Human:Play Now" it will start you in a random town, or in an abandoned fortress. That's all I would know... :P

Is there an icon on the mini-map for a tavern?

You're probably in the tavern.
Most likely the town was conquered by a dwarf civ or did conquer a dwarf civ and over time the now-part-of-human-civ dwarves overpopulated the humans in the town.
So you are in the inn, one of the dwarf warriors is the mayor. Drunks have been removed from this version, I believe.

This is incorrect.

I've never seen anybody labeled as 'Urist, Drunk', but if they exist I might just not have the patience to find them.

I've seen a drunk or two, but my impression is they're a lot rarer than they used to be.

Humans had mayors a few versions ago, back in 38c.  They have military leaders instead now.

All that I have seen are elite bowmen and other military humans, I have not seen a dwarf

Humans only have military leaders.  Your problem has nothing to do with dwarves.  Humans have no mayors.  I just said that before your last post.  When you ask for help, you really should read every post on the thread asking for it.  If not, you could be skipping your answer.

So basically:

1. You should ask that Elite Human Warrior upstairs about the quests instead of any mayor.

2. Drunks are now generally replaced by normal professions and any warriors who are less skilled than you will be willing to join you if asked.

I was talking to him about the dwarves...

Edit:Anyways, thanks for the help guys.

Drunks have not been replaced, you just have to look for them.  They will always join you.  Military units may join you.  Talk to them about their profession, if they say they want to go on an adventure or something, then they will join you if you ask.  Gaining a decent amount of skill makes this much, much more likely.
