Post by: woose1 on December 30, 2008, 01:21:30 pm
Here are the professions.
Let me see....

There are 5 marksdwarves, one is in a pernament state of internal rage, one has a babeh and a kitteh.
There are 4 axedwarves, one of whome I imagine pompus and loud because he came in the imigrant wave.
6 miners........
4 fudgin woodcutters.
4 carpenters. (2 are also woodcutters.)
1 bowyer.
8 stoneworkers/masons.
3 animal trainers/trappers/caretakers.
Im not even going to bother with the metalworkers.... there are so many of them!!
One gemsetter/cutter.
7 craftdwarves (1 of whom is a glassworker... useless.....).
3 fisherdwarves/fishcleaners.
11 (  ) growers/feed preperation staff.
3 engineers not yet put to use.
1 stupid-butt mayor.
3 recruits armed with crossbows.
6 dumb peasants... some of whom have random tasks...
4 children and 2 babehs.

Pick your lot.

Rules:
1. Each person will have the fort for a year, starting in spring.
2. No savescumming unless absolutely needed (The entire fort is wiped out)
3. Constant updates are mandatory, but pictures are not.

O, sorry 'bout that! sucession forts can go here too. i was just asking what exact you were planning, you called it a comunity fort and then started about passing the save around... kinda confused me.

Ooo, can I be one of the miners?  A female one preferably.  One who strives for excellence and/or likes art if that's possible.  Otherwise, just the most experienced one available. ;p

I've never played a sucession game before, and I'm still kinda new at DF, but I've been looking for one to play.  If you don't mind the noobieness, I'd love to play.  I'm on vacation atm, so I've got plenty of time for it.

PS: oh, and/or who likes statues and/or cats.

If Fili doesnt update within the next day, just go ahead and start.

(warning you, goblins will start seiging real soon and we are all out of booze.)

You talking to me?

Oh blimey, I've never done a siege before.  My current fortress is only in it's fourth year.  Are you sure you want me to go first?  I'd rather not, I'd rather watch a bit first and get more of a feel for the fortress (not to mention learn how to handle sieges).  Could we wait a bit and see if anyone else joins up?

As I said, a day.

But, if you still feel uncomfterble I could move you to the back when/if somebody else joins.
I think fili may have buggered out on us....

Oh, and I wanted to be a miner rather than a mechanic.  Could I be Urdim?

Hrmm, we're not getting much interest, are we?
Shame, because I really like the look of your fortress.

Listen, if nobody else shows up, would you be willing to play for the first year, while I learn about the fortress and how to manage sieges?  I know that's not ideal, since presumably the whole reason you want to make it a community is to get some fresh blood in, but I'm really not comfortable going straight in.

Cheers

Shado, go ahead and do it!

NOW! Before we lose interest!!!
..and public opinion.

@Inari:
Sure!

...But the point of the fortress was to dump unsespecting players on a very bad situation (Aka no booze, seiges, demanding crackwhore nobles, etc.

If I start playing, I might be forced to do some actual fixing!!

OOC: this's my first attempt at RP

Shado's log: 26th of Timber, 242

I've been elected by the shadow government to lead the fort for a year... Which
is really odd, because i didn't know we had a shadow government...

Anyway, the fort seems to be in fairly good shape, except for the total lack of
alchoholic beverages... and no well... As such, my first act as leader is to
order digging out over the underground pool and get a well built.

I have also orderd this area smoothed, i have no idea what was planned here, but
if i have time, i'll make it into a statue garden

10th of Moonstone

work has begin on a defensive tower next to the entrance

some time later

An ambush, CURSE THEM!!

Snatchers! NO!

OOC: that's all for now, more later.

EDIT: sorry 'bout the poor quality pics

Sorry guys, time has gotten away from me... I won't have time to finish my turn and post until Friday. If someone else wants to start go ahead. I'll try to finish my year over the week and if no-one's started, I'll post it then.

I would like to participate in this less-than-grand not-quite-experiment.  This would be my first attempt at succession, but I know the game reasonably well.

Shado's log 23rd of Moonstone, 242

For the moment, we have killed of driven out all of the goblins. Here's a list of our casualties, that I know of.

Dead:
1 Stray puppy
1 Meng Vucasastesh, Armorer
1 Mebzuth Onollokum, war Dog

Injured:
1 Ilral Mozibe`rith, Woodworker (left upper leg and hip yellow)
1 Stray puppy (right rear leg red)

To our soldier's credit, I count four Green corpses as well.

8th of Opal:

In order to free up barrels for brewing, I've ordered some of our Plump Helmets dumped into the magma pipe. One of the haulers said they weren't burning... he must be crazy.

(OOC: I litterally watched one fall all the way to the bottom of the pipe! I didn't know they were fire-proof!)

The statue garden is comming along nicely.

No further trace of the Greens, yet...

A clothier, Tun Zongeb, started acting odd today as well.

9th of Opal:

Tun keeps mumbling, something about rock, trees, cloth, bones, and gems...

We have everything, but he must be expecting us to bring it to him or something...

9th of Obsidian:

My time of leadership is drawing to a close, I hope. I've ordered some more of the chairs and tables moved into the dining room. Nothing new regarding Tun. And no further sightings of the Greens.

17th of Obsidian:

Another round of Plump Helmet dumping and still no empty barrels for alchohol! I suppose one good thing that's come of everyone having to drink water is that the marksdwarves have thinned the beast population in the underground pool... perhaps in a few more seasons we'll be able to safely venture in to collect the webs.

One of the marksdwarves has had a son, how nice.

Ilral is still bedridden, his hip seems better, but he still can't stand.

23rd of Obsidian:

Tun has finally snaped. I hope his depressed mood isn't infectious.

1st of Granite, 243

Just as I order my statue garden engraved, my term ends. I must now pass leadership on.

Unfortunately, I can't say I've done much for the fortress, I leave it much the same as I found it. Sober.

(OOC: Sorry for no pics this time around.)

Righto.  I've got the file and am up and running.
I'm going to be out a bit today, so it may take me a couple of days to get through my turn.  Hope this is okay.  In fact, I'm almost about to head out for lunch, so this first update is very short.

1st Granite 243

I have been honored with the position of Town Leader this year, and am both excited and a little daunted by the prospect.  I'd like to thank my predecessor for putting in a well.  I agree with him, the booze situation is becoming dire; I for one am certainly feeling the effects.  I shall prioritize rectifying this situation.  The lack of wood is problematic and we don't have any trade agreements encouraging imports of it.  I shall try to do something about this.  I also intend to build an outdoor garden and zoo to help us all get used to that horrible big firey thing in the sky, as well as improving border security.

Urdim Inari CresentRags, Miner and Town Leader

PS: I've just noticed that some of my fellow dwarves are fairly miserable, in large part due to the lack of booze.  I'll build some jail cells and instantiate a fortress guard to deal with any potential tantrums.

The fortress guard shortage is in a large part, my fault.

You see, when clearing out the PIT, I decided to use my oh-so expendable fortress guard to clear it out, along with my Captain of the Guard.

Long story short, they were all massacred and thrown over into the abyss, a giant bat got into my fort, and the rest is just history.

Also I

Will try to

Make smaller

Posts.

Sorry, today has been a write-off, DF-wise.  I'm back at work and therefore sorta busy.  I'll try to get through my turn in the next few days, but feel free to yell if you'd like me to hand it off before then.
