Title: Quick query on above ground forts.

I was just wondering, as i'm one of those crazy folks who builds mostly above ground, when a fortress is abandoned do the above ground areas get infested with monsters for when they're visited in adventure mode later?

I build above ground alot and I've never seen my sites infested with any monsters.
