Title: Let's Play: X-Com 3: Apocalypse: Colon Attack II: Revenge of the Colons

Yeah, I'm bored so I might as well. Got Saturday and Sunday pretty free so I'll probably start tomorrow. In the meantime, I'd like applications!

The generic classes I'm using are Sniper, Gunner and Heavy, using laser rifles, machine guns and auto cannons respectively. I'll also use robots when I get those and benders when I can recruit hybrids. You can request custom armament, though.

Finally, I'm not an expert, so I'll get us all horribly killed at the highest difficulty settings most probably. Still, you can vote on what difficulty setting you want.

So please, post!

I'll be a heavy, any difficulty you like.  Highish strength, preference for HE rounds, with one or two spare HE and IN and a non-explosive clip too.  Don't need much else, besides maybe a couple stun grenades.

There's very little more fun than full-auto HE while slowly walking down a corridor.

A lot of X-Com threads popping up. I even started to play the game a few weeks ago : ;D I would like to be a sniper. Any difficulty would be cool with me.

Just to clarify, is this turn-based or realtime?  Because realtime is way cooler and more fun.  Just sayin'.

(and it's fun to remove a headcrab from your squadmate with a high explosive autocannon round...really works!  except that headcrabs are like, instant death in turnbased.  in realtime, it's just the runners you have to worry about.)

I was contemplating making this LP/Thread myself.  Thank god somebody else is doing it.  These games were fucking made for forum participation.

Heavy Weaponize me Boksi.  In Apocalypse, the HE/Autocannon really is the best weapon until you get Disrupters and B-Toxin.

Also, blow up buildings.  You know you want to.

Well, it's about time the government got it's damn act together. X-Com is back and badder than ever! Well, no, not really.

Anyway, let's catalogue our assets:

Okay, who the fuck designed that base? There are two entrances, quite separated! Indefensible! Inexcusable! Well, time to get to work. Let's redesign a few things.

Now, as for our vehicles, those road vehicles have got to go. We're buying a bunch of hoverbikes. Swarm tactics FTW. Also some other armaments. Hmm, and yes, science. The biochemists want to miniaturize the alien containment facility enough to be put on vehicles. That's good. The quantum physicists, the geniuses that they are, can't think of anything better to do than hurl a bunch of probes through the weird hovering cube-gates.

And then there's the troops... Weeeeelllll....

Okay, they're bunch of madmen. The heavies refuse to use armor-piercing ordnance, only high explosive and incendiary for them, one guy is nicknamed sniper but couldn't hit the broadside of a barn, and I swear those can't be their real names. Apparently, we've got the strange dregs of society: too honorable to join the gangs, too violent for Megapol or Marsec. Freaks, all of them. But I suppose we must do with what we have.

Give the Hoverbikes dwarven names, and name the transport Brunhilde.  If you've still got the hovercars name them Fast and Furious.

In order to make up for his lack of a gun last mission, Captain Mayday is sent up alone against the aliens. Well, he does have a HE-loaded autocannon. He's not completely hopeless. That smoke to the left is from another squad's elimination of several chrysalises.

Manual control would be a lot more fun if I didn't have so much trouble with scrolling causing lag. Especially when the camera is focused on something moving.

Heh, I've played the original X-Com and Terror of (from?) the deep but never took a crack at this one. Sign me up if there's a spot open. I don't care what position or weapon so long as my guy is called "Timmy Bighands".

Alright, I'll be brutally honest with you: I can only promise you two more updates. The most sinister force of them all threatens X-COM and may spell it's doom. And no, it's not aliens or the cult of Sirius. It's boredom. I can't get back into it. Still have the saves and all, though.

Oh yes, and it's an abandonware version. I got it a long, long time ago, but not long or short enough for me to have purchased it.
