I'm rubbish with forums so bear with me people.
I get annoyed by my dwarves having to drag eacvh single piece of clothing off dead dwarves. Wouldn't it make more sense to have dead dwarfs become a kind of bag, containing the clothes they had on, so they come with them when the body is dragged to the graveyard. then in the orders section you can have a @dwarves strip corpses@ option so the dwarves will take clothes out of this body bag as an action associated to item hauling. Obviously the dead dwarves cannot be USED as bags.. and when emptied become corpse objects as they were before.
I'm really really sorry if this has been suggested before

Ingenious!
Seconded!

Sneak in a little "problem" where dwarves stuff dead bodies full of sand for glassmaking...
Dwarven taxidermy.

Or you could just skin the dead dwarves and make macbre bags out of them ;P

Dead dwarves with pig tail embroidery of other dead dwarves would be a nice thing to have about the place.
Seriously though why would you take off all a corpse's clothes when you could drag the body home with them still on.
Don't answer that question. :p

Burying a dwarf only after stripping off all his/her clothing is macabre, indeed.
I suppose the chief difficulty is to make sure this still allows stripping dead goblins (goblin armies -- also known as weapons deliveries). And: what to do about expensive armor and weapons? Champions should probably be buried armed; not so the lowly guards. Of course, kobolds would then revel in trying to steal the buried treasure.

maybe metal armour and such should remain when the corpse rots but maybe drop a level in quality due to rusting/ getting smegged up.
Breastplates and bones, rusty helmets on mouldering skulls. It's all good.

It's not like when we die we're buried with whatever we were carrying at the moment of death. We're usually stripped and fitted some crappy suit. Maybe we can have coffin suits for dwarfs, which make happier thoughts during burial?

Well, that's only true of current industrialized nations such as America and Great Britain. Historically, a lot of cultures have believed in burying the dead with their armor/weapons and/or slaves/other luxuries for use in the afterlife. And since religion seems to have just recently been added, well... I think it would be a nice feature.

My main issue with body disposal at the moment is sieges. I mean, realistically you'd just take all the corpses, clothes and all, and throw them in a big pile. Then light them on fire, or something. It just seems a bit extreme, at the moment.

Dwarf Dwarfson has been happy lately. He was buried in a fine suit of coffin mail lately.

Being able to choose whether or not a body is stripped would be great. Choosing when it gets stripped would be useful as well.
