Title: The future?
Post by: qwertyuiopas on February 15, 2009, 04:37:21 pm: As this project is dead, I am curious to know what will happen next?

It it the "weekend" project?
Will the source code be released?
Will it be revisited after DF hits a significant milestone?
Will development be shifted to another person?
Will it simply fade to the point that nobody remembers it?

I am not looking for answers to those questions, but the more general one:

What next?

Post by: Tahin on February 16, 2009, 11:10:16 am: If I remember correctly, Slaves To Armok has a bit of DF's code, so Toady doesn't want to release the source. Also, it's horribly buggy and would really need to be rewritten completely to be useful, as I understand it.

Now, if someone wants to go ahead and make an Armok clone, that would definitely be interesting, but I seriously doubt that this will ever be officially revived in any form other than Dwarf Fortress.

What I don't get, however, is why this forum is still hanging around. What do we need it for, nostalgia?

A lot of the goals for Armok were absorbed by DF so that it eventually became the focus.
