Thank you in advance.

I just total up how many dead woodcutters I have in the crypts.
Or as I like to call it, the "Hall of Lame".
The post title is misleading by the way - I was hoping you meant some way to actually counter ambushes, rather than count them, heh. At the moment, I just take the message's advice, and curse them, as I watch my dwarves run as far from the safety of the fortress as their little legs can take them before they're struck down.

I'd appreciate this sort of screen - an overview of your victories of the past weeks ...
code:
Year Season Event Size Kills Losses Injured
1060 Winter Siege 5 Squads 21 Goblins 1 Dwarf, 5 dogs 1 Dwarf
1060 Spring Ambush 1 Squad 4 Goblins 1 Dwarf
But then, I guess the Army Arc may bring its own variant of a "incoming / outgoing armies overview" or so :)

Take it a step farther - since the game keeps track of who killed what, why not add a separate screen to the profile selection?
Let's take Fallout for example: It keeps track of how many of each monster and each sex of human you kill. Would it be completely superfluous? Sure it would. But it would also be a fun thing to look at. Since we're not allowed to view the total detail of the engravings, we should at least be able to marvel at how bad ass our Hero that killed 38 goblins, 17 kobolds, and 100+ undead camels really is.

That gave me an idea. Instead of just popping up "SIEGE" in the top of the window, it ought to put up counters for "HOME" and "VISITOR" too, and a timer. :)

And at halftime you switch sides and have to assault your own fortress.
