... or force-field bridges over lava where ennemies would fall down, stuff like that.I had a short argument lined up about why this wouldn't work, but then I realized that engies can place both red and blue force blocks. Your team can pass through your color, so you would have to build the bridge out of the opposite.
So. What's this game all about? Megaprojects: Dwarf perspective? That's probably what we use it for, but the actual point of the game is to rake in more cash than the other team.
Well, direct connect over internet doesn't seem to be working very well, ar at least very iffy, so to really play you need one of those LAN over internet programs, probably the one mentioned on the site.
Once you get that running, direct connect to their "LAN" IP and hope that their connection is decent. You can still join a server with a bad connection, and there will be few issues at all, but joining the server will take a long time.
Alternatively, you can start your own server and join it, as all servers on a REAL LAN show up by IP, or at least all servers on your own computer.
It's a multiplayer mining oriented game.
I detonated a bomb as I hit some lava and caused an error. D:
Okay, well, me and this Mokshu guy WONNNNNNNN
Edit:
Okay, I'm gonna try and host one at 192.168.1.140
I need players!
Anyone else have the problem where when you join a server, you never manage to download the cave system? The loader for the system never gets past 00%. I can't tell if it's just my ping, or something weird.
The game is still crashing for me too :(
I've been able to open .lvl files in Notepad++
They consist of 262,144 lines of "X,X"; X can be any number from 0 to 5, as far as I've seen. The most common value is 0,0.
262144 = 643 , so each map must consist of 64 blocks on each side.
If we can interpret this with a simple program, we can easily load these files and edit them directly, and thus paint interesting shapes or challenging maps. Or just maps consisting of nothing but diamonds and magma...
Or, we could figure out a way to export from DF into IM; Imagine a 643 section of, for instance, the magmaworks of a mature fortress.
Or custom competition maps, say, a floating island made of gold and diamonds hovering 40-50 tiles up and the two teams' bases on the very bottom.
Or, a cache of diamonds that can only be accessed by the red team- adjacent to the blue team's base, and vice versa.
Or, a solid cube of dirt, lava, stone, gold, and diamonds. No blank spaces.
Or, a premade city with roads, buildings, and everything, that can be blown to bits.
Or, Nevada.
Or, "the perfect embark location" complete with hillside, magma tube, and chasm.
sapper isn't totally broken. but if you, at any time, have more than 1 TNT in the game, you will never be able to detonate anything again for all the game, unless you relog.Oh, so that's why I couldn't detonate my TNT...
Now we need someone to make a DF to IM converter. (we do know how to decode DF, right? ::))
Speaking of fun:
New game now running.
Network: infiniB12
Pass: infiniminer
IP: 5.218.80.82
That's 122Server; Running IM Version 1.22. Please use version 1.22, as earlier versions have a serious bug that will disrupt other players.
This is a wild server. It's on it's own.
122Server resets the map whenever one side or annother gets $20000. That's four times the normal amount.
Note that the server automatically saves before resetting, so it's possible to reclaim lost saves if something really awesome is lost.
Anything that starts with 192.168.*.* is an internal address, only valid inside your network. Same with 10.*.*.*.indeed. That has been mentioned so many times, I think it should be in the thread title or soemthing.

True, 172.16.*.* is the not so well known block. But you can put in a lot of the 'service' range ips in and you'd never have conflict problems. Not really. I mean, sure, I tell my router "Let's just say that 12.34.56.78 is an internal address", and it might work, but if I ever need to go to the real site at that address there would be problems.
10.*.*.* and 192.168.*.* are -specifically- reserved for internal networks only, so in practice they are the main ones you see. (Might be other blocks, but they're not as well known. These ones should be more well known.)
I can play this now...
But I'm not sure what to do. The first screen shows telling me to click, then it says select a server with no real options.

The new Hamachii network is still up, and anyone can run a game on that.
name: B12miner
pass: infiniminer
I have an idea for running a Capture-the-Flag Challenge Game once I get enough people. Anyone that is interested. It'll involve base defense, with Traps, TNT Charges, Tricky Architecture, etc., and then cooperative infiltration of opposed bases to retrieve Loot to bring back to your base. It'll be moderated too, so no worries.
Until then, I'll run a custom map from time to time. For now, I've got Iron Castles up, first team to $10,000 wins.

yes, i see only now that it worked... all the time i did that. now i have lots of saved maps. how do i use them?
i made a very good undermagma fort and wanted to show to other people...
As the download page says, you NEED to download the XNA 3.0 Runtime (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=6521d889-5414-49b8-ab32-e3fff05a4c50&displaylang=en), and run it. You probably have the .NET 2.0 one, (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=0856EACB-4362-4B0D-8EDD-AAB15C5E04F5&displaylang=en) but if it still doesn't work, download it too.
i am going to do homework now, os i think i'll host a server. version 1.4I can confirm it works, could some people please join?
edit: should be up and running.
5.216.238.92
i am in B12miner and infiniB12 networks. not sure on how hosting works, but i got people on my servers in the past.
Right folks, I have a plan. A plan that can solve all our hosting problems. As you know hamchi non commercial license can only host about 16 people per network. So what I propose is we have a bunch, 2/3 people, of dedicated server makers that are in every B12 game infiniminer network. So they can effectively be connected to +30 people. Therefor saving people the hassel of not having a game in one server when they could if the host joined theirs. Simples? Yes.
This looks awesome, I conected to B12miner, if upgrading an Hamachi account is a one-off payment, we could set up a 50-person B12 network to play this and other stuff on. That would be pretty cool.If this game is anything like any of the others I've played, only the HOST needs to be in the same network as all the clients.
Huh... I've got it working so far- in fact it's doing great, far better than the Himachi system. As of the time of my post were you hosting a server? I saw you on yet I still can't connect.
You've got to be "buddies" with the account for the connection to work. After you've been approved, it will let you connect.
Attempt to add the server like you would add a chat buddy.
I might be able to verify users from here...
To save a map, just type “save [filename]” w/ no quotes. Replace [filename] with whatever you want to call the map, and just for consistency, make sure you put the .lvl extension on the file. All of the autosaves end in .lvl, so it’s just nice to be able to tell that it’s a saved level, and not just some file.
Also, the save command only saves the block config. It DOES NOT save team ore amounts or team money amounts. This can be very useful though, since you can just keep playing on the same map over and over and over, building onto what you built last time through.
AND a server browser that works! yay!doeth that meaneth no more lame-o hamachi?
I'll host a server or some such on the server browser. I'll try at least, stay tuned for updates!
Server Is UP!
Edit: All i had to do was join my lan and it worked. Can people join please? I want to see if this works. And by god does this map have some epic lava flows!
edit: Ok tried to save it, to bad i forgot to run it in admin mode, tried to save, but it crashed :( srry man, ill host a new one, in admin mode so next time it can be saved(A)
Running Vista? You don't need to place the game in your Program Files folder (it's a special folder protected by the OS, hence require admin rights to write into).
Create a "C:\Games\" or similar for your games. It would save you a lot of headache for older games or ones that do not handle elevation properly.
It's a ghost carp! Holy crap!
And, um, what's with big black box below it?
That's my only option though, so it will have to do.

You can have a LAN party if you have multiple computers...
