You might like this thread.  It asks the exact same question, and it's fairly recent.

MMORPGs that actually includes a bit of roleplay. (http://www.bay12games.com/forum/index.php?topic=35329.0)

The game doesn't enforce it, but a lot of guilds do: Star Wars Galaxies
That games has so much potential for Role Playing, try the trial :)

I'm going to chime in with the most epic role playing experience I have ever had in a game, online or in person.

There is a Neverwinter Nights persistent world called Escaped form the Underdark.

This is a HARDCORE place, the storytelling and plots are gritty and immersive. Don't miss this one if you are looking for intense roleplaying on the level of a Shakespeare play mixed with a healthy amount of play against player conflict, intrigue, and MURDER. Hardcore pvp and combat is what you get, but swirled with good reasons to engage in such.

I wrote a long description of it a while back in another thread, that is here:
http://www.bay12games.com/forum/index.php?topic=30366.0

if you join up, my current character is a druid/barbarian named Tree.

If any .hack MMO came out you would be roleplaying correctly 24/7

Since it is basically the only MMO that actually considers itself to be an MMO.

NWN 1

IMO, the only one worth playing.

Yeah but like every third guy would be like "I AM TRAPPED IN THE MATRIX".

(okay, okay, I've seen like two episodes)
