Title: +Detailed Quartzite Floor+
Post by: Align on January 14, 2008, 01:52:00 pm
Instead of having to use k+enter on every square to see that they're not Masterfully designed(and safe to dig near), can we see it on the quick-info screen when using loo(k)?

Tahin approves of this idea.

Hear, hear.

In addition, I'd love it if Toady used the same idea he does with damp tiles:  Give a warning and require the player to deliberately re-designate the grid.

Of course, letting the player *move the masterwork someplace else* would be wonderful...

Hmm... I skilled enough miner should have a chance to remove an engraving without harming it, allowing it to be transported some place else for installation as a wall. These should also be buildable at masons (and carpenter's) shops, and be the product of removing an engraved constructed wall or floor.

Seconded.

...

In other words, "deconstructing" that wall would yield masterwork blocks with that engraving, that can later be reassembled. Masons/engravers (the most common kind of stoneworker, methinks) could use their engraving skill when making a masterwork set of blocks, resulting in an image being engraved on the blocks, that will then transfer to the wall that is built with the blocks.

I don't want to go into details here, but let's presume the "set of masterwork blocks" implies a set of really good blocks, and a large stone panel with an engraving that is cemented onto the blocks.

I suggested something similar a while back
Unmined rock + engrave = smooth wall
Unmined rock + mine = stone
Smooth wall + engrave = engraving
Smooth wall + mine = block
Stone + masonly = block
Block + engrave = tablet
Engraved wall + mine = tablet
Tablet + masonry = wall
This can also be used as workarrounded for regulary unengraveable constructions.
And the ability to selectively engrave will own as well.
Back to topic: +engraved chert floor+ is the best suggestion uptill now.
