Title: Gaskets
Post by: Forumsdwarf on January 14, 2008, 11:38:00 pm
Gaskets would be leather objects you could attach to any built watertight obstruction (hatches, doors, constructed walls, etc.) or fortification which allow the construction of axles through them.

Gaskets would also prevent the leakage of water.

The gasket would need to be oriented up/down, N/S, or E/W, and the axle would have to be oriented according to the gasket.

You might also simply have a gasket include an axle.

Hmmm... actually, to take your idea further, make normal doors, windows, and etcetera non-waterproof. Then, have a gasket addable to these items that would make them waterproof.
If you want a reason why, consider having a human town in a valley beside a lake. With doors as they are, these worthless humans would be able to avoid a watery doom by hiding in simple thatched-roof cottages! It must be fixed!

Seconded!
I just had to build my supreme water tower with extra gear assemblies to be able to have one vertical shaft that would power all my pumps.
