Title: Bottomed bottomless pit
Post by: Wurm on June 27, 2009, 06:25:52 am
In my latest fort I have a bottomless pit(it showed up as a bottomless pit ( ○ ) in embark), except it has a bottom. It is a perfectly round large hole that goes through part of a mountain, and stops 1 z-level from ground level, it goes about half-way through the whole map. There are no monsters near it. and it is situated right next to the border of the next biome.

I'm using 40d12 with the mod that makes more stones magmaproof(can't remember what its called), I didn't use any custom parametres for worldgen.

I think that is an extinct volcano. Is the bottom obsidian? If it is, it's cool magma and not a bottomless pit.

There's been bugs reported with magma pipes stopping at Z-level 0. I suspect this is related.

Nevermind, turns out the bottomless pit was hidden right under it. It's not an extinct volcano, there is a claystone cap over the top of the pit.
