Title: Reading your own old posts
Post by: umiman on August 14, 2009, 12:26:37 pm
It's fun to read your old posts. Not on here, maybe in some old blogging site or forum. I guarantee that your number one response would be, "who the heck is that? Did I write this crap?"

It's fun to learn from your mistakes.

Here's mine (from another site):
Quote
Recently I watched AirTV. 6 hours later, I used up a box of tissue.

...

Seriously. Gau.

In fact, I was so afraid that my manliness would be destroyed further that I was too scared to watch the movie. I later went to play nightmare Doom 3 and Sexy Beach 3 to atone for my sin.

Has there been an anime that made you cry to which you'd like to confess to?

Ugh... I can't imagine ever writing something like that.

Any hilarious past writings you guys would like to share?

Heh. Alright, I'll bite. I had an angstblog throughout highschool. I've preserved it on my HD because I still like the website designs (I was HTML ninja). This seems like as good a reason as any to laugh at my incredible levels of teen angst. Things from random entries that made me laugh :

Quote
I spent 8 hours taking a fucking Foodsafe course and now I'm qualified to spit on your fucking hamburger. 8 fucking hours! In that amount of time I could have cured cancer, or discovered the meaning of life, or made 80 ham sandwiches; and they just told me how I don't wash my hands enough and I'm probably going to die from Salmonella.

Quote
Anyone who read Caitlins super secret blog would probably have encountered this quote:
"Last night at the Kelsey dance, frank tried to kiss amanda"
And since Cait does not allow comments on her blog (and because I am petty) I feel compelled to state here that that is just about as flagrantly untrue as you can tell that story. In the future one might consider some much more entertaining versions of the night, such as:
"Last night at the Kelsey dance, frank was drugged and woke up in a tub of ice,"
or,
"Last night at the Kelsey dance, frank got in a fight with a giant gorilla."
The results are much more entertaining and just as crazy and made up.

Quote
So, schools started but I'll talk about it next time. Something really cool happened. One of the 4 surviving founding members of Greenpeace said he'd give me a blowjob.

True story.

Did you let him do it? Did you make eye contact?

Only a year and a half ago, I played that heaping pile of shit called Runescape. Compare the typical player to me now. I grew up a whole fucking lot, I'd say. Year and a half ago, I was just another sniveling retard. Now I'm beating the fuck out of sophmore honors (I'm a freshie  :D) and I have braved /b/,/g/,and /jp/.

'braving' 4chan isn't really anything to be particularly proud of.

Honestly, how 'brave' is it if you're just going to a website where a bunch of 14 year olds post their version of humor?

It's a bit of a joke there if you didn't catch it.

No. And Yes. It's not like that was his conversation opener. And apparently he has since died (http://www.greenpeace.org/international/news/lyle-thurston-1937-2008), so it looks like I missed my chance for eco-celebrity fellatio.

The very first forum I ever signed up on was a place for hosting various comics made using Garry's Mod.  I placed upon myself the responsibility of becoming a critic to police the boards and weed out the less-than-optimal comics from the "standard" section, and pretty much leave the "low quality" section alone.

I did this by being a ruthless antisocial prick who very quickly earned the ire of most of the community.  And, frankly, with good reason.  What's worse is that I sort of mutated in order to partially absorb some of stupidity of the other members, probably as an effort at gaining a small amount of acceptance.

This of course resulted in me being a ruthless antisocial prick who frequently said very stupid things.  Lemme see if I can't just pull some of my less pleasant quotes...

Please don't make a comic just because you haven't made a comic for a while, quality will inevitably be poor.

By the way, nice place. What's the rent?

Okay, we get it already, you're gay. Doesn't mean everyone else has to be.

By the way, it's two "r"s, as in over-rated. Not over-ated, like a MingeBag who's eaten too much.

As for anything helpful to the thread, seeing as there's an opinion from an actual girl (zOMFG!1 H4X!!!1! sndnoodpixplzkthnxbai), I would suggest taking her advice, it's most likely better than the sage advice of virgin male gamers.

(This is, of course, assuming that that is actually a girl, and not some bald, naked fatso who gets kicks out of flirting with other guys over the internet.)

I will admit two things though...   One, I still like that sig.  Two, regardless of how poorly constructed they may have been, I still feel that a lot of my venomous reviews were justified.  I mean, the crap they posted on that site was so bad I can smell it from here.  But I do feel bad about the personal attacks I made and the general unhelpfulness of my posts.  My excuse was that I was a mere sixteen, and thus stupid by definition.

Hmm...  Funny, my account still seems to exist.  I sent an email to the head admin back when I left, asking him to remove my account.  But I just logged in.  Ah well, guess that's just gonna be another footprint from my past.

Uggh...  Those comics...  I need to get that taste out of my mouth.

Well Ark, that was only like half a year ago. Mine were from 2005  ::) Happy you bumped the topic though. I want to see some old shame!

My old shame got deleted with the Auto Assault forums. The general degree of maturity and intellect in the posts there was great (seems Auto Assault mostly appealed to the neckbeard class) and it was my first forum. I jumped from 'lolz I'm so l33t random pwnd' to 'you have a logical fallacy in paragraph 2, line six, in which you explain the significance of total population income/outcome ratios, because you failed to account for population growth and loss'. In about eight months.

I first began actively posting in a forum when I was about 10. Yeah. I was something like a post count whoring combination of Armok and Yanlin. I would dig some of it up but it's all long gone.

The problem is that I have nothing saved anywhere but on DF, and I only joined fairly recently.

But I did suck on Gamefaqs at some point.
But they clear out really fast :P

You think that is bad? I joined a forum when I was eight. Among other trivialities, I Used Caps On Every Letter Like This... But knowledge is power. Mistakes shall be made, so I shall know never to make those mistakes again, no?

We all know it ended terribly. However, I am still clear in no small part due to the fact that those forums were deleted (for lack of money) many, many years ago. Countless millenia, it seems... amazingly, however, it seems the site they were on is still up.

Nevertheless, I shall assume the worst and guess that in ten years I shall be looking back upon today and saying what an insipid fool I was.

As we all have. And, most likely, shall still in the future.

Heheh, yeah, I remember my old days. Used to spell things like "kewl", "hawt", "a'ight", "lololol". I was pretty insistent that I invented the acronym STFU, swore in every sentence, and used to go around explaining the meaning behind my nick every day in IRC. Yeah, bad times. We all grow out of it :P

Want to see some of my old shames? Google Makrond, or better yet Ex_Dont_Kill. (Long story that one).

They are too numerous to list here.

EDIT: Well it seems all the posts I made as Ex_Dont_Kill no longer exist. How unfortunate. I assure you they were the height of sarcastic dickery, however, and I'm not proud of who I was then.

Incidentally that was when I was 12. I'm 18 now and no better. Go figure.

Ahhhh, the god ole' days of Onrpg.com before the complete reconstruction of the website. All my topics - direct attacks on korean mmos. My opinion has not changed. However, my arguments were poorly displayed. And I was preaching to the choir.

Hehehe... I joined fallingsandgames.com when I was what... 11?

IIRC, I called a member a moron or troll or something, then three months later, that member was a moderator.

I occasionally spend time going through my old Facebook activity, and Xfire chatlogs, because I am doggamn hilarious. I sit there reading my own jokes and I laugh aloud at them. Does that make me some sort of narcissistic jerk?

I remember two guys from a forum I used to frequent.  One was a moron and one was a troll.  Much later, they're both top mods on the sister site.
