Spoiler (click to show/hide)

No really, look at this. Encyclopedia Dramatica completely drained my processor power and used amazingly 1.5 gB of stuff crap in Firefox memory.

And I only had a few tabs open.

This really is the most ??? wiki thing after Uncyclopedia's AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA (http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA) page.

Anybody else had any wierd encounter with a wiki?

EDIT: Damn. Forgot the image link.

Just don't go to ED. You are better off. I mean, really, they replace "Youtube" with "Jewtube". It is unfunny bullshit.

Eyes of the beholder.  And considering it, you are not part of their target audience.  And yea, keep out.

That's just going to motivate more people to go to that page. I don't want to think about it too much now lest I need the brain bleach... trust me, you will SCREAM for it. *eurgh*

Still, ED makes great articles sometimes just because they don't need the neutral point of view.

For example, they did point out nicely all the flaws on Fallout series (about how shittingly unrealistic it is about radiation and science in general.)
They might seem a bit over-exaggerating all the facts and they do have lots of porn pics related to that subject (yes, even on Fallout page), but they really hit the nail on some things.

And it's one of the rare sites with a comprehensive report on attack on Scientology by Anonymous.

So I guess it's not all that bad. Even though they have a lot of shock stuff like Goatse.

Keep in mind that Fallout is focused on SCIENCE! in terms of how people saw radition and science in the 1950's. Of course, it is supposed to be unrealistic, the game is based on the incorrect viewpoints of the 1950's, where a real life anyalst stated that it would only take around 20 years for the US to recover from a nuclear war.

To each his own, I guess.

I must say this is the first time I heard of this. Got any cite or something?

Anyway, it is nice to see they don't take sides with any party, even if that means dissing everything. Especially hilarious is how they not only hate Wikipedia, but also mention lots of proof they hate it for. (And it's true too. There are quite a few bat shit crazy moderators in there.)

You guys take this stuff too seriously though. It's a wiki made for the lulz.

But really, is there anyone here that doesn't think ED is a piece of crap with no humor whatsoever?

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/World_of_Tomorrow

Quote
The Fallout world is an anachronistic setting historically divergent from our own, and also is fundamentally different in terms of how science works. The base concept for the setting is a 1950s World of Tomorrow, decimated by a global atomic war. This means that before the war, the Fallout world was more or less what the people of the 1950s thought things would be like in 2077, a future as envisioned through the lens of the Atomic Age and Jet Age. This means hovering housecleaning robots and laser guns were the norm, and automobiles looked like Motorama concept vehicles from the 1950s: massive tail-finned and chromed behemoths but with nuclear fusion engines. At the same time, clothing styles and building interiors and furnishings apparently remained very much stuck in the 1950s. Posters and signage also largely harken to this decade. Radio remains the most common mass media, and food products are based on those popularized in the TV dinner era (boxed macaroni and cheese, canned meat, Salisbury steak TV dinners, etc.).

...

The Fallout world does not merely diverge historically. The laws of physics in the Fallout universe are fundamentally different. The "World of Tomorrow" theme is not limited to what technologies exist and how history unfolded; it also applies to the laws of physics, where Science!, not science, is dominant. In our world, we know that exposure to ionizing radiation merely causes disruptions to cell mitosis (brought on by faulty DNA replication because of the shifting of nucleotides (mainly thymine) by radiation particles), causing cancer and death. In the Fallout world, however, severe radiation isn't always fatal, and it occasionally produces unlikely or impossible mutations including increased size and, in the case of ghouls, extremely long life coupled with a decaying body. Classic movies like Them or The Fifty Foot Woman, in which freak nuclear accidents caused giant ants or people to appear, are good examples of the Fallout universe's take on scientific principles.

All science behaves the way it was popularly portrayed in 1950s pop fiction. For instance, in the Fallout universe, slight irradiation functions like a preservative to keep pre-war foodstuffs edible and unspoiled for hundreds of years. A new beverage product, Nuka-Cola Quantum, deliberately contains a Strontium isotope for lift and kick (and to create an appealing lavender glow!). Finally, functional compact directed energy weapons exist, with a nod to Nikola Tesla's research, and such are capable of burning targets to a pile of ash. Robots are capable of hovering about using tiny jet thrusters that never run out of fuel, presumably due to some sort of internal fuel generating system powered by fusion cells.

I'd like to first point out you stated you gave up then imediately continued the arguement.

On the subject of the DLC you probably should have used a spoiler. Now it is ruined for EVERYONE!

I think the 5 addons that cost 50$ is the real damage bethseda has done. Come on! Back in the day, Developers used to release these things for _FREE_.

As in, I gave up on the subject that it is unrealistic.

Then picked up on the new topic about aliens.

Yeah. Especially how small these are. I mean, an arm and a leg plus your first born baby just for a few lines of code and a couple of megs on meshes and textures.

Weren't you listening? It's not that they didn't have a clue about science, it's that science works in the way they think it work. It's not unrealistic for them, because they live in a totally different universe which validates all their scientific theories. Whether or not its unrealistic in this universe is absolutely irrelevant.

They're, but yes, it is a handwave. It does, however, explain everything and checking out the wiki shows that they went to some lengths to do so.

Still, wouldn't this be at least more public? Like, in the description available everywhere?

WHAT THEY HAVE: Live in the post-apocalyptic America, arising from a vault, to find your Dad.

WHAT THEY SHOULD HAVE: Live in a completely different universe with alienz OMG and lazar guns and everything is different and there is absolutely no connection to the real reality uh. Lulz. LOLZOR OMG oh yeah we rock.

-----------------------------------------

Besides Interplay never intended the Fallout universe. I mean, they made the game for the lulz and with a lot of humor, like playing Tarot with ghouls and such. Then Bethesda came in and made it shit.

What's with Bethesda anyway? There were days like Morrowind and Daggerfall, two great games. Then they started making crap like Oblivion, Fallout 3 etc.

They made Fallout 3 all a serious game, where people try to survive and all.

As opposed to the laughter-packed Fallout 1 and 2, with people making revolts because they felt like it and A LOT of Easter eggs. Like the Police Box in 1, reference to Doctor Who. And in 2, an OOC talk in-game why there are no children anywhere.

Really, I don't know why they didn't just make a new name for F3. Fallout 3 seems too much like pissing on the series.

I played morrowind. I was unimpressed. I feel like I could run around for hours, with nothing to do. Oblivion at least had some great game design in giving me non main story related dungeons.

My dream game - Open world/lots of dungeons of Oblivon/Skill system of Morrowind/A main, endless dungeon like roguelikes/items like roguelikes/godslikeroguelikes.....

GLaDOS quote(directed at bethesda):
"I feel sorry for you, really, because you're not even in the right place.
You should have turned left before."

They made a wrong turn at the exit of ESIII(Though it took them a while to get completely off track)

Edit: also "Good people don't end up here"

Each to their own, I guess. I liked the "Oh my God, you killed Kenny!" in Fo2.
