Title: The adventures of Redshirt, That Robot Dude, and that text that invades our mind
Post by: Dr. Johbson on September 23, 2009, 07:30:26 pm
You awake to the sound of an quiet siren. You remember loud sounds and immense heat. You have a wet object covering your face.

What do you do?

Power.. You suddenly start to feel again. You remember nothing. As you're eyes adjust, you see that a dark storm is drenching the area you are in with rain and lightning. You are in a rocky field, scattered with small groups or grass, of brush. The smell of ozone is heavy. Metal Scraps litter the ground for miles. But something is wrong with your eyes.. They feel wrong.

What do you do?

In other news, I'm hoping you foolish fools understand the format.

EDIT- Pictures done by Someguyo. I guess thats cool. Can be uncanon.

Determine where I am, and examine self.

Examine self.

You remove the wet object from your face, which turns out to be a folded towel, and look around. You see a small computer in the front of an escape pod. You look out the thick, solid window to your right to see space. Empty space. You can see a few distant stars.

You starts to check yourself, for wounds, or defining features. You find nothing, but determine you are a white male.

You struggle to move.. But you stand. You feel tired, yet..Very awake. You look down at your self.. Horror strikes. You are metal. You are a robot.

Do the robot! No, but seriously. Check if you have any special robot powers, such as telescopic vision, or something.

Furthermore, if Johbson doesn't mind, I can try doing some artwork for this, in MSpaint, mind you.

I approve of such actions!

You check your pockets, and find a few things. You find a small vial, with a strange blue, almost glowing liquid. You also find a small, card, with symbols that are alien to you.

You try deeply to remember what happened, but nothing comes back.

Your mind still moving quickly, you try to see what you can do. You feel you know what to do, and you're right. Your vision switches, from thermal, to binoculars..Then, blank. You switch back to normal vision. You focus for a moment, and you begin to scan yourself, physically.

You have a panel on your arm for computer chips and the like. It can hold a max of five, there is one located in it at the moment. You feel charged, but your battery pack in your chest is damaged. It is rapidly losing power. It has been shot multiple times with ballistic-type bullets.

You feel that most of your features are disabled at the moment. You are a light humanoid robot.

First of all, I sent the first picture I made. I'm also only going to do blue, because I'm stubborn like that.

Second of all: Examine the shrapnel surrounding the area.

Second of all: Examine the shrapnel surrounding the area.

You slowly stumble towards the other wreckage. You find the remains, torn apart, and burnt, of other robots, or large peices of what you guess was once part of something larger. On some of the older, deeper pieces, you see moss growing on the scrap metal.

Pour out a little liquid on towel, then go to escape pod

Oh. Guess I didn't word that very well. Forgive me, I meant you are in an escape pod. Small, metal room with escape-y pod things in it.

You uncap the small vial, and pour a tiny amount on the wet towel. The goop jiggles around, but does nothing. It seems to absorb the water, and the goop loses it's colour. You recap the vial.

It's moving, actually. Damn, I forgot to add a few things for Mr. Red Text, didn't I? Just to recap, he is inside a small, moving, escape pod.

Use your binocular vision to scout out for something, anything in the distance. Check how much power you have in your battery.

You look across the field. For quite a while, are you see is more metal wreckage, and pools of water. But, you finally see something far in the distance, below a snowy mountain. It appears to be a building complex of somekind. It it made out of some type of rock, and it is no way within walking distance.

Examine shuttle for anything relating to a navigation computer or a set course for the escape pod.  If not, take controls if any and head towards nearest solar system and crash on planet that's habitable.

Check if solar panels or any other portable energy generator is built in.

Check if solar panels or any other portable energy generator is built in.

You approach the wailing computer panel, still beeping loudly. You press the touch screen, and soon labeled buttons appear on the screen. The symbols written on them are alien, however, and you cannot read what they say.

You try to focus, to study and learn what you are capable of, but you learn nothing. You decide, instead, to read the computer ship in your robotic arm.

It contains basic information about yourself. It suppies your make name, Enhanced Human Light Utitily Droid, Mark One, Number Two, or EHLUD 1:2 for short. You are prized for your ability to preform logic, and make use of your surroundings.

You do not have solar power, however you, energy in the area may be drained to refuel yourself.  Your make is pro-nanotech, whatever that may mean. You were made by a company called STU Co, but no information is given about them, or anything else for that matter.

EDIT- Gah, I am not organized. Forgot to add this to the last post, the one before this one, I mean. Robot-dude is low on energy.

You want to get us mutilated and eaten by aliens? Pfft, but anyway.
Attempt to knock you're brain to see if you know engineering skills.. If you don't examine the nav console or whatever and determine whatever planets there are. Land on a habitable one

-If you do know engineering skills, determine the fuel type that the shuttle uses, scan the nearest gas giants or atmospheres(if there is any)to see if any of them hold amounts of the type of fuel youre using. If so, plot course for them and navigate so the gravitational pull will swing you around as you refuel on the edge of its atmosphere. So you can then hopefully hop around the system and look for the old wreckage of your ship to see if you can salvage anything. See if you have a spacesuit on /w O2 stored.

You hit your head a few times with your fist, trying to remember. Nothing comes back, and now your head only hurts. In fact, you just realized how badly your head is spinning..

You glance out the window. You see a few stars in the distance. Suddenly, you feel the pod jolt, and then come to an immedite halt.

You look around the pod. In the back, there is a small shelf above the airlock door.

Create a conclusion to why we're here.
Check out that building complex.

You step away from the computer console, and you open the shelf. Inside, you find a belt with a holster, a small laser pistol, an oxygen tank complete with mask, and finally, a backpack full of space rations.

Remembering only fire, and pain, you believe that you were on a spaceship as it was attacked. What happened afterwards, you have no idea.

You check your pockets again. The vial remains, as long as the alien card with symbols on it.
You have no visible wounds, and you are wearing a leather jacket, on top of a long-sleeved shirt. Your pants are a fine cloth. Your shoes shine a dull black, some type of leather as well.

Your eyes flicker around the room again..And you notice something. You rush over to the window, and try to get the best view that you can, of whats behind the pod. You see a small ship, thats docking onto you. It won't be long until it docked.

The complex is very far away. It would take ages to walk there.

Done for the night, I need some sleep for now. Keep sending in your actions, though, I'll try to work them all in.

You quickly put on all the emergency gear, and you move yourself behind the chair in front of the computer console, as cover. Slowly, the pod docks with the ship. The pounding of metal is heard, but soon it is replaced with a quiet hum.

You turn around for a moment, trying to lock the door with the console, but its symbols are still no help, and pressing buttons at random seems a bad idea. The power on your pod cuts out for a moment, then the airlock door grinds its self open.

Your head buzzing, you conceal yourself on the chair. After a while, You begin to hear slow footsteps, with muffled speaking. Spinning out from your cover, you yell out to them, telling them that you're a friend. You see two human men, with guns. They are wearing cheap looking uniforms, and are quite surprised. Their guns were raised to waist height, but the one in the back dropped his.You raise your small pistol to them, shaking.

The one in the back raises his his arms above his head, but the other one growls at you. He raises his pistol a tiny bit..

Whether from fear, or instinct, or something else, your finger moves of its own accord, and you fire at him. You try to calm your hand, but it is futile. You continue to fire at them, and you cannot even pry the gun from your hands. You fire at them uncontrollably, until your weapon is out of charge. Their screams slowly die out. Your finger is still twitching, and you slowly sink to the floor. Both the men are very dead.

Lightning strikes within meters of yourself. You scan the area, and notice something you didn't notice before. Where the lightning just hit, there is a small hatch door, underneath a dead droid, just over a small hill.

You approach it. On the door, you see the faded words, graffitied onto the hatch, 'Trespassers will be scientifically tested on.'   /color]

Search the nearby wreckage for an alternate power supply.

You decide to acquire more power, which is good, because you are very low, and your functions are starting to shut down. You move next to a large pile of rubble, and focus to drain what power you can from them. Your power raises slightly, then lightning strikes you. You reboot, but more of your functions appear to be damaged again. Thermal Vision is your last one.

Maybe you shouldn't do that in a lightning storm.

Go to the hatch and examine it. If there are no distinguishing marks then attempt to open the hatch, moving the wrecked droid if necessary.

I suggest taking some spare parts somewhere comparatively safe and attempting repairs.

Limegreen text feels itself growing, decides that it likes it, and goes viral. Limegreen text thinks about this and suspects that it is a sentient computer virus.

You drag yourself over to the hatch door, moving the robot off. The hatch is rusted shut, but after a few pulls you manage to get it open. Your sensors pick up the smell of mold, moss, and other plants. You climb down a small ladder, away from the storm, and into a, hopefully, safe place.

The place is dark, and without power, and the hallway you are in is made of solid metal. Strange, non-humanlike  bones litter the floor. Besides the ladder back up, there is an exposed control panel. A few wires have been cut, and rerouted, and there is a skeleton of whom appears to belong to a human, slouched underneath the panel. Near him, you see a pair of wirecutters.

Calculate the cubic root of pi to as many decimals as you can in 10 seconds, to figure out a bit about how good hardware and software you're running on.Try to get more low-level access to the systems you are running on, it is extremely unlikely a computer powerful enough to run a sentience wouldn't have any stray text files with some info.

Nothing left now but to commit to it. pick up all the guns and CHAAAARGE!!!(through the airlock)

You still feel..Off, from that lightning blast. While fully charged, you decide to do some advanced math to see what you are capable of. You really have to focus to get the right answers, but you do.

You re-read the computer chip in your arm. Comparing it to a scan of yourself, you find you are missing quite a few pieces of hardware, or what you have has been damaged to an unrepairable shape. You would go on to read more, but the chip was damaged by the lightning.

You approach the panel, moving aside the bones. Upon closer inspection of the panel, you find that it is a power control panel, and that power has been cut and rerouted to other locations. You feel the wires for power, but very little remains. However, a sudden burst of power could probably revive what there is, if only for a small amount of time.

The footsteps get louder, slowly. Little radios on the deadmen ask if they are there. After a few more tries, they go silent. You take fallen guns, deciding that you might as well finish what you started, and that you probably never really liked people anyway.

You run out. Your eyes glance down the slender hallways, and you see three more people to your right. They also seem to be surprised by you, perhaps more than they should be. You duck behind a corner, and fire a few shots at them before they come to their senses.

They scream, and yell words at you, but your ears ring, and you can't understand them. Your vision starts to fade..You lose the grip on your weapons. You slowly fall to the floor..

You awake. You are standing in the hallway, over three dead men. Their heads have been brutally smashed into the metal hallway and grinded down to nothing. You look down at your self.. You are covered in blood. And you feel perfectly fine. Your headache is finally gone.

YAY, we have found the perfect cure for headaches!!!

Try to trace the power lines back to a generator.

Look for a medical facility.

You feel the wires again, and make a 'mental' map of the wires. You can only read the local area however. You walk in the direction of the believed generator.

As you walk down the hallway, stepping over deformed bones and human bones, as well as the occasional unsalvageable torn apart robot, you see some steel doors have been welded shut. All vents have been blockaded and reinforced with welded metal as well. The left over clothing, now without colour, can be seen on most almost every skeleton. Mainly labcoats, but every once in a while there is an armored vest or something of the like.

You finally arrive at where you believe the generator to be. It is down a few fleets of stairs in the maze that is this bunker. One of the two double, steel doors has been pried open. You step inside the room. From the looks of it, this is an old nuclear reactor. There is a computer panel a little ways in front of you. A sign overhangs the entrance. "Warning, Robotic Service Only. Dangerous to Humans and Drycans. Damaged AI Units see nano repair cylinder located in maintenance."

You slowly step away from the corpses. You drag yourself down the hallway, peering in doorways as you pass. You find what looks to be storage, but you pass that for now. You have found a small medical room, with one bed and one computer, equiped with basic space-medical gear.

EDIT- Also, I'm taking suggestions for a less horrible topic name.

The computer beeps once more, then you can feel it scanning you. A light laser passes from the top of your body, slowly down to your feet.

"One moment.. Dangerous organism located. Administrating deadly toxins.'

The lights in the room turn a deep red. The door locks it's self automatically, and you hear it bolting shut.

Green gas leaks from the corners of the small rooms. Luckily, you are still wearing your oxygen tank and mask. But it still appears you are trapped.

You rip your laser pistol from your holster, and aim it at the console. You grumble out a cheesy one-liner, and pull the trigger. Click. Oh, right, it's charge is all gone. Damn it all.

You stare at the steel panel the computer rests on. You know that you can't pull it out of the wall, but you figure you might as well try, if only for more cinematic effect. You grip the computer, and pull with all your might. Nothing happens, and now your back is sore. Suddenly, you hear the unmistakable sound of a charging warp drive. Particle by particle, the ship, and you, are torn apart. In an instant, you are resembled. You lurch forwards, losing your balance, you fall.

You stand up, and pick up your pistol again. You cry out as you smash the console screen with it. It slowly losing brightness before it turns black. The room however, is still being gassed, and the door is still shut.

There is nothing to do but wait. Hopefully you have enough oxygen to last you.

You approach the computer panel. It is covered with dust, and out of power. You take the panel off the console, from behind, exposing it's wires.

They have not been cut, so this console should work, if it had power. You think for a moment, and decide to try something. You focus your ability to drain energy, but this time you try to emit it outwards. Lights flicker, in this room, and down the hallway, as you slowly drain yourself. The console finally beeps to life, but you are already feeling weak and low on power.

You search yourself for wounds, again. You find nothing bandages would help with.

You stare at the steel door. You remember that steel is greater then leather boot, and you decide not to kick it.
You take your roll of bandage, and stuff them into tiny balls, shoving them each into a hole in one of the corners. You feel if anything is coming out with your hand..Nothing! Congratulations. You have stopped the gas from leaking into your room.

Until you remember that the room is already full of gas. Damn it all again.

Curse yourself for destroying your best chance for figuring out why you feel funny over a little thing like trying to kill you. Search the room for a concentrated oxygen dispenser. Find something heavy and try to bash a hole through the walls.

We already searched the room and jammed the gas vents, we're just stuck.
And I consider its the adventures of Redshirt, That Robot dude, and that text thats invading our minds.

You press the console. It slowly simmers into life. "Welc-Zzzt. How can I ass-zzzt- you. Available comma-zzzt- are; Refil wa-zzzt. Start reactor. Continue last cance-zzzt..mand."

You look at your commands. You sigh. Space ships are made of steel, not tofu! And you already have an oxygen tank. Its how you're not dead.

You feel the ship lurch again. From memory, you believe you are being docked with. Again.

Also, I like that title phantom. Hope you don't mind if I STEAL IT! Thank you.

Start the reactooooor!

Switch to darkling theme!

You reply, "Start reactor." You hear the reactor starting up, slowly. Rusty metal gears scrape away, and the sound rings throughout the entire complex. Immediately the lights flicker on in the reactor room.  You peer out the doorway. Lights turn on for the first time, in probably years.

For a moment, it all seems fine. Then all the lights die out again. They flash back on, but this time, they are red. Sirens start up. An old robotic voice can be heard over an intercom. "Evacuate immediately. Subject A has escaped. I repeat, Subject A has escaped. This is not a drill."  This message loops on the intercom.

You go off to sulk with green text in the corner.

Request details of subject A, request map of facility.

Attempt to operate the medical scanner manually and self-diagnose.

Well, considering we're going to have to wait ingame, i guess we should give our redshirt something to do. I mean, he feels shitty.

Wank off.

Ask the medical scanner to identify the dangerous lifeform. It's probably redshirt, but what is he?
Edit: oops, the color didn't show up the first time.

Don't worry about Redshirt, stuff will happen. I just wanted to give you guys time in case you wanted to do something crazy, or creative.

You approach the back of the wire-exposed console, and you slowly drain energy until you're full again.

The intercom is..An intercom. They don't work two-way. Besides, its a recorded message.

I'll add more in a sec.

EDIT- You wait, for what seems like hours. You are both hungry and thirsty, but theres nothing you can do in a gas filled room. You finally have heard something. You jump up, listening quietly. There are footsteps, and voices. You cannot make out what they say.

Oh, my mistake, I thought that the computer panel might still work.

Look for a working computer panel and request a map of the facility.

Hide.

Hide, while fists are ready.

You approach the computer panel again. You ask it for a map. You hear a click, and a few moments later a small computer chip slides out the top of the console. You plug it in your arm, and you now have a map of this large complex. Notable areas being Reactor Alpha,Maintenance, Armory, Research Labs, Medical Labs, Landing Pad, Reactor Beta, Security Alpha, Security Beta, and Containment Zone: Subject A, listing from closest to farthest.

You slip underneath the bed, ready for anything. The footsteps are definitely getting louder.

Get out from under the bed, lean next to door, preform CQC if person/robot is hostile

Better idea.

Quickly unstuff the bandages, when the person/robot comes in if their hostile rip off their gas mask and throw them in towards the center of the room, head out and close the door

The footsteps stop outside the door. For a moment, silence. Then, a knock. "Hey in there. Anyone in here? Anyone alive?" A male voice is heard through the door.

Request that security sections be sealed then proceed to maintenance and seek repairs.

"something was attacking people out there, I heard it coming and hit the emergency quarantine button. We've got to get out of here!"

(most of these steps do not build on having done all the others, so just do as many as possible even if a few proves problematic):Request a dump of [wikipedia-equivalent], any technical references available (especially DETAILED specks of yourself and/or as many as possible of your components), then check map for repair facilities, and go there and fix yourself up. Then go find some reserve for standby/unused tech, and build a rig that you can hook yourself up to for doing computationally intensive tasks. If you find things that are easily mobile that you don't already have and that seem useful, install those in yourself, either in an intended manner or just open yourself up and hook them up redneck style. Another thing to acquire if possible is any kind of networking or communication hardware, either something mobile you can install in yourself, or if it requires some kind of huge antenna hook it up to the stationary rig.If there is hardware for it, you might even consider creating a remote link to the computer complex you rigged up before, getting that computer power (and potentially communications, access to the systems of this base, and other things you managed to hook up to it) without having to lug it around. Depending on how your mind is set up software-wise it might also be possible to make a backup to the stationary rig. If you find some other useful tool or any other hardware that might be useful for self improvement (or just usefull for something else) obviusly get that to.

You cough, at first. "Yeah, I'm..I'm Alive. Something attacked the crew, I..I don't know what happened.. It..It wasn't human, or even a robot, it was.." You cough again. It's hard considering you are wearing a mask."Unnatural."

Silence is heard from the door at first. "We're coming in. Can you open this door, or do we have to get an engineering team down here?"

I'll continue the blue robot guy later. I'm not really a fan of the direction he's going in. Too slow. Might have to come up with a few things first.

Makes some sounds by kicking the door
When they come in say
"Did you guys see the thing that attacked me? By the way, I think this gas is radioactive, and the enemy has a stealth generator, something for spies or something called a Stealth Boy, and um, ammo please?"
