Title: Curse you microsoft works!
Post by: Strife26 on October 18, 2009, 11:30:57 pm
I'm running a newer version of Vista, and working on a forum game.
If I try to copy and paste something from the forum into a works document, it crashes. About half of the time, it will recover it, but no joy rest of the time. I've been getting around it by pasting into notepad, then copy pasting into the document.

Does anyone know what the heck is up with this?

No idea. My Microsoft works... well... Works perfectly. (though it does have a conversion problem)

Though I don't use Vista on the computer that has it.

It's the formatting of websites. When pasting it directly into works, works tries to keep all the formatting. Pasting it into notepad just pastes plain text, no formatting.

I know in word that there is a paste with no formatting option, which amounts to the same as pasting it into notepad and then into word.

Aye generally when you do a copy paste there a drop down box ye can click usually in the bottom right hand corner of the text you just copied (note you can't click anywhere else or you'll likely lose it). Hit that and theres an option for keeping just the text and not the formatting.

I love the irony in the title.

I love the irony in the title.

It's must be subtle subconcious programming, we all know microsoft is so evil that they cant even name their products in a non-evil way :p

But yeah, I dont have Vista so I wouldnt realy know, but does it still come with notepad?
Otherwise, why dont you try out Open Office? It's free, does the same things and works pretty much like MS-office.

If only OpenOffice Impress is as polished as PPT 2007...

Damn, the ribbon...
I am addicted to the evil Micro$oft! Woe to be me!

So, I'm serious.  I love Microsoft.  Partially because their stuff does what it's supposed to do and isn't nearly as unstable as everyone loves to say it is.

Also, I've found that a lot of the people who hate it are really irritating to be around.

Completely agreed.
The Mac adverts are gut-twistingly smug and patronising.
