RAM and Arbiter begin the battle with an equal exchange! Arbiter remains stationery and deploys a shield that easily absorbs RAM's laser fire, but his powerful Pulverizer torpedo only makes a tiny dint as RAM skillfully evades most of the devastating blast!
The match between Siquo and Poultron has also begun, and the opponents drew first hydraulic liquid! Hoping for a clear shot, Siquo deploys his reflectors and lets loose a barrage of missiles, but his opponent counters with a massive torpedo! The blast knocks Siquo's mech clear across the arena and into the sidewall! Please note, spectators will be charged for any mech parts they pick up as souveniers. Meanwhile, half of Siquo's missiles went wide, blinded by Poultron's reflector shield, but the other half struck true, leaving sizeable holes in Poultron's armor! Siquo barely manages to get his crippled mech to its feet, what a beginning for the first RPS Mecha Tournament!
And now the first shots are fired in the fight between PrinnyBaal and Cluster! PrinnyBaal releases a Pulverizing bundle of death at Cluster, who responds with a Revenger swarm! PrinnyBaal's shining shields lead half the missiles astray, but his present is under heavy PD fire from Cluster! It explodes! The smoke clears, and the opponents are still standing, one slightly more battered than the other! What a fight!
Siquo picks himself up from the dirt and manuevers into position! The crowd goes wild as both opponents seem to release packs of missiles at each other! Point defences kick in on both mechs, and the arena lights up with many explosion! One, three, six! But what's this? Siquo didn't fire missiles, that thing is a torpedo! Poultron's turrets keep firing, but it's already too close! What a blast! Poultron cannot keep control and falls over, comically waving his legs in the air. No, he's got it back now. Poultron is up again, and ready to continue fighting despite the damage!Siquo: Not hit, 3 remaining.
Over at arena three, the combatants are circling around each other, waiting for an opening. The Arbiter suddenly lets loose a Revenger rack! RAM counterattacks with a torpedo, and boy, was it the right choice! Arbiter's point defences couldn't shoot the Pulverizer down in time, and his mech is caught in a bright fireball! Smaller balls of fire in front of RAM's machine signifies the failure of Arbiter's missiles, as his enemy's own point defences took them down. The Arbiter staggers back, but his machine is still in top fighting shape, he is still going strong!I'll pair 'em up this time.
Right next door, PrinnyBall executes a daring plan! Rapidly accelerating, he closes the distance to Cluster and lets loose with the Revengers! Only partially expecting this manuever, Cluster fires his lasers on PrinnyBaal as he speeds past, allowing his reflectors to spoof some of the missiles! PrinnyBaal circles around and returns to his original position, his mech sporting a new, if small, scorch mark. Cluster recovers from the missiles that hit and continues the fight!
OOH, Look, what an exchange! The fourth arena lights up with many colors as the opponents duke it out on equal footing! Missile after missile, Poultron's barrage is taken down by Siquo's defences, and Siquo's own laser blasts are ineffectually splattering against Poultron's reflectors, creating mad disco-lighting with lasers and smoke! Truly, this arena has seen no fight more beautiful than this!
The fight heats up at the fourth arena, where Siquo and Poultron are down to their final scraps of armor! Both machines are heavily beat up, there's no telling who of them is going to win, and there they go! Poultron releases another barrage, hoping to get his opponent through consistent behavior, but it doesn't work! Siquo keeps his point defences running, and his mech is surrounded by clouds of smoke! Poultron's defence turrets rotate ominously, he expects a return volley and OH MY GOD! As if hit by a shining three-pronged spear, Poultron's mech explodes! His ejector seat barely had time to launch, his machine is completely obliterated by Siquo's Scorcher! Ladies and gentlemen, we have our first semi-finalist! SIQUO!
The fight has finally begun at arena one! Kashyyk, appearing late from the hangar, opens the battle with a Scorcher shot, but makes only glancing contact on his fast-moving adversary! Ajax skids to a stop and releases six Revenger missiles, converging on Kashyyk's Achilles mech! But he is ready, a barrage of point defence fire leaves no missile flying and covers the arena with smoke!
The fight continues, and Kashyyk charges at Ajax, boosters and lasers flaring through the smoke! But look, it seems Ajax has seen through his cunning plan! Lasers bounce harmlessly off suddenly-appearing reflective coating of Ajax's mech, and the six-pack of Revengers shoots from his shoulder-rack and heads straight for the Achilles! Kashyyk fumbles with the controls, but fails to stop the charge and collects all six of the missiles! He tumbles to the ground and comes to a stop in a smoking heap!Kashyyk: Hit for 6, 4 remaining.
The fight heats up in the remaining arenas, as the combatants are rapidly running out of armor! RAM charges at his opponent with full speed, but Arbiter anticipates it and tries to boost out of reach! Ouch, those Revenger missiles have really scored a hit on RAM's machine, but he comes out of the smoke and RAMS into Arbiter's mech! What a powerful melee attack, Arbiter may be out of the fight! RAM walks away.. no, look, Arbiter's mech is still moving! It's down to just its endoskeleton, but it still manages to stand up! Impressive determination on Arbiter's part, he shows he will not go down without a good show!RAM: Hit for 5, 4 remaining.
In the next arena, PrinnyBaal takes it slow after the previous attack and launches a volley of missiles at his opponent, who responds in kind... with a torpedo! Both pilots engage point defences, and PrinnyBaal takes a heavy hit when the Pulverizer's warhead explodes too close to him! Cluster is unscathed this time, but both machines are heavily damaged, and there's no telling how long they will be able to hold!
As both machine's resources come to an end, RAM and Arbiter concentrate on manuevering, waiting for a clear shot. RAM suddenly accelerates! Arbiter's aim is thrown off, but his Scorcher scores a glancing hit across RAM's cockpit, that has GOT to hurt! Arbiter's mech deploys reflectors, expecting a response in kind, but RAM launches a pack of Revengers instead! RRRREVENGE! Arbiter desperately tries to evade! Two, four, five missiles missed! The last one weaves erratically, and BAM! Arbiter's mech has lost a leg to a direct hit into the joint! This fight is over ladies and gentlemen, Arbiter gets out of his crippled machine and we congratulate our second semi-finalist, RAM!RAM: Hit for 2, 2 remain.
The battle is approaching a grand finale in the second arena, where PrinnyBaal and Cluster have all but exhausted each other's strength. Both competitors accelerate simultaneously, opening fire with their weapon of choice! Cluster's Scorcher shot almost misses, but still takes out a large portion of PrinnyBaal's mech, sending it tumbling to the ground! Cluster stops his machine and looks around, expecting an attack to strike him. But PrinnyBaal's Pulverizer torpedo harmlessly explodes against the far sidewall. Emergency medical team requested at sector 17, front row. Note to spectators - you were advised against purchasing front row seats for precisely this reason. Back on the arena, PrinnyBaal climbs out of his mech and throws his helmet to the ground in frustration. The fight for him is over, and we congratulate our third semi-finalist, CLUSTER!PrinnyBaal: Hit for 3, -1 remaining.
The last match of the first bout continues, Kashyyk and Ajax circle around the arena and exchange powerful blows! Letting his Revengers fly, Kashyyk enables the Achilles's reflectors and easily withstands Ajax's laser blast, but Ajax just as easily clears the missiles out of the sky with point defence fire! With both opponents still in good fighting shape, this match may well become the longest in RPS Tournament history!Kashyyk: Not hit, 4 remaining.
The battle heats up between Kashyyk and Ajax, the final entrants in this tournament's first bout! Kashyyk lines up his torpedo tube with Ajax's mech and fires! Ajax mistakenly activated the gun turrets, and they barely manage to shoot the Pulverizer down! He returns fire with a six-missile salvo, of which only one actually hits the Achilles! Seeing his mech being worn down, Kashyyk activates his own defences and launches Revengers at Ajax! But only one missile hits Ajax, and his Pulverizer explodes too close to the Achilles! The custom-made mech is losing power, its control system is damaged! Kashyyk ejects from his machine, and it's good-bye another contender! Still standing in his machine is our fourth semi-finalist, AJAX!Kashyyk: Hit for 1, 3 remaining.
Before the semifinals start, we have an announcement. Due to sudden health problems, Cluster can not participate further. Taking his place is his companion, HAIKA! He is already on the arena, ready to face off with the winner of the last round, AJAX! And they're off! Haika charges at his opponent from the get-go, raising his mech's limbs for a melee attack! But what's this? Ajax attacks with Revengers, and there are not six, but seven of them! Only three manage to hit Haika as he charges, but they are enough to completely enrage him! Picking up speed, he rams Ajax with a FLYING KICK!! Oh my god, that will DEFINITELY leave a mark! Ajax is quick to get up, but his mech is seriously crippled. He manages to launch one more pack of Revengers while Haika rapidly manuevers into position, and this time SIX of the missiles find their target! Haika's mech loses balance and falls on its back, but not before he releases a Revenger salvo! Most of it goes into the sky, though. No, look, one missile has a lock on Ajax, WILL IT HIT?! YEEES, IT HITS! Ajax punches out of the crippled machine as it falls down in flames, what a rapid resolution we have just seen, the opponent is down with just two moves! Haika is unable to get up, but he is not out of the fight, and the first semi-finals victory goes to HAIKA!!!Haika: Hit for 3, 7 remaining.
While we wait for the last round of Group A to begin, let's turn our attention to arenas three and four, where the losers of the quarterfinal fight against each other! This is long, so I'll concatenate:
PrinnyBaal and Arbiter open up with salvos of Revenger missiles! It's hard to tell whose missiles are whose on the arena, but PrinnyBaal's point defence easily picks off the ones aimed for his mech. Arbiter fires his boosters and attempts to evade, but one missile has his name on it and hits him despite his efforts! PrinnyBaal switches to laser fire, and his opponent continues the mirror mania! This time, the lasers bounce ineffectually off Arbiter's shields, and PrinnyBaal's manuevers only lessen the damage!
While we watched, Siquo and RAM have finally left their hangars and have begun the second semi-finals fight of the tournament! Trying for a one-shot ending, RAM shoots a torpedo at his opponent! Siquo skillfully evades, but still gets caught in the blast, retaliating with Scorcher fire! RAM's defence choice is excellent, and his mech is perfectly protected by reflector shields. It should be noted that RAM's mech looks rather beat-up already, it seems the pilot has had better things to do than repair his machine - let's hope his choice works out well for him!
Meanwhile, Group B fights continue to escalate! Kashyyk begins his match against Poultron with a direct hit to his opponent's torso! The Pulverizer throws Poultron's mech to the ground, but half of his Revenger missiles manage to reach the repaired Achilles! The explosions shatter the mech's shoulder armor, exposing the endo-frame! Poultron tries to take advantage of his foe, launching a Pulverizer, but Kashyyk recuperates in time to attempt an evasion! What a blast, the Achilles is damaged by shrapnel even at this distance! Kashyyk serves his revenge with missiles! Oh, but Poultron is ready for them, the Revengers are shot down and Kashyyk is mad with rage!
And back to the fight in arena three, where opponents continue the dance of destruction! PrinnyBaal scores a laser hit on Arbiter as he tries to dodge his opponent's missile salvo! Both mechs are damaged, and the opponents suddenly decide to split apart! PrinnyBaal and Arbiter simultaneously boost away from each other, at the same time showering the area with missiles! Vapor trails everywhere, it's hard to see who hits whom! Whoa, some missiles collide in flight! Explosions and smoke conceal most of the arena, but we can see that each mech has suffered at least two hits! This fight is drawing to a close, ladies and gentlemen, no way these two fighters can keep this tempo up much longer.
RAM and Siquo show their mettle as they inexplicably predict each other's moves! Both mechs have simultaneously opened Scorcher fire at each other, and both have activated reflectors to protect themselves, resulting in a pretty, but dangerous light show! Emergency medical teams requested to sector 6, row seven, and sector 2, row fifteen. Spectators are again reminded that full face shaded masks are not given out as souveniers on the arena!RAM: Not hit, 6 remaining.
In a marvellous display of solidarity, the opponents continue to stand apart and pound on each other with powerful lasers! It does no good to either, because both have kept their shields on, and reflected rays are beginning to melt through Arena Standard protective masks! Emergency medical teams requested in sectors 1, 3, 6, and 7! Get someone into our booth as well, I think I'm getting sunburn. Spectators warning: it is advised to refrain from prolonged looking on the combatants until further notice.Siquo: Not hit, 7 remaining.
can ye believe it?Doubting to answer either:
Now that I can finally see again, it seems RAM and Siquo have broken up the stalemate and are closing in for the final blows! Reflector shields shine again, the opponents are closing in samurai-style! RAM launches missiles! Siquo releases a torpedo! The combined explosions obscure the combatants, who will emerge out of the smoke first? Its... SIQUO! The smoke clears, and we can see RAM's mech collapsing to the ground! The second match of the semifinals is over, and SIQUO enters the final match to compete for the grand prize! Having lost the fight, RAM is moved into Group B, and will still participate in the fight for the third place!Siquo: Hit for 3, 4 remaining.
But what's this? Things are beginning to heat up in Group B as well! PrinnyBaal charges towards Arbiter, showering him with Revengers! Arbiter manuevers, returning fire with the Scorcher! His shields don't protect against explosions, but only one missile reaches him, he is one lucky pilot! PrinnyBaal moves back, keeping his distance.. and his mech suddenly falls over! I'm not sure what happened, but it seems PrinnyBaal is out for the count! Yes, the control teams report power system failure in PrinnyBaal's machine, metal could not withstand the stress the pilot put it through! And, remaining in Group B, Arbiter continues the fight for the third place in the tournament!
We return to the RPS Arena, where pilots test their skills and luck in deadly battlemech combat! Just now, the match between the two trailing competitors of the tournament has begun, and HOLfzzzzhrhzzzzhzhrzzzIT!!! A massive explosion has just occured in Arena four! PrinnyBaal and Poultron must have decided to redecorate the arena with a massive crater down its center! Two Pulverizer torpedoes have collided in midair, sending a resounding shockwave through the entire arena complex! Where are the competitors?! The fireball dissipates now... and we can see PrinnyBaal and Poultron both standing, both intact! PrinnyBaal seems to have suffered some damage from the blast, but it's nothing short of a miracle considering how close he was to the inferno!PrinnyBaal: Hit for 1, 9 remaining.
Looking back at the 2nd arena, we see that RAM and Ajax have already finished repairs as well! AND THEY'RE OFF! RAM bursts forward and opens a can of whoopass on Ajax, but his precision laser strikes ineffectually bounce off Ajax's reflectors! Ajax returns fire, burning dark trails across the sidewall as most of his lasers miss RAM's machine! While not as destructive, openings like these are the reason why the RPS tournament is regarded as the greatest sport conceived by man!Ajax: Not hit, 10 remaining.
And the fight continues! PrinnyBaal and Poultron fill the arena with a cloud of missiles! I guess they like their revenge served HOT! PrinnyBaal activates shields and attempts to waltz out of harm's way, but he stumbles and falls! That's not going to end well! On the other hand, his opponent managed to completely fumble his dodge attempt, and most of PrinnyBaal's Revengers have struck true! Oh, PrinnyBaal gets up, he wasn't hit! Poultron's missiles didn not hit him, but he did get damaged in the fall. Whether intended or not, the manuever deserves praise! Just don't let your piloting instructor see you pulling it off.PrinnyBaal: Hit for 2, 7 remaining.
A little late, but fitting in the schedule, Kashyyk runs out of the barracks in his custom-made Achilles! Giving Arbiter no chance to even come into position, he opens fire! Scorching lasers burn bright paths through the air, but Arbiter reflects them away and responds with missiles! Boom, boom, all the missiles are shot down! It seems the last match has finally brought out the hidden skills of all the fighters in the tournament, if only they could display such skills in the first bout!PrinnyBaal:Hit for 2, 7 remain.
And now we see Poultron, rapidly approaching PrinnyBaal and firing his missiles! PrinnyBaal evades... but there's no escape, two missiles finally catch him! He responds with missiles of his own, RREVEEENGE! Poultron is caught flat-footed at close range, and most of the missiles slam into him! A very good move from PrinnyBaal, will he be able to keep it up?
Fighting for third place, RAM and Ajax race around the arena on turbo-boosters! One fires Revengers! The other attacks with lasers! Which of them is which? Now we can see, it was Ajax firing his expanded missile rack, and it seems RAM has greatly suffered! But RAM's empowered laser is no peashooter, and has burned a sizeable hole in Ajax's mech as well! We'll see how this fight develops, and now...
Now we see the opening of the most important event, the fight for first place in the first RPS tournament! Haika, having replaced Cluster after the first match, and Siquo, having three wins in a row, finally meet together for a showdown of epic proportions! The fight begins! Haika releases a torpedo and opens spread fire with the point defence systems, anticipating Siquo's Revenger salvo! But Siquo shows his skills and quickly moves out of the Pulverizer's way, remaining unhurt when it explodes agains the sidewall! Both stand unharmed, this is the way RPS elite fight their battles!
The battle continues in the third arena, where Arbiter and Kashyyk exchange equal blows! Just now, Kashyyk skillfully evaded Arbiter's torpedo, and Arbiter shot down Kashyyk's Revengers! If only these contestants could display such prowess in the first bouts!Siquo: Hit for 3, 5 left.
Now we see Poultron making a bold move against PrinnyBaal! Enduring the heavy hit from PrinnyBaal's lasers, he charges his mech forward and POW!!! What a great uppercut manuever by Poultron, PrinnyBaal could barely keep his mech standing! Poultron seems to be heavily damaged as well, the next exchange could be their last!
And back in the third arena, Kashyyk and Arbiter are trying to make an early fourth of July! Point defences on both machines open spread fire across the arena, and bright Scorcher beams shine through the flak clouds! Both mechs are hit! It seems this fight is far from over, the combatants predict or copy each other's moves, it's nothing short of a miracle their earlier opponents could overcome them!
The match for third place looks like it might end sooner, because both RAM and Ajax are very worn out. RAM seems tired, as he hardly manuevers when Ajax launches Revengers at him! Luck and reflectors have saved him, but his mech is barely standing. He counterattacks! Oh, but his laser shot barely grazes Ajax as he evades. RAM has to pull off a tiny miracle if he wants to prevail in the match!
And in the first arena, Haika goes all-out and shoulder-tackles Siquo! Oh, what an impact it could have been, but Siquo is on his toes! Like a matador out of hell, he lets Haika pass with only a grazing hit, and discharges Scorchers into his back! Haika attempts to dodge! A valiant effort, but he's too close, his back armor is melted! Watch that back now Haika, we cannot let this fight end early!
This tournament approaches its grand finale! Kashyyk and Arbiter close in, weapons firing! Kashyyk fires lasers! Arbiter launches missiles! Ouch, it seems they read each other's minds too much - each chose a defence against his own attack, both are hit! Arbiter is barely standing, Kashyyk is just a little better off, but the battle still continues!PrinnyBaal: Hit for 6, -4 left.
Next to them, PrinnyBaal charges at Poultron with a desire to SMASH! Boosters firing, he drives his mech's fist forward! But Poultron responds with missiles, and most of them slam straight into PrinnyBaal, this will not end well! Spouting flames and smoke, PrinnyBaal collides with Poultron! Both machines are out, neither can get up! Poultron and PrinnyBaal hastily exit their machines, and the fire teams are on the field to put out the flames! It seems this battle will be resolved by the judges' decision.
And while we wait, look at 'em go! Kashyyk and Arbiter speed towards each other in a crazed game of chicken! Now both launch missiles, which easily track the massive heat exhausts! Holy Saturn, they are not going to make it! What a crash! A massive fireball is all that is left now of our combatants, I fear we may have lost.. no, wait! I see the ejector seats, both pilots are safe! Their mechs are completely totaled, fire teams are already on the field and trying to douse the burning wrecks so that the judges can identify which mech begins where. Not even our repair teams will be able to repair that kind of damage.
And while the judges are at it, let's look at arena two, the battle for third place! RAM bets it all on his empowered laser, discharging it into his opponent's torso! But Ajax is unharmed! Reflector shields have saved his day. Now confident in his victory, he unloads another Revenger swarm! Poor RAM, how he tries to evade, but there's no escape from Revenge! One, two, two blasts! Oh, it seems like RAM's machine is failing! He struggles to keep control, but even I see the fountain of hydraulic oil that spurts out of the mech! Yes, the fight for him is OVER! Ajax opens his mech's canopy and stands up to hear the deafening cheers of the crowd, he is this tournament's third place winner! RAM has to contend himself with the fourth.
Wait a minute.. yes, the judges' decisions for the groups C and D are ready now. Leading by three points of damage, the fifth place of the tournament goes to.. KASHYYK! The final attack has nearly destroyed Arbiter's mech, and he is left with the sixth place. And, also leading by three points of damage, the seventh place of the tournament goes to... POULTRON! PrinnyBaal's luck has failed him in the end, and he is left in the eighth place of our tournament.
And now, for the final showdown. All the other contestants now watch from the sidelines, cheering for one or the other - Haika and Siquo are locked in combat for the first RPS Tournament's Grand Prize!
Both still in top shape, the combatants walk around the arena. The tension in the air is palpable, neither pilot knows the other's intentions, and both wait for an appropriate moment. And they move in! Finally, the winner will be decided! They pick up speed... they run toward each other! No boosters, no flashy effects, just pure mechanical force! They aim weapons! I can see their defences activating, and HOfzzzhhhhrhhrrrrfzzzzhiiiiiii*tap*. Okay, ladies and gentlemen, this is another arena ruined. A massive ball of fire is all that is visible now in the center of Arena 1. It seems both contestants have simultaneously released torpedoes, which exploded right in the center, between Haika and Siquo. Our control teams report contact loss with both machines, there may be no hope of survival for the pilots. No, wait! What is this! It is... Haika! Haika's mech is barely holding together, but he exits the smoke-filled crater on its own legs! It's dragging something behind it... and yes, it seems that Siquo is also safe, his mech clinging to Haika's with its arm. Well, I guess it's pretty clear who the winner is in this situation. Having lost its legs, Siquo's mech is unable to continue the fight! Hm, what? Oh! It seems Siquo's mech was underrepaired! Due to this, the judges will decide the outcome of the battle! They are out on the field... it seems both machines have sustained equal amounts of damage during the fight... Haika rages over the commlink, his anger is understandable. The judges return, and announce their decision! The winner of the First RPS Tournament, and the First All-Time Champion of the RPS Mecha Battle League, iiiiiis.... HAIKA!!! We'll likely have to deduce the arena repair costs from the prizes of all of the winners, but it'll still leave them plenty of money to burn. Once again, CONGRATULATIONS!
