Title: Bay12MUD
Post by: Squeegy on February 12, 2010, 01:16:44 am
I was thinking of starting my own MUD. I have the software, I just need somewhere to host it (my router does not allow port forwards).

It wouldn't necessarily be DF-related, but it would be for the B12 community!

WHATEVER THIS IS I AM FULLY FOR IT

EDIT: Okay, I read the post, and it is very awesome! It would be more awesome if it was DF-related, of course... but still!

EDIT2: How about making a DF-themed MUD where teams have to cooperate, as in Dwarf Fortress, to run a fortress? You could have a few boring roles, like miners or farmers, but supplement them with incredible skill gain or something (thus mining/farming/cooking would be the grinding part of the game). Then you'd have the exciting battle roles, and glorious kinds of things - maybe have quests where you get a mood and have to obtain certain crafts to make an artifact, send out traders defended by heavily armed mercs to trade with the Mountainhomes, defend against sieges, etc.

EDIT3: This is a great place to use your Foot Soldiers system... well, not that much. But sort of.

my router is tricky on port forwards but if it's not too intensive I might be able to do it, as I have about 8 computers lying around my place.

There was formerly a project of the sorts in the works, which has since been replaced by WikiFirmament IIRC

Well, anyone interested in hosting PM me.

Unfortunately, the system I'm using doesn't work like that and I don't have the know-how to make my own.

Like I said in pm, I can host for 5 hours a day or more on weekends...
What kind of MUD will this be?
