Sometimes when I play, someone in the upper echelon of LCS will die/be jailed. This starts a chain reaction that knocks off a LOT of members who were recruited under him, who were recruited under them, who were recruited under them... or just as bad, seduced.
Anyhow, isn't there some way to avoid this occuring? Does juice or heart protect them from this? Is it a 100 juice minimum like how someone can take over a founder?
-
Lost contact with the LCS is unavoidable on an individual level if the upper levels are wiped out in one swoop. Instead, what you can do is to promote recruiters from the R -> U screen, making sure that your hierarchy isn't too deep, and therefore vulnerable to cascading loss of contact.
-
Ah. Oh dear. This means that the founder and 2nd tier of command are VERY important and should probably not do anything which will land them with criminal records? Sigh. Ok...
-
Just don't get them all wiped out at the same time and it's not too bad. Your hierarchy should be able to sustain losing one tier in the chain of command, but it cannot survive losing two adjacent tiers simultaneously.

What is the downside to promoting too many people?
-
How does promotion work, anyway?

What is the downside to promoting too many people?
1) More racketering charges (low heart captured liberals snitch to the cops, criminal charge for next in command)
2) More recruits on higher-level units, thus less opportunity for your leaders to recruit others
3) More people that can die and cause your leaders to lose juice.
Example of how 3 can really, really hurt:
Send out two squads, one with founder, and one with 6 flunkies that are under your backup leader. Backup leader has 105 juice, enough to take over should your founder die.
Both squad die. Backup leader at 99 juice. Nobody has the courage and conviction to continue. GAME OVER!
(I do not know if it really works that way, as the hit to juice may occur after the backup leader takes over. It really depends on what order th deaths are processed, which always seems random to me anyways. Or maybe the mechanic is totally different. I know strategy, not code.)

do kidnap people still stay with the lcs no matter what happens?
-
No, I think they still leave if they or anyone else doesn't have enough conviction to lead.
-
Kidnap people can lose contact the same as anyone if their boss vanishes or loses contact, but you can also promote them as high as you like, without worrying about recruit slots. Of course, if arrested, they're rehabilitated 100% of the time, so having all your kidnapped Liberals under your founder could end up being destructive to the organization if they start getting arrested and your founder racks up racketeering charges.

There is also still the risk of the founder dying with all those wonderful sleepers. I found that out the hard way more than one. Now, I spread out the sleepers instead of promoting all brainwashed sleepers to be under the founder.
I find high-level members with long prison sentences are the most useful.
