Basically trying to get a program called Asciidraw8 to work on my computer. However everytime I have run it, it says i'm missing file: MSVCP71.dll and shuts down shortly after. Anyone got a clue as to how I can fix this problem since finding the file on the net and putting it into my system32 file doesn't seem to work.
The program can be found here: http://www.tailpig.com/AsciiDraw/
Running Windows Vista SP 2 all updates I could get.

Try putting the .dll in the folder with asciidraw.

I have tried that as well with the same problem occurring.

Try putting the file absolutely everywhere.

tempting, would be annoying to go through and delete later on.

I think booting a linux livecd and some ingenious use of the terminal would solve that for you.

Heheh, ah the whole tear it all down and bring it back up routine. While I do like Linux a bit I'm not willing to delete all that I have at the moment to try that. Nice idea though.

Wouldn't it be possible to just delete all files with the same filename from a folder and recursively all its subfolders? I think it would... but that's beside the point. If the program tells you it's missing a DLL file, your best bet is really, in all seriousness, to try putting it in a bunch of different places. I'd suggest the root windows folder instead of system32. I think that worked for me several times when I got a missing DLL error.
