Title: Things that burned your soul today
Post by: ein on May 08, 2010, 11:54:02 pm
Installing windows 7 upgrade. We need a "Things that burn your soul thread".

At semi-request, I present to you:
The Things That Burned Your SOUL Today thread.
Yeah, this'll probably fail horribly, but whatever.

Things that burned my soul?

Customers who complain about something that isn't really a problem.

What do you mean that this is the price of this?!

I'm sorry sir but I don't control the prices.

Well that is to DAMN expensive!

Sorry sir but I can't do anything, if you want your food that is what you have to pay.

I'm not paying that!

*Goes to put food away*

What are you doing!

You said you didn't want to pay

I still want the food, I'm unsatisfied with my service and you guys owe me

*blinks in disbelief before continuing what I was doing because a manager has finally appeared to shut the guy up*

Oh man, if he were a regular, I'd consider going to your restaurant and paying the crazy outrageous prices just so I could watch.

Customers say the craziest things.

Like 'I'm never going to shop here again!', and there they are the next day shopping.

About that, I was in a BestBuy once and this guy was complaining about how Sony makes the worst televisions.
You know what he buys?
A giant Sony plasma screen.

What, you mean you guys have never heard people who complain about Windows being bad then rush to buy the latest version? Then they go all "Linux is wonderful, it can do everything in the world, but be careful when you do ____ in it, because it can damage your hard drive."

Gotta love customers. They're not the brightest of species. In the store I work at, we have almost everything in blatantly large font size and in relatively open spots. Only one catch, you have to actually read them. ..Yeah.

I mean, I get asked "What's on sale?" and I just can't help but to respond with, "Whatever's on display." They ask again, and I repeat until they get what I mean. I may be insulting my customers, but like above stated, they'll be insulted and claim to not shop again, but they'll be back.

Another problem with my customers is also the fact that they don't look up. The aisle markers and everything are clear as day, even I can read them from across the store with my crappy vision (I'm asked about where bread is, and the sign is right in my field of vision, and the most obvious thing to spot). It makes me wonder if these people were ever in a horror movie, would they ever survive? My concern has actually made me spend a few hours seeing if it would be possible to make a rigged (sur)reality TV show that works like a horror movie or something. You know, see if anyone is actually genre savvy movie watchers, or they're into horror flicks for the gorn.

BTW, I give this thread a week before it collapses unto itself like all it's synonymous others.

I actually made another reply to This  (http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=12690)thread when a bullshit graph came up around page six or so. I was about to pot another one when I realized just what thread this was.

And then a few posts later they brought up furries.

God, this could be the thread that makes me lose hope in humanity. Or at least not have any qualms over the pain of specific people.

While we're talking about customers, in my store they have the tendency to open the boxes for lamps to take a look at them and then put them back in the box... In the most illogical and awkward position possible, making the boxes bulge in all directions and impossible to close. If you're lucky that is. I can't count the times I've found a completely gutted and disemboweld box lying somewhere with parts of the lamp spread accross the nearby shelfs. It's like they're trying to make it look as gruesome (to a lamp manufacteror) as possible... And then there are the cases when you find the box, but not it's contents...

Is this trolling or...? This is one of the few times I've looked at a thread and not known within the first page whether they're taking the piss or not.

Are there people this stupid who think they're clever? I mean, I've met stupid people who've thought they're clever, and I've met stupid people who've bragged about being / pretend to be clever, but I've never seen it to an extent as demonstrated by THAT thread. Especially since they're insulting people for not being smart.

I've noticed a trend while in stores. Each person is smart on their own. People in groups are pants-on-head retarded.

This is a fundamental law of society. A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky, dangerous animals and you know it.

I know what you mean. I knew this guy who lived in Texas until he was five. He apparently thought this entitled him to say "Everything's bigger in Texas" with all the obvious connotation.

They seem to want to piss off everyone in the good mining game foums with this thread. The thread itself is quite horrible, but still fun to read.

At work, I had to show a particularly dumb person how to clock out. It goes as follows:
There's a big, green, accept/sign in/ok button, and a big, red, cancel/sign out/no button, and a keypad

Step one: Red button
Two: last four numbers of your code
Three: When it confirms Your Name, Green Button

It's not rocket surgery, I'm sure a 40 year old man had to clock out at another workplace before

Oh, man. Minecraft's "philosophy" thread (http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=5446&start=0) has to be the almost worst. I don't know what's worse their opinions or they think this shit is philosophy.

Quote from: A.I.
3) I believe mankind has lead itself down the entire wrong path with our completely man-made concepts, like the idea that land can belong to a particular man or that different groups of people should feel pitted against each other simply because they were born to different standards. There are endless numbers of ideas that I simply find wrong (pointing out that I find the next few quotes wrong. At least, I disagree with them). "Animals are people, too, and should thusly be treated like people." "Gay = okay" (I'm actually kind of sorry for this next one.) "Retards should be treated normally because they are just normal people." I suppose those statements are just me ranting about people I feel are inferior to normal people. Many people would argue that I am a bad person for thinking this, which brings me to my next point; (Bad things follow.)

4) Ideally, I would support the idea that everyone's thoughts can and should be considered equal. Unfortunately, the state of human society leaves me hesitant to do so. I have lost a lot of faith in others, though I know not everyone is a bad or unintelligent person. I see far too many bad an unintelligent people to feel safe about it, though. Bad things follow. I need an optimistic person in here.

I think most people would consider this guy both bad and "unintelligent" (why not just use stupid?), so the irony of his post is delicious. I also have a sneaking suspicion that the people he considers bad and stupid are people that disagree with his point of view, so yeah.

(Emphasis mine)

Yes, you got the right person. The deli is part of a large store. Your standard market. I'm not placing names for the sake of the company.

My customers get pretty dumb; in other cases some guys that order with their girlfriend/wife in tow either lack their balls or their smarts, making the wait for them to make up their minds for an order rather jarring (especially during the closing hour, working solo.). I pity them. Welcome to working where tourism occurs, where people let go of their intelligence, manners, and castrate their mates (at least, the case usually involve men no longer being men); but expect all providers to be geniuses. Sucks that how easily I can tell the next order, and my instinctively precise measurements along with memorizing the entire store layout thanks to another job I had there (stock pricing (updating prices and sales info)), all of a sudden I'm a human help-desk.

Sometimes things get so ridiculous, I swear I'm in a TV show. You call the genre, it tends to happen. I generally go for the sitcom level; usually around Seinfeld-grade annoyance and over-the-top reaction. I tend to get some seriously screwball people. I'll admit, I'm a bit screwball myself, but these people make me look sane by comparison. I've had complaints given about me due to their poor judgment several times. Fortunately I don't have sitcom-level employers that are gullible to "the customer is always right" to the point of the most frivilous complaint being treated like a bomb-threat. Fortunately my employers understand me well enough that given certain situations, they know the customers are trying to screw over the store. I've busted quite a few customers reheating some cold fried or rotisserie chicken on the hot-display so they have it served hot for the cold price (about a dollar cheaper at least). Provided they're called on it, I can easily snap back the "Heating the cold ones will only increase the price back to hot price. They're priced as cold for a reason.". It sometimes frightens customers when the provider isn't actually an asshat.

That's quite silly. Wendys had it's fair share. My favorite was the 75 year old women who pulled up to the change window, in front of everyone else, tried to place an order, and when she was told to get in line, she told me to go fuck myself. That turned a bad day into a great one. "Have a nice day" XD

Someone on Omegle sent me noodz today.  She was obese, and had dirty fingernails.

Next time someone offers noodz, I'm refusing outright.  I don't know why I consented to letting her send them anyway.  Burned my soul, man.  Stupid Omegle.

I did meet some cool people though, and that's cool.

Yes, you got the right person. The deli is part of a large store. Your standard market. I'm not placing names for the sake of the company.

I worked in a Deli from June 08 to August 09. It was an Atlantic Superstore Deli. I used to run out of meat/not have a particular meat in general, and people would scream at me to go look in the back for them. I would walk into the back shop door on one side, make my way around, and come out the other side (without stopping at the cooler, because I know I've got nothing) to tell them "sorry, mate, I looked, but there's nothing there, try again on Sunday when we replenish the stocks".

Also, our cart cowboys were useless (except for one, who, ironically, got fired). The carts were always scattered across the parking lot. One day, the dude didn't show up, so the manager on duty (who was relatively inexperienced and didn't realize that the deli clerk actually has a busy schedule) ordered me to go out in the rain and do his job as well as mine. It took me 5 minutes to collect all of them. The next day, the cart cowboy complained about how hard his job was, and I lolled.

Cart duty isn't hard per se, no. Its just tedious, tiring and sorta dangerous to themselves and customer property. I've gotten close to being hit a few times from cars backing out, and chasing after run away carts before they hit a customer car.

I was happy that I was sales bitch even though I classified my work as harder.

It was also fun to get called to do the front, as employee would meet up with their friends and we would collect carts together, treat it as a semi social break.

The worse experience I ever had collecting carts was during a sleet storm around midnight. Cold windy, slick and wet, in all the unfun ways. I slipped on a piece of ice, and had a cart almost land on top of me.
