Title: Battle thing.
Post by: Ninteen45 on July 26, 2010, 04:42:27 pm
Basically, an RPG where I'll make the rules as I go along, loosely based off of GURPS, but it will be waaaaaay different.

To make a character:

Put your points into Speed(SP), Agility(AG), Strength(ST), Intelligence(IN) and Willpower(WP)

Everyone has 20 points to spend.

The points placed are at a maximum of 6 and a minimum of 1

Choose 3 background events.

Spoiler: Background Events (click to show/hide)

Choose an occupation.

Spoiler: Occupations (click to show/hide)

Add a name and gender.

Name:
SP:
AG:
ST:
IN:
WP:
Gender:
Age: (20 - 40)
Background Events:
Occupation:

Example:

Name: Urist Skulleaters
SP: 3
AG: 5
ST: 6
IN: 4
WP: 2
Gender: M
Age: 27
Background Events:

Survivor
Abusive Parents

You will be given special skills with whatever you choose.

On the waiting list, for now.

"Humans, spead across the universe like butter on bread. Numerous, vast... Violent, Destructive... In peril." The human race has expanded universally. the 12,855th most cmmon species in the universe, and the 234th most common. You are in the galaxy called Whiplash. Whiplash is a galaxy currently colliding with another, and fast. Meanwhile, Humans are just getting to grips with this galaxy. It's one of the more hostile, but it could be worse.

The humans of Planet Storm are at war, and this war is big. but that's just the bigger picture. you, dear adventurers, are on a quest to restore power to a heavily bombed floating city on the Gas giant Storm. But it won't be easy...

You are all standing in a bar. there are 6 NPC's. 2 Forgepeople, 3 Marketspeople, 1 Scout, 1 enforcer and a Constructorsperson.

You all have 50X, the national currency.

Menu:

Stormfront Beer: 2X (+1 to Charisma based actions.)
BlackHawk Beer: 2.5X (+1 to Charisma based actions, -1 to Agility.)
Soft drink: 3X (+1 to SP.)
Burger: 5X (Yum! Won't go hungry for 7 hours.)

There is a poster on the wall:

WANTED: PEOPLE WHO CAN CROSS THE CITY AND RESTORE POWER, REWARD: 5,000X

You have a few posts to interact with each other(Talk) before the main storyline begins.
Title: Re: Battle thing.

Go talk to the enforcer, and go "enforce" people into giving us moneys.
Title: Re: Battle thing.
Post by: Samthere on July 27, 2010, 12:42:23 pm
Strike up a conversation with the forgepeople and the constructorperson about how awesome it is to create awesome things, and tell of some of the awesome things we've created.

What, no burger and beer deal? ((How good are we for equipment, and is this all the money we have in the world or just what we've got on hand?))

I'll go stand by the poster and strike a cool pose, waiting for other people who look interested in the reward.
Title: Re: Battle thing.
Post by: Hugehead on July 27, 2010, 02:06:05 pm
Gonna buy a soft drink, someone else will be doing the talking anyways.
Title: Re: Battle thing.
Post by: Samthere on July 27, 2010, 02:11:39 pm
Seeing someone getting a drink, I decide to get a burger and beer (Stormfront) after all. I will stand by the poster until it is ready.

Everyone is wearing standard clothes, The Enforcers have "Enforcer" Guns and Portable Electro-cages, the medics have a first aid kit (3 uses) and the Marketspeople have a 5X discount on weapons coupon.
Title: Re: Battle thing.

I'll get a burger, and go over to read the poster that Samthere is standing by.
Title: Re: Battle thing.

"Hey, guy. I noticed you're reading the poster. I, too, have read the poster."
Title: Re: Battle thing.

"I suppose we both know what it says, then. I'm Walter. Walter Rasmussen. Would you like to take up the offer on that poster? I know I could use the money."
Title: Re: Battle thing.
Post by: Samthere on July 27, 2010, 04:23:02 pm
"I'm Willigan Fritzel. The offer on the poster certainly is a tempting offer on a poster, though I wonder if it's worth it. I figure it's at least a five man job, and each of those men will have to risk their mans to do it. Not bad for a few days' work if we make it...

"Aww, heck, I got nothin' better to do! I think I would like to take up the offer on the poster! Would you like to take up the offer on the poster?"
Title: Re: Battle thing.
Post by: Hugehead on July 27, 2010, 05:43:55 pm
Having seen the poster, and overhearing the two people talking about it, I yell over and say "Hey if ya gonna be doing a odd job you might need protection, I will protect you for 1/5 of the reward how bouts it?"
Title: Re: Battle thing.
Post by: Samthere on July 27, 2010, 05:52:46 pm
"That certainly seems fair for a five-man job, and you seem to have a large enough head, physically, to do the job. What's your name?"

((GM, do we know what our roles do in particular?))
Title: Re: Battle thing.
Post by: Frelock on July 27, 2010, 05:57:33 pm
Noticing the people near the poster, he walks over and joins in on the conversation, speaking very rapidly, "If you want to access the power systems, you're going to need to get into the computer *twitch* systems.  I can do that for you.  I'm could *twitch* use the 1k."
Title: Re: Battle thing.
Post by: Ninteen45 on July 27, 2010, 08:15:26 pm
((GM, do we know what our roles do in particular?))

List of occupations and what the do (Briefly.)

Soldier: Shooting aliens, robots and other (enemy) humans on the battlefield.
Pilot: Piloting anything, from boats to space ships.
Enforcer: AKA the police and swat.
Marketsperson: Selling stuff and making media.
Forgesperson: Making stuff like robots, Guns, and anything that involves converting raw materials to produce.
Scout: Explorers, adventurers and mercs, all in one.
Constructorsperson: Building buildings and large transport machines.
Computerist: Programming, working with machines and robots.
Medicsperson: Anything involving biology, from Biotech Weapons, Xenobiology and even working as a chemist.

All the jobs are scrunched together because of artificially enhanced memory. 20 times that of anyone living today (IQ is unaltered, apparently.). (The people here are like that because, well... they are decendants from 5,000 autistic colonists with some advanced Biotech.)

Interject into the conversation, ?Ya'll might need someun tuh patch yuh up.?

Lean in and whisper, ?The accent's a cover. I don't trust people in bars, and you guys probably shouldn't either.?

Just as a note, I'll post the party's total stats for future plans.

SP:21
AG:19
ST:16
IN:19
WP:25

If we simplify these, this is what we would have if we were all averaged out.
SP:4.2
AG:3.8
ST:3.2
IN:3.8
WP:5

Considering that the average is 4 per stat, we're fairly balanced, with our main strength as willpower, and our main weakness (ironically) as strength. However, this is offset by having several individuals with good strength scores.

An enforcer barges through the door, And walks right up to the poster. He rips it off the wall and stands n the middle of the room, his scarred face looking angry, yet suddenly calm.

"I'll get this reward, and any others that come!" He bellows.

You all notice 2 Constructorspeople behins him, one female, one male.

They all walk out.

One of the people at the bar mutter "Jerkass" but you don't know who.

Will you head out?

I understand equations, both the simple and quadratical
About binomial theorem I'm teeming with a lot o' news
With many cheerful facts about the square of the hypotenuse

I'm very good at integral and differential calculus
I know the scientific names of beings animalculous
In short, in matters vegetable, animal, and mineral
I am the very model of a modern Major-General

How can I help you?

A pistol that makes the bullets hyper-activate the pain responeses in nerves.

you have to wear gloves when touching the fired bullets, and spilling the coating over a person by accident is torture.

Anyway, Down the road there is a fork in it. One of the routes is pretty close to the battlefield, and you'll see plenty of foes there. The other route is Damaged, and goes into the damaged subway which was abandoned when shelling made it an obsacle course and damaged the AI enough to make it violently insane. Shutting off the AI and power to the Subway will buy the city extra time, before it loses all poer and falls.

Needless to say, Both routes will be fun of the dwarfy persuasion.
