Title: S.T.A.L.K.E.R. The Zone
Post by: Phantom on August 01, 2010, 12:19:39 am
Reason For Starting: Being basically a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. fanatic and being board, plus being slightly inspired by the Half Life themed game, I'm starting a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. themed one.

It is a Multiplayer based game, where everyone controls a squad from any faction, including the Military and Monolith.
Here's a list of 'em.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

If someone actually plays this, you'll start with 1 Experienced STALKER and 5 Rookies. Starting Equipment varies. Squads may take missions from their own faction, another non-hostile faction or any of the unaffiliated Traders.
The Rules? Rule 0, What I Say, Goes. No real mechanics besides basically Text Adventure mechanics and logic. (AKA: A Stalker gets shot in the head? Too bad now, he's dead.)
So...
Anybody Interested?

Any other takers?

Oh fuck I forgot to say you could play as the Zombified Stalkers and the Mutants.

Any objections with me controlling a Mercenary squad? They're the ones with the cheap ass merc suits.

Kay, so the player characters will start out as experienced members, and your grunts start out as rookies.

Loners
-Squad Leader Jopax
-Partners in Crime, Tokarev and Fallen

Duty
-Org and (Possibly) Eagle.

Ecologists
-Possibly RAM.

FREEDOM
-Omegstick

Mercenaries
-Myself

And now a word from our Sidorovich.

What equipment do we have?

So you never played STALKER huh?

Fuck, now I have to post a wall of text or something.

Loners
-Experienced (AKA Player characters.) Start out with 1 AK74U and a Sunrise Suit.
-Rookies start with a Leather Jacket and a sawn-off double barrel.

Freedom:
-Experienced members start with a TRs-301 (That M16 look a like.) and a Guardian of Freedom suit.
-Rookies start with AK74u's and a Wind of Freedom suit.

Duty:
-An experienced Dutyer starts with a PSZ-9d Duty Armor or a PSZ-9Md, Player's choice, Bullet absorbing or Anomaly Diving. And they also start with a AK-74 with Scope and Grenade Launcher mount. However you don't have any grenades.
-A Rookie Dutyer starts with a PS5m Universal Protection and a AK74u.

Ecologists:
-All ecologists with a SSP-99 suit, and a Walther P99.

To buy equipment, go to your factions trader, as you start out in their base. They may also give out missions, like Sidorovich.

Loners start out at the Rookie Village, Dutyers start out in Rostok, Freedomers at the warehouses, and finally Ecologists at Sahkarovs bunker.

Post by: Jopax on August 01, 2010, 02:11:52 pm
So it's the original game location?
Do we start with anything else like food, meds or something like that, or is that nonimportant and is considered automated.
Title: Re: S.T.A.L.K.E.R. The Zone
Post by: Phantom on August 01, 2010, 02:14:47 pm
Well, the first turn is about equipping and getting a job from the trader, barman or leader. Characters such as Ashot, Ganja, and Major Zvyaginstev. Hell even Tooth might return as a Loner, they'll be their original roles and they can give you things to do or are just there for flavor. When you're in a friendly base, no food is needed, when you're out in the zone, make sure to bring some stuff. And yes this is the original zone.

Well, Duty has way too many veterans murdering the Freedomers, remember that ambush when a motherfucking exoskeleton squad killed all those Rookie Freedomers?
And food and drink is unimportant now.
Hold on, I'll start the game...

Freedom:
Spoiler: Omegastick (click to show/hide)
Omega's squad heads to Skinflint, who currently wishes for Omega to retrieve a stash of MP5s hidden in the Bloodsucker village, in return for 3750 Rubles.

Duty:
Spoiler: Org and Eagle (click to show/hide)
Well this is troublesome, General Voronin wants you to exterminate a Controller in the Agropom Underground in exchange for a promotion and an upgrade to AN-94s.

Loners:
Spoiler: Tokarev and Fallen (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: Jopax (click to show/hide)
Well, this is also troublesome. A squad of Mercenaries that recently entered the zone reports that 2 squads of Military grunts are going to raid the rookie village, attacking from the road and the southern side of the village. They agree to defend, and Wolf and Sidorovich will award all the STALKERs who participate in the defense.

Ecologists
Sahkarov wants you to investigate the miniature Symbiont anomaly that appeared near the entrance to the Yantar factory.

Mercenaries:
Spoiler: Phantom (click to show/hide)
Same as Loners.

The mission is to defend your immediate location from the military. Reward shall be determined on how many STALKERs survived, how much ammunition was wasted, and how many shooters you were able to recover.

Shouldn't we have PSZ-9d Doodie Duty Suits, not SKAT-9ms?
Also, if not having played STALKER screws you over, I think that's a bit unfair.
I didn't even say SKAT-9ms!

Duty:
After quite a bit of wandering out of Rostok, through the Garbage, and into Agropom, you finally found an entrance to The Agropom Underground. After a bit of trekking, you finally come to what seems to be the generator complex, and your heads seems to be hurting a lot.

Loners:

Spoiler: Jopax (click to show/hide)
The mercenaries and STALKERs not in your squads begin to take defensive positions in the abandoned houses. You must prepare for the firefight. Quickly choose where to fortify your groups, either on the roofs, in the buildings, or behind the various walls.

Org dives back, and the those pair of white eyes seem to be approaching more rapidly. Org unloads about 17 rounds into the things body, with a few striking the head. Eagle helps to a degree by firing about 3 rounds before it dies. The momentum it made from running causes the corpse to still hit Org. It seems to have been a bloodsucker, and it's strange to see 1 alone. You should find the controller quick, and get out of the Underground soon, unless you want to be devoured by hordes of mutants which inhabit the underground.

After picking up about 20 empty bullet shells, you and the group proceed forward, avoiding a few anomalies finding one nice Sparklr Artifact. Your heads begin to hurt even more, and you gain sight of the Controller who begins attacking you.
Controller attacks include this and clawing. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-PWNlDoqHrc&feature=related)

Sorry, slept in late, ill be one of those xombi ones...
Right, let me start you out...
Because your a zombie, you can with stand quite a lot of bullets due to your lack of pain, but you lack higher functions such as taking cover or speaking.

Charge up to the Controller and get really close, thus causing it to (as the wiki says) "uselessly try to walk away" and thus easily be killed.
This isn't completely based on the game rules, no loopholes.

Duty:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
As Cheddarius insanely charges towards it, the Controller simply projects it's will onto him through a Psi bolt. He is controlled, after much pain in his skull. Ready up for a fight, Dutyers.

Mercenaries, Loners:
Spoiler: Phantom (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: Tokarev and Fallen (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: Jopax (click to show/hide)
The Mercenary Squad leader unloads 2 bullets into the chest of a military grunt, who falls over, dead by shot to the heart. The other grunts respond by firing towards the STALKERs inaccurately, but some get lucky and hit a few unaffiliated Rookies, who are either heavily or moderately wounded.

Ecologists:
The trip goes fine, just with travel through the moderately irradiated swamps going a little bumpy, due to Scriver tripping over  a log, which he thought was a snork. The team arrives at the small Anomaly Field.

Freedom:
Spoiler: Omegastick (click to show/hide)
As you arrive at the village, you get into formation, preparing for an attack. One of your men thinks they see Bloodsuckers in the house holding the stash, along with a few other bloodsuckers a few houses down.

Zombified STALKERs:
Spoiler: Evergod41 (click to show/hide)

Would it be possible for the destruction to tear a hole through to the den of some incomprehensible horror that leaks through and simultaneously converts the whole of our former existence into its own preturbant substance over the course of inevitable agonising aeons?

P.S.
Yes, I should definitely stop, but hey, at least this keeps the thread bumped...

Yes Archangel, you may join as a Merc, but you must choose a job to do in the Zone, for example raiding the X-Series labs or finding artifacts.

Oh well, starting turn...

Ecologists:
As 1 Ecologists goes and tries to retrieve a Gravi artifact, he is injured by a Springboard anomaly. The sound of him screaming about his broken arm seems to attract some Zombified Stalkers.
Also, what you gathered about the small Symbiont field is that it is all Gravitational Anomalies, with a minor Psi threat in it.

Zombified STALKER's:
Spoiler: Evergod (click to show/hide)
You and the other zombies shamble towards the Humans investigating the Anomalies.

Freedom:
Spoiler: Freedom Omega (click to show/hide)
The Bloodsuckers actually seems to be watching you while you wait. You can see one sucking the blood of a dead Mercenary, and a Marsh Bloodsucker in the distance.

They're wearing helmets that cover their whole head. And you're not the classic kind of zombie.
You're these kinds. (http://stalker.wikia.com/wiki/Zombified_Stalkers)

Quickly grab the Artefact and try to organise a staggered withdrawal. With someone dedicated to dragging the Casualty out of there.

Follow RAM's example once more. Try to get behind cover, but prioritize getting out of range of the zombiefied stalkers.

Freedom Omega take aim at the bloodsucker watching you, while making sure to stay out of sight of the marsh bloodsucker in the distance, and open fire.

OK. Is bodyguarding tourists suitable?

The Archangel and RAM goofing kind of driven me away, along with Evergod trying to be a stereotypical zombie...

It's your game, kick 'em.
On that note, my team has not had its turn in four days, even though we've all submitted our turns.
