Title: Shell Shock? Squatter?

So I'm wandering around the map in adventure mode, when I happen upon a small town. I think "great, I'll stock up on expendable drunks". When the town loads, there's bodies everywhere. Peasants,Guards,Merchants,the Mayors,Horses,Mules, and the usual drunks.

So I grab all the clothes and weapons around the bodies, and head to a shop. And there's some good luck, it looks like there's still a merchant.

So, two questions :
1)What kills an entire town and leaves charred bodies everywhere?
2) Why won't a merchant, in a shop, that he regularly goes back to every day, not trade?

Did you ever set a fire as an adventurer there?

Nope. New World.

Legends shows up as around 20 people being Burned to death there.

Is there anything modded in?

If so, has anything fire-breathing been modded in?

I've seen some funny stuff happen too. One of the more interesting ones was when the people in an (also freshly generated) human town were apparently fighting some sort of civil war.

Among other things they killed a poor wagon, which interestingly enough got it's own chronicle in the history section. But no name.

Would it be possible that they died of cold or heat? Is the place scorching or freezing?
