first has to do with an unarmed hunter accompanied by 2 war dogs, i had just started the game and the dwarf i had designated as my ambusher/axedwarf immediately ran off to hunt a mountain goat, knowing he was unarmed i sent the 2 war dogs i had to go with him.
the dwarf chased the goat around a bit until the dogs arrived and killed it, but instead of bringing back the corpse (i had set up a refuse pile for him to bring the corpse to) he just stood there with the hunt designation still showing and wouldn't do anything else until i activate him as an axedwarf then released him to normal again.
the second but has to do with custom stockpiles, same fortress, i was setting up a farm area and created a custom stockpile to hold nothing but seeds, everything was forbidden in the custom settings menu except for seed, yet still my dwarves are insisting on stockpiling food and drink there.
In general, what is causing these stockpile issues? Are the food stockpiles choosing barrels that have mismatched items and numbering them?
concerning food stockpiles:
In my experience, food will go the the appropriate places only when each food type is designated to reside _somewhere_.
However if you only have (as example) two stockpiles- one for booze and the other for seeds- booze will go the booze and seeds to seeds... BUT the remaining undesignated food will be taken to either of these two. Not every single food type, as in the case of flour, behaves this way.
I could be wrong.
with the stuck hunter, i'll see if i can recreate the bug and get a save uploaded, the other thing about that bug is that no one would pick up the corpse either, returned kills normally go to the refuse pile but that wasn't happening, i don't think having war dogs kill the animal instead of hunting dogs would make that much of a difference

It should be a barrel that wasn't in a pile whose settings were subsequently changed, but a barrel that was brought to a pile where it just didn't belong. The smaller the fort the better, I guess, so there's not a lot of confusion. I can't seem to get this sort of problem to reproduce.</STRONG>
Happens every time I start a new game. Just designate a single food stockpile and set it to only seeds. Dwarves will happily haul EVERY food item to it.
