My fortresses are built on the slopes of volcanoes (I'm optimistic that there will be a magma flow somewhere down there) so in order to get water I dig a channel from the brook into the side of the hill and eventually under my settlement, and then dig channels down through each layer until it's open space right above the flooded channel. Then I build a well (rock block, rock mechanism, copper chain, wooden bucket.) Construction proceeds normally, and then when it completes, the game crashes.
The mere fact that I have to go through this much trouble to secure a water supply is awesome but I'd sort of like to keep playing after that, too. Thoughts or suggestions?
