Title: Argh, trading...
Post by: MrFoo on October 30, 2007, 11:07:00 am
So the dwarven caravan appeared and went to the trading post, and eventually I managed to beat the dwarves into actually moving stuff there, except the "leader" of this motley crew, who continued to do menial jobs instead of having a meeting with the diplomat, it took so long, and so many times of removing him from the jobs he was trying to do to conduct the meeting that the caravan left before I could trade with them.

Any chance of making "Conduct Metting" more important to a dwarf than "move a piece of worthless stone 60 squares to a stockpile over and over again"?

I made sure my leader didn't have hauling or anything in his labor preferences. It was the only way I could find.

To trade, you need to get one of your dwarves to the depot by going there and hitting 'r' to (r)equest a dwarf trader.  The other option decides whether it has to be your broker, or whether any given dwarf will be fine.  No dwarf, no trade.

Yeah, the prioritizing for meetings and broker jobs are quite annoying right now.  Meeting are especially bad, since they just take jobs when they feel like it.
