Title: Hunter/Ranger bug with crossbows
Post by: damocles on December 10, 2007, 07:56:00 am
I just sat and watched my ranger, who was carrying a quiver and crossbow (and I have hundreds of bolts in storage) chase down a cougar and try and fight it in hand to hand combat.  Naturally my ranger is now a stain on the floor.

I assume this is a bug.  He went to the trouble of picking up a crossbow and quiver, so I assume he wants to use them, so why didn't he?

edit: I should add, latest version (33e is it now?)

Are you sure he didn't fire any bolts?  He might have just had 1 bolt then ran out of ammo.

Your hunter have probably taken the stack of 1 bolt and used it. Then he started using crossbow as a melee weapon. he would not replenish his ammo until his hunting job is over.

I didn't see him fire any bolts.  And I was watching the cougar for a while before the ranger showed up (I was waiting for my soldiers to get there and kill it).  He definitely didn't fire a single bolt, instead choosing to attack it with his hands.

Even if he did have only 1 bolt left and wasted it, I would still consider it a kind of bug that he would then prefer to take on a cougar unarmed instead of returning to base to re-supply.
