Alright. This is another (There actually aren't that many...) science fiction RTD.
However, this isn't the kind with super-special mega alloys that render all but super plasma death rays useless. Even melee weapons, especially mechanically assisted ones (cue the powerfist) can penetrate armor and create much less noise than, say, a magnetic accelerator cannon.
Lasers are a tad more realistic. They don't make sounds and you can't see them too easily, but for balances sake they don't explode on contact. (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/FrickinLaserBeams)
Sooo... Make a character and we'll get started. We'll start off on a Heavily Forested planet much like Pandora (http://www.pe.com/imagesdaily/2009/12-18/pandora18_handout_400.jpg), only that you can still breathe.
And you don't have to be human. Preferably humanoid though.

Crawler: Small, weak, really stupid. They are black with four legs each ending in a green spike. They have large mandibles made from red-tipped crystal as well as two red eyes and two large claws extending from above their body, each having the equivalent of a biological meat cleaver on the end.
They also have two short sets of wings that can be used for gliding. Since they are the only type of alien that can climb trees, they have a habit of ambushing unsuspecting players from above.
Biped: Two legged aliens with basic arms and clawed legs. These are the smartest ones and have sharp crystals running down their arms. These can be dislodged easily and used as projectiles.
Behemoth: Giant, as well as being even stupider than the crawlers. They have four legs each reinforced with ribs of green crystal and are tipped with red crystal claws. The head has massive green crystal plates as armor that conceals its huge maw. Its back is riddled with jagged spikes and thick green armor plates.
Do keep in mind that not all of them are the same.
Spoiler: Behemoths have the unique ability to adapt. If one survives an explosion, it will almost certainly have thicker armor plates next time it fights.

-------------------------------------------------------------
Zrk-3-Seeing the alien commanding the beast, Zrk shoots it. The hail [6] of molten iron strikes the alien in the foot [2] but vaporizes the dirt on the ground [3] causing a massive transfer of heat into the alien [5]. It doesn't flinch. [6]
Gordon-1-Gordon, a bit dehydrated, fires off a few rounds [3] at the alien before heading down to the rocky shore to get a drink. He is unaware of the river's high acidity.
Kneeling down for a drink, he feels a sharp pain in his knee where his uniform was slightly torn.
"Ack, must be some kind of fish!"
Jumping out of the water, Gordon examines the wound and notices his skin beginning to turn red. However, with no bite marks, Gordon realizes there is something in the water.
"Well I'll be. This water's not safe."
He stands up, only to collapse on the ground in front of him. Thea rushes to the rescue.
Sareesa-6- "This is Sareesa, the river is acid, don't go through the water unless your suit is water-tight, or you want to be a skeleton, over."
Tarran replies,
"Acid rivers, how nice. Not as nice, however, as A FREAKING GIGANTIC ALIEN TRYING TO KILL THE REST OF US! WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU?! Over."
Kir'Zhan also speaks into the radio,
"Acid water, unforchunate as It will mean we require more bottled water. Whoever has equiptment for it should check to see if the animals or plants are poisonous or harmful as well, especially the nice delicious tree bark, after we fight off these creatures of course."
Sareesa continues, "I'm tracking down their settlement and noting the locations of other attack groups so you can either take them out or call down artillery strikes on them as necessary. Also, I operate on a policy of radio silence unless reporting something important, try to do the same yourself, over."
But Tarran objects, saying, "I don't think being silent is of any use to me right now, ma'am, considering that they're throwing every freaking guy in the immediate vicinity at us right now. Over."
Sareesa finishes the argument, "If you think my knife would be of more use over there in a fire fight, you are desperately mistaken, over." before shutting off her radio and waiting for the aliens to pass.
Thank goodness nobody ever looks up...
The aliens are heading along a road, leading to the log. Sareesa can see numerous crawlers hiding in trees, ready to strike. The whole attack was prepared-for.
Turning her radio back on, she hears Thea yell through the speaker.
"Gordon got himself into some trouble! We might not move ahead for a while!"
"Roger that. Be careful, there are crawlers in the trees up ahead. The whole attack was set up. There is also another behemoth and some bipeds on their way along the trail. Get ready."
"Roger that. Good luck finding them."
Taric-5-"Finally, some real action!"
Brandishing his grenade launcher, Taric aims at the behemoth [5] and pulls the trigger. The round hits it square in the face [5] severing its lower left back tooth [2].
Taric fires again. And three more times, before reloading his launcher with his near-endless supply of ordnance.
The 2nd grenade hits the behemoth in the front right leg [3] shattering it [3].
The 3rd grenade lands in the same spot as the first [5] but doing nothing [2].
The 4th grenade severs its injured leg [6].
The 5th grenade lands straight in its mouth [6] and explodes, tearing its head clean open [5] and knocking one of four remaining bipeds down [3].
Tarran-2-Tarran, under a bit of stress from the situation of being stranded on a planet with a race of crystal monsters trying to gut him, can't quite concentrate (-1). Nevertheless, stealing Zrk's target, he takes aim at the creature's torso [4-1], and fires three bursts in quick succession, shattering its chest and knocking it to the ground. [3][5][3]
He then feels a cold wind pass him, and glances behind him to see a massive green spike embedded in a tree.
"Those spikes are from their arms! But how?"
Rayn-Absent-
Kir'Zhan-5-Muzzling the alien's mandibles with a vine seems adequately shut the crawler up. With no grasping limbs it cannot unpin itself.
Kir'Zhan then proceeds to sneak up on a biped, specifically the one that tried to kill Tarran. It's arms are lined with spikes, but the ones closer to the front of the arm are much smaller than the rest. There is also a gap on one arm that is not present on the other.
Do they use their spikes as ammunition?
Grabbing its crossbow-esque weapon, Kir'Zhan wrestles the biped behind some pushes, narrowly avoiding the view of the other two bipeds which are advancing towards the group. Putting a blade at its neck, he pins it to a tree in a similar way to the crawler, but this time crippling its hands. They give with a satisfying sound like the cracking of glass. Holding on to one of the shards for experimentation, he ponders whether to kill this one or interrogate it later.
Thanks, that's a good idea. i'll add it to the next rolls.

Zrk-6-Now that the beast is dead, Zrk proceeds to mop up the two bipeds scrambling behind cover. Unfortunately for them, Zrk fires a volley of shots [6] in their direction, penetrating the trees [5] and turning them into nothing more than shiny sand.
Gordon-2-Since he can no longer get close to the enemy with his injured leg, Gordon slings his shotgun and pulls out his crossbow, and loads a bolt into the weapon. His hand slips however, and the bolt--instead of locking in place--fires off into the distance.
Sareesa-6-"Let's have more fun."
Sareesa sneaks over to the bridge, ready to sever it when the aliens cross. As they cross, she uses her knife's wave attack to slice the log, dropping a biped into the river, with another one grabbing onto the edge. Instead of pondering how the behemoth made it over the bridge, Sareesa watches the alien dissolve into the river, further tinting the water green. How this river dissolves crystal but not bone surprises her.
Meanwhile, the other biped scrambles to its feet and notices her, having blown your cover, and pulls out his launcher.
Taric-4-Seeing the next group coming in, Taric opens fire on the behemoth, expecting it to go down as easily on the last one. The grenade hits squarely, even from this distance [6], and explodes without even causing the behemoth to flinch. Taric notices that this one has much thicker plating than the last.
Tarran-3-Seeing Taric's failure to cause any harm, Tarran opens up the fight with a well placed firecracker grenade [5] which explodes, knocking down a biped [2] and shattering the other [4]. The behemoth is unharmed.
Rayn-5-Returning to the group, Rayn hovers down to the group to see the behemoth on its way towards the group. He comes down to assist and gets ready to attack.
Kir'Zhan-1-Kir'Zhan gets out his radio and reports everything.
"A biped has been disabled for later interrogation incase it or the crawler has more information than the other or one type is more intelligent than the other."
However, he turns around to see the behemoth coming straight at him, unhappy that its friends are dead.

Zrk-2-Zooming in using his suit's AutoZoom,™ Zrk realizes that even with a scope against a huge lumbering monster, an eye is quite a small target. Instead of hitting it squarely, Zrk's shots pepper the general area around the eyes [3] but penetrate the monster's plating [6] causing minor flesh wounds. [1] Their heads are mostly the crystal equivalent of fat anyway.
Sareesa-6-"Sareesa here, I think those crystals the bipeds are using are highly poisonous and/or acidic and dissolve in water, don't let them touch you, over."
Rushing to the largest tree in sight within the blink of a eye, Sareesa slices the tree with her Force Blade, causing it to incline before landing right on top of the biped. (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/OhCrap)
Gordon-1-Pulling out another bolt, Gordon accidentally lets go of the bolt again, shooting Taric straight in the back of the head.
He turns around, the power suit having saved his life.
"What the heck, Gordon?"
"Sorry, my bad..."
Taric-4-After that slight mishap, Taric draws his launcher and fires again. It hits [4] but causes no damage, again deflected by the massive plates.
Tarran-6-"Man, they've got nothing on us!"
Tarran aims at the behemoth's leg and opens fire. Landing square hits [4] he finishes the magazine before assessing the damage. The bullets penetrated the behemoth's plating and severed the muscles inside the leg [3] causing the monster to trip, further damaging it as well as breaking its charge.
Rayn-4-Rayn watches as Tarran disables the monster, then comes in and takes the opportunity. Signaling Saith to open fire (get it?), Saith engulfs the behemoth in a storm of flames [6] completely burning off its outer plating, leaving it open to any sort of attack. In pain, the monster tries to run away, but its injured leg prevents it from doing so.
Kir'Zhan-6-Hooking onto the nearest tree, Kir'Zhan climbs up to avoid the monster, before testing the leaves to see if they are edible.
Yup. They're safe. Only the water seems to be acidic.
(And yes, they can cut crystal. These crystals aren't very strong anyway.)
Ive also included a basic map. See the last spoiler.

The behemoth's crystal tissue cracks before falling apart into a massive pile of pointy transparent rocks.

Gordon-4-Gordon Adams has the aspect of one fey!
Gordon Adams screams "I must have wood logs!"
Taric-4-Taric planned to flank the behemoth, but the others have already finished it off. Instead, he reloads his launcher following a dramatic pause.
Tarran-2-Tarran draws his pistol, thinking the diamond-tipped bullets will easily penetrate the creature's armor, but it is now a pile of smoking crystal.

"How did you...?"
"Lets go."
TH-EA1 draws a shiny black rifle with red highlights that you haven't seen her carrying before before crossing the bridge into the distance.
Tarran-3-"Now, off to find Sareesa."
Demanding to know what she's up to Tarran moves ahead to search for Sareesa. He spots her following the fleeing crawlers.
Rayn-6-Preparing to perform reconnaissance once more, Rayn brings Saith up into the sky and takes off following the makeshift trail that the enemies came from. What he doesn't notice until the least convenient time possible is the large green light speeding towards him from the distance.
Kir'Zhan-3-"Where did you come from?" Kir'Zhan asks the crippled biped.
No response.
Kir'Zhan stabs it and asks again. This time, the biped speaks in a voice still difficult to interpret, but much cleaner than the crawler's growls.
"We landed here to investigate the island. The queen ordered us to set up camp near the river."
*game event*
Sareesa, after following the crawlers along the trail, comes across a clearing int he forest. A large spire marks the center of a settlement in the clearing. Various huts made of wood as well as a few made of a green tinted metal surround it. Four large launchers made of this green metal scan their surroundings for enemies. One of them, however, lacks the glowing crystal inside it like the others. It appears to be in the process of loading another one. Who could've trigg... RAYN...

Zrk-4-Satisfied with just the spork, Zrk heads off to cross the river. Since he is wearing power armor, the inexplicably acidic water has no effect.
Sareesa-5-"...Sh*t, don't know what to do here, no way I can pass as one of those aliens. How can I turn this conventional battlefield into an unconventional one?"
Sareesa scouts the perimeter of the base to find a weak spot that she can exploit. The entire place seems somewhat deserted, but aliens are constantly going in and out of the buildings. The turrets seem to only scan the sky though.
Gordon-1-Gordon tries to build a canoe from a log, but not only is the log too thin to do anything with it, but Gordon also has nothing to carve with.
By the way, Gordon will go insane if he doesn't have 50 wood logs by the end of this mission.
Taric-4-"Nice rifle, I'll follow your lead since you seem to know the terrain better"
Thea simply sighs, and continues on the path again. The group now sees the village, and Zrk has caught up.
Tarran-5-Silently following behind Sareesa, Tarran has now somehow sneaked up behind Sareesa. Many explain this kind of circumstance as "rolling a 5" but those people are widely regarded as insane.
Rayn-6-Doing evasive maneuvers to avoid the missile, Rayn drops down sharply. The missile careens into the forest below, still dangerously close. After a sigh of relief, Rayn realizes that he almost shot right through the tree canopy.
"That was a close call..."
Kir'Zhan-4-"What defenses do you have, if any"
"Anti air turrets... lots of soldiers, the usualll.."
The crawler coughs.

Zrk-3-Scanning the enemy encampment with his built-in scope, Ark sees no aliens of higher status than behemoth masters. He does see a massive pile of green metal far off in the distance, near the river, but there's no activity around or near it.
Sareesa-6-Being careful to avoid any and all aliens she sees, Sareesa ventures into the encampment, hidden by a small pocket of trees not too far from the base. Now in the enemy camp, she hears the alien equivalent of a klaxon. There is activity all around her, but nobody sees her.
Gordon-5-Grabbing a severed arm of an unlucky crawler, Gordon lets out a berserk scream as he madly begins chopping down trees. Suddenly, an alarm goes off, but he is yet to stop choppin'.
43/50 trees left.
Taric-6-Pulling out his grenade launcher along with a few packs of C4 and tosses them into position.
"Fire in the hole!"
A massive explosion ensues, with the aliens stunned by the massive shock-wave combined with a hail of grenade launcher fire from Taric. Of course, this course of action has alerted every single alien on the planet, which are now totally aware of your plans to stop them.
Tarran-6-While following Sareesa successfully, Tarran instinctively reloads his battle rifle, then realizes that the click just alerted Sareesa.
'What are you doing?"
Kir'Zhan-1-Intending to kill both aliens, Kir'Zhan readies a spike for a killing blow. However, the siren goes off first and Kir'Zhan turns around just long enough for the crawler to jump off and attack.
Rayn-1-Turning back towards the others, Rayn sees Taric's massive explosion and flashy intro. Deciding to join in himself, he forgets about the turrets and subsequently another green missile starts to head towards him.

Crawler: Crawlers are the most common Xer'Gi, literally mass produced from the Xer'gi lairs. To speed up their growth, their claws and limbs are grown independently then attached to larvae to complete growth.
They are lightning-fast yet expendable, making them perfect for wasting enemy ammunition or ambushing unsuspecting targets expecting larger foes.
Biped: The bipeds are among the smartest of the generic strains of Xer'gi, with a visible brain that emits light through their translucent head. They have impeccable aim, quickly regenerating arm spikes, as well as blood vessels reinforced with a strange purple material that contrasts their green exterior. They wear armor over their chest and legs, leaving their arms free to operate weaponry and machinery.
Despite having a pair of sharp mandibles for a jaw, they can speak quite articulately but lack strong biting abilities. They are normally herbivores.
BehemotH: Behemoths are massive, lumbering, and extremely stupid beasts capable of leveling buildings in a fit of rage. They have four legs each reinforced with ribs of green crystal and are tipped with red crystal claws. The head has massive green crystal plates as armor concealing a huge maw straight from the mind of Lovecraft. Two massive tentacles breach through the armor at the base of its neck and bear razor-sharp blades as well as menacing tusks on each end to draw in their helpless prey.
Its back is riddled with jagged spikes and thick green armor plates.
Behemoths have the unique ability to adapt following life-threatening circumstances. For example, if one survives an explosion, it will almost certainly have thicker armor plates next time it fights.
BrUte: The brutes are a unique strain of Xer'gi, known not only for their strength and size, but their complete inability to process morality codes.
They have blueish plates over their crystalline skin, as well as large blades on their arms. Other than that and a difference in proportion, they look very much like a large biped with more armor.

Zrk-2-Suddenly, Zrk sees a flash of light erupt from a large tower. A large glowing missile is almost flung out before its tracking system activates and it homes in.
Zrk doesn't know why yet, until he sees a winged shadow pass over him.
"Rayn..." mutters Zrk.
Unfortunately, as a result of uselessly muttering to himself, Zrk forgets which tower fired the missile.
Sareesa-4-"Uhhh... Just following you... Because I can? Anyway, how about we ambush some suckers?"
"I work alone, you probably don't have the stomach for what's coming up, and I don't have time to break in a noob to the business," Sareesa mutters, before grabbing a nearby biped and [6] slicing its head off.
"Who you calling noob, camper?" Tarran replies.
Sareesa [4] kills another one.
"I'm calling you a noob, because I doubt you look into a man's eyes and watch him die. Now, if you insist on staying here, be quiet and don't give away our position."
"No wonder you don't have any friends. Just sayin'."
"I'm still alive, more than can be said of most the people in my field who entered at the same time as I. Must mean I'm doing something right."
"Okay, and I'm probably the only one alive from my ship. I must be doing something right. Right? Honestly, are you trying to alienate yourself from the rest of your teammates? Because that is a bad idea if you're looking for any respect... Whatever, it's not the time for talking right now."
Gordon-5-After chopping more trees, Gordon grabs a log and turns it into a *crossbow bolt*.
39/50 trees left.
Taric-4-"They know we're here now so let's give them hell!"
Despite his words, Taric ducks behind cover and reloads. He then rises up and fires at the aliens, [3-1] but misses horribly because of the distance. He switches to his launcher and opens fire, and [5] takes out a biped, leaving nothing but a smoldering crater behind.
Tarran-2-Tarran readies himself into an ambush position, ready to draw his Reaper if needed.
(+1 to next attack)
Kir'Zhan-4-Responding quickly, Kir'Zhan slices the cralwer in half. With his arm.
Looking and the biped, he simply asks one thing.
"You too?"
Rayn-3-In order to do some extra damage, Rayn simply turns a full 180 degrees, confusing the missile and having in slam into the ground, [4] hitting the launcher, [2] but merely bumping it to the side, ruining its aim. It turns to lock on to Saith once again.
*Game Event*
A large alien walks out of a building. He seems to be holding a large ballistic weapon with a drum-style magazine. Melee spikes riddle the sides of the gun, allowing it to be used as a club.
"We know you are here. The crawlers have seen you coming. You are not welcome here." Bellows the alien.
It fixes its eyes on Taric, now alone, who beings to make a very plaintive expression.
"You're first."
It lifts up its weapon, before the gun is blasted out of the brute's hands by a large bolt of red energy.
Thea stands on the roof of a building, holding her rifle in one hand, getting ready to shoot again.
Actions will use a base d20.
1-2 is Dismal Failure
3-6 is Normal Failure
7-10 is Partial Success
11-14 is Normal Success
15-18 is Perfect Success
19-20 is Overshoot.
20's and 1's will be further exploded into a d6 roll. For high d6 rolls, overshoots will overshoot more and failures will fail less. Low d6 rolls behave vice versa.
Skillpoints are a way of learning from your mistakes (i.e. bad rolls). Whenever a character rolls 10 or less, that character gains (2.2 - value rolled/5) Skillpoints. So in other words, rolling a 1 will give 2 skillpoints. Rolling a 10 will give 0.2.
Skillpoints can be put into any category in the skill table below. You can also consult me for a custom skill if you wish. Skillpoints can only, however, be put into basic skills that grant bonuses, rather than advanced traits such as "you can roll twice for X kind of action, pick the highest die" and so on. Those are acquired through miniquests.
Miniquests are a way of learning from your successes. Whenever a character rolls a 17 (the best possible case before an overshoot), that character gets a short quest such as "Slay 3 bears" or "Save the universe." Completing the miniquest will give a reward that is specified by the miniquest.
Example: (Miniquest) Ambidextrous: Slay a boss-level NPC while dual-wielding weapons (Reward: You can now roll twice for two-handed actions)
Combat involes two rolls. The first is an attack roll (sometimes called an accuracy roll) by the one firing the shot. The second is a defense roll by the defender. A failed attack roll can involve more than just missing, such as a weapon failing or misfiring. Failing the defense roll means you take damage, taking more damage based on the difference between the weapon's power and the defense die rolled.
Combat is more than just slugging it out. Weapons have an Accuracy profile and a Power profile, ordered in increasing order of distance. There are four ranges commonly used in the game: Close, Mid, Long, and Very Long.
An example of an accuracy profile would be: (Accuracy: 18/17/16/15). This means the weapon has 18 Accuracy at close range, 17 at Mid, and so on.
Accuracy is simply the minimum roll required for the weapon to hit. +Received Accuracy Reduction (RAR) stats will decrease the enemy's accuracy, not their attack roll.
Power is the weapon's resistance to defense rolls. Succeeding a defense roll will mitigate an attack to varying degrees, while failing it will take more damage if the defense roll is lower. +Target Defense Reduction (TDR) is the stat which reduces enemy defense, allowing you to score higher differences with your hits.
A successful hit (both Attack and Defense rolls succeed) may spawn additional dice rolls to determine specific aspects of the strike. For example, A starship being hit could be [17] hit in the heavily-armored front section [3] but lose some forward turrets.
These are called criticals, since they disable some sort of functionality.
To switch ranges, a combatant must perform a mobility roll. If this roll succeeds, the combatant suffers no penalties. If it fails, the combatant may suffer penalties to accuracy and the enemy may gain increased accuracy. Additionally, defense bonuses from cover do not apply while moving, unless you are moving through a covered hall or behind an object.
You can perform multiple mobility rolls in a turn, but a mobility roll is always done in lieu of an actual attack. That means enemies will attack you twice if you try to close from Long to Close range, for instance, more if you fail.
Some melee weapons might have an entry for mid range as well as close range, such as polearms. Such mid range accuracies are low, but since it's a melee weapon it will close the gap for free, essentially, if you hit.
Though the names for the ranges are the same, there is a separate class of ranges for Infantry, Ground Vehicle, Aircraft, and Starship combat, in order of increasing magnitude. 'Extreme Range', when mentioned, always refers to ranges greater than Infantry range.
To enter stealth, a player simply needs to pass a stealth roll once per NPC and is then invisible to that NPC as long as the NPC is unalerted.
If the NPC is alerted somehow, then the player must pass a roll each turn. The Observation stat reduces stealth rolls.
Failing or overshooting actions can result in a de-stealth. Players can re-attempt stealth once per turn, but NPC's cannot re-enter stealth against the player unless they leave the player's location.
Close-ranged stealth attacks on unalerted enemies follow the Rule of Best Case for both Attack and Defense rolls. A pair of dice is still rolled (so that you can gain Miniquests and skillpoints) but the die will, no matter what it is, be treated as a Perfect Success for the attacker and an Epic Failure for the defender.
Close-ranged stealth attacks on alerted enemies also follow the Rule of Best Case, but only for the Attack roll. The Defense roll acts as normal.
Turrets on weapons not operated by you don't get a bonus based on your skills usually. However, a Capstone skill will still give you a bonus, and "Turret Attack" gives bonuses to turrets under your control that auto-aim.
Missile launchers count as turrets for the purpose of the above bonus, since they are self-guiding. Dumbfire torpedoes do not unless they are in a rotating launcher.
Wizards are masters of the craft of spellcasting (the term magic is rarely used in academic settings), sometimes known as thoughtcraft. Only the most talented spellcasters can be considered true wizards.
To cast a spell, one must first have an Artifact. These are items typically infused with some sort of intelligence and sapience. They can communicate telepathically with humans one-way, but humans must speak to the artifact in order to identify which move the user wishes to use.
Casting has two components on the player's side. The first is the control roll, determining how well you communicate your intent to the artifact. Failing this roll may cause the artifact to make things worse, start hating you, or otherwise not cast.
The second is the magnitude roll, which determines the power of the spell. A Perfect Success will result in roughly your intended power output, so long as it's within the limits of the move. Failures will usually fizzle.
Artifacts are characters, and they each have an opinion of you. They also have an intent, a keyword grants modifiers to certain types of spells and penalties to others. The number next to the Intent gives the modifiers to actions contradicting or supporting that intent.
For example, a Noble [3/-6] artifact will get a +3 bonus against criminals and villains, but will receive a heavy penalty (-6) when harming innocents.
Artifacts all have a core skill such as "pyrokinesis" or "ghastly manipulation" or whatever, which cannot be levelled and simply determines what the artifact is able to do.
To level up and gain bonuses to spell magnitude, an artifact requires a human to sink Skillpoints into potential actions. While an artifact can technically do anything related to its power, it cannot level every aspect of its power at once.
Instead, certain skill elements must be levelled. For example, an artifact's "Fireball" element level will affect any use of fireballs.
A complex spell, such as one that uses both fireballs and flaming swords requires two magnitude rolls, one for each element of the spell. Each element, such as fireballs or flame swords, has a "skillpoint cost," the number of skillpoints needed to get a +1 magnitude.
Skillpoints can be refunded from custom skills and spells the turn after you spend them always and at any time afterward unless you've used it after the initial turn.
You can propose new moves by telling the artifact beforehand, so you can come up with names like "Squeamish Bloody Rood" or what-have-you for combos. Slight modifications of elements like "ring-shaped fireballs" don't require a new artifact element.
--->You have 20 points total
--->You can put a maximum of 10 points in one of 9 categories
--->Some skills cost more points than others (x2 cost requires 2 skillpoints, for example, for a +1)
--->Consult me if you want a custom skill
--->Capstone skills (the top skill at every group) affect every action remotely related to the capstone skill. For example, Aircraft skill gives a bonus to everything related to aircraft, including repairs and detecting other aircraft, even if those aren't in the same skill group.

Sareesa-1-"And that's why I work alone, most people don't want to be that close to the death."
Handing the biped's severed head to Tarran, Sareesa notices the grenade in her hand, sighs, and facepalms.
This is what he calls stealth...
Gordon-3-Continuing to chop wood, Gordon fails his observation roll as the explosion shakes the entire forest and drops a branch right behind him.
"Choppin' down trees, choppin' down trees..."
25/50 trees left.
Taric-6-Opening fire with the flamethrower, Begins to let out a maniacal laugh before a huge explosion knocks him to the ground.
Tarran-6+1-(Opportunity attack!)
"How's my throwing arm?!" Tarran shouts.
Tarran unhooks a grenade from his belt, steadies his arm, and then throws it. Being a master of throwing objects, Tarran easily lands the grenade precisely next to the pile of missiles. Tarran slowly counts the seconds before the fuse ends.
One...
Two...
Everything goes silent, and the entire place bursts into flame.
When the silence ends, countless aliens are on the ground, burnt, torn apart, or simply vaporized. The biped squad was completely destroyed, being rather close to the explosives in the core of the base. The crawlers are mostly on the front line, but the blast was still powerful enough to tear a few limb-from-limb. The behemoths were too far away and too resilient to take any damage.
The alien leader, though, is on the ground. he struggles to stand up, his own body literally flaking off from the wear. Severely weakened, he dashes behind the building where his gun landed.
Zrk-3-Zrk, pleased with the current state of affairs, pulls the trigger and watches the carnage as his power suit does most of the aiming for him. Stray bullets go everywhere, (2) but the sheer volume of fire forces the aliens to duck behind buildings and cover. However, at precisely the right moment, a small flare flies from behind a building, into a pile of explosives.
The result simply doesn't need describing, and Zrk doesn't bother, either, as he mows down the remaining crawlers. [5]
He then sees the behemoths emerging from the flames, unscathed, and shifts his aim.
"You want some more?!" shouts Zrk.
Kir'Zhan-2-Impaling the biped with his head and severing it, (5+1) Kir'Zhan chuckles to himself.
"There are times I love being a walking talking blender"
While heading further ahead along the road, Kir'Zhan hears a huge explosion. Just in time to watch the show, Kir'Zhan sees the ball of flame engulf one of the SAM towers, with the battered alien squad vainly making a last stand.
"Aww, I was late to the party."
Rayn-3-Using the last of her flame breath, Saith spews a cloud of fire and smoke in one direction, before flying in the other. The missile follows the cloud, goes through, and does a 180 back down towards the tower (5) hitting it and causing it to collapse in on itself. (4)

Sareesa-3-"... You have no idea how much information about these enemies you may have just destroyed. I can't work like this."
Sareesa takes off towards the river, not noticing the green spines hidden in the brush. After she travels a considerable distance from the group, the crawler behind her steps on a twig and realizes its mistake.
Gordon-6-After finishing the last tree, Gordon notices that his foot is completely healed. Now heading back towards the trail, Gordon feels a sharp pain in the back of the head before falling down a steep valley. (1)
Taric-4-"Come out, you coward!"
Taric thoroughly bathes the area with a steady stream of flame. The behemoths continue their charge unaffected, but the brute refuses to show himself.
Tarran-4-Coming up from behind Taric, Tarran draws his rifle and fires a few bursts at the charging behemoths. Most of them miss or bounce off the armor, but one burst strikes one dead in the eye, slowing it down and ruining its depth perception.
Zrk-6-Zrk switches his MAC to slug mode, then holds the trigger to accumulate a mass of superheated iron. As soon as he lines up a good shot, he lets go, but a mere fleck of dust is fired.
"What the...?"
Zrk then notices that the ammo meter on the gun is flashing red.
Kir'Zhan-4-Kir'Zhan rushes from the trees and into the fight. Vaulting straight over a behemoth, he jabs his spike through one and rips its back plate clean off, revealing the soft tissue below, as well as apparently tearing something important as the behemoth struggles to recover. Looks like a tendon's been torn, or better yet, its spine. (Three 6's in a row!, Then a 2 for observation)
Rayn-6-Looking for something to kill, Rayn eyes the brute, now loading his gun from behind a wall, and urges Saith to open fire (get it?). However, Saith doesn't have any flame left to shoot.
----Hostiles----
Nero-91-6-overworked and badly injured, the brute finds his battered weapon and struggles to insert the bent and twisted magazine back in.
Yeah, about that, I forgot to lower the value after all the previous shootzing.
I might just remove the ammo meter altogether and make it roll based.
On second thought, I probably wont. You can decide, if you want.

Sareesa-6-Slicing the crawler in half, Sareesa opens up her radio and reports back to the Eternal Wind, which is currently in orbit and can be seen in the distance.
"Mission Control, this is Sareesa. An alien camp has been found and is currently being neutralized. A leader has been located but the other members of the squad are keen on blasting it apart instead of capturing it for interrogation. The colony ship may have been found but I don't want to infiltrate it with these dimwits ruining every opportunity."
"Alright, what do you propose?"
"That I be transferred back to solo ops. This is ridiculous."
'Roger that. However, we noticed the magnetic field of that floating island you saw is getting stronger. Our previous observations indicated that this is periodic. The exact logic behind a giant floating rock remains unknown, but we'll have to wait before sending down a dropship.
We do have one of our best men available to replace you in case you wish to go solo, however. He's not the most... social type though."
Gordon-6-Gordon works furiously!

Taric-3-"Alright then, we'll play hide and seek."
As soon as he steps behind a corner, a large arm knocks him to the ground. What could knock me down? I weight at least a ton! (5)
Then, it hits you. Literally. The brute's fist slams down straight into your chest, denting your armor. (3)
The automated repair system will repair it eventually, (that's why its automated) but you have bigger things to worry about. Such as the large barrel you are currently staring down.
"What now, human?"
"You'll put that gun down, you're not stupid enough not to." Says Thea, who is standing right behind the brute.
The brute then begins to pull the trigger.
"Never mind then, you are stupid enough."
Tarran-1-"SURRENDER, OR DIE!"
Feeling slightly embarrassed by that overused statement, Tarran looks around for a gun emplacement. He finds an alien crossbow, but he has no experience with them.
Might as well start now!
Zrk-1-Zrk rushes behind a tree to quickly reload. He notices that somehow, his ammo meter has gone below zero. How is this even possible?
Kir'Zhan-5-Rushing over to the wounded behemoth again, Kir'Zhan jumps once more, encountering no protest from the monster, and embeds a spike into its back. This undoubtedly severed its spine. (5)
The behemoth falls limp to the ground, struck down.
Rayn-1-While she is diving down towards the brute, Rayn feeds Saith more firestone.
Suddenly though, Rayn stops Saith, noticing that a rather large barreled weapon is aimed at Taric. Thea is standing behind the brute holding a very large serrated blade.

"Roger that."

Taric-4-"Nice try, but..."
Before finishing his sentence, Taric dives off to the side while slapping the gun out of the brute's hands (5). Then, after a swift mechanized kick to the chest (3), Taric slams his fist into the Brute's head, smashing the skull through the brain and bruising the brain (6)!
Xer'Gi Brute has been struck down.
"That was my kill," says a disappointed looking Thea standing next to the body.
Tarran-6-Looking around for more unexploded ordnance, Tarran sees a figure above a door that somewhat resembles an eight-sided star. immediately recognizing it, Tarran kicks the door open and stabs the one biped taking cover behind the door, then gasps at the entire stockpile of grenades and missiles in front of him.
"Oooooooooh boy..." says Tarran, his face slowly turning into a grin.
Zrk-3-"Eff this!"
Instinctively reaching for his chainsword, Zrk realizes that he had also brought the chainsword along with him, and quickly pulls it out and starting the satisfying buzz of the motor's operation.
He then rushes into battle, chainsword drawn, and slashes the Xer'Gi behemoth in the neck (5) and the severed part flies off in an arc (5)!
The next one has slightly thicker armor.
No problem...
The steel chainsword has lodged firmly in the wound!
Kir'Zhan-1-Attempting to attack another one, Kir'Zhan trips over a stone and lands face-first in front of the monster.
Rayn-6-Not noticing that the brute is dead, Saith dives down, grabs the gun by the barrel, then shatters it on a nearby wall.

Sareesa-2-Hiking towards the island, Sareesa looks for ways to get on top of it but cannot find any.
Gordon-4-Gordon Adams completes his secret project: a pile of pointy sticks that his crossbow can shoot.
Taric-3-"Thank for tryings, I guess."
Taric gets a strange feeling that somewhere, right now, there is a LOT of explosives to be claimed.
He follows his senses to a large warehouse, where Tarran is hurriedly cramming as many grenades as he can into his backpack.
Tarran-4-Tarran proceeds to stuff his grenade belt with grenades.
Zrk-5-Setting the dial on the sword's hilt past the actual limit, Zrk puts all his force into cutting the sword out of the wound, and is delighted to see broken crystal shards fall from the wound as he retains possession of the steel chainsword.
Kir'Zhan-3-Kir'Zhan leaps from the ground and into the creature's face (4) tearing apart the outer armor (3).
The monster then retaliates and slaps Kir'Zhan, launching him a few meters into the distance and stunning him.
Rayn-6-As Saith shoots toward the behemoth Zrk is fighting but misses (1), Rayn jumps off and makes a very rough landing, breaking his ankle in the process (2). He quickly looks for a gun and picks up a crossbow left by one of the fallen bipeds.

Sareesa-6-Finally standing below the island, Sareesa stands at the edge of the island's massive shadow. this reminds her of a certain combat simulation... one about placing blocks while running from skeletons.
Anyway, the only possibly way up appears to be some kind of landing pad on the side of an island. Whatever's up there, it's been discovered and built into before.
Sareesa then hears a very loud *thump* behind her.
Gordon-6-Turning around to joint the fight, Gordon remembers the great cuisine back on planet Entaro. He had always--OW.
Gordon stops spacing out and opens his eyes to see what's in front of him.
"Woah."
Walkign to the other side of it, he repeats,
"Woah!"
Finally, pressing the button on the side, the side doors open up.
"WOAH!"
In front of him is a vintage 21st century combat helicopter, fully equipped with four HE missiles with guidance systems, as well as a large chaingun attatched to the front. There is room for four people in the passenger seats, with Gordon taking up the pilot's seat.
His radio turns on.
"Yeah, Gordon, we thought you would really like this, so we went ahead and sent it down in a drop pod. Call us if you run out of ammo."
It's the beginning of a new relationship.
Taric-2-Grabbing one of the long missiles, Taric exits the building, starts running, and throws the missile at the colony ship. It rebounds off the side.
"That's some thick armor."
"It's reactive too, most projectiles simply bounce off," says Thea.
You notice that her rifle is glowing unusually bright.
Tarran-2-Walking over to a building, Tarran kicks the door down and is subsequently knocked down.
The biped raises his arm to use the shards as a weapon. The razor sharp ones.
Zrk-4-Striking at the last behemoth, Zrk misses (2) while the behemoth also misses with its tentacles. Striking again, he hits it in the face (6) and tears its skull open, killing it (5).
Kir'Zhan-1-1=fail-Trying to get back up, Kir'Zhan dodges the incoming tentacle (4) and slices it off (6). However, the behemoth smacks Kir'Zhan again (4), knocking him down again. Its wounded tentacle then extends back to its original length and grows new tusks. Good job, hero.
Rayn-4-Rayn sighs, aims at the behemoth, and fires. The shot bounces off of its head.

Sareesa-6-"Hey Gordon, mind giving me a ride?"
"Sure thang!"
His enthusiasm already tells her what's going to happen next.
*sigh*
Gordon-3-"Yeehaaw!"
Flying the bird up into the sky and towards the island, Gordon sees two green specks fly off of a landing pad and head for Gordon's chopper.
Opening fire with the chain gun, Gordon yells "Get some!" while doing the obligatory "unload all of your ammo at a single mook" thing, utterly destroying it (6). Luckily for him, his plot protection keeps him from running out of ammo, but that doesn't stop every alien on the island from rushing over to the window to see what's going on.
Sareesa sighs again. (It's her fault for getting a 6 though. :))
Taric-4-Sprinting over to the colony ship, Taric kicks the entrance, but then stops and realizes that he isn't going to kick down two feet of solid A-for-airlock-grade greensteel.
Tarran-6-1=5-"Oh no you don't!"
Tarran returns the favor with both legs, knocking the biped into the wall (4) into another biped (6) which then falls down (4), landing on a table covered in food, shielding its fall.
Zrk-3-Seeing Kir'Zhan in need of assistance, Zrk dashes over and slices the head off of the behemoth (6).
(What the heck, why do you always get kill shots)
Afterwards, he pulls out his MAC and begins to shove dirt into the back end, loading it and directing the subsequent spray of ashes towards the alien.
Kir'Zhan-1-1=fail again-Running away again as Zrk assists him, Kir'Zhan is tripped once more by the behemoth's now limp tentacle on the ground.
Rayn-5-Looking up at the sky, Rayn is greeted by Saith coming down with a biped in her mouth.
"Good job."
Sorry about that. I was a bit overloaded with homework. Now that my poem (called "into the darkness", cookie if you can tell what is about) is mostly done, I can roll.

Sareesa-6-"Stealth some how eludes you all doesn't..."
A sudden dive interrupts Sareesa's comment.
"Screw this, I'm outta here."
Looking for a good location to land, Sareesa spots a steep valley on the top of the island that evens down to level ground.
Asking Gordon to slow down for a moment, she jumps off, rolls down the valley, and lands in a field of grass at the bottom.
Gordon-3-Too completely engrossed in mindlessly slaughtering aliens, Gordon doesn't notice Sareesa leave and instead continues to destry the fighter and come down for a landing. Only then does he realize that the hatch is open and Sareesa is gone.
Taric-6-Taric reloads his rifle and then rushes through the door to help Tarran, not knowing that Tarran was standing in the door's pah.
"Alright, nobody move!"
Tarran-1-"Alri..."
Tarran barely starts speaking before Taric barges in and casually slams Tarran into the wall.
Zrk-4-Revving his chainsaw menacingly, Zrk simply stands there as Taric takes over. He notices that his MAC gun is absorbing significantly more iron than usual.
Kir'Zhan-1-1=another fail!-Ouch, getting three zeros in a row sounds like something I'd do. Anyway...
Getting up, Kir'Zhan takes off to follow after Taric, when he feels a slight pain in his arm. Looking in the distance, he sees a biped notice him and dive behind a wall.
Looking down at his arm, he sees a large shard embedded in his arm. If he pulls it out, it will start bleeding. If it stays in, it will inhibit his abilities.
Rayn-4-Mounting Saith, Rayn sees Kir'Zhan stop in his tracks, notices the crystal as well as the retreating biped.
"You're not getting away that easily," he mutters.

Sareesa-4-"Thanks for the lift. If you want to keep distracting them, it'd be useful."
Sareesa enters the installation, and immediately finds herself in the middle of a long hallway.
Gordon-2-Gordon sighs, and turns the helicopter around. Heading back to the rest of the group, he notices various red dots on his radar. In horror of this feat of technology, Gordon grabs some duct tape and covers the radar.
"They updated it..."
Taric-1-Taric waits for a response while looking menacing. However, his attempt to look menacing inexplicably fails completely, and somehow he doesn't look menacing at all. Zrk is covering for him though.
Tarran-3-Tarran observes the room, and notices various crates in the room. he dim lighting makes it hard to see, but he can see a crossbow in one of them.
Zrk-4-"Alright, start talking. What are you doing here? What are you looking for? What do you want? If you answer you can live, if not, well, I'm very inventive... "
Sheathing his sword, Zrk cracks his knuckles (somehow, even though he's wearing power armor) and looks menacing.
One biped responds,
"Whhhheere here to invstigayte zzzzis crystal. Our massters arr plannnning to uzz it for sooomting. I don now whhat."
Kir'Zhan-3-Kir'Zhan looks at the spike, and decides to pull it out. It hurts excruciatingly, and looking at the edge he notices that there are microscopic spines running along the edge.
"That was inside me?!"
Holding his arm to keep the pain at bay, Kir'Zhan makes his way to the building where the others are.
Rayn-3-Swooping down, Saith cleanly dismembers the biped and moves on. (4)

Hawk: The Hawk is the standard alien air-control fighter. It does not excel at air-superiority, but in large numbers they make good cannon fodder.
Falcon: The Falcon has heavy forward shielding, slowing it down due to the drag but also increasing its maneuverability. They are very difficult to take on alone as they can out-turn most vehicles.

Sareesa-5-Walking to the next turn in the hallway, Sareesa sees shadows on the wall, moving. She slowly peeks around the corner to see what's going on. She sees a bright light before everything becomes blurred. She then jumps backward around the corner and silently rolls to a halt.
Gordon-3-Having failed his observation roll, Gordon keeps going until he sees the missile pass him. He sends out flares before turning around to engage, successfully identifying the enemy ships.
The bullets bounce uselessly off the enemy plating.
Taric-5-"Where is the crystal?" Demands Taric.
"Innn za izland."
Tarran-3-Tarran aims his gun around the corner, and barely jumps out of the way before the bolts come flying by. He sees the pressure plate on the ground, and steps around it to find the traps reloading. Kicking one, he causes the entire row to fall over in a domino effect.
He then sees the door to the side and walks through, and encounters...another locked door.
Zrk-5-"Do you know what this is? It's a spork. One of the most feared weapons in all of human history... Explain what crystal you are talking about, or I will use it to systemically destroy every joint in your body. Slowly, there was a rebel once, I kept him alive for five days. He screamed the whole time. Talk or that will look like a picnic."
The alien shudders, then responds.
"Za creestawl lets it leeve... Wree wur sent to destroy ritt but mosst of uzz got killed... dey rigged za ship to break down when we landesd so zey cut gyeet away..."
"What the heck are you saying?" asks a confused Kir'Zhan from behind, who seems to be ignoring the pain just fine.
"..."
The other biped comes in. "Ve wur sense her to save za master from it. Za master got away but he lefse us here to die to buoy time."
Kir'Zhan-3-Kir'Zhan aids in the interrogation.

Rayn-1-Dismounting Saith, Rayn enters the building, crossbow in hand, and raises it to intimidate the aliens even more.

Sareesa-6-What was that? Sareesa reaches for the control panel on her helmet and activates the darkening field. Being able to react to bright lights in mere nanoseconds, nothing like this should ever happen again.
Peeking out over the edge again, she sees the light again, and subsequently gets blinded. Again. Whatever that is, the darkening field can't resist it. Detaching her reflective visor, she holds it near the edge and sees a white sphere emitting the light, which two bipeds standing guard, albeit looking a bit nervous, as if they saw nothing.
Gordon-5-Gordon grabs the radio and yells into the microphone.
"Umm, guys? A LITTLE HELP PLEASE? I can't hit these guys!"
Gordon reaches for the little green "Lock-On" button and waits for the bleep.
Hearing it, he presses the red one below it, and the missile shoots forward, slamming into a fighter and knocking out out of the sky. The shattered remains of its shield sail away in arcs.
"Checkmate."
Firing again, the next missile fails to shatter the enemy shield, but the fighter is knocked backward, and its structure collapses in on itself.
Suddenly, the first hail of fire comes in. A series of green shards bounce uselessly off of Gutsy's reinforced plating.
Taric-1-"Hold still!"
Taric approaches Kir'Zhan with standard issue combat dressing.
Kir'Zhan backs off though. Honestly, Taric is the last guy you'd expect help from when it comes to first-aid.
Tarran-3-"Everybody had better get down, doesn't matter who or what you are, ya better get down, because I'm fragging right now!"
Preceded by a series of thumps as the two soldiers in armor throw themselves to the ground, Tarran sets a grenade next to the door and runs.
The following blast damages the door quite extensively. The hinges are still intact, but the handle is mangled. Tarran kicks the door down and goes through.
Zrk-3-"So your master came here to investigate the crystals. Most of you were killed and he escaped, but left the rest here?"
"Yesh, but zey broke our sheep so zat it woodn't follow dem.
"Alright, that's all I needed to know."
Zrk proceeds to kick both aliens in the face, killing both.
Kir'Zhan-Kir'Zhan stands there, clutching his arm to slow the bleeding.
Rayn-Rayn just stands there.

For Damage and Armor:
Penetration consists of bonuses to penetrating armor. If a shot is landed (Depending on a normal roll with negatives based on speed) then penetration is the first roll calculated. Basically:
Penetrate if: d10 + [Penetration Bonus] > [Armor]
Penetration Depth increases the chance of internal damage. This uses a d6, so a +5 penetration depth will guarantee severe internal damage if the armor is breached.
Impact is used afterwards, especially if the attack fails to penetrate. Structural damage is calculated by:
Damage: d4*[Velocity] + [Impact] - [Structure]
The higher the number, the more successful it is. 10 is considered fatal to most beings.
For Wounds:
Brown = Bruised
Orange = Flesh wound
Green = Poisoned/infected
Red = Loss of function, non-permanent
Teal = Permanent loss of function
Crimson = Artery damage
Black = Permanently disabled
White = Missing

Bad rolls this turn...
Sareesa-6-Waiting for the blindness to wear off, Sareesa formulates a brilliant plan in her mind. After observing the aliens for a while and scanning the area, she puts her helmet on backwards and rushes in, blade drawn and slices both aliens in half. Her momentum also causes her to hit the sphere, causing it to shatter and plunging the room into darkness.
Success! Kind of...
Gordon-1-Gordon slows down to get a good aim on the enemy. The enemy fire bounces off his hull once more, but the constant spray of broken shards keeps blocking out his vision and keeps him from locking on.
Oh, and he only has two missiles left, not three.
Rayn-2-Rayn decides to explore. He opens the door and walks out. The next thing he perceives is that there is a knife at his neck and there are five very angry looking aliens standing over him.
"Human! Prepare to die!"
Taric-3-Hearing the commotion, Taric rushes out the door, weapon drawn, to see Rayn at the mercy of five armed aliens equipped with rifles.
Tarran-3-Tarran enters and immediately a huge grin appears on his face.
The walls are lined with crossbows and grenades, but in the distance hangs a big, shiny plasma rifle on the wall, complete with bayonet.
Beside it are four large RPGs.
This is too good to be true.
Zrk-2-Zrk sticks the two biped's weapons into hammerspace and walks out standing next to Taric.
Kir'Zhan-3-Kir'Zhan takes out some combat dressing and wraps his arm with it. A little stiff, but it'll have to do.

Sareesa-3-Sareesa takes off her helmet and--seeing that she cannot see--decides to creep along the wall until she finds another doorway. She does not find another doorway.
Gordon-5-Firing a missile at the next one and hitting perfectly, Gordon focuses on the last pair of fighters. Waiting for just the right moment, he presses the button and fires.
The missile tears through the first ship's shield, and continues on through the one behind it, sending the innards of both ships falling charred to the ground.
Gordon shouts "Can you say collateral!?" and turns his attention to the fray below, watching one chunk of the enemy fighter land on an elite.
Rayn-4-Rayn panics under the stress of the situation, but is relieved to see the falling debris land on top of the elite holding him, knocking it out and releasing him. He jumps up and draws his bow.
Taric-1-Taric jumps forward to wrestle down the alien holding Rayn. However, he doesn't notice the debris and gets hit too.
Tarran-5-"Oh HECK YES, PLASMAAAAAAAAAA!!!!"
Delighted at the new variation in weaponry, Tarran rushes forward and grabs a pair of RPGs fully loaded with rockets as well as the rifle on the wall. Now covered in guns, he wonders where the others are and how the interrogation went.
Zrk-3-Zrk opens up with a volley of fire from his MAC, forcing the elites to the ground in an attempt to escape. The one on the ground is quickly perforated and killed, while the others dodge out of the way.
Kir'Zhan-3-Kir'Zhan follows the others and confronts the enemies. However, any intimidation that could have resulted from his height advantage is quickly negated by his wounded state.

Sareesa-5-Sareesa flips the switch on her helmet, and immediately the room flashes brightly, then fades to a cool green. Now that she can see, Sareesa notices the two doorways as well as the exit into the hall she came from. One doorway has a large X on it, while the other has what looks like a =.
Gordon-2-"Alright guys, so what did I miss?"
No response.
"Guys?"
Suddenly the radio erupts into gunfire.
Rayn-1-Rayn, gripped with pure survival instinct, rolls into a small alcove where he calls out to Saith from.
Taric-2-Taric opens his eyes and notices that he is in a room full of kittens. One of them is licking his armored foot.
Tarran-2-With a gleeful smile on his face, Tarran rushes out he door and sees the elites. He can't decide which weapon to use.
(Equip plasma rifle or AR-33?)
Zrk-6-Zrk continues shooting, missing most of his shots but managing to score a direct hit on one crippling its leg. He notices his ammo is getting low. (Rolled a 2 for the aiming roll :()
Kir'Zhan-4-Despite his injury, Kir'Zhan charges into battle and grabs the elite that Zrk merely crippled. Being sure to stay out of the line of fire, Kir'Zhan rushes back tot he group, the elite still not realizing what's going on, and strikes down the elite with a solid stab to the face.
-------------------------------------------------------------
For Damage and Armor:
Penetration consists of bonuses to penetrating armor. If a shot is landed (Depending on a normal roll with negatives based on speed) then penetration is the first roll calculated. Basically:
Penetrate if: d6 + [Penetration Bonus] > [Armor]
Penetration Depth increases the chance of internal damage. A +5 penetration depth will guarantee severe internal damage if the armor is breached.
Impact is used afterwards, especially if the attack fails to penetrate. Structural damage is calculated by:
Damage: d6 * [Velocity] + [Impact] - [Structure]
The higher the number, the more successful it is. 10 is considered fatal to most beings.
For Wounds:
Brown = Bruised
Orange = Flesh wound
Green = Poisoned/infected
Red = Loss of function, non-permanent
Teal = Permanent loss of function
Crimson = Artery damage
Black = Permanently disabled
White = Missing

Roll 29: Kittens!
Mook Issue:
Claws (+5 Penetration)
Biped: The bipeds are among the smartest of the generic strains of Xer'gi, with a visible brain that emits light through their translucent head. They have impeccable aim, quickly regenerating arm spikes, as well as blood vessels reinforced with a strange purple material that contrasts their green exterior. They wear armor over their chest and legs, leaving their arms free to operate weaponry and machinery.
Despite having a pair of sharp mandibles for a jaw, they can speak quite articulately but lack strong biting abilities. They are normally herbivores.
Mook Issue:
Alien Crossbow
Spikes (+5 Penetration)
Mook Issue:
Tentacles (Grasping)
Maw (+10 Penetration) (+10 Penetration Depth)
BrUte: The brutes are a unique strain of Xer'gi, known not only for their strength and size, but their complete inability to process morality codes.
They have blueish plates over their crystalline skin, as well as large blades on their arms. Other than that and a difference in proportion, they look very much like a large biped with more armor.
Their armor gives a massive bonus to resistance, while their blades are highly effective melee weapons, despite the fact that they generally prefer ranged weapons due to their speed.

---Players---
Sareesa-5-You cautiously open the door and look through the crack. The walls are lined with various weapons. It should be noted that since many of the alien weapons rely on flinging shards at the enemy, they are mostly silent.
A lone guard is on the ground, sleeping. Observing it closely, you notice that it is clutching a diamond-shaped object with glowing red lights on it, as well as a large X.
Gordon-3-"Guys, take them alive!"
No response, just more gun fire. Sounds like Tarran joined in. You think he even heard a splintering tree in the distance.
Rayn-2-Seeing Salth in the sky looking at the enemies, You signal for her to come and rescue you. She lands in front of you, narrowly dodging a slug on the way.
Taric-2-You reach out to the nearest kitten, but it jumps away! Rushing forward, you try again, but they just move too fast.
Suddenly, the kittens assemble together to form a kitten golem! The horror!
The golem punches you swiftly in the chest, sending you flying through the air. You hit a doorway in the procces, when opens and drops an ironing board on your head!
Back in the real world, Taric lunges at an elite, which quickly dodges and punches him into a tree, which breaks and lands on his head.
Tarran-2-"GET ON THE GOSHDARN GROUND WITH YOUR HANDS ON YOUR HEAD OR I'LL RIP YOU APART ATOM BY ATOM WITH THIS MOTHER FREAKING GUN!"
The elite in the blue armor replies, "Actually, that weapon doesn't tear anything apart. It actually sublimates..."
"I SAID GET ON THE GROUND!"
The elite whispers something to his two remaining comrades, and all of them simultaneously lift up their weapons and fire. The two subordinates miss horribly, while the squad leader actually manages to nail you in the chest. Luckily for you, your armor is highly heat-resistant, so you are completely unharmed.
You retaliate with a burst of plasma fire, noting the weapon's jarring recoil. You obviously miss, having never fired the gun before.
Kir'Zhan-4-Kir'Zhan looks up towards the roof. However, a shot fired at Tarran manages to hit you in the chest instead, and the shot goes right through your armor and sinks ito your flesh. Luckily, it's only a flesh wound, but it needs wound dressing later.
Shrugging that off, you jump into the air, hook onto the roof with your arm spikes, and lift yourself up onto the roof. The elites take notice of this but they are unsure of whether to attack you or the charging chainsword maniac. SPEAKING OF WHICH...
Zrk-1-You charge blindly into battle! The elite disarms you! Uh oh.

Sareesa-2-You knock the alien out with a quick punch to the head. That was easier than you thought.
Noticing the object in his hand, you put it off to the side and fail to notice its glowing.
Tying the alien to a chair in the corner with some rope you find, you look around for a pistol of sorts. You don't find one.
Suddenly, you take notice of the devices beeping. You suddenly feel as if you are being fed through a meat grinder into a kitten's mouth. When it stops, you feel like nothing just happened. Weird.
You then see your stats list, and plaintively sigh.
NEW PERK UNLOCKED!
Gordon-4-Instead of yelling, you simply hold the trigger down and smile innocently as you unleash hundreds of bullets. Things can't get any better than this.
The two subordinates fall immediately under the hail of fire, leaving the squad leader as the sole survivor.
New Killstreak!: Pavelow... oh wait, you already have a chopper. NEXT.
Rayn-2-You hop onto Salth and fly over to taric, who then jumps up and runs towards the fight, completely ignoring you.
Taric-2-You jump up and run towards the golem, reaching for your gun. Despite the fact that it is in fact a sock, you open fire anyway as ducks fall from the sky, crushing the golem.
By the way, your gun is and was empty this whole time.
Tarran-5-"Well, you guys are obviously intelligent. So let me ask you: Is this job really worth dying for? Can't we all just have a cup of tea?"
After saying this, you continue to fire at the last elite, nailing him in the head and breaking his shields, knocking him to the ground from the force of the dissipation.
Kir'Zhan-4-Deciding that you'd like to steal the kill, you throw yourself down from the roof, and land right next to the elite. He then grabs you by the throat.
Zrk-4-While the elite struggles to figure out what to do next (as he has no melee weapon, and his gun is two-handed) he quickly throws Kir'Zhan, who then grabs the gun and knocks him out with it. You jam the spork into one of his eyes, immediately waking him up again.
-------------------------------------------------------------
Game Event: The elite grins.
"I believe there is nothing left for me to do."
Zrk looks at Kir'Zhan, who whispers whether they should kill him now or not.
"But you will not be getting out of this alive. You are surrounded. There is no esca---!"
Before it finishes its sentence, a massive blade covered in green blood replaces the elites head.
Thea steps forward, retracting the weapon.
"I've rigged up the colony ship's doors to explode any time now. But right now we've got bigger stuff on our hands."
A behemoth, followed by four more, each mounted by a brute wielding over-sized melee weapons, breaks through a building behind the group.
"I can fly up on top of the SAM tower to give some cover fire, but anyhow, we've got company."
Enemy army incoming!

Sareesa-4-The alien stirs, then realizes his predicament.
He looks down, then at the no-longer glowing red object.
He then looks at you. "Whaddya want?"
"First of all," You start,
"I'd like you to explain how I can suddenly make things explode when I fail to kill them."
"Well, I don't know how it works."
"How are you speaking so clearly?"
"Same kind of device. It lets me speak like the elites."
"Don't they tell you anything?"
"Something about the fourth wall... err... dimension. That's the word. It utilizes temporal mechanics to change the way physics work. It's quite complicated, really."
"Alright. Now tell me why your race came here."
"The island, of course."
"The one I'm standing on?"
"Yes. There's something hidden inside. We were ordered to basically hold out to let the exalted escape."
"The exalted? Who are these"
"You saw the crawlers, right? They're given the least ability with some kind of 'way'. It's in their religion. We bipeds are next up. We don't really have any sort of connection with the 'way' they keep telling us about. The exalted--at least that's what they call themselves--supposedly have the strongest connection. They are much smarter than we are."
"So one of them came to investigate the island, and they discovered a threat? Explain."
"Yes. This threat you talk about... we can't pronounce the name... but we just call it It. It is a sub-dimensional being that is simply hostile to everything. We don't know why. The exalted ran from It for centuries, and they thought they'd finally escaped It, but they found it again in the island."
"Man, you're easy to get information out of."
tl:dr Same thing the other guys found out, but with more detail
Gordon-5-"Command, I'm out of missiles."
"Roger that. We've sent in a drop pod."
The pod comes punching through the clouds as the Iron Hand hovers gently in orbit. The crate lands on a brute, crushing it under its weight.
Now to pick it up...
Rayn-6-Flying up into the sky, you catch a glimpse of the force you're dealing with. Before you can properly identify them, you duck behind a volley of shards from the dozens of bipeds attacking. Diving down towards them, you burn them to cinders before retreating behind a tower.
Taric-1-You go to sleep, and immediately wake up. Suddenly, Tarran grabs you and tosses you onto the ground for some reason.
Tarran-5-Grabbing Taric, you wake him up by knocking him down onto the ground. He is now awake, but a squad of elites just came out from around the corner. They promptly explode in a cloud of flame and energy.
Thea lowers her rifle and extends her wings.
Kir'Zhan-6-Kir'Zhan runs, and meets a crawler around the corner. He also sees a lone elite in the distance, checking searching for you. He sees you and begins running towards you.
Zrk-3-"Command! There's too many of them! We need support now!"
"We are well aware. We're doing what we can, but our lightest orbit-to-ground weaponry is designed to level cities. You'll need to get off the ground before we can sue it. Gordon has a helicopter, and two wings of fighters are on their way."
Alright. At least they're not being totally useless. Meanwhile, numerous elites and brutes march onward.

For Wounds:
Brown = Bruised
Orange = Flesh wound
Green = Poisoned/infected
Red = Loss of function, non-permanent
Teal = Permanent loss of function
Crimson = Artery damage
Black = Permanently disabled
White = Missing

Sareesa-2-"OK, so this... object draws power from the Fourth dimension or wall, or whatever? Could it be used as a weapon against said sub-dimensional monster/creature/thing/"IT"? Perhaps keeping it in this dimension thus allowing it to be killed. If so, I'd be willing to work with you in order to eliminate "IT". I really have no interest in fighting you guys, just pray my companions, the tactless slobs that they are, don't come and end up ruining the whole thing."
"The devices only work near It. It radiates some kind of energy that the Exalted use to power up the devices, which they use to strengthen themselves.
The one you just used was one that I managed to sneak away with, after they left. I was hiding here in the explosives stockpile until something happened."
"So do you think we can use them to defeat It somehow?"
"Not that i'm aware of. It has the capability to connect with the energy It radiates, but none of use know how. You'd need a scientist who can figure it out."
The device starts to glow again. Suddenly, the lights flicker off, then on again.
"What's going on"
"It is near. You can use the device again, though there's no way to know what it'll actually do."
"How many of your kind are left here?"
"Not that many. We have a squad of 15 in the building, but most of us are trying to rig up the colony ship to work again. You wouldn't believe how big of an army they wasted... as if we could take It on."
Gordon-6-You spin up the minigun again and fire. Unfortunately, your line of fire also resulted in hitting the ammo crate, setting off the four missiles inside of it and taking some forces with it. [6] The blast wave causes your engine to stutter before shutting of completely.
You look down and wonder why you aren't falling. Then you fall.
"Command, we're going to need another drop crate. Over."
Rayn-6-You decide to yourself that if there is a large number of enemies left, you should retreat. However, you fail to define what a "large number" is, even to yourself, and end up suicidally diving towards the nearest elite squad. Luckily for you, none of their fire hits, and you burn every last one of them to cinders.
Tarran-2-You kick Taric in the head until he wakes up.
"Get up now you lazy son of a gun!"
"Alright, alright."
While he stands up and draws his launcher, you take out both RPGs and fire them. Not only do you miss completely, but the recoil knocks you to the ground.
Taric-3-After some conflicts with Tarran, you get out your rifle and fire the grenade launcher, [6] landing the shot into a nearby building and collapsing it, [4] hitting the crawlers but completely missing the main force.
Kir'Zhan-5-Suicidally rushing at the enemy in a manner similar to Rayn, you manage to stab a behemoth, [3] apparently hitting a nerve as it recoils in pain and [4] knocks the brute off of its back. You then [4] steal the brute's gun and [1] try to shoot it but it flies out of your hands because of the kickback.
Zrk-3-"So land some marines, darn you, I KNOW WHERE YOU SLEEP."
"I'm sorry sir, but for logistics reasons we can't--"
Before you can finish listening, you take out your MAC gun and shoot a few rounds at the nearest behemoth, [6] but the shots bounce off of its armored carapace.

Sareesa-1-"Command, this mission just got a lot more complicated. Might I recommend ending hostilities with this particular group of aliens and attempting to take on the sub-demensional monstrocity living on this planet."
You hear mostly static in return, but you can tell that someone is breathing on the other end. Then, letting the alien go, you pick up the device as the alien quietly picks up a rifle and faces the door.
"I wonder how this works..."
You look for a seam in the devices construction, but it looks almost as if it's just one solid chunk.
Meanwhile, you begin to hear rather light footsteps as well as something like breathing.
The alien whispers. "Actually, they could be part of my squad. I'll tell them not to attack you if they come."
Gordon-5-Hitting controls randomly, you manage to hit the "reset engine" button by sheer chance, and the helicopter's engine roars to life again. You take control again.
Rayn-2-Intending to cause carnage, you move over to attack a behemoth, and open fire. Both are shrouded in flames, but they merely walk out charred but seemingly unhurt. Looks like brutes have heavier armor than you thought.
Tarran-4-"Son of a..."
Deciding not to risk that again, you pull out your Reaper and start head-shotting bipeds like nobody's business. You manage to nail about 7 of them.
Taric-5-One of the brutes dismounts, and shouts, "Stop shooting! We won't hurt you if you--"
Too late. (7) He's already splattered all over the walls. Poor guy.
Kir'Zhan-5-"I knew guns where useless"
Continuing you assault, you attack another brute, this time realizing that he is telling you to stop and you do so. Over the sound of gunfire, he yells,
"Perhaps this wasn't the best way to introduce ourselves... sorry about trying to kill you, but the elites are so stuck up we can't get them to change their minds. If you can take them out then we can talk about the island."
You look at him inquisitively.
"You came here for the island, right?"
Zrk-1-You continue to fire, not actually hitting anything but forcing everyone to get on the ground for the time being. Although the behemoths do seem to have stopped, and the brutes have dismounted. You don't see Kir'Zhan.

Sareesa-3-"Hmm. By the way, what's your name?"
"Zarg."
"Nice to meet you... Zarg..."
You continue to look for crevices in the device that you could open up. Suddenly, the alien gives a gesture to stop what you are doing.
"That's definitely one person. It could be It. Don't be fooled if It looks like one of us, we always move together."
Gordon-5-You masterfully hold your fire, masterfully impressing everyone with your masterful waste of a 5. Good job! At least you look pretty cool hovering over the area with a giant minigun.
Rayn-6-While swooping down to grab a biped to throw, you get knocked off of Salth by a brute.
"Let go of me!"
"You never learn, do you?"
Kir'Zhan-2-"Why stop fighting now? You seemed eager to kill us before."
"The elites wouldn't agree. Now that the battle is in progress, they lost the element of surprise, and they have no other choice."
One of the elites walks forward, with his squad walking behind him.
Khan, you've... outdone yourself, ruining our ambush like this. Normally we'd kill you, but with these guys around, that would be a very bad idea.
Tarran-5-"I've got bullets in my gun and I'm ready to kill. You'd better have a good reason for me to stop shooting."
Taric-3-You do exactly what Gordon does, but not as awesomely.
Zrk-5-You receive a message from command.
"Captain Zrk, be advised that one of our agents on the planet has determined that there is some kind of sub-dimensional monstrosity on this planet. We don't know the details, but we recommended ending any current hostilities and investigating the island."
Reluctantly, you lower your MAC gun, and proclaim, "Apparently there's an 'it' that hates the lot of us. Since we're obviously the better fighters how about you guys GTFO and send us your intel on 'it' for the time being?!"
The brute speaking with Kir'Zhan replies,
"You don't know what you're getting yourselves into. &#$*HF&$ is in that island. You won't stand a chance alone."
"Who the heck is... that?"
"The bipeds call it It. I'm not sure if you humans have the capability of pronouncing it. That's fine. But we need to work together. It's only a matter of time before It escapes."
The lead elite turns to the group.
Alright, let me explain... there is a sub-dimensional being on this very planet. Our ancestors fought it before, but it was simply too powerful. We'd lose too many valiant warriors, and it would only feast on their defeat grow stronger. It was able to trans-locate itself into a dead body, or even something as dead as a pile of stones, and essentially reanimate it. It was relentless. No matter what, it would not die. We called it &*&YDF&N^, or Mustekala Woodzenbold.
Then, a group of elites calling themselves the Exalted rose up, and claimed they could use a strange device they had to trap the monster. They had about 10 of them, which they activated at the same time. Somehow, those devices were able to connect to the sub-dimension that the being was connected to, and trapped it in this dimension. No longer having a body to control, it was helpless. We built a vault on this planet to store the devices, hoping they would never be discovered.
Then, one day, a reckless human broke through our defenses. She annihilated our best guards, and took one of the devices. Back to Earth, presumably. By doing that though, she activated it, and released part of Mustekala back into the fourth dimension. We did our best to scatter the parts, and before the Fallen One (This is another name for it) could find them, we packed up eight of the pieces and took them across the galaxy. One by one, the Fallen One reclaimed itself, and now, the last piece lies here, on this planet, inside the vault. The Exalted came to take the device to defend it themselves, but the Fallen One arrived first. Whatever happens, we cannot let Mustekala, the Fallen One, reach his full strength once more. If he does, we will have to find the Exalted and reseal Mustekala once more.
"Did you say a human did it?" replies Thea, who just came down from the tower.
"Yes. We do not know who she was, or who she worked for."

For Wounds:
Brown = Bruised
Orange = Flesh wound
Green = Poisoned/infected
Red = Loss of function, non-permanent
Teal = Permanent loss of function
Crimson = Artery damage
Black = Permanently disabled
White = Missing

Mook Issue:

Spikes (+5 Penetration)

Sareesa-1-". . . Well, let's hope "IT" is a moron and doesn't look in here, eh Zarg? Either way, we're going to need to get out of here eventually."
While you continue fiddling with the device, Zarg peeks out through the door again, and closes it with a slight thud.
Since he looks surprised, you has him what happened.
"That's one of my squad-mates. He's got a huge gash in his side and his arm is missing. Why It took that body, I don't know. Maybe something happened to the oth--"
A very unhappy-looking biped slams the door open, leaving a dent in the door as it does so. You slash off its arm, but it begins to rush toward you, screeching until
Gordon-4-You continue to professionally hold your fire, while still looking slightly intimidating.
Rayn-1-Already riding Salth, you decide to look for the others. You can already see everyone but Sareesa (you're flying right over them) but Sareesa isn't here. You then head towards the island.
Kir'Zhan-3-You regroup with the others, unsure whether these aliens can be trusted or not. Regardless, you're sure Gordon could take them in case this is a trick. The wound from before stings a bit, remind you that you should probably treat it soon.
Tarran-4-"So... that's it? You're just asking to ally after we've killed a bunch of your friends just to gain the support of the 6 of us? That quickly? I don't buy it."
"If we had waited any longer, you would have killed more of us. Most of us know we don't stand a chance. Even if we kill you, you have your capital ship overhead. We don't have any other choice. We need your help to stop..."
"The Fallen One?"
"Yes, that thing."
Taric-5-You signal for Gordon to land next to you, and he complies. You then take a nap while he launches again.
Zrk-5-"Well, then come along. But I'll be watching you."
You take out your radio.
"Intel, I'm sending you the comm files from the last exchange. Find out what you can about it, and I may not have to shove the chainsword I mentioned earlier into one of your orifices."

Gordon-6-"Sareesa? What's your status?"
You say that so convincingly and expertly, that you get absolutely nothing accomplished.
Sareesa-5-Receiving the transmeeshun from Gordon, you mutter, "Little busy here..."
As the body lunges forward, you slice it clean in half. The top half begins to drag itself across the floor. You slice that in half as well. Contrary to what you expected, the head does not start moving, but rather the side without the head.
"When will that thing die already?!"
Zarg shouts, "Don't let it touch the device! Bad things will happen!"
Rayn-5-Assessment: You are halfway between the Island and the base.
Kir'Zhan-4-Taking your your standard issue wound dressing kit, (It's assumed everyone has it anyway, I mean why not?) you spray the wound with biofoam, which seals the wound. You then put the kit back with your combat dressing kit, which allows you to.. um... dress... while in battle.
Tarran-4-"Fine, fine. Lead the way."
While humming various songs from a video game you shouldn't even know about by know, you follow the former-bad-guys to the island, where you scan the area for ways to get up.
"How are we supposed to get up there?"
Suddenly, with a screech and a bit of rubble, a staircase descends from the bottom of the island.
"Like that."
Taric-5-You sleep some more, and enter another dream! This time, you are riding a pet mutalisk while fighting wizards, riding turtles themselves.
Zrk-5-You are the first to climb up the staircase. Trying to open a door, but failing, you smash it down instead. There were no controls or anything, so it must have been broken. By what, though?

Gordon-(5-2=3)-You try and trace the location of the radio signal using the advanced functions of your helicopter's radio. However, due it its highly technological nature, combined with your injury, you fail. Not too horribly, but still.
Sareesa-5-You slice the remaining arm off, and you grin as you see the arm completely stop moving. Holding the device far above your head, you get out of the room, Zarg quickly following behind you, while It retreats to find another host.
Rayn-2-You fly over to the island and get something done. Kind of. You dismount and head up into the building.
Tarran-4-Before you enter, Thea makes a landing behind the group. You continue ahead into the door, your plasma rifle drawn and ready to fire.
The brute makes a decision.
"Alright. Since we can't all clutter together in one large group, I believe we should split up. Us brutes take the lead, while the elites take another path and you six take a third. Sounds good?"
Kir'Zhan-3-You... um... follow the others. You stop at a large intersection, and sit down on the metallic and slightly curved floor while the others discuss splitting up.
Taric-4-You wake up. Bonus objective complete! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nkQblVXrbUQ)
Zrk-5-Not so fast. This isn't DF, you can't just path to anyone you know and automatically know the way. You'll have to try harder.
