Title: Meshes, fallout new vegas.
Post by: Gunner-Chan on January 26, 2011, 08:38:01 pm
Well since I don't frequent anywhere else...

I'm having some problems with a mesh I edited in blender. That problem being that it doesn't seem to want to work correctly despite having what appears to be a properly rigged skeleton in blender and nifskope. Does anyone here know what might be going on?

I'm willing to supply screens and everything if anyone is willing to help but keeping this bare for now in case it's a waste of time.

well what have you mainly edited from the meshs and what are you using to convert the meshs for NV?

Okay. Here's what I did.

I wanted to edit the Great Kahn simple armors vest from the female mesh into a single wearable peice. I did this by chopping the rest of the model out in blender after using the nif importer script and leaving and grouping the vest. I left the skeleton intact.

This is the result after making it an item in the geck. Yes it's equipped. It seems to not be hooked up to the skeleton or something.

sideboob!

hmm something screwed up big time, check over the items in the GECK (or what ever its been a while) and see what body part they are attached to, its possible that the script fked up the file too.

Ah. Here's the thing. In both the Geck and nifscope the items appear fine.

Yet in game it does what's pictured. The geck and nifskope shots are EXACTLY how Tailor Maid mod items appear, which is what I was trying to make this piece like.

well then i don't know what you did wrong then, you must have not centered the mesh in its file or something.

Nope. Centered. It's just not following the bones from the look of it to me. For some reason.

geez this is why morrowind was easier to mod, didn't deal with all of this shit.

I don't know a whole lot about this sort of thing, and am basing this off of other game modding, but is it on the right layer?

But anyways, why would you fix it? Everyone loves boobs. :P

This looks exactly like the interface I had to finagle with trying to mod Morrowind.

Anyway, the only thing I can think of is that the x and y values may be offset in some data file somewhere.
Or that could be the fix.

But anyways, why would you fix it? Everyone loves boobs. :P

Breasts are sexier in the right clothes than just nude, in my opinion.

Hmmm. It seems to me you could just take the whole sideboob thing and call it complete.

As I know nothing about this, I can only suggest the debugger option: Repeat every step of the process, testing it each time. You'll either find the step where it breaks, or end up with it working fine and have no idea what went wrong the first time.
