Title: Storm over Normandy - A WW2 RTD
Post by: ShadowZane on February 15, 2011, 06:21:38 am
You are Non-Commisioned Officers from the American Army, leading a squad cleaning the way behind enemy lines before the famous D-Day, all of you from the start command 1 Squad which can from the start on have 1 "special skill" you can use, squads always consist of 5 soldiers. Over the game you might be able to aqquire more squads, or even vehicles, artillery and the like.

Roll system:
For combat actions there is 1 W6 being rolled
6 - You perform the action perfectly
5 - You perform the action better than planned
4 - You perform the action as planned
3 - You perform the action, altough not very great
2 - You fail the action
1 - You totally fail youre planned action.

"Skills":
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

A soldier has 4 HP (Hitpoints), this can increase over missions as they gain experience, all soldiers start with a veteran rank of 0. Also each squad has 1 Cpl, 1 LCpl and 3 Pvts., their rank may increase over missions aswell altough thats just for flavor.
Equipment:
For equipment just enter "standard" in all fields, if you want you can enter some realistic weapon name or what do I know, it just doesnt add anything to combat rolls for not making this overly complicated.
In misc: You can enter anything else, if it is Bios of characters, any special stuff for flavor or anything else.

You need at least 2 stretcher bearers/first responders, one orderly, one surgeon assistant and one surgeon.  Anything less would mean sub-par medical treatment, which our men simply will not have!

EDIT: Alright, re-reading the Geneva Articles, I've found that the medical personnel can switch between combatants and non-combatants; however, they cannot do so mid-engagement, and must strike their symbols (the red cross) before entering combat, so as to clearly distinguish themselves when performing their medical duties.  They also cannot carry weaponry or ammo while wearing their symbol.  I've gone through and re-equipped my men with weaponry, though all men in the squad carry less ammo and a sizable amount of medical supplies.

Misc: Although Sergeant O'Doyle served in the North African campaign, he did not have much combat experience, instead guarding supply depots. The rest of the squad is quite green, signing up only a few months previous.

NOTE: I know this from my dad, who has served in the army, and quickly checking with wikipedia. Although all the Enlisted ranks are technically the same (E-0 through E-9), they have different names. Lance Corporal is the same as Private First Class, but Lance Corporal is a marine term, not army.

Here is the enlisted ranks (E-5 and after is NCO) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_states_army_ranks) to choose from.

Anyways, I won't be here until Monday (heading to Quebec) so my orders are as follows:
If advancing, advance with the other squads. If assaulting a position, set up and launch HE mortars. If defending, retreat then set up and get ready to fire on any targets requested.

That should hold me for two or three turns :D

Alright: Youre first mission is to secure a small village close to the water, you need to swim a large piece of the way for stayind undetected, so all of youre squad gain -1 in all rolls to the first 3 rounds
You just arrived at the beack area and laid down to scout for targets, all of youre equipment was hulled in special material so it is able to fire now, however, there are no enemies sightable on the beachline..you might advance or look out further.

Dwarmin
Secure the beach!
5-1 = 4
You succesfully manage to secure the beach, giving all positioned on it a +1 bonus when being attacked!

Taricus:
Get onto the beach quietly.
3 -1 = 2
You make quite some noise advancing onto the beach...however it seems you had luck and have noone noticing you.

Frelock:
Cautiously advance.
5-1 = 4
You move up the beachline without any problems, in arround 200 metres of distance you can see the light of a village, youre target.

RP:
You land on the beach and 2 of 3 squads start to move up the beach, however one of them istn really stealthy while doing so. The radio operator squad stays on the beach defending the others while advancing, some lights are seen in the air scouting for planes, too bad they dont know whats coming for them..

Summary:
Taricus: Troops advanced towards the target
Dwarmin: Defending the beach
Frelock: Spotting village, advanced towards the target

To the new applicants:
Zrk2, you are a anti-tank team, not grenadiers with knives, edit youre post please
mcclay: Perfect, welcome to the game^^
NightS: Only one of youre guys has a sniper rifle, rest is standard, also, do you need TWO spotters?^^

Set up defencive positions.
[4] You manage to put up a small trench where you can lay down inside without being detected.
Hold up for the other teams; keep careful watch.
[3] You carefully wait for the other teams to get to youre position, you do not notice any enemy movements.
Follow Taricus's Squad, try to keep low
[4] You move behind Taricus Squad covering them while they dig the small trench (+1 Defense)
Call HQ for latest scout plane reports on enemy strength.
[5] You recieve the latest reports scouting 1 Tank, 4 Troops transporters and arround 40 Soldiers in the village.

move toward and scout the enemy in the village
