Title: Trolls Instead of Dwarves. Why?

Okay, this is weird. I got .19 and right when I fire it up I realized that instead of dwarves, I have trolls. Humans have been replaced with ogres and elves with unicorns. They are treated as if they were animals in adventure mode. You can't talk with other things. They have classes and whatnot. But there appears to be no goblins or orcs whatsoever. I didn't mod the raws at all before I discovered this. I made several other worlds now including one with just five years of history. So not much room for them to die out there.

try downloading again and see if it persists

I don't think you're the first one with this problem... which OS are you using?

How many threads have you posted this in so far, anyway?

Like I asked in another thread, though, did you unzip this version into its own folder, and copy *nothing* into it?

Just the two threads. I did not changes whatsoever.

This happened to me once, THE DWARVES WERE ELVES! The elves were humans, the humans were goblins, I think the goblins were jabberers and the kobolds were trolls. This even appeared in the world viewer so I tried it.

Elves die easily.

It is essentially unplayable. I can't set jobs (I can butcher citizens though). They don't even have personalities. Gotta wait for .20 I guess.

Just download the game again and unzip it into a different directory?

1) Delete dwarf fortress folder
2) Unzip the new version
3) Profit

This only ever occurs when there's an error in the RAWs. Get a clean version of the game.

did try downloading it again, sometimes you only need to download it again and see what happens..
