Ehh, this thread is about all forum games. The HoL one is for ones a lot of people like, not every single one.

And besides, if you're that worried about it, it hasn't been updated in a while.

Yeah. That is more past, this is more present. We can work together. (Although I am surprised Toady would stick something based on popularity. One of the caveats of the sticking of this thread was that it could not be selective in who it added and it was not allowed to add a rating to the games.)

All right. Got the last four requests in.

Fixed the list.

Now Unlucky Joe Beta, Fallout Shelter Experiment, The Blatant Rip-off: American Champion, Elfin Refugees, Countries At War, War of the Excelerons, and Dawn of Worlds have all been taken off the list. If some one wants them to be archived or vacationed or what ever, speak now.

In addition, it does not work to PM everyone whose game dies, some of these people do not even know about the forum games list and I have gotten more then one irritated reply. So I will not be automatically passing out PMs when a game is close to dieing. If you still want a PM for your game, that is fine, tell me and I will PM you when it dies.

I guess ultimately it going in its own thread on the child board would be best. But I do not have any particular issues hosting a RTD section on this thread.

Do any other formites that read this list have any thoughts on it?

Hmmm... I don't know. Personally, I think a thread on the child forum would be best. However, there are so little active RTDs that it all fits in on one page. I personally don't think we even need to list the games, since all people need to do is check the sub-forum and on the first page should be every active game.

Turns out I am a lazy bastard and only clean it out once every couple of days, so yeah. It is time to remove that. I am going to move it down to the archive.

Edit: No wait, I do not read though most forum games here, I am going via the last post period. So the snail game is still 'alive'.

Still, this is not the perfect way.... Maybe I should try to go by last update... But quite frankly, that would exponentially increase the amount of work needed by me.

One of the main reasons Fiefdoms@War is successful is because Iituem writes a program as the game goes on to help with him the tedious stuff. The @War games will probably see a surgence if the dabbling+ programmer GMs get in the habit of doing the same, possibly getting a hold of Iituem's source code to save some effort.

I suggest not to, since most RTD's have a short lifespan unless there is a dedicated GM. And we'd just be adding games which everyone already knows about and/or are on the first page all of the time.

We had some trouble getting sessions in during December, but that's December for you. We're also looking to replace some lost players. Luckily, I have a standing "we completely ignore the in-universe character continuity" policy.

I'm going to have to remove Metal Skylines. The updates were too infrequent, I had a bad plan on what/how I should draw, and I lacked options for the character. I'll start from scratch if I ever try again, and I should have a better plan on what to draw and what not to.

I actually do know what you mean. I think the original Homestuck RPG would best go under Tabletop RPGs, whereas the other would be best fit for the regular RPGs section. As in it's a game, and they're certainly roleplaying.

I feel weird requesting an RTD to be added, but since it's gone on so long if nothing else, I'll request Mushroom Kingdom Wars (http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=87745.0) be added to the RTDs section.

I only remember that tabletop was suggested as a thing for games with an actual system for stuff and mechanics that were thought out. SoC has all of that, while Runners has none of it. Therefore Runners stays where it is, but SoC should be moved to tabletop. In my eyes. And head.

I think tabletop more implies the obvious definition: it could be played as, you know, a tabletop game. HSRPG counts as a tabletop game because, while it's play-by-post, the ruleset and game are built for tabletop play. Same with Winds of the Wartorn Void, Eastern Marches, Rogue Trader... I think that's what Cript's getting at here.

It would have worked better if it weren't so tightly defined.

Since stat-based RPGs like Medieval are becoming more popular, you could try using that. Or to make things more broad and less restricting, Roguelike RPGs and Sandbox RPGs.

I'm not sure, but I think that An Awakening should be moved to multi-player games. On one hand it fits in more with the others in single-player, on the other hand, each player has a character of sorts which influences the main character through literally talking to her in her mind, so while they can only directly influence one character, during battle sequences and some other events each controls their own character.
What do you think?

Alright. Updated and all. I had a post with all the info like I like to do but I deleted it on accident there is no way in hell I am doing all that again.

When you people say MMRPG what do you mean? We have MC and MN, but no MM. So I am confused and most likely need to fix some stuff.

Due to confusion about it being related to Amnesia: Dark Decent, I am considering alternative titles.  Best so far is "A Bird's Awakening" (which sounds way less cool than "Making a Cat Cry"[1] (http://www.prequeladventure.com/)).

It's as active as can be expected, given the fact that I post an update almost immediately when a new reply comes in (to the point where I've delayed the update by an hour to see if being on the first page will attract interest, and then posting the update after it falls down the page a while).

That's a really good point. I have not been a good host at all. Does anyone else want to run the forum games list? Because apparently I am a terrible person who can't take responsibility.

I could probably run it, though I do tend to disappear in week-long blocks occasionally because of various issues, I'm on often enough to keep the thing updated and I usually keep an eye on the sub-forum even when I don't have the time to actually log on and do stuff.

I'll probably step down if someone better offers their services though.

First off, I see this thread as helpful and relevant. I would have (probably) never discovered some of the better games on this forum from ages past without it. I think that, in the end, that's its most important job.

On the other hand, I mostly see people around here trying to list games as active that can be found in the first couple of pages 99% of the time because this isn't the MSPA forums. I do not see this as a very necessary action, especially if they're going to be kicked off when they become inactive (and slip to page 6 after a couple weeks or more, thus making them more difficult to find anyway).

PotL, you have my vote for doing whatever it is you're going to do to keep it active (restart, perhaps), but whatever you do, I would suggest taking a couple cues from the other thread (http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=104811.0). The RTD Library does not allow a game to enter if it has not been running for a month at least, and games can be voted on for quality. I'm not totally sure voting on such an enormous list of games is exactly helpful for finding them (especially compared to the nice category system we have here), but other than that, the RTD library is worth a look if you're going to restart anew.

That said, I am against refusing to list games just because they are new, or for any reason. But it's up to you I guess.

The thread does serve as more of a current listing rather than a hall of fame, so I won't make any restrictions on adding games.  That being said however, what do you think of games just being deleted if they last less than a month rather than being moved to the dead section?

Also planning on adding a description to each game, should the author provide one.

Well, that's already what is suppose to happen to games. I think I only personally put in like two games into the dead section. The rest were added on suggestion.

Well, some games receive an "okay, this is ABSOLUTELY DEAD" confirmation from their author (which usually turns out to be true). But others just sort of drift off and you never really know when they're going to come back. I mean. Multiworld Madness II just came back ???

So I kind of see why a list-keeper would not add any/many to the dead section personally and just delete them.
