Title: Aftershocks-Suggestion Game
Post by: jc6036 on August 15, 2011, 12:00:20 am
You are sitting in a nondescript office, the flurescent bulbs humming softly overhead. This is your work space up on the 40th floor of this huge building. Outside you can see other huge buildings stabbing upwards into the sky, and beyond that a smog fillled sky. On you computer screen is the image of a document that you had just typed up for your boss, which is getting ready to print out. Next to your pc is a picture of your wife and child, the whole reason you took this job, to make money and support them. You are staring at your picture, thinking of your care free past when the sound of the printer snaps you out of it. A sheet with a fairly large amount of words and graphs on it slides out and comes to a halt. This little piece of paper may mean a promotion from your boss, and you cant just let that slip by. Not with a second little one on the way.

You begin looking over your paper, sales figures, percentages, things you wish that you didn't have to bother with. Wait, you forgot to put your name on the paper! You get back on your computer and begin typing your name at the bottom of the paper. Oh dear. You can't seen to remember your name. You must be particularly frazzled this morning. What is your name?

Alright then. You type "Smith, George." And print the paper out once again. Thats better. You step into a hallway and head towards your bosses office, passing the elevator on the way. You stop at the water cooler, deciding to get a drink to clear up your nervous cotton mouth. You are walking towards to cooler when you noticed that there is a uniform ripple going through it, yet no one around. The ripples start escalating in size and speed, the water eventually making little waves inside.

You back away, and bump into a wall. Suddenly, a picture falls off of the wall and shatters. You look for a structural shelter, but then remember that you are on the 40th floor of the building. Your heart beat quickens as panic sets in. A crack runs up the dry wall, spewing out dust. Several similar cracks appear up and down the hall, and you begin to feel a vibration under your feet.

You begin a to sprint down the hall, but then realize that you're getting nowhere running around on the 40th floor of this building. The floor gives a powerful shake and tosses you to the floor, and your running speed doesnt help much.

Look out a window, try to find a fire-escape.

You run up to a window and see. . . .a forty story drop, with a small concrete ledge every 5 stories. Down below, the streets are chaos, with crashed cars, cars crashing and. . . .a dead body, hanging half way out of a windshield, a small pool of blood beginning to form. Inside, you feel the floor list slightly, and another rumble nearly sends you out of the window. You had better find some way out of here, and somewhat quickly.

Run down the stairs.

You look for stairs to run down, and see remember the emergency stairs in the corner of the building. You make a break for it, and are finally at the stairs. Here there is an emergency light on, and an old fashioned fire hose emergency kit on the wall. The building lets out a massive groan and begins to lean slightly. You know that you will never make it down these stairs just by running before the building topples and crushes you.       ((ok, we seriously need more suggesters. I'm not going to let this game die if I can keep getting more suggestions.

JUmp down the center of the stairs, skipping some floors every jump.

You grab the firehose and unwind it, and loop the nozzle around the railing and grab on, getting a good grip on the hose part. You brace your feet, and begin rappeling down the center of the stairs. About halfway down a huge chunk of ceiling falls down and sails past, shattering on the ground floor. With the rumblings escalating you finally reach the bottom, and run through the emergency exit. Looking back at the building, you can see the foundations cracking, and the building begins to lean. Ever so slightly at first, but with a great groaning of metal and crash of concrete, it falls, sending a massive cloud of dust out and into the air. The cloud washes over you, and unfortunatley, you get two lungs full of it. Coughing and hacking, you manage to stumble out of it and view the massive wreckage of your old workplace. Good riddance.       (char switch in the next post)

go to an open area like a park, as to avoid any falling rubble.

You are sitting in your living room of your small house. On the television is the news, the reporter talking about the earth quakes that had been escalating recently in asia. Your child of 7 years is reading a small book at the kitchen table, his little brow furrowed in concentrition. You begin feeling a little rumble under your feet, and the pictures on the wall rattle a bit. You drop the book that you were revising, your name in black on the rough copy. You check your name again to assure that this is really happening, and not just a dream.

Your name clears up, your vision unblurring. For one moment it appears to say Hannah Armgod, your maiden name. Then your brain sorts it out as Hannah Smith. The rumbling escalates, and eventually pictures begin to fall off of the walls and plaster dust falls off of the ceiling. From the kitchen table, you can here your child yelling for you. "Ma-mommy, Whats going on!?!" You begin a reply, but you struggle to recall your childs name.

Okay, with more suggestions comes faster updating :P                               You run towards the sound of your childs voice, and it feels as if you have wind helping you to get to your son. You dash into the kitchen and wrap your arms around your child, and look around you as your plates and glass ware fall off of the shelves and shatter.

BUMP.       Ok people, come on, keep the suggestions coming. Also, this was meant to be a somewhat serious Suggestion game. I didn't think that I'd have to state that, but there it is.
