Yeah I noted this on the Discord to resounding silence.  Hopefully they fix this soon.

Never got any migrants past the initial two waves, so I'm probably stuck with these 18 duders.  It's been 2-3 years.

Got a waterfall working in the new meeting hall, converted the old one into a general-use temple.  Dorfs now spend more time in temple than the funny misty hall I worked hard on of course.

Human traders showed up, was tempted to buy their whips, and a caged capybara.  Got more picks, cloth and leather bins, and cheese.

Built an inn above my fort on the surface, maybe it'll attract permanent residents since migrants aren't real.  General constructions (like basic walls and floors) are a pain in the ass in Steam as you need to click one morbillion times to designate a block for every wall/floor tile.  At least let me hold shift to choose 10 or something.

No sign of goblins or anything actually dangerous yet.

Keep watching.  I had this same situation for 2.5 years, and then suddenly a wave of 33 migrants showed up and totally swamped my fort.  Once word got out that I actually had money, they started coming from all over and now I have a 154-dorf metropolis with hot and cold running forgotten beasts (literally - blob of ice and fire-breathing leech on second cavern layer).

No, I found that button too, but the report only has one line in it.  It's not a proper report.

DF Bug Reports / Re: Notes on Bug Reporting

Is Mantis still the place to report bugs, or is there a new platform/method in use for the Steam release?  I have a crash that was listed as "fixed" by Toady in 2019 but it seems to have crept back in with the new version (i.e., crashing with errorlog.txt just spamming "Midmap effective coordinate check out of bounds")

I don't think they found the artifact, but the Reports used to give a longer list of "went here, did this, came back" but here there doesn't seem to be any report.

This may not be the place for this, but... is there an intention to release Legends Viewer as a mod for the Steam DF as well?  I would dearly love it if so  :)

Thanks for all you do!

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Steam: Missions

Hi all... so the new version, I found an artifact that claimed to be nearby and sent a squad after it.  They went out, came back a bit later... no artifact.  Oh well.  But when I clicked on Reports to see the report of what they did it didn't show anything?  Are missions just broken in the new version?

Also - not really 100% topical but god I miss Legends Viewer  :D

Recently started a glacier fortress for the first time, and have been getting by with only 18 dwarves figuring I was just getting a low number of migrants due to how secluded the fort was. Got suspicious after 3 and a half in-game years of no migrants and checked, turns out a few irl months back I turned the pop cap in d_init really low for a challenge fort and completely forgot :o not my brightest moment

Hey... you can do a hell of a lot with 18 dwarves  :)  They're industrious little buggers, and that way you don't have to worry about tons of guildhalls and such.

So, in keeping with the theme of Legends finds that make you say "wtf you must be kidding"...

I receive a notification "Dether Imoxidel, Human Butcher fallen stalker is visiting."  Name is pretty baller, but OK... undead visitors usually get the axe in my forts because they only visit to cause trouble.  Out of morbid curiosity, I go to Legends Viewer and investigate.  Who was this Dether person?

Dether was, frankly, a manwhore.  His entire history was a long list of "started a relationship with" or "married" followed a year or two later with "divorced".  Men, women, our boy didn't particularly care; he was just interested in sampling every possible dish on the buffet.  His entire life was one long string of this.  I was assuming after the eighth or ninth ended relationship that the townspeople chipped in to pay the local necromancer to take this threat to the sanity of the locals away, but no.  Dether died of old age.  But!  Word of his magic sexual powers had spread, it seems.  A necromancer revived him... and he then MARRIED THE NECROMANCER.  The D was so good, it got brought back to continue the sexing from beyond the grave.

Forget FBs, bronze colossi and other dangers... obviously Dether's dick is the biggest threat in the Wondrous Land.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Statuary and Details Mode

Hi all, I've been out of the game for a few years and now it seems that statues turn out random, even when you specifically request an image of (say) a deity.  I have tried several times to request statues of specific deities for areas of my fort (god of learning for the library, etc.) and it worked once... the other four times I ended up with images of some random goblin, an elf, a forgotten beast... none of them even mentioned the deity.  Is there a workaround for this?  Thanks in advance!

So... new fort, only a few years old, and I've noticed a couple of oddities that didn't seem to be an issue when last I played:

- I had a hunter just spontaneously become a necromancer.  Now she's listed as a student of someone who isn't in the fort, and there's no books of life and death in my (still very limited) library.  How?
- I have had several incursions from caverns of minor annoyances (troll, few trogs, etc.) which leads me to believe I have a path open into them but... I don't.  The usual detection methods via pathing, etc., show no access.  How?
- I have a lot (like, one per season) night creatures of various types wandering my map now.  Where did they come from?
- I have had several undead-appearing creatures with odd names showing up in my public tavern claiming to be people Legends mode shows to be dead.  Are these just lying visitors or something more sinister?

The community's help is welcome, as I'm a few years out of the loop on this bad boy and the learning curve is oddly steep.  :)  Thanks!

So... my engraver is known for being salty, but THIS is what he decided belonged in the "outsider temple" upstairs...

First fort in 2 years, I got up to maybe 30 dorfs and had a military.  Go me.  A fire-breathing lobster emerged in the caverns and my dorfs had head-to-toe coverage in iron armor, so out they went.  The FB rolled over the military, into the fort, and Syrupoaks Got Rekt.  GG, F in the chat.  It was a nice welcome back, I have to admit.

I think they were able to beat it through amazingly good rolls and the Magic Power of Shields(tm).  Shields protect against a lot of fire, and one of them got a lucky hit early on in the thing's neck.  It was just amazing that it wasn't the insta-wipe I figured was coming  :)
