Trying to load a 1050 year world results in this error, consistently occurring right after Legends Viewer attempts to read the sites. I read earlier in the thread a similar issue was being caused by duplicate named entities. Tediously, I started checking for duplicate civ names, site names, and group names. The only result was finding two sites with the same dwarven name "Berduthnur" one being Earthguarded and the other being Earthenguarded. Changing the name yielded nothing. I'd love to hear as to how to proceed from hear.
The duplicated names of entities did not result in a crash, but in wrong connections between data, so I don't think your problem is related.

Did you use LegendsViewer 1.19.10?
If you used the most recent version of Legends Viewer and the error still happens, then please upload your exported files to the Dwarf Fortress File Depot (DFFD).

The files that I need to test things are:
Code: [Select]
regionx-xxxxx-xx-xx-legends.xml
regionx-xxxxx-xx-xx-legends_plus.xml
regionx-xxxxx-xx-xx-world_history.txt
regionx-xxxxx-xx-xx-world_map.bmp
regionx-xxxxx-xx-xx-world_sites_and_pops.txt

I am indeed using 1.19.10.

DF General Discussion / Re: Dwarven poetry (bad is the new good)
« on: February 18, 2015, 12:26:04 pm »
I based this somewhat off of one of the randomly generated poetic forms Toady posted. I followed it somewhat loosely.

>A ribald poetic form intended to describe religion, originating in The Nations of Holding. The poem is six tercets. Use of alliteration is characteristic of the form. Each line has eight syllables. The ending of every line of the poem rhymes with every other. The third line of each tercet must expand the idea of the first line.

This servant of Stozu greets you
The god of Fortresses and War
With his great aid, our foes were slew

In conflict, I look to the star
After battle, we all get brew
In war, I know you are not far

At their defenses, we break through
Parties afterwards at the bar
The bloody siege left very few

From that battle, I gained a scar
With Stozu with me, foes I'll hew
Enemies bodies, left to char

With this triumph, we start anew
Adversaries are not on par
Thanks to Stozu, we overthrew

That morning, my friends and I spar
That night we dine on beef and stew
In the dark, I look to that star

DF Modding / A LOTR modification in the making
« on: December 17, 2014, 09:40:26 pm »
I've been working on this LOTR based mod for a bit now. It started off as a personal project, but I feel that if I had some help, this could turn into a proper mod. I'm quite limited in experience, as it was my first shot at modding, and I just learned as I went. I'm looking to be as true to the book as possible. What I do not aim to do is for it to be set in a world that resembles Middle Earth nor do I want to depict the history of Middle Earth. I intend to portray all the races and various aspects of The Lord of the Rings, with the setting taking place inside the chaotic nature of Dwarf Fortress. A side goal of mine is to depict weapons and armor realistically. As an example I've started balancing the not so great weapons such as the scimitar. If anyone is interested with helping out, send a message my way, I'd be extremely thankful.

As for the actual mod, I haven't a clue when it will be in a finished state. So far for races I've got Gondorians, Rohirrim, Noldor, Sindar, Orc(with Uruk-hai being a caste), the Dunedain, and the three main Dwarven clans: Longbeard, Firebeard, and Broadbeams. They are all castes under a single Dwarf(Khazad) creature. I've changed ethics so the Elves won't war with the race of Men, though there are times I see in generated worlds where it happens. Other features are just little changes I won't go over at the moment as I haven't even begun to write them down.
I'd greatly appreciate ideas and any input at all.
