With the loss of the DFFD database, would anyone happen to have a mirror of this lovely tileset?

Nevermind, I am dumb, found it in jecowa's github. I'd have been so bummed if I couldn't use this, it's so pleasant to look at.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: I know losing is fun but...

The much better solution, that doesn't require waiting an unknown amount of time for a fix, or editing raws, is simply to play fortress mode in the sublime version 34.11 and pretend the utterly broken stress and needs systems never ruined the game. It's been working fantastically for me. I keep the new versions around for adventure mode only (which is getting pretty damn good, just so I don't sound like an ingrate).

Mod Releases / Re: [44.10] Dwarf Fortress: The Lunar Realms 1.25

Truly bizarre, in a good way. I love how familiar and yet alien everything feels. I just chose a starting civ that sounded cool and realized I ended up as pointy-eared treehuggers (coralhuggers?) IN SPACE! Clearly I must see if the moon has a hell so that I might repent, and send these prissy elves there with an express ticket!

In all seriousness, really cool stuff. Also STAR CATS! This is one of the only concepts that's ever interested me enough to play without Therapist, at least. Most of the rest of the things, I can live without, just hard to keep track of who does what, but I'll live.  ;D

OOC: Excellent, we do have clay! Diary of a Mad Potter is a go. Don't want to be a founder as I was just another lurker in the original, so I'm leaving it open to get in on pretty much any migrant wave you guys would like. Not picky.

In a journal covered with webbed stains of oil and chips of clay:

Granite, 1050

Just my damned luck that one of the human traders was some kind of expert in identifying carcasses of the cursed horrors and old beasts, somehow. Said he ran something called a 'pawn shop' back in his own village. Well, raised a stink right in the middle of the market when he tried to shout that the roc skulls I was selling were fakes! I'm not sure if anyone believed him - I mean, humans are pretty excitable, but I was getting some funny looks.

Human cocksuckers.

I'm not sure if I can continue on here, though. Apparently that human's highly regarded, or some kind of ogre shit like that. It might be time to move on to the next settlement. I've applied to join an expedition called 'Gloomdiamonds;' not the most promising name, but it seems to have the fewest dwarves that might know or recognize me. And it's nice and far away. I'll be able to sell my fakes easier that way...been working hard on some better weathering techniques. Tried it on some troll leg bones I made earlier, a lot of dwarves seem to like to use them as canes. Even put swords in some of them, everyone loves novelty shit like that, right?

The clay here is pretty poor, though. Most of the good stuff has been collected already. Another reason I applied to Gloomdiamonds is the hope they might have some better stuff there. I did ask a geologist, in passing.

Hopefully they accept my application sometime soon. I need some fresh air - the lads at the tavern keep joking that I must be allergic to myself. It's clay dust, you cretins!

I don't know if I'm ready to take turns and screw things up for everyone else, but I would like to be dwarfed in this one. My request in the-fort-that-shall-not-be-named got lost. :D

Do we have clay? I'd like to be a potter. The shady one that makes counterfeit forgotten beast trinkets and termite skulls.

I can't believe this clusterfuck lasted as long as it did. I posted in the original thread about...page 60 or so?

Sad to see it end. But, I'd like to be an active part of the sequel.  ;D

7
So, out of curiosity, I loaded up the last posted save just to take a look around.

ABORT, ABORT, CANNOT UNSEE

In technicality, they do have a skull, but it can't really be classified as one due to it being an exoskeleton.

It's either we use logic like that, pretend that THIS termite DOES indeed have a skull, or we deny that said creature was what it was said to be.

I like the idea that some mad potter devised a scheme to create counterfeit forgotten beast trinkets to sell.

"Yeah man, this is the skull of a legendary termite monster. Totally legit."

Cackling all the way to the coin vault about stupid customers.

9
...I didn't even know termites had skulls.

They don't. You know what that means.

We have a counterfeiter on our hands.

Maybe someone should take the soap madness to its inevitable conclusion and weaponize it. Drawbridge shotguns loaded with bars of soap?

Effectiveness: low.
Hilarity: high.
Soap is not that heavy. However, to best weaponize it, I would suggest using it in a dodge trap bridge. Drop bars, have foes dodge it, have them fall to their deaths. And if you used DF hack, you could load it onto balista/catapult, and shot it at the enemy, with a Worf level of effectiveness.

Yeah, that's why I said effectiveness: low.

Although there‘s still a chance of a lucky hit. This is a game where a fluffy wambler can decapitate a giant walking metal statue. I'll believe anything after that.

Plus if anyone did successfully build a catapult you can rest assured that at some point a forgotten beast or wereantelope or forgotten beast wereantelope would end up firing a vampire at the rest of the fort with it.

And this is a reason not to do it?  ;D

I registered here just to express my amusement at this epic disaster of a fortress after binge-reading this thread in the past day and a half. Just when you think you've seen everything...

Excellent work keeping it alive and excellent writing!

May I request a dwarfing? I'm too noob to actually play, but the chance to be a part of this? Aww yiss. I'd like to be a siege engineer. And if there aren't any siege weapons...well, why not?  :P
