DF Wiki Discussion / Lets Encrypt
« on: March 16, 2019, 07:46:55 pm »
The dwarffortresswiki is one of the few sites I use (and bay12...) that are still don't use TLS to encrypt. I'm well aware that the cost and hassle of certificate ownership/management has been a barrier here. But Let's Encrypt (https://letsencrypt.org/) now allows for free and simple management of your certificates. Any chance of moving in this direction?

DF General Discussion / Re: Lazy Mac Pack (v0.44.05)
« on: January 26, 2018, 11:53:11 pm »
Also, most Mac users probably don't have Num pads. Is everyone used to and prefer pressing "Shift =" (aka "+") to scroll up through lists in Dwarf Fortress? Or do you wish this was set to simply press "=" by default?

I add the mapping for '=' to be in addition to '+' and add '_' (shift + -) in addition to '-' for the secondary list scrolling. This is a pretty innocuous change that I would welcome to be included in the LNP. The default layout is annoying because one requires shift while the other doesn't -- which is why the default z level changes of <,> don't bother me.

I made a not-really-a-new-release: 39.1.1. No source code change, only the builds changed:
  • use Qt 5.7 for OS X build

Hopefully, the OS X version will work better on retina display.

The Qt library isn't linked in correctly.  I reported this in Issue 41

Termination Reason:    DYLD, [0x1] Library missing

Application Specific Information:
dyld: launch, loading dependent libraries

Dyld Error Message:
  Library not loaded: /usr/local/Cellar/qt@5.7/5.7.1/lib/QtGui.framework/Versions/5/QtGui
Referenced from: /Applications/Lazy Mac Pack v0.44.02-barebones-alpha-a/LNP/Utilities/DwarfTherapist.app/Contents/Frameworks/QtWidgets.framework/Versions/5/QtWidgets

I'm also kind of curious what it looks like on a Retina Display.
The only "issue" I've seen after a cursory look is when scrolling horizontally (such as on the Labors Full view), the column headers can scroll at a different speed than the data rows.

Thanks for testing and the screenshots. I'm not getting the scrolling issue in non-Retina Yosemite. Do the column headers and data rows re-synchronize when you stop scrolling?

Yes, they do sync back up so at rest all the columns line up appropriately. To be clear the difference isn't huge -- just enough to be noticeable while scrolling. After a bit more experimentation, this difference is also only expressed when the mouse cursor is over the column headers or the blank area under the data rows. If I try horizontal scrolling with the cursor over the data rows, they scroll in sync.

Looks fine on a 15" Retina MBP. There is a bit of graininess to the font at 1280x800, but not sure who would zoom in that much.  The only "issue" I've seen after a cursory look is when scrolling horizontally (such as on the Labors Full view), the column headers can scroll at a different speed than the data rows.

I've been able to successfully open the dmg from both github and dffd on 10.13.1.

This would be tremendously helpful for workflow reasons.

Sorry for hijacking this thread but this is tangentially related.

Jecowa, you were the last maintainer of the Mac LNP -- Lazy Mac Pack.  Looks like it hasn't had an update in a year -- do you intend to continue provide further updates?

Does TWBT need to be recompiled against the latest dfhack? I'm assuming it does.

DF Suggestions / Re: Zooming to Specific Z-Layer

It would be helpful to be able to hit a key sequence to change levels such as: Ctrl-G 50 (Go to z-level 50)

DF Suggestions / Hopper
« on: February 29, 2016, 03:59:15 pm »
It has been mentioned in the past http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=93624.msg2632566#msg2632566, but it would be extremely helpful to have a hopper. This would be an integral part of automated minecart operation. The hopper would accept items dumped from any cardinal direction or above to be deposited in a minecart below the hopper.

The hopper would be a construction that takes one block and a mechanism.  It must be placed in a channeled space (no wall or floor section). Minecarts (or other hoppers above) can dump their contents into the hopper or dwarfs can directly place items in the hopper.  When a minecart passes under the hopper, the hopper will drop its contents (up to a configurable maximum) into the minecart. This receiving minecart can continue on to its destination.  Any creature in the hopper space could be dropped into the minecart as well (so they could be source of infiltration by invaders -- !!!FUN!!!).  A hopper submerged in liquid (water/magma) should be able to operate normally filling a minecart with the liquid.  A hopper constructed from non-magma safe materials should melt leaving a hole for the magma to flow through unrestricted -- resulting in !!!FUN!!!

DF Suggestions / Re: Mass-Designate Priority Changes
« on: January 27, 2016, 07:28:06 pm »
This would be a massive help to me when guiding the construction of multilevel forts. Dwarves are very inefficient now when there is a multi-z level block at the same priority -- they just up and down vertically.  So to keep things efficient I need to designate floor by floor with different priorities.  It would be much easier if I could designate everything then change the priorities appropriately.

Yeah, they all left within a few days.  The SIEGE designation was finally lifted after a year.

Is there a way to clear the SIEGE designation?  I had an attack from a necromancer tower but they tried to cross the river and got washed off the map, but the SIEGE designation has continued for 3 more seasons.

Is there a reason why the automaterial plugin hasn't been applied to constructed tracks and track stops?
